Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
I would like to see these videos done on bodies of water that aren't private ponds... Hell, you can catch pond bass on anything shiny, but it's quite different in a public lake or river.
@@blakebloodstorm3482 just to let you know LOL he buys the bass to stock his pond I do the same for my baby pond behind the house but I fish public water bc that’s an actual sport
I always use the 2 second rule. Once that fish hits the bait, I count 1001, 1002 then set the hook. It's hard to not set it IMMEDIATELY, but after I started doing that trick I have landed 95% of bass on a frog
See I have the other problem where I think I’m waiting to long and it’s like they hit it, I get a huge blow up and I always miss them? I’m probably waiting to long right
What this man doesn’t mention is first, there’s a dock right in the middle of the pond and secondly he’s fishing a farm pond that nobody else is fishing....
Cliff Burrows because this will make a lot of ppl feel like they are doing some wrong when they go to a public river and there’s tons of ppl fishing so the bite is slower
I'd rather catch fish in a farm pond than fight for space to stand along side every Tom, Dick and Harry from the city that keep every fish they catch regardless of limits and size restrictions while leaving their garbage all over the place. But yeah at least you're "working" for em 😉
A shorter rod has benefits too. For Shore fishing I use a longer rod, 7'3" heavy power, for longer casting distance. For my boat I use a shorter 6'6" heavy power rod. I feel like I'm more accurate and can actually work the bait better with the shorter rod
Rips the fish's face of with an absurdly violent and unnecessary hookset, holds the fish horizontally, potentially dislocating it's lower jaw so it can't eat and starves to death, and then throws the fish back in from 5 feet above the water, effectively shocking the fish more than it already is. nice.
Yeah, not the overly nature loving type but fishing can and will effect the fish and the habitat to a degree. You should at least make sure your not harming the fish for no reason trust me they will starve themselves if over pressured or harmed it's not good for them and it's not good for you (in the long run) or the coming generations if we wish for them to have the same experiences as we do. If you like fishing by all means do it but don't leave trash behind, the best thing you can do is leave with more trash than you came with people will notice especially on private lakes and ponds you will find they happily let you back and very well may put a good word in for you to a close friend who has a pond of their own. What every you are doing or where ever you are you should always be a respectful guest.
thats not true because you have to take your knowledge of your areas and lakes and rivers. if you know the time of the year take every tip he gave you and go when its overcast like this guy did on the pond. i promise you these will work. my problem is i fish the frog to fast and ive only ever had 1 blow up. ima force myself to fish it like i did my poppers and spooks in fall.
I disagree with being discreet on the cast I get maybe 2 out of 5 fish on just the splash of the cast alone before I even get a chance to twitch or start walking it. Best thing to do is cast and let the frog sit completely still until the ripples dissipate before moving the frog , thank me later when the fish blows up on it before you even got a chance to do anything.
"Show you how essential having strong equipment is". Well I guess spinning reels are good for 100 pound tarpon but must not be strong enough for a bass lol
A fast gear rachio and strong braid is important when your frog fishing but you don’t need a 7’ 6’’ heavy action you can just use a medium heavy but definitely don’t go medium action of softer you need at least a medium heavy action rod and definitely that fast tip
im a youngster and new to the bass fishing game but i do know that the frog is hooked in a way were its weedless meaning it cant get caugh in weeds, its very hard to get a hook up on a bass with the frog so u better be hard so u dont rip it out of the fishs mouth
Isaiah Zamora hardly though. You might get a weed here or there but it stays pretty seedless still. You don’t bend them out that much. It really helps hook up ratios.

