Great video, help me a lot doing mine. Just want to add a comment: to remove the clutch assembly I noticed that you can put the bolts (with or without springs) and pull, the whole assembly would be out as a unit. Thank you for the video.
Great idea on the custom spanner tool. That saved me when I had the bike pulled apart at 9pm and came across that nut... I used a 1/4" impact on it with the "custom spanner", and it just rattled right off. Other advice I could offer anyone... this clutch is strange, as the lever pushes instead of pulls. When you are tightening down the plate that tensions the springs (square with 4 holes), only tighten it until it's a little past flush with the plate that holds the springs. If you tighten it all the way down, your lever wont be able to take the tension off of the clutch, so you'll have to take the cover back off and loosen it.
+Warsaw Pact Bydlo Thank you for the tip locked mine down then couldn't even manipulate the clutch afterwards.. Nothing takes the fun out of doing a job like doing the same one a few times!
step1: drain oil 1st! (or prepare to do massive clean-up as seen on the video) 4 bolts holding the plate together are super delicate do not over-torque them [super easy to strip]
Thanks for the Vid. Very helpful. What was the original symptoms that lead you to replace the clutch. When I ride my rebel it seems like the cluth is spinning because the bike revs higher and rides but slower than usual when I accelerate. I replaced the oil, plugs and now people tel me its mkst likely the clutch. Just wondering what are your thoughts. Thanks. 2009 Rebel.
I would be interested in this as well. Fogging Nitrous in my rebel for a little fun, my guess is the clutch will slip when the nitrous enters the chamber.
Not really an answer but I just put Barnett springs and plates (all 12) in my 2014 rebel and the clutch pull at the lever takes much more force to pull in than it did stock. Not sure if that means it's stronger or not but I'm sure it could handle more than stock output.
James G right on! I’ll look into it. I’m gonna be changing to a twinstar clutch since I’m fitting a kickstart to the rebel and have a twin start clutch cover. They are supposed to have a stiffer clutch.
Nice video,, but at 3:24 when the Side plate comes off a small slotted pin fell out, U can see it falling onto the frame,. It did it on mine too, Where does this go???
I have a 1982 Honda CM250 Custom. These bikes became the Rebels. What do you tighten the 4 10 mm bolt to? I actually have the factory service manual but it's not in there.
The proper spanner for the clutch hub is about $8 on Amazon. SIze is 24mm.

how did you keep the actual clutch from rotating while trying to remove the special bolt that holds the actual clutch with your custom made nut. ??
you just have to put it in gear bro
just to add my 1 cent: I used an impact wrench and came right off.....
I have an unusual question re clutch springs. would upgrading the spring to a stiffer spring decrease slipping and improve higher speed acceleration?
I bought mine as a set, for around $69 in Amazon.
luis berrios how did it work out?

Good informative video. I have a rebel 450 so I'm wondering if the removal process is the same or at least similar.
when you grind down the nut to get it off, what is the best way to replace the indention so it wont spin off after the clutch replacement?
what are the visible signs of what needs to be replaced?
Thank you this was helpful.
great stuff man thank you!!
