Yeah golfers over 100 really don't need a performance golf ball yet. Still, a cheap Kirkland will give them some bite on chips and pitches which might save a few strokes on the green.
Ruben Santillano seriously, it’s amazing how many ProV’s I find 20-40 yards from fairway in the woods & fields. It seems like a lot of really bad golfers use ProV’s
if you can find a Gamer top-flight, you have found a superior ball. Through that Titleist or the TP five back in the drink where they belong. Two people I hate to get behind are people playing Titleist or that little Toyota car. They are terribly slow and I want to smack them in the head.
@@starke2908 I am in my 60's. Have never tried the gamer ball. I like srixon soft feel and lady precept. There are only a couple of titleist balls that I like. I will check out the top flight gamer.
ive never had an issue with that. For me its avoid cleaning a ball near water. You use the ball cleaner and you are guaranteed to hit your next shot in water.
There's two different Kirkland balls. A 4 piece, which is a great ball, and a 3 piece, which is an okay ball. The 4 piece is as good as any tour level ball. The 3 piece is comprable to mid level balls at best.

@@schnertzrush417 I am also a golf pro. I teach just like he does. And with the things he is saying, I can tell you he has no clue. When he says the AVX ball is just the NXT rebranded, that is completely false. The AVX is an offshoot of the Pro V-1, with a little less spin so that it gives you a lower ball flight. Also, it is a premium ball, and costs the same as the Pro V-1. He is spouting a lot of misinformation in this video.
@@timdavis1464 I guess allot of this is oppinion, maybe his reference based on how these "Balls" feel to him. Glad there's guys like him and you to coach old guys like me. If I can ask I one thing, is there a ball that can help me putt better? If I could make a few more 1 and 2 putts( like when I was younger) I'd be scratch again. I lose probably 8-10 strokes on greens a round.
Very interesting. I am a 5 handicap and I have never been able to notice much difference at all in golf balls. I have had quite a few rounds in the mid-70s with TopFlite D2 Feel. I seem to hit the Bridgestone B330, Callaway ERC soft, ProV1x and TP 5X the furthest in that order. But when it is all said and done, a solid hit gets them all within 5 yards. I love Chrome soft as well and I can't believe that it is that much shorter than the others.
Apparently the 2020 version is 7 yards longer, after they redesigned the ball and made very expensive upgrades to their factory. But their top tour players still don't play with the retail ball.
Hey Raymond I love the TopFlite D2 Feel too. Great ball. They are getting hard to find now. I'm trying a few different ones now but I'm leaning to Bridgestone e6/e12 have you tried them?
@@JayColucci1 The e6 used to be my favorite ball. Haven't played the e12. All the balls that I play are the ones that I find. I have buckets of found balls.
I play the Maxfli Tour X. I’ve had very good results-distance, spin, and feel, are(to me), on par with any ball I’ve tried. You can usually get 2 dozen for $50.
Golf isn’t all about long and straight off the tee. Yes it helps to have distance but you also need green side control. To each their own but remember the saying “drive for show” “chip and putt for dough”. Everyone just needs to find that right ball that has a combination of both for their own individual game.
I read a Golf Digest article a few years back that tested a bunch of golf balls that had been in the water for three years and they found very little degradation.
I use the Wilson Duo Soft when I play with my vintage golf set. With my persimmon woods it feels a bit like the old wound balata balls of old. I just don't want those old persimmon heads cracking, and the Duo Soft takes that worry away.
Kind of funny... I won a sleeve of those chrome soft balls for having the low net score in my league. I decided to pull one out and hit it on a drive in a scramble. I absolutely smashed a drive, and I noticed right away that it didn't go nearly as far as my Pro V1s. I thought it would be longer, and just not spin as good. Turns out it was WAY shorter, and DIDNT spin as good too. I gave them away.
Noodle seem to me just as good as ProV1, much more distance and very consistent spin rate into the greens. My theory is; deduct your handicap from the price of a dozen ProV1 and thats your limit per dozen. $45-20 hdcp=$25 per dozen max.
Yeah I am a new golfer and I am glad I have Supersoft Callaway, they are pretty good and I managed to do pretty good shots with the Supersoft callaway!
Dude I don't know where you're getting your info but the chrome soft is one of the best balls. I've tried all the premium balls and the problem with the pro v1 is if you have a slower swing speed and miss hit them they are awful for control. I found the best distance and accuracy in the chrome soft. I play them and the super soft when I'm on an unfamiliar course just cuz they are a little cheaper.
