I went to high school with Ricky in Puerto Rico. To see him go from bumping his daily drive into another car in a parking lot by accident to driving an f1 car. This is crazy 😂. Te felicito Ricky, tremenda experiencia 🔥
He definitely got quite some simulator experience. This track is pretty hard tbh even in simulators and if he did not have experience there's no way he can use the curb as he did in the F1 car unless he's some sort of a genius
Can I just say its surreal to see the 2012 Lotus in the 2023 Alpine livery. I know theyre fundamentally the same team, but as far as anachronistic liveries on older cars this is probably the weirdest I've seen. Only weirder one I can think of right now would be like seeing the 1991 Jordan in the current Aston Martin livery since theres a team lineage there too.
Same, I think the biggest reason is because I loved the black and gold Lotus livery so much back then. Thought it was an excellent homage to the ‘80s JPS Lotus liveries.
Using a 1997 Stewart with the current RB livery would be funny too, as many would think it were a 1995 Sauber. 😅 That being said, an Ilmor/Mercedes-powered 1993 or 1994 Sauber in current Alfa Romeo livery would be amusing too, for obvious reasons. 😜

This just shows that there are many people out there that have potential to do this. They just haven't gotten a chance to show the world what they can do. This subscriber got that chance and drove that car like it was his last day on Earth. What a performance.
It’s hard for me to believe Ricky hadn’t had any previous track experience before this outing because wow he was actually pushing the F1 car! I’d be impressed by someone who drives that well even having had driven karts and even low powered single seaters for years. I tend to avoid playing the track because I’m always really poor at it. Man did incredibly well! Super cool that Scott put all this together with Alpine!
I would guess he does a lot of sim racing. I did a lot of sim racing with only a couple of sessions in karts mixed in, and during my first track day, the coaches didn't believe I had zero track experience. They said my lines, braking points, and smoothness with the brake/throttle were that of someone far more experienced. It was because I had driven the track with a similar car for hundreds of laps in iracing prior to the actual thing. Once I got past the initial fear of the stakes of it being real life and the forces on the body, it felt very much the same. I have a pretty high end rig with very dialed FOV on triples and a direct drive wheel, so I imagine that helps, but just repeating the lap over and over visually would help a ton. Still what Ricky did was a totally other level, I was completely wiped out after half a day on a track in a high performance road car, I cannot imagine doing 3 sessions in an F4 car followed by an F1 car.

