Not bad for a first trip there.
I know there are some bigger fish in there. I missed a couple of em 🤦♂️
Nice Video
Love this kind of winter fishing and ESMD is loaded with ponds like that
Also admire your skill and patience getting the guy out of that tree! I’d have broken him off for sure
Thanks brother. I often wish I lived on that side of the bay. You could spend years upon years upon years and still only scratch the surface of the many waters over there.
Another awesome video!
Thanks brother! Hoping to get out this weekend for em, but man, that wind lol
Great videshow!
Thanks Willey!
Good stuff! Who says you can't catch fish in the winter? What size should the minnows be for catching pickerel? Should they be snakehead destroyers, or something closer to crappie fishing size?
Work tells me no fishing all the time regardless of season 🤦♂️😂
For minnow size, I like the destroyers. The only time I’ll go smaller is for perch, especially white perch.
@@KambotroutFishing speaking of white perch, I've already started to catch some spawners in the upper parts of rivers.
What pants do you run this time of year? Also any new kayak mods or gear for ‘24?
I have some waterproof pants I usually wear this time of year, but later in the year they’ll be PFG pants. Lightweight and keeps the sun and bugs off.
Mods are coming but aren’t don’t yet. Adding a trolling motor, lights, and installing the transducer in the Hobie
Nice! How do you keep the bobber from sliding down to the hook?
These floats have spring loaded hooks at the top and bottom which hold the line in place under pressure. Anything aside from the strongest pressure on the float itself cannot cause it to slide up and down the line.
OK, I thought you only had it clipped on one side of the bobber. @@KambotroutFishing
@@underdogoutdoors sometimes I’ll do that, but when I do I’ll usually wrap it 2-3 times and that helps. It’ll out some memory in any line that isn’t braid though.
Do you think side imaging is worth it out of the kayak in such shallow conditions?
My answer is yes, but it depends on the structure.
I still consider myself a novice when it comes to electronics and fishing. One thing I haven’t learned how to mitigate is the confusion that comes from pad fields.
For me, it’s really difficult to find fish in pad fields or reliably tell the difference between a patch of pads and a school of fish.
In more open water, no problem, but around a lot of pads, pretty useless. But I have a long way to go.