The data is from robot testing presented by MyGolfSpy. They actually show the 2019 Chrome Soft was one of the least straight balls out there, incredibly slow off the driver, and inconsistent. The issues of the Chrome Soft are pretty well documented if you search - which is why they spent millions upgrading their factory in MA.
he’s actually not wrong, chrome soft is a good ball for driver swing speeds around 85-90 , i guarantee phil mickelson is being given a completely different chrome soft than we buy in the store. if you have a slower speed you under compress it, if you swing too fast you over compress it. And for being called a chrome soft it’s not exactly got the softest touch around greens. But you are right about the Pro V1 and your speed may be absolutely ideal for a chrome soft.
@@andrewwolf4963 The 2020 Chrome Soft X is now higher compression and will hold up better at higher clubhead speed. They are saying 7 yards longer than last year at 120 mph, but that still leaves it behind the other top brands I believe.
Steve Pratt Golf really? that’s awesome i kinda gave up on the chrome soft as an option , not because my driver as i have a 110 speed, but because my 7 iron at 91 was only getting 3900-4500 spin which was scaring the shit out of me , especially when at the time i was considering getting p790s and they were lower spin than my pings and the low spin was giving me a 187 carry with a 7 which would’ve made my gapping atrocious and scary. I love the softer feel ball, i been gaming the bridgestone tiger edition and to bring my spin up i began using the mizuno RB Tour ball, your video was not bad, it was just misleading because i clicked on expecting to hear about ball brand and variance, instead you out a different perspective on it and taught us what to avoid as far as ball finding scenarios. I will say it was very unique. Thank you for the update on the 2020 chrome soft, i loved the old HX Tours as a junior golfer back in 2006/7 for a bit. Hexagon dimples are a bit nostalgic lol like finding an old Ben Hogan Apex ball or Balata Titleist or Top Flight
I’ve been playing the new Kirkland and it seems that it is a little bit shorter than the pro v1. Not a bad thing though because it doesn’t go as far into the trees when I hit it
Steve frequent refers to “decent golfers” and he thinks the soft balls are horrible. I believe the soft golf balls are made for slower swing golfers. I wonder if swing speed was taken into account in his ball comparison.
My dad swears by the lady precept. Bought him some for Christmas in hot pink was shocked when he pulled them out to play them and then beat me 78 to 79
Yes a lot of men played that ball for it's soft feel. You might even argue that it started the whole soft ball revolution. Then they came out with the Laddy, which was probably the same ball. Yes it's got soft feel but no spin around the green and no distance at higher speeds. But yes you can shoot 78 with one.
Very few people realize that the difference between the laddie and the lady is simply the spelling it is the same exact golf ball on the inside I have cut many of them open.
@@82isaak unfortunately no. That's the trade off with most soft "distance" balls. My favorite ball that has a soft feel but has great performance are the Srixon Q Star Tour balls. The Z star line is exceptional too but not as soft and spin more
The best for sure! The new Vera X1 (the ball that G. Player's kid tried to introduce at Augusta during the opening ceremony) is really close to the Pro V1. Basically the same $.
I'm a 9 hc and I use the Maxfli Tour and Tour X and find these balls superior to most. The Tour is a three piece and the Tour X a four piece. Both are "center of gravity balanced"; which helps with direction of flight and also putting alignment. I generally do not care for Dicks Sporting Goods, but these balls perform and hit an excellent price point. My other favorites are: Prov-1 and Srixon Z Star. I find the Maxfi's comparable.
I have played the chrome soft for years , you talk about robot testing but the problem with robot testing is that there is no mistakes or other variables. I have both the pro v1x and chrome soft currently a I'm far more consistent with the chrome soft an hit it further than the pro v1x which spins up to much.
My go to balls was the Bridgestone Tour Rx, but for 2022 I now play the Maxfli Tour CG. Price for 2 dozen on sale is $30 per dozen with a two dozen purchase at Dicks. Honestly, I can’t see any difference between the Bridgestone and Maxfli, other than saving $20 per dozen. I play 160 rounds per year and a 5 handicap senior player. If you are looking for a urethane covered quality ball, the Maxfli checks all the boxes.
Started playing Kirkland balls a year ago. My handicap has dropped from 10 to 8 in the last year. Not too shabby for a 58 year old. The Kirkland balls are as good as anything I have ever played including Pro V's and TP5's, Bridgestone's and Chrome soft. I have played them all in 45 years of playing golf. I recently played 4+ rounds with the same Kirkland ball so they last. One of the rounds I shot 1 over par. So please Kirkland balls are no better or worse than any other ball out there but they sure are a hell of a lot less money.
