    I ran torque solutions and it does sound great but I was getting some odd readings in knock control and fuel trim running this. I really like the BOV sound so I am gonna try out the XS 50/50 even is it is quieter than Torque Solutions is fine because yea the Torque Solutions sound plate gives of a loud PHSST!! between shifts and I did not see any boost leakage running a tune up to 20 PSI. It think my issues were more with metered air all being vented to atmo.

    • @JP_Stone
      @JP_Stone 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryanboris6978 If you want a good BOV sound for your Civic I would go with the TurboXS Hybrid BV. I installed that and have had 0 Issues. You get the same quality sound as the plate but it still lets most of the boost recirculate so its not gonna trip any codes. Honestly If you want to keep using the sound plate it probably will not cause serious harm to the engine or Turbo but the engine does not like it sometimes and is expecting the access boost to be recirculated so the ECU might freak out a little and adjust fuel trims and other parameters to compensate for what it sees as an abnormal condition.

    @DmanGuitar327 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So the red adapter plate. Is that a 100% vent to atmosphere or does it recirculate a little bit since its retaining oem bypass valve?
    So many ppl saying its bad, but during the shift you are at 0% throttle.. so i dont see it melting cylinder walls like people think it will.. as for the cat, once you put an exhaust on the cat wont be there.. also if you change oil every 5000km, how could there be an issue?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The adapter plate is 100% VTA. I would lean towards agreeing with your thoughts. Let's just say that turbo platforms with MAF sensors have been running VTA valves for a LONG time now and although the fact that it's not ideal has always been the case, it just hasn't been a big deal across platforms, overall. Go for it. As far as changing the oil goes, if there actually was fuel in the oil, it could get bad pretty quickly. Bearings are very sensitive and if the lubricant they need is a little off from being able to do it's job, it's not good. That being said, I just can't imagine a mass amount of cars are suffering, even modified. But that's just my guess. Honda has even stated the fuel dilution problem is so rare, but they are applying their fix to all qualifying owners to give them piece of mind.

    • @DmanGuitar327
      @DmanGuitar327 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EdgeAutosport can you give me a link on where you said honda is giving affected owners a fix for peace of mind?
      Claims make no sense.. because your 100% off throttle when shifting.. so the motor is under 0 load , so how would it enriching for a split second do anything other than hurt the cat which shouldnt be there anyway.. were talking minuute amounts of extra fuel,stock injectors only squirt a small amount to begin with. So long term i doubt it would wash out a cylinder or a anything.. ive never worried about afr before..
      Car is 2018 si so i believe it suffers from that.. any modification untuned will throw air/fuel off.. even an intake.. what if the intake allows so much air that the MAF can only provide a certain reading giving the most fuel .. in that case youd need to probably delete the maf sensor through a tune ? Then it would be getting correct fuel for the more air coming in ..

      A valve should not affect the AFRs that the car is running while in gear and under load, as long as it's working properly. There will be a rich spot in between shifts but we have not found that to be a huge problem on other cars we've worked with. It causes pops and bangs at times but it's not that big of a deal in our opinion. It's technically not the proper way to run your valve, but some people like noises, so they get stuff that makes noise.

    • @darkknight097
      @darkknight097 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, a bov is bad for these cars because what we have is a recirculating valve. When you change that to a bov, the ECU will be expecting air that will no longer be there cause it's being vented to atmosphere, throwing off the air fuel ratio. Short term, you wont notice it but long term it will have bad affects.
      If you go to civicx.com, this is documented with dozens of different SI owners. Even Boomba themselves stopped advertising that bov on the civicx and instead started advertising their recirculating valve.

    10th gens are actually not strictly MAF. The MAF has provisions for speed density (MAP) as well. So, get a tuner and you won't have to worry about damaging the car, and the system will now run as intended with a BOV vs BPV. Thats where I'm going. I have a boomba, but clicked on this to see if you had a TIAL BOV featured, but it appears they do not make one.

    • @benitoloco892
      @benitoloco892 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're running a vehicle without a catalytic converter (or cat in layman terms) in the exhaust, you might as well be asking for a check engine light and a serious/ catastrophic failure in the engine. Catalytic converters provide a basic/ vital function in the engine's exhaust to optimize fuel trim and reduce greenhouse emissions. I'm almost positive the 10th gen Civics have their cats as part of a one piece assembly with the cylinder head on the engine, making removal a bit useless and unnecessary.

      BOVs do not cause the car to "run rich", as in run rich all the time. It causes a rich condition in between shifts when the air is no longer there to match the fuel for a very quick moment. It's something that people have been doing on MAF sensor cars for a long time. Is it ideal? No. It's supposed to recirculate. But inevitably, people want to hear their BOV (we're not opposed to just a sound upgrade either). It's not really that big of a deal, in our opinion.
