That is absolutely correct. The trailhawk is the "built for off road/trail rated" version of my wife's cherokee. I have a 98 Grand Cherokee that I just installed a front locker in. That one is my actual off-road vehicle.
Nice! 2" makes a huge difference. When the time comes to put on new tires, we're going to install the 2" lift/leveling kit and put some 32" tires as long as there isn't too much trimming.
Awesome video I might get one and this gave me an idea of its abilities thank you! I would recommend some falken at4 wild peaks and you should be a fair bit better off
Did you leave the selec-terrain in auto for this video? I love this video, I got a 22 Jeep Cherokee X and trying to see how Active Drive 1 works and what wheels spin when they are off the ground, and how capable it is by myself is tough. So I like videos like yours to give me an idea.
I selected sport mode. So far, for my style of driving, I find the sport setting to be best. The other settings use the traction control aids, which I'm not a big fan of. I appreciate your comment and am glad you like the video!
I just bought a brand new latitude lux for the wife. Was just curious about the off-road capabilities for my own entertainment. It seems to do pretty decent. How does your wife like it? A review from her perspective with a family would be great
If I wasn't worried about bumper clearance, I would have used momentum. I'm used to selectable lockers and low range. Getting a feel for how the computer system works, which is a big adjustment.
I experienced that once. When the 4wd system is being worked hard, the computer will automatically pop up the 4wd system unavailable service required message, and the jeep will only have 2wd available. I had to turn off my Jeep for a couple of minutes, then it reset, and 4wd worked. If you were just driving down the road in normal driving conditions and it is displaying that message, then I would pop a code reader on it and see what comes up. Other than that, I don't know what the common cause of that is. Although I'm now curious and will research it. 🤔
@@deslauriersadventures Thank you for your help yes it just came up from normal daily driving I didn't go off road I will have to eventually take it to my mechanic Im just afraid its going to be expensive
I did a little research, and it might just need an update. Your dealership or a good shop should be able to check for and update your system if that's the case. I wish I could help you more. Let me know what happens.
Was it on winters ? Is it reliable ? any problems yet ? i just bought a 2016 cherokee trail hawk and im pretty curious on how reliable these things are
Not on winter tires, still on the factory street tires. (Firestone) As far as reliability, I haven't had one issue with it yet. (28,000 mi on the odometer) If you have the trail hawk, then you have the top off-road package for cherokee. That means you have a low range selection as I do not. You also have a selectable locking rear end as I do not. So basically, you'd make short work on areas where mine would struggle.
@arthurwood7525 not really. This is the tigershark 2.0, which apparently has an oil consumption issue, mine included. Of course, what I'm about to say is my opinion, but it's extremely underpowered. Even with a 9-speed automatic, it's still not geared low enough, so 9th gear is never needed. If I could go back and do it again, I'd get the Grand Cherokee with the bigger engine and a true 4X4 drive train.
Even the Trailhawk needs a 2 inch lift and tires. And THEN it's great !
These were only made for the road although you can get 4x4 but they do have a trail rated model for this type of fun

I added some 245/65R17s to mind and it gave it 2 inches of ride hight. With no scrub

Were you able to do this without a lift kit?
@@JacksonASwan yep. Still leaves plenty of room with a better look and off-road capability

My wife loves it! I can see if she will do a review on it. She's a little camera shy, but I think I can convince her to do a review on the Jeep.
I was gonna get my wife one too lmfao
Perfect wife car
Use a little momentum to help with the off camber obstacles.