@@louiekidd251 I have and he is right. I have hit 2 that were given to me and I ripped them high and straight off the Tee with the driver going right behind them with a Callaway super fast and a Titleist. I couldn’t believe that the super fast and prov1 went at least 30 yards further
Most importantly, people don’t realize that these are made using the production molds and tools found in an old Titlest factory. They are actually ProV1 in this sense. The brand name of Kirkland on the ball is obviously something people have issues with, not the performance because they are essentially a reverse engineered ProV1
I used the Kirkland ball. I liked them a lot around the green and with the short game. I did notice a big difference in how short they were off the tee.
I use them too, looks like they've been discontinued however. I've got a bunch, but also finding out that I can play well with multiple different balls
I worked and played a course were a lot of balls were lost in the brambles and woods and it amassed a collection that filled up eight five gallon buckets. I would take different brands of balls out on the course and compare them by hitting straight, fade and draw shots to compare carry, roll and the ability to shape the shots. There is a marked difference in performance of urethane covered balls which is seen when trying to shape shots. It’s possible to shape any ball, the difference is how much one needs to open or close the face and stance to do it. For a beginner who has trouble hitting range balls straight and keeping the ball in the short grass when playing, a premium urethane ball will result in more lost balls due to slices and hooks than the less expensive balls. But please keep buying and playing those ProV1s so I can keep finding them in the woods. 😂
I hit Bridgestone 330 & Chrome Soft & ZStar half a club further than a Pro V1 I hit them all higher as well. 102 mph 14 handicap been playing since I was a teenager.
Steve, I tried the MAXFLI Tour and it's pretty good for my swing speed 83 to 85 mph. I found the Srixon Soft feel to go the farthest and best on the Green for me.
Maxfly standard price is $35, however, they tend to run them on sale at 2 for $50. Performance is absolutely great. I used to play the ProV1 and it performs very similar. I have a high swing speed. My driver ball speed is generally around 180-185 and the ball still has great distance.
Chrome Soft X LS is a very strong contender from Calloway. In My Golf Spy's recent ball test, it was one of the best performing balls, especially distance-wise, and I love the noise and feel of it (very firm).
Yeah interesting that they had to make "SOFT" very "firm" to keep up with the other balls. Definitely most improved ball company, but I still prefer others personally.
@@Inmotion70 Soft seems to be one of these marketing terms manufacturers want to put on anything whether the ball is soft or not. I don't really get it - I like nice firm/loud feedback, but I have a decent swing speed, so maybe that's a factor. Titleist are definitely still the kings of quality manufacturing - I would use the Pro V1X as the feel is very similar to CS X LS but it spins a bit too much for me.
Yeah I’m a Bridgestone BX guy Such a great ball! I was a ProV1 or ProV1x (depending because if I needed to buy at Clubhouse some don’t carry the X). I really thought I would see Nitro on this list. A couple of cheap friends think it doesn’t matter and I can’t get through to them no matter how bad I beat them! Yes I’m a better golfer anyhow, but ball is huge in my opinion and also the confidence you get from it helps tremendously.
Most important thing you said, I’ve always disobeyed, because I’ve used “found balls”, but I understand what you mean in various performances. If a certain swing places the ball right next to the cup, if I use a different ball I may be short, long, or off line depending on the ball I use, so using always the same performing ball gives one a huge advantage.
The Wilson duo is not a long ball your right.. but it’s easy to hit straight..great for the weekend golfer..ok around the greens..What good is a Pro v if I can’t control it?...Us weekend golfers just need a basic ball
My favorite ball is the top flight straight distance. Slick paint surface keeps the ball in the fairway and maximum distance. Softer than the pro V one. I bought a bunch of boxes when the last version was released about two years ago. My swing speed is about 105. I get decent spin and the price was less than one dollar per ball.
A premium performance ball can hurt your game more than help it. For the less technical player. Titleist didn't sue Kirkland because it was a terrible ball.
I agree that the less skilled less technical player will have a hard time seeing a big difference. In that case, Kirkland moves up as a decent value ball.
Great video.... But let's be honest..... for anyone at the skill level that would be watching this video the quality and construction of the available modern golf balls today would have VERY little impact on their game. Most of us would benefit more from a couple of lessons and a bit more time at the driving range.
@@tedzink4574 That's 90% of the game in my mind..... playing smart and knowing the limits of your abilities to attack the course in a way that doesn't get you into trouble.

Yuuup 👌 Low Spin. I am a super crappy player, but Chrome Soft X seem to work nicely for me. But I 💯 agree with you on the Kirklands, every single time, it slices off ...bye-bye. 😂 but user error is definitely a possibility.
This guy has no clue what he is talking about. I used to play ProV1’s for the longest time. When the AVX came out they suggested I tried them because of my swing speed and high ball spin with driver. I gained about 25-30 yds switching balls. This is why you get fit for a ball.
Mckinsey Rodriguez for me the prov1’s were spinning back more but I hit me irons pretty high so the AVX balls stop almost immediately and still spin back a little bit on occasion.
