I believe this is a 2011 Sauber C30. Either the engine has been replaced with something else, or it's running a very detuned V8 F1 engine. Sounds more like an LMP car than an F1 car.

yep Sauber C30 of the 2011 season. Thought of the Lotus 2011 car in the first place but the mirrors are a clear indication.

I think I remember seeing this very car at Goodwood last year, if I remember it has a replacement engine, as for events and stuff it is highly impractical to have to warm through the engine before use, and the cost and scarcity of spares for a geniune F1 engine. That's not exactly true. It changes with every new set of regulations and rules, some of the cars have 8 speeds with the first gear going to around 60mph, they do this to make sure the driver is always staying in the boost zone of his turbo, as the turbos used in f1 kick in very late, drivers have to stay at a high rpm throughout their corners to make sure they don't get taken out by turbo lag.
although I do have to agree with you that the exhaust sound is dubbed over, or tuned to have a much louder and pleasing note
