    My wife said the dryer wasn’t heating so I finally found out how to change the element on our Samsung which we had for approximately 11 years. Once I replaced it & put everything back together, I heard a tumbling noise and my wife said I knew we should’ve called a technician. Broke my heart 😿. But I took it apart 4 times before I found your video & it looks like the idler pulley is damaged. I’m determined to repair this myself and restore my dignity 👍🏾

      This was the MOST detailed video I found. Towards the beginning of each of the reasons/fixes he references the noise that the dryer would make. I found that helpful and am currently working through these steps on my dryer. If you're not sure what squealing/squeaking/grinding sounds like... I'd just google it (that's what I did). Hope this helps a bit. Good luck! :)

    I agree regarding the noise sample. My dryer was making a thumping noise so I replaced the drum support rollers. Since I was in there, I felt it made sense to change the pulley wheel and belt. I cleaned dust and lint from the inside. Thumping noise is gone but now it just sounds extremely loud. It works do I feel confident regarding the repair but the loud operation is worse than the thumping.

    Thanks, you gave me some things to look at.
    And I was able to find out what was causing the dryer to sound like it was beating itself.
    #3 the Idler Pulley
    I replaced mine last year, and it looks as if it has moved over too far towards the elbow bend in the pulley arm.
    I took the belt and spindle off, checked to ensure the pulley arm was not worn out, and placed everything back.
    Once I did, I made sure it was level and then started the dryer, and it was quiet like it was supposed to be.
    So, thank you for this video. Very helpful.

    Excellent video. I just changed the belt, idler pulley, and two rollers and vacuumed the inside. The belt was shredding and I suspect it was the cause of a rotational noise. After reassembling everything, I tested the dryer and everything works but I am still hearing a rotational noise- I hope that it's from the blower in the back. I disassembled the dryer a second time but could not determine where the sound was originating. I cleaned the lint duct housing in the back of the dryer in 2020 and it was pretty full. I'm awaiting two foam seals to arrive before reopening the back of the dryer. And I hope that the source of the new noise is in the back of the dryer. This dryer is a 22-year-old Whirlpool Commercial which was purchased in a set from Lowe's for residential use. I would like to keep it running as it's uncomplicated without all of the new electronics.

We had a flood a little while back, had about 10 inches of water in basement…..lower than the door. But the dryer still works, it just makes a noise the whole time. Good news, I think. As I mentioned before, I got the nut off the fan blower wheel, but could t get the wheel off. So I just vacuum the lint and dust and use a toothbrush. As I was doing my ast vacuum, I heard something get sucked up. So I am thinking and hoping this was the issue. I looked in the vacuum and it was either a penny or a ear ring. I think it was my wifes ear ring, because it sounded like a screw going thru the vacuum tubing. I put everything back together and let t run empty for 2 minute, but it turned off automatically. I think it does this, as it has a sensor if the clothes are not wet to stop. We are doing a load of laundry now and throwing it in the dryer, so ia m praying to the laundry gods that it works! THank you so much for your video!

    My gas whirlpool dryer makes a high-pitched squealing sound for 10 or 20 seconds each time I start the dryer. Then the sound goes away. I’m going over your video now just to check up on my Maytag bravos XL. Even though it states “good airflow” I wanna check the blower for buildup, ect. What I do notice is when you manually spin the drum, there is light resistance and a low sandy, rumble sound. My guess is there fine dust, dirt, hair build up on and around the roller disc and bearings may be worn but not completely dead. I just have to find a roller and bearing kit for this model number, a “refresh kit” after 7 years of use. Other than that, dryer has zero issues.

    Replaced belt, entire upper shroud with plates, rear drum bearing and support, lower felt, and entire motor assembly. It’s humming extremely loud and still making thumping noises. What is the model number of your dryer? Does it make the humming noise and thumping noise during the whole cycle or just at a certain point?

    • @GovtWatchdog
      @GovtWatchdog 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@appliancepartsprosHi, it’s the GE GTD42EASJ2WW. The noises are consistent throughout the entire cycle whether the dryer is running full or empty. I actually tilted the dryer back while it was running empty and I could see the metal bottom of the dryer flex with each thump. It looks to me like the flexing is right where the motor is mounted. I’ve gone through several belts. I notice the rubber keeps fraying off and seems to begin to melt in between the ribs not long after replacement.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you installed parts did you make sure everything was installed correctly?

    • @GovtWatchdog
      @GovtWatchdog 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@appliancepartsprosI’m 100% positive. I pulled the drum out, checked my work and reassembled at least 4 times. Everything is installed correctly and tightly. The thumping sound was present before I replaced all those parts and it never went away. I also replaced the idler arm and pulley since I wrote my initial comment, but unfortunately there was no change. The thumping is still present. Could the drum somehow be out of round where the belt rides? The reason I ask is it seems like the motor pulley is being pulled up slightly by the belt and then released back down during the revolution, making that annoying thumping noise. I can see the bottom sheet metal of the dryer flexing with each thump. I wish I could simply blame the belt but I’m on the 3rd replacement belt now.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have replaced all these parts and it is still making that noise you could be having an issue with the drum. The drum could have some how gotten a dent in it or something and that could be causing the issue you have going on.

    I don't know what is going on. It's a new dryer and all at once it starts making a loud noise.

    My dryer makes a sound like coins are spinning in it. Any idea what that is? I'm going to pull it apart today to clean out the lint because now I'm worried about my house going up in flames like the dramatic footage in the video😟

      The dryer had a screw stuck in the drum. Super easy fix.

      Can be coins stuck under the "agitators" (not the right term) anyway anyone can fix this, just pop the top up and loosen the screws on the drum that hold the paddles that are in the dryer on then rotate by hand and coins or other debris may fall out

    None of these examples fit at all with the noise my dryer is making. Bummer.

    this video is for people who are already familiar with the structure of a drying. This is def not for beginners.

      What is going on with your dryer? What is the model number of your dryer?

      Is it making the noise through the whole cycle or just during a certain time? What is your model number of your dryer?

    Very informative! I finally found someone who knows more than my mother-in-law. Plug i in and take it for a spin he says...lol...I threw my mother-in-law in the trunk and took her for a spin and she came out lint free....pissed but lint free. There were more wrinkles on her face than on her clothes. I would of thrown her in the washer first but the laundromat is the better option just in case she has cooties.

    This video was not helpful without the noises that each problem creates.