Steve Pratt Golf then why would you say to avoid them at all costs when they will benefit and work better for a lot of players depending on swing. That is misinforming people and bad advice. The AVX is by far the best ball for me.
I'm confused?... You include a ball (Kirkland) in this video with headline "avoid at ALL COST" but then offer a reason why you could use it?.... Frankly, I've played several rounds with Kirkland and find it to be a very good ball.
I have tried everything out there including your Snell MTB. My pick based on performance first and price second is the Top Flite D2 Feel.It is longer off the tee than any ball I've tried, durable, decent (not a ProV) around the green, available at Dick's for 2/$25. It comes in colors as well and even wins in the simple rebound test off your garage floor. Don't take my word for it, go buy a box or two and try them. Don't let your ego get in the way because your buddies play Pro V's. You have nothing to lose and you will be surprised at what you find.
I COMPLETELY agree with you. Ive used dozens of different balls at different price points and the D2 feel is one of my very favorites. Long off the tee and good (not great) greenside spin. Unfortunately top flight no longer makes it. It was replaced but im not sure if it was with the Hammer control or the redesigned Gamer. Considering Gamer is a 3 piece ball my money is on the Hammer
@@bmmellott13 distance is great if you can keep it between the stakes. For me I prefer green side performance in a ball. At the stage in my game that's where my focus now is. If I can put my drives to the 150 marker on the par 4's I'm good. From 150 in to 75 yards is where my games strength is. If I do miss the green its generally is in a spot where I can up and down it most times. I also focus on elimating doubles, sometimes a bogie is a good score. That's the mindset of a guy who can only get 150 out of his 6 .
I bought a box of cut blue after reading a bunch of great reviews comparing them to pro vs the only negative being that they aren't as durable! Was excited to try them but my back's been out for a couple weeks now a little less excited thanks buddy😢
Thanks - really interesting. I personally find the Titleist AVX really very good because the ball flight appears to be lower and I tend to hit the ball too high. Not sure why this is
The whole idea of the AVX is to give players who hit it too high a lower ball flight. Most likely you have a more steep angle of attack in your swing, and that's why you hit the ball high.
I would agree that the Vice Pro is a pretty good ball at lower speeds, 85-90 mph. Once you start getting faster than this, other balls start zooming way ahead in distance. Good comment.
I play the maxfli I do the neon orange balls they are awesome and easy to find they really stick out. 2 boxes for 30 dollars they are my go to good performance but just for the color alone I love em
Pinnacle Red Flash for me.......the ball I alway seem to find in the woods or deep rough is the Titelist PROV1....I guess the users of this ball aren’t worried about looking for them. The brand I have tried but always seem to lose very easily is the Srixon.
I hit all kinds of golf balls at home out in the farm field my personal driving range every year my furthest drives are pinnacle seems like people rarely mention them anymore.
Recently picked up Maxfli Soft-fli 35 balls at Dick's. Three dozen for $30. They fly striaght, far enough for me to be within mid-iron range to the green (I am not a long hitter. 260-ish max on a drive). And, they're durable.
Clarification as to recovered vs. reconditioned golf balls. Reconditioned include those that are repainted or coated. Recovered that are properly surface cleaned are not necessarily reconditioned. The loss of potential performance with solid materials given they're hermetically sealed is negligible unless - Cover is scarred or cut. Many dimples are damaged. Sphere is out of round. Inquire with your nearest and honest professional ball retriever that's developed a keen eye for grading condition of reclaimed golf balls.
I took a 7-10 year break from golf when my kids were younger, came back and used old Titleist DT's I had found years before. The data and studies said they were so old and lost so much performance they should have gone backwards, but they played fine. Mfgr's want NEW sales, every ball and club is longer and straighter than the last version. Are they really?
@@Inmotion70, Steve Please define 'decent'? Decent to me is either single digit to scratch golfer OR one that doesn't delay play of the group with gab or plumb bobbing every shot.
The most important tip you gave was to alwatys use the same ball... even if you arent a great player it will improve your game by simply having the same feel when putting. Putting is what makes or breaks your game. The more consistant your putting the better you will do. Iam a disable vet now, but used to play scratch golf. I can barely swing now and have purchased 8 doz Taylormade distance plus balls. I have heard that for seniors and people with slower swing speeds that this ball is a real winner. At 12 bucks a doz on sale at amazon it is a great price point... remember... always use the same ball.... another neat video would be the most interesting old ball video... what you liked and used and why. Accushnet club specials were my favorite as a junior... loved the royal with hexagon dimples and as a kid... who can forget the "Oh Shit Specials. Didnt care about performance but they were fun to play with.. really cheap at Canadian tire in the 70s. But I lost a lot of balls... so they were perfect. Used them for years and it was all I played... except a cheapie when shooting over water with a very dangerous approach... lol. Always enjoy your videos... thx.
