20 Years ago I had an ek VTI and it had an air box in the bumper area it's there to cool the air down a bit before it enters the manifold. I removed it to fit an aftermarket performance filter on and afterwards noticed it was lacking low down torque because it was sucking In warm air from the engine bay, once moving and above 20mph it don't matter so much.
Niiiice ek’s are dope man. Hopefully I can build one one day. Yeah when I had my civic it was taking in warm air with the aftermarket intake but it was fine. I got it for sound. Eventually I got a Mishimoto intercooler and boy did it make a huge difference
I had one and it sounded amazing exactly like fast and furious. But it popped off bc i ran 21-24psi of boost and ig I didn’t put the snap ring on good enough
@@tagallstar I sure do appreciate that but it's all good, I only got my civic a few months ago so I'll eventually get it, also still figuring out what I want the car to be
You should have removed the air box that was right under the oem intake since you don't need it anymore its just a useless piece taking up space. I just took mine out by cutting it in half after undoing a couple bolts to pull it out so I didn't have to get under the car to get it
@@tagallstar I did the same thing when I installed an hks intake on my girls civic and ended up going back in there later to get it out. And nooo what's the next project car😭
It probably did. I never paid much attention to it other than the fact that it makes the engine hiccup in between fast shifts, because the car is setup to recirculate the air back into the turbo. I just got the bov for sound, but I didn't run it long.
You have a point about the intake being metal but why is a louder blow off valve a problem 🤔 it's sole purpose is to take the load off the turbo when the throttle is suddenly closed. Having a louder one won't affect anything Lol 🤣
@@Mach1Chriss well since the car has a mass air flow sensor instead of a map sensor, honda tuned and setup the engine to recirculate the unused boost pressure back into the turbo. So when I add a bov it just sends that air into the atmosphere. And without a tune, they say the bov causes the car to go into a lean and rich condition when u get off throttle. Which is bad as they say
@@Mach1Chriss I’ve ran my car with and without the bov several times and it hasn’t given me any problems nor changed the cars response or power. Runs great and sounds good. Also bc of the “bad” rich lean condition it makes pops and bangs in between shifts if u have a muffler delete
@@tagallstar th-cam.com/video/374hdPV4Vbo/w-d-xo.html check this out from the honda guru himself hahah 🤣 he even turned up the boost and still no change in fueling. You have to believe in the honda engineers hahah
These are known to throw off fuel trims, cause rich conditions and eventually throw dash codes. These are NOT recommended for the Civic. The 1.5T is not designed to vent to air. Pretty much everyone who buys these ends up taking them off. Between that and the intake he installed I don’t think his car would be running smooth. Breathing in hot air and dumping fuel is a bad combination.
@@marcusmcneal7453 a blowoff valve affects fuel trims 🤣😂 explain how a pressure release system thats purpose is to take the load off the turbo affects fuel please hahah. If anything its the intake due to the car having more air and not enough fuel which would affect the air to fuel ratio. The blow off valve doesn't mess with anything fuel, spark, or timing. It simply releases boost when the throttle body closes.
@@Mach1Chriss Because you’re venting air from what’s supposed to be a closed pressure sensitive system. The air that is intended to recirculate is lost with a BOV. Your ECU works by calculating that air being there and dumps fuel accordingly. Without that air you now run rich and you’ve lost pressure, so the engine has to suck in more air to compensate too. Now your A/F ratio is constantly bouncing between lean and rich. This is super inefficient for the engine and runs the risk of burning out your cat, fouling your spark plugs, or causing engine knock. Go to the forums and search up BOV issues for this engine. Nothing but trouble, especially when you’re tuned. A good intake already makes a blow off noise. These things are just a waste of money and fuck up your car.
@@marcusmcneal7453 bro you underestimate the map and pressure sensor. Hahaha they do a good job at recalculating that air to fuel ratio.