Huge respect for all the people involved in this monumental operation. I can only imagine what it could be like to organize such an event with a person with no experience whatsoever. But on the other side this person was Ricky. Yes excited, yes a tad overconfident, yes he made some mistakes, but... c'mon, it's almost like jumping in a jet fighter cockpit and going full throttle. Well done Ricky, you lived your dream and part of ours. I was pushing with you on the straights. Thanks for this video. You all have the capacity to transmit the feelings of a real normal person driving an F1. I was surprised to hear how much he pushed. I don't know if I would be able to. I say it again: I was in the car with him and it was awesome.
This video should be at least 3 times longer! I would really love to see more insides from whole this preparations briefs and maybe some onboards at the end. BTW, could you share his application message? I also tried to apply for this, but never got any response back after - I wonder what was that drove your attention to him?
I'm shaking just watching his excitement! So glad someone got to live the dream!! Been saving for years to do this before I get married instead of having a bachelor party 🤣. Congratulations to Ricky and congratulations to the Driver61 team on all the hard work paying off ☺️👌.
*VERY COOL!!* Ricky did really well.... quite impressive. It would have been nice to see the speed and gear info on screen while he was driving on the track. Maybe next time you can add that. 👍
I'm amazed at this man's bravery to go for it with the E20 at the end after his earlier mistake. The material value of that car is probably worth more than the combined income of most people's entire lives, I'd be a nervous wreck to even go anywhere near the limit especially in those fast corners even at a track with this much runoff.
We always see F1 lap times vs normal cars on a track but I would like to see his best lap in the F1 car vs last year's pole lap. Congrats to him for doing a great job
Good to see an Average Joe get the experience of a lifetime and actually push the limit! The best part was to see him get comfortable with the drive and then let it all hang out there! Love it! ❤
I raced pro go-kart when I was younger and I dream with the Alpine single day program to drive a F1. People do not have the least notion of the forces involved in the difficulty in piloting an F1. They think it's glamor, work on the weekend ... go there try to see... Congratulations to Driver61 and the Subscriber! Fantastic video!
It isnt even "work on the weekend" anymore. Those F1 cars are self-driving for a couple of years now. It's just one big rigged circus, just to make money. Not convinced? Watch the last race of the year when Verstappen became WC for the first time again.
what an amazing thing to give to someone what a star and scott must be an amazing coach as ive watched f1 for 45 years ans seen these cars in private hands. not once have i seen anyone jump in an f1 car and drive it like this lad brilliant job
Sometimes I see people do cool stuff that I didn’t get to do and I feel a little jealous. This is not one of those times. This dudes absolute unbridled joy is infectious-I’m glad that Ricky, specifically, got to do this. That “THANK YOU SCOTT!” As he pulled out of the pit lane got me choked up!
Wow this is so awesome! I participated both times, hopefully I will get a shot at this, but I would be happy to see anyone of this community drive another F1 car
Daaamn, I really wanted to win this!! What an amazing experience and as for Ricky after the F4 I was thinking this guy doesn’t have a clue, but I’m happy to admit I was wrong and he looked alright in the Lotus/Renault F1 car, drove very respectably. Fair play
Good call from the engineers, must not have been an easy one to make after his mistake on that turn, but ultimately they gave him a chance because I think they saw he had some basic understanding of the forces involved. Beautiful video, great performance from Ricky, really well done, absolutely deserved it! More videos like this pls!
Around the 2nd F1 lap, the commentary sounds like it's heading for "he started to push a lot harder, but then disaster struck and he rammed a wall at 150mph" 😂 Might have actually been suspenseful if it wasn't for the competition to put another sub in the car, since if it got binned that would seem unlikely! Can't think of another channel that can match this sort of experience. Topping it for 2 million will be difficult...it'll either have to be 2 subs in F1 cars or something even crazier. If the channel ever hits 5 million, well you'll just have to get a subscriber into an F1 practice session in a current car...this is the only problem with setting the bar so high here 😁
Absolutely awesome video. I can't really even begin to imagine how Ricky must have felt.. but even just watching him experience that amazing machine gave me goosebumps and made me feel quite emotional. Kudos to you Scot and the team who made it all possible considering the huge risks involved... and huge congrats to Ricky on bringing it back to the pits in one piece. That was amazing, driving something like that is easily at the top of my bucket list.. and being a N/A car would make it 100 times more desirable to do than even the current cars. I'll need to start saving... sell both kidneys or win the lottery. Huge congrats for achieving 1 million subscribers... and thanks for making this incredible video, as a F1 fan.. this is what dreams are made of. Fantastic!
I was not the chosen one but I really enjoy this video and the face of Ricky is priceless. Thanks a lot Driver61 to bring this kind of experiences, congrats to Ricky and hopefully I’ll be the next one.
Watching this got me so fired up for Ricky! Just imagine never driving a single seater open wheel race car in your life and in a single day you get to drive an f4 car and a kimis f1 car from 2012. Unreal!!

Amazing video and amazing experience. I’m happy for Ricky. For the future videos: there’s no need to add the reality TV or DTS drama of “are they going to allow him to drive after the spin?”. Removing that would make it a greater video. Cheers!