I've had great rounds with the Callaway Chrome Soft, last week I was out driving some good guys who were using drivers, I was going Chrome Soft and 3 wood. I’m not a follower either. I’m a 30-year man playing at least 2-3 times a week. I shoot maybe 82 - 84 regularly. Sometimes better. I have used every ball from Pro V 1 to Top-Flite. I currently use Wilson Duo and I like the way it feels off the face, around the greens and off my putter. Robot testing is fine…if you’re a robot. Find what you need (softness on the greens, distance, more or less spin…whatever), and use that ball. Groove it out and learn to score with the optimal ball for you. Why let some guy five states away decide which ball you’re going to use at your favorite muni?
Hey you're one of many who has made this comment. The MGS testing measure ball speed about 2 mph slower on the AVX vs. the ProV1. Maybe send them an email. if you're a better golfer, the biggest drawback of the AVX is that it has 4 times the dispersion of the ProV1 - it just isn't very consistent. Thanks very much for the comment - I'm always up for agreeable disagreement.
Most likely cause- the AVX aerodynamic pattern 'digests' your swing impact factors more efficiently. Getting an added 15 yards of distance is an extraordinary difference just from ball selection.
@@jalan8171 Aerodynamic pattern is not really that different between balls in terms of distance. But yes the robot testing showed at least 15 yards at slower speed, and much more than that at high speed.

Depending on the day and how I feel after warming up... love Vice... just look beat up after a couple of rounds, Chrome if I am all over the play...Srixon if I bought it myself, otherwise no idea what it is if picked up off the course. Bad golfer, that is me... but what I do.
Great video. I always thought performance balls were better for my game than feel/soft across most brands. Disagree on the Kirkland versus MaxFli debate. I’ve scored some of my best rounds with Kirkland Signature and worst ones with MaxFli StraightFli. Never missed more fairways nor had as many 3-putts. Disappointing because old school (25+ years ago) MaxFli was da bomb.
what swing speeds are you talking about? Average golfers are around 90mph with the driver. I understand a mid-compression gives the best distance for us?
This has been proven to be mythology and sales gimmick actually. The highest compression ball goes the farthest at virtually any speed. At 90 mph the spread between shortest and longest premium balls is around 20 yards.
I play the AVX when it’s windy. Them seem to cut through the wind pretty well. Maybe not as long as ProV1 but more predictable when I’m playing links 🇬🇧

All testing I have seen has been the complete opposite on the AVX distance wise and even beat the prov1
It is a long golf ball if you are a high spin high speed player. But it is much slower off the face, that is a fact.
I can hit the AVX a mile as well. I don't get the stats here.
@@JayColucci1 Do they still make the D2?
I play the Maxfli Tour X. I’ve had very good results-distance, spin, and feel, are(to me), on par with any ball I’ve tried. You can usually get 2 dozen for $50.
I found a maxfli while golfing and what a difference it made. I lost it because it went further than I expected.
Great ball, even better is the price
Golf isn’t all about long and straight off the tee. Yes it helps to have distance but you also need green side control. To each their own but remember the saying “drive for show” “chip and putt for dough”. Everyone just needs to find that right ball that has a combination of both for their own individual game.
Yes I agree. But greenside control is pretty much a given nowadays as so many balls have soft urethane covers. Thanks for your comment!
Ah yes. I remember the old adage - "great scores, got someone else to play your shots" or something like that.
I read a Golf Digest article a few years back that tested a bunch of golf balls that had been in the water for three years and they found very little degradation.
Yeah pond balls work fine for me to be honest
I use the Wilson Duo Soft when I play with my vintage golf set. With my persimmon woods it feels a bit like the old wound balata balls of old. I just don't want those old persimmon heads cracking, and the Duo Soft takes that worry away.
I thought the same when putting with my old Wilson 8802 putter.
I love Maxfli Tour balls. I’ve been playing maxfli’s since the old Blue Dot days.
Maxifli noodles are good too
Noodle seem to me just as good as ProV1, much more distance and very consistent spin rate into the greens. My theory is; deduct your handicap from the price of a dozen ProV1 and thats your limit per dozen. $45-20 hdcp=$25 per dozen max.
I really like that. My handicap is 15 so I get $30 a dozen. I’m gonna use that method
I play Noodle almost 100 percent of the time, love them
Bridgestone e6 soft feel for me nowadays just as good as anything high ended priced
e6 does not fly high enough or long enough. They feel great but for a straight hitter I think there are much better balls.