Dude I use a spinning reel and a 6'7 rod and kill it while frogging equipment ??? Helps but don't really think I miss fish maybe the little ones but the big guys always inhale the frog
Letting them eat it is for sure one of the most important ones, I was pond fishing a well stocked pond in late evening in Louisiana, I would get a hit every time I threw it up close to the bank and around cover, but I got in the habit of trying to set the hook too soon, when I realized I outta let em get a better bite I started hooking them. They love hearing that frog pop across the water lol, the noise gets their attention a lot better than I thought
I see this often when they set there hook with the frog it helps if they bend there hooks up a little it will make it less seedless but set is 70% more lily to land
Farm ponds are so consistent.. where I live in Massachusetts, we have spots like this.. u gotta know a guy who knows a guy who u have to call in advance.. so he can meet you to let you in the locked gate! First 5 times I went The Kid I was with had me blindfolded, smart I get it.. Then I was swarn into this elite group of folks allowed to fish his land.. all I can say is that it's South Shore, deep Massachusetts... Old Town!
Another bonus tip use pliers to pull that hook up alittle more then it is so you get better hook sets it'll make it alittle less weedless but itll still be weedless and you will get better hook sets
I've had zero issues pulling 2lb bass from thick cover with my ultra light spinning setup with 4lb test line, you just don't need to yank them out of the water like you do
Well I watched a video from another pro who said that for most situations you want to use a medium heavy power fast action rod, he said most people miss strikes with the heavier stuff . Mike Iconelli said to use a spinning reel even. Seems like there are many ways to do this.
I agree with you on certain points, but you don't need to run braided line or a bait caster reel. I use a spinning reel and mono line and it works just fine.
@@josheaster1960 yeah for sure, you can catch descent fish with 10 lb line if you know how to fish correctly and aren't ripping the heads off the fish you catch.
I run braided line on baitcasters because there is zero memory in the line which helps avoid the birds nests associated with them. And i do know how to properly adjust baitcasters according to lure weight and wind conditions. Also I mainly use my baitcasters for top water in heavy cover. It gives a better hookset, but more importantly, when i do hook a fish, the braided line is very abrasion resistant and allows me to land the fish and release it safely, unlike mono which would have a tendency to break under those conditions and the fish swim away with a hook imbedded in it.
6:56 Looks like he just gave us the middle finger.... LOL I know that he really did not mean that and was trying to hand gester a number 1 but I had a small laugh on how he did it. LMAO
Baitcaster Tip: If you cast right handed, you should have a left handed reel. I bet you reel left handed with a spinning rod! Make your outfits consistent and save time after your casts without having to switch hands. This helps with Spinnerbaits and baits your want to hit the water soft and start swimming right away.
I cast right handed. All my spinning gear is left hand retrieve. However, all my baitcasters are right hand retrieve. It just feels more balanced that way to me. Never had an issue , and i catch fish all the time. I write left handed, but throw right handed. I shoot left handed with rifles, left and right with pistols, and am very consistent with shot placement. I golf right handed. My friends say I'm "screwed up" 🙄

All the bigger rods I have are only 7foot but I manage to get the job done sometimes lol the first time I tried frog fishing I used a 6’6 ugly stick with a bass pro series bait caster (cheaper one) and I didn’t know much so I had 15 pound fluorocarbon and I caught my first ever frog fish on the California delta with that setup and I caught a couple more three pounders but I did hook a big one and she dug me deep in some cattails but yeah I bumped up lol to 65lbs braid but I still rock the 7ft but I have some abu Garcia’s now and one new bass pro tournament series reel also the cheaper version but this one is actually really nice shockingly but I’m hitting the delta sometime this week and I’m looking to frog so wish me luck lol
I fished for 3-4 weeks in retention ponds around Jacksonville trying to catch my first large mouth, on the 4th or 5th spot I tried I had fished all day with nothing, after magic hour had come n gone with nothing, suns setting behind the trees at this point, I decided to cast one more time with my frog. I cast that frog as hard and high as I could, almost straight up over the center of the pond, it hanged in the air in free fall for a good 3,4 seconds before disappearing under the surface of the water, all day the frog had been making this “plop” sound when it hit the water, not this time, this time it just disappeared as soon as it made contact, my spool started screaming and next thing I knew I had a fish jumping and dancing across the top of the water. I’ve fished saltwater all my life, mostly inshore, never caught a fish that jumped out the water like that so it was one hell of an experience. After I took a photo of it and thanked the fish for the fight I let it go, well I decided “One More Cast” after my “final cast” why not, I do exactly what I did before, casted as hard and high as I could so the frog had lots of hang time, right as it went to hit the water and make that cliche “plop” sound it once again disappeared and bam, fish on… Two large mouth back to back at the very end of the day, good stuff. Oh on the second one he was dancing on the top of the water with his tail shaking his head back and forth when suddenly I saw my bright green frog lure go flying up the line, my heart skipped a beat because I thought the fish through the hook, but he had simply destroyed my frog lure to the point it came off the hook, poor thing was shredded after that fish, ended up throwing it away after that, he was a good soldier who did his job.
i never get a bass on this, pikes all the time but for some reason its working like mad BUT they come off the hook most of the time cuz i drag them over the grass and i feel like hooks are too small

Good info, thanks.
When I think of walking I always walk with a pimp limp, cause one leg shorter is always better!
Great video thank you
Great video! Thanks for the tips 🤗
Good fishing. What spinning test?
I was not expecting to need 65lb braid i run 50lb on my surf poles i thought i was doing too much with 20lb on my freshwater pole lol
This is my favorite way to bass fish by far. Then comes Ned rig for do nothing easy fishing.
After I took a photo of it and thanked the fish for the fight I let it go, well I decided “One More Cast” after my “final cast” why not, I do exactly what I did before, casted as hard and high as I could so the frog had lots of hang time, right as it went to hit the water and make that cliche “plop” sound it once again disappeared and bam, fish on…
Two large mouth back to back at the very end of the day, good stuff.
I’m never able to set the hook with frogs.
I really like that tip to cast onto the bank