THIS NEED TO BE A SERIES. LIKE A REALITY SHOW

That went far better than expected, props making it happen Scott.
you can clearly see he learnt quickly because he pulled the car to a non-professional driver limit, majestic
Good coaching and Ricky is a talented driver. Well done everyone.
Ricky setting out in the F1 car, even at start-up, gave me goosebumps - what an experience.
This has to be the coolest channel prize I’ve ever seen. What an opportunity
This is a life changing experience. Once in a lifetime, forever to tell your grandkids to tell the tales about. You've done amazing D61
This video should be at least 3 times longer! I would really love to see more insides from whole this preparations briefs and maybe some onboards at the end. BTW, could you share his application message? I also tried to apply for this, but never got any response back after - I wonder what was that drove your attention to him?
Money.
Well done Ricky, it was great to see you have this much fun while doing so well.
Absolutely stunning all round!!! Well done to everyone involved! Had goosebumps watching that!!!
I've been watching F1 for years and am still surprised at how intimidating that car is. Ricky did great as a first-timer!! Congrats!
Ricky is a legend. Amazing work everyone for making it happen!
Well done, Ricky Bobby! You made us all proud!
I'm shaking just watching his excitement! So glad someone got to live the dream!! Been saving for years to do this before I get married instead of having a bachelor party 🤣. Congratulations to Ricky and congratulations to the Driver61 team on all the hard work paying off ☺️👌.
Congrats on 1 million and to Ricky! I wouldn't be the same level of sim racer without you, so beyond deserved. Thanks for everything.
Watching him take some curb on the last lap actually had me cheering lol. Well produced video Sir
Love it! ❤
This was absolutely incredible to watch. Imagine how that must feel to be piloting an actual F1 car.
All thanks to you and your team for making his dreams come true. The video gave us lot of goosebumps and we felt the same excitement as Ricky!!
Wow this is so awesome! I participated both times, hopefully I will get a shot at this, but I would be happy to see anyone of this community drive another F1 car
Ricky is the hero we all didn't know we needed. Seeing his joy made Me very happy 😊. Scott you are a legend
Spot on
Daaamn, I really wanted to win this!! What an amazing experience and as for Ricky after the F4 I was thinking this guy doesn’t have a clue, but I’m happy to admit I was wrong and he looked alright in the Lotus/Renault F1 car, drove very respectably. Fair play
Would've been cool to know his time on the second lap, would tell a lot about just how much difference there is between a normal person and an Iceman
Fantastic!
Scott must have felt honored to provide and witness Ricky's first F1 experience just like when a baby is born or when a daughter gets married.
What a great gift to give fan! Enjoyed the video, and congrates and great job to Ricky!
His excitement is truly wonderful and contagious! 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
I was not the chosen one but I really enjoy this video and the face of Ricky is priceless. Thanks a lot Driver61 to bring this kind of experiences, congrats to Ricky and hopefully I’ll be the next one.
Definitely not believing this guy has never drove a single seater before
If you didnt tear up a bit when he was screaming on the radio THANK YOU SCOTT 3 times, you dont know how much this just means to us Formula 1 fans
I felt so happy for him oh my god, what an incredible thing you've done for that man, he'll never forget this experience!
Watching this got me so fired up for Ricky! Just imagine never driving a single seater open wheel race car in your life and in a single day you get to drive an f4 car and a kimis f1 car from 2012. Unreal!!
"Pulls away absolutely flawlessly" Gives himself whiplash
That was pretty exciting to watch. I could feel the nerves of this guy... I imagine I'd too would be nervous driving a 10M EU car that revs to 18K and is historically significant. Such a cool video from a contest winner.
Honestly I would be extremely happy just driving the F4😂
OUTSTANDING Ricky !! what an amazing feeling that must have been - well done Driver 61 , making dreams come true !!
We gotta get the post-drive reaction
Amazing video and amazing experience. I’m happy for Ricky.
For the future videos: there’s no need to add the reality TV or DTS drama of “are they going to allow him to drive after the spin?”. Removing that would make it a greater video.
Cheers!
I almost cried watching him drive the f1 car, his happiness was contagious :D
That was brilliant. An absolute dream of mine to do that. Well done all involved 🎉
I was selected in the last 20 shortlisted so watching this brought me both joy and a bit of pain 😂.
Congratulations to Scott and all the team! And to Ricky too, i rooted for him the whole time, what a performance!
That was great!! Very Lucky! That was one hell of an experience... Superb!!