Whenever i used my wedge I’d find part of the paint(?) Hanging off.
Bridgestone Tour BXR is my favorite ball. The E6 soft model is a nice cheap alternative that I really enjoy
Yeah I am a new golfer and I am glad I have Supersoft Callaway, they are pretty good and I managed to do pretty good shots with the Supersoft callaway!
I like almost any high spin soft ball, noodles are nice too
I like the new shiny yellow ones that say Super Range. They sell them by the buckets.
Me too. 100 balls for £5. Loads of lovely people leave me tees as well.
They have racing stripes baby!
@@JwMatrix they're speed stripes. It's been proven stripes on a ball, like a car, increase speed by 2/3rds but the stripes have to be facing the hole.
But you are right about the Pro V1 and your speed may be absolutely ideal for a chrome soft.
but this video was in fact misleading and mehhh
Not a bad thing though because it doesn’t go as far into the trees when I hit it
Vice Pro, I dig it.
I’ve tested a few at my swing speed 72/74mph. The Wilson Duo Soft was 9 yards longer (avg of 12 shots) over a pro v1
I don’t believe that was the one he mentioned
Steve frequent refers to “decent golfers” and he thinks the soft balls are horrible. I believe the soft golf balls are made for slower swing golfers. I wonder if swing speed was taken into account in his ball comparison.
i have an average swing speed around 108mph and i hit duo softs like 10 yards longer also i dont know what this guy is on about
I buy the maxfli Straightfli for my kids and i play their softfli...good enough for us.
How can I take this serious if a ball on the top 5 best list is also on your bottom 5 list?
Especially when his video shows nothing to support his claim. I’d recommend he watch Rick Shiels’ ball comparison video on these same balls. 🤦🏻♂️
Snell MTB and Vice Pro provide a great overall ball close to Pro V1 performance not quite, but the price point cannot be beat.
Yes I think ProV1 has them beat in the consistency, but most golfers will never notice.
I've had great success with the AVX, better than pro v1 and pro v1x
Would you say you spin the ball a lot?
@@Inmotion70 no, not much spin at all. Ironically, I have a high trajectory on Driver, and low trajectory on irons
i played prov1x and loved that ball, but have gained about 15 yards or so with AVX. I average 240-250 on driver, up from 225-235 before
My dad swears by the lady precept.
Great ball
Very few people realize that the difference between the laddie and the lady is simply the spelling it is the same exact golf ball on the inside I have cut many of them open.
I'm 66 and played Lady Precept for about 15 yrs..........they changed and play a bit harder so I no longer play them !!
They were the longest ball in golf digest about ten years ago.
If you've a swing, you can play a decent round of golf with ANY ball ... and that goes for a range ball, too.
Good luck getting up and down on a real golf course.

Bridgestone E6 soft feel , good distance and good price .
My personal favourite!
how about short iron and wedges? does it have good spin?
@@82isaak unfortunately no. That's the trade off with most soft "distance" balls. My favorite ball that has a soft feel but has great performance are the Srixon Q Star Tour balls. The Z star line is exceptional too but not as soft and spin more
Titelist ProV I everytime! Shoot low 80’s or high 70’s with a 95 thrown in a couple of times per summer!
I hole heartedly agree, Jeff.
I like the Calloway triple track 🤙🏾
I get really good distance with Callaway but have not tried the Chrome soft.
Also pass over the single ball overrun bin at the golf store. Some defects are not printing errors. Compression consistency is often an issue.
That range is sick
Steve, great breakdown of the golf balls. I have to agree that the Titleist ProV1 is the best ball on the market! Well done !
Srixon Zstars are all I need.
Triad might be a touch better. Crazy, but... straighter, stops just as well, but it is even straighter
You're absolutely right Steve, I bought a sleeve of chrome soft and got a ball with a no dimple patch on it. Fell off the drying rack ?

Thanks for the review Randy.
I used the Kirkland ball. I liked them a lot around the green and with the short game. I did notice a big difference in how short they were off the tee.
They upgraded the ball. This video showed the green box. The version 2 costco ball is actually really good
I use Noodle easy straight. Used one for 23 holes in a row.
I use the noodle neon and absolutely love them!
Noodle neon here. Love them.
I use them too, looks like they've been discontinued however. I've got a bunch, but also finding out that I can play well with multiple different balls
noodle is a decent ball. maybe best for the price. maxfli makes them so not surprised..
I play Top Flite because I like the sound they make when putting. Unfortunately I hear that sound too often during my rounds.
Right when you triple putt every hole
I totally agree. I Use the ERC regularly and tried the Chromesoft and was amazed at how bad the performance was. Distance was the biggest drop.
I think the 2020 ones with the graphene core may have a huge difference then. I seem to hit them a lot farther than TP5X or PoV1x
I've heard lots of good things about it!
The AVX is a great ball
Seriously is. Hits just as long as my prov1x. Lower flight same distance if not a bit further. Just no spin on the greens.
@@jgarss they have plenty of spin around the greens. I'm a PGA pro, and I get almost there same spin as the pro v-1, and more than the pro v1x.
The orange Titleist Velocity ball is my gamer.
great ball you can get cheap at Walmart
I like the Wilson Duos. I agree with you on the distance but the accuracy is good around the greens. I aim for accuracy over distance.
Maxfly standard price is $35, however, they tend to run them on sale at 2 for $50. Performance is absolutely great. I used to play the ProV1 and it performs very similar. I have a high swing speed. My driver ball speed is generally around 180-185 and the ball still has great distance.
Wow that's great to know that they hold up.
The Kirkland signatures r 🤤
My friend was in golf digest for shooting a 58 at the age of 13 and he played the Kirkland signature
What's his name?
Davis Hartwell
Yeah I’m a Bridgestone BX guy
Such a great ball!
This is the driving range in Moorpark, CA. Right next to Tierra Rejada
The Wilson duo is not a long ball your right.. but it’s easy to hit straight..great for the weekend golfer..ok around the greens..What good is a Pro v if I can’t control it?...Us weekend golfers just need a basic ball
I'd go Kirkland instead then. Better value, longer and more spin too.
Have you tried the topflite gamer? Good ball for the price
prov1, prov1x and avx are each made at different factories so I've heard. they have had quality control issues with the x and espescially the avx.
A premium performance ball can hurt your game more than help it. For the less technical player. Titleist didn't sue Kirkland because it was a terrible ball.
I agree that the less skilled less technical player will have a hard time seeing a big difference. In that case, Kirkland moves up as a decent value ball.
I just played 18 holes with balls that I found(work at a golf course) an there was a little difference in the ball usually use vice pro
Great video.... But let's be honest..... for anyone at the skill level that would be watching this video the quality and construction of the available modern golf balls today would have VERY little impact on their game.
Most of us would benefit more from a couple of lessons and a bit more time at the driving range.
And making better decisions about shot selection, aim points, and hole strategy.

Wonder what you think about the new Chrome Soft X LS. Supposed to fly long and be more forgiving around the greens.
I will look it up. What does the LS stand for Paddy? Is it Low Spin?
Yuuup 👌 Low Spin. I am a super crappy player, but Chrome Soft X seem to work nicely for me. But I 💯 agree with you on the Kirklands, every single time, it slices off ...bye-bye. 😂 but user error is definitely a possibility.
This guy has no clue what he is talking about. I used to play ProV1’s for the longest time. When the AVX came out they suggested I tried them because of my swing speed and high ball spin with driver. I gained about 25-30 yds switching balls. This is why you get fit for a ball.
Yes they are low spinning and will have some benefit to a high spin high speed golfer.
When you switched, how did your feel around the green change. I can find balls that fly farther but have bad feeling for touch shots.

Because eventually, I'm hoping you improve, and then you will outgrow the Kirkland and start demanding more out of your golf ball.
I bought a box of these and while they were ok, they weren’t very durable. My wedges tore them up pretty fast compared to other brands.
What do you think of the prosimmon nutek golf balls?
Lately I start with 3 pack of tp5x vice pro and Srixon by hole 5 I’m using the top flights because I lost all the good ones
Not sure why this is
Agree. Nothing wrong with the AVX. Pretty long and straight for me.
The whole idea of the AVX is to give players who hit it too high a lower ball flight. Most likely you have a more steep angle of attack in your swing, and that's why you hit the ball high.
Been a fan of Vice for about 4 years now. Specifically the Pro model. Great price (especially if you by 5 dozen+ at a time) for great performance.

I play these too...great ball for money and I dont seam to lose them as much!
Ball was submerged for years under wide variety of temperature. Inquire with your nearest and honest professional ball retriever that's developed a keen eye for grading condition of reclaimed golf balls.
I looked at a scientific study on submerged golf balls. The difference after a few months is enough that a decent player would notice.

The most important tip you gave was to alwatys use the same ball... even if you arent a great player it will improve your game by simply having the same feel when putting. Putting is what makes or breaks your game. The more consistant your putting the better you will do. Iam a disable vet now, but used to play scratch golf. I can barely swing now and have purchased 8 doz Taylormade distance plus balls. I have heard that for seniors and people with slower swing speeds that this ball is a real winner. Can you do a test of this ball on the basis of senior golfers. Would be interested to see what you have to say about it. My all time favorite ball was thr Taylormade TP Black 100 compression ball. Used them for years and it was all I played... except a cheapie when shooting over water with a very dangerous approach... lol. Always enjoy your videos... thx.
I would recommend playing a urethane ball for the greenside spin. Will make a huge difference if your score and you won't lose any distance.
Got my first ever hole in one with a Chrome Soft!!.....it stays in the bag (oh... 175yds, 7 iron)
Sweet! It was the best ball that day.
I'm always the shortest off the tee and the lowest on the score card. Spalding SD Tour Urethane and only 20 a dozen.
I've had great rounds with the Callaway Chrome Soft, last week I was out driving some good guys who were using drivers, I was going Chrome Soft and 3 wood. The ball I avoid is any Warrior ball, I lost 4 dozen way faster than I thought possible, though 1 of them was headed OB and spun back into play. But just that one.
Agree . . . it seems he is pulling the testing from 2019 because I can't find any 2020 testing w/ the updated Chrome Soft. I find the 2020 ball to be pretty awesome.

I love the Maxfli Tour golf balls. the redmax was my fave for a long time. They're just so difficult to get in Canada
Where is the testing link? I swear this info comes from MGS 2019 testing where the Chrome Soft did have its issues. If it's from 2020, can you please provide the link? I can't find it. Thanks.
MGS did an nice update article on the Chrome Soft. Apparently its 7 yards longer at 120 mph.
*I'm not a callaway or chrome soft fan just sharing info
The guys at TXG did a test on this recently showing the MGS test results for chrome soft was likely skewed by environmental variables
I just bought and tried the Callaway chrome soft balls, and I'm actually hitting them farther. And don't have a problem hitting them straight. Been using Pro V's for 10+ years easily.
Thanks for the review! What is your clubhead speed?
Steve Pratt Golf Not super quick. Would that make a difference?
@@jimstoller1936 Yes. The Chrome Soft regular will not hold up to a faster swing as it will fall behind other balls. The X are doing a lot better on fast swings now though.
I’m loving the Maxfli tour in matte red or orange, fly great off the drive , great spin off the wedges, roll fantastic on the greens. Some of my top favorites, along with those Wilson duo staffs. Some may laugh but noodles L&S are great too .
I like the softer golf balls. I play the W/S duo soft and love the feel. I don't give a hoot what anyone else plays with nor how far they hit it. I haven't felt nor measured any significant difference and that's what counts. I like what I like and I'm sticking with it.
You should pay attention to what other people play and think, even if you don’t copy - that’s how humans learn and improve 🙄
@@any1younger I do not need nor accept external validation for my decisions because I do my research well and do pay attention to others thoughts but I don't follow others when they lead to a conclusion opposite of my needs. That would be a foolish mistake.
@@any1younger No that's how people become sheep
Hit the pro V 285 off the tee and the avx 300 how would you explain that?
Is it possible you hit the avx better. If you are so consistent that you are confident in your assessment then you are a better player than me and should disregard my comments
Depending on the day and how I feel after warming up... love Vice... just look beat up after a couple of rounds, Chrome if I am all over the play...Srixon if I bought it myself, otherwise no idea what it is if picked up off the course. Bad golfer, that is me... but what I do.
I love the maxfli ball, they go far.
Hard to trust his oinion. He seems to pick on pinnicle. I have played many brands and I really like pinnicle.
Hard to chip and pitch it close for the easy 1 putts.
what swing speeds are you talking about? Average golfers are around 90mph with the driver. I understand a mid-compression gives the best distance for us?
This has been proven to be mythology and sales gimmick actually. The highest compression ball goes the farthest at virtually any speed. At 90 mph the spread between shortest and longest premium balls is around 20 yards.
@@Inmotion70 Huh, interesting; thanks for the reply!
I’ve always felt that a lost ball is lost for a reason ,that reason is so I can find and use them
Yea,but they they seem to go back to where they came from 😜
I play the AVX when it’s windy. Them seem to cut through the wind pretty well. Maybe not as long as ProV1 but more predictable when I’m playing links 🇬🇧
They are a bit lower in backspin off the driver than the ProV1. And much less spin off the wedge.
I bought the Maxflis on sale for $17.50/dz. Bought 10 boxes! 😁 Best ball I've played in a long time.
Wow where did you get such a great deal?
Been using Maxfli for a while as well.... good deals can be had at Dicks.
@@imxploring love the new maxfli balls. Used to play the Maxfli HT'S when they first went to urethane. Then they screwed it up when they went to the Black Max. Now they seem to have gotten back on the right track again. The best deal I found at Dicks was two dozen for $50.
The Bottom Line is what makes you happy with your Ball, if your scoring well and hitting the distance you want there is no need to change. I've been Happy with the Callaway Chrome Soft....Very good ball....
