✅ 1 - Very very comfortable shoes!
Have you seen the roads in Rome? To wear heels here you must be born in Rome and start practicing running on your heels since you are a teenager.
So my advice here - trainers! Or good and comfortable walking shoes.
✅ 2 - if you are going to Italy summer time remember 2 main things:
1 - best time to go to Italy in summer would be May, first half of June and September onwards
2 - when you go to Italy summer time: always remember to have:
✅ hat
✅ sunglasses
✅ sunscreen
And also have a bottle with you!
You don’t need to buy drinking water in Rome for example, there are more than 2,500 drinking fountains, known as nasoni, which provide residents and visitors with free fresh water all year round.
✅ 3 - Churches and restaurants in Italy have dress codes.
As a general rule, Italians care deeply about clothing and appearance.
Long sleeves shirts or blouses and skirts or long trousers are a good idea-and they do double-duty at the nicer restaurants, where you can’t get in with shorts, flip-flops, and other casual clothing you might bring on vacation.
✅ 4 - RIPOSO in Italy is a beautiful thing
Chiuso means “closed” in Italian-and that’s exactly what just about everything will be during riposo, the afternoon rest.
Lots of business in Italy, including some big supermarkets and pharmacies- will be closed on Sunday!
✅ 6 - Observe the Ten Commandments of coffee
A standard greeting in Italy is prendiamo un caffe - care for a coffee? Italians love coffee that much. Therefore, when in Italy, it’s important to observe the customs and accord it the proper respect.
For example:
🔹 Milky coffee is only for mornings
🔹 Don’t ask for an espresso, that’s the default when you ask for un caffe
🔹 Take your coffee standing up at the bar
🔹 Keep it simple.
✅ 7 - Coffee and pastry-it’s what’s for breakfast in Rome
The Italian breakfast is un caffe, or perhaps a cappuccino or caffe latte, with a cornetto (the Italian version of a croissant), crostata (a jam-filled buttery breakfast tart), or doughnut.
✅ 8 - A "Bar" in Italy Isn't a "Bar" in the UK or the US
In the UK similar to the US, a bar is where you drink beer and cocktails. In Italy, a bar is where you get coffee. Most Italians stand up to drink their coffee because it's cheaper than sitting down at a cafe.
✅ 9 - There’s no such thing as an early dinner in Italy
Italians are late eaters. It’s a fact of life that works extremely well with their passion for long, leisurely meals. On the other hand, if you’re used to lunch at noon and dinner at 6 pm, you’re going to be sadly out of sync in Italy.
✅ 9 - PAYMENT in Italy
Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions. But not everyone takes credit cards, especially for small purchases like a coffee or souvenir.
❎ 10 - ranch dressing on your salad
Italy has an amazing food culture and you’ll eat some incredible dishes-but there are certain rules you should observe when dining out.
How you dress your salad is one of them: Always just olio e aceto - olive oil and vinegar.
Just go with the food rules-Italians have been making incredible food for thousands of years. So when in Italy, just eat like an Italian.

Roma is immortal
I love the way northern Europeans always warn against going somewhere during a time when the temperature will be 30c+, as if nobody has ever dealt with those type of temperatures before.
Rise it up to 40°C maybe higher... What she said it's a medical advice that you hear even on TV during summer trust me 😅
Planing to go to Italy for my second time with my wife and kids 1 and 4 years , would be easy to have fun !! And where are those Italian places for good not expensive shopping 😅, and thnx so much for the video so helpful 👍

A wonderful video. Thank you so much for your expertise! My mother visited Rome and mentioned that it was absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. We will be in Rome in mid May and staying in an apartment close to the Panthenon. Do you have a favorite restaurant in that part of town we should try for dinner? Thank you!!
Welcome to Rome 🤗 enjoy your stay ☺️ all my absolute favourite, authentic places are listed in my Travel to Rome guide 😉 allgoglobal.com
Thank you for your expertise and Italy advise. In your expertise, I want to learn Italian, before i go to Italy in September, want do you recommend to learn and speak, thank you, ciao.
Great video for first timers! Italians are some of the most friendly people to tourists in Europe!
Thank you very much 🤗🤗🤗 I’m happy you enjoyed it ☺️
Absolutely! They are very friendly indeed 🙂
- GOOD CONTENT, IM COMING TO ROME TO SHOOT THE BEST COFFEE SHOPS
Shops are not closed in early afternoon for resting, that's NOT a siesta.
It is simply a way to limit working hours to a reasonable number, since most shops are very small and cannot afford to pay lots of extra hours or additional employees. Proof of that is that bigger companies such as supermarkets are open all day long.
Great one! Thank you very much Stefano 🤗
But still in Palau in Sardegna even the supermarkets were closed from 2pm to 4pm ....
I was explained that they do have riposo in small places, and don’t usually work those hours of the day. Is this correct? ☺️
Yes, it depends very much on the area. You may also consider that, if in that time frame almost nobody is around, what's the point of staying open? It's better to save working hours for the moment they're actually needed. For example, in many touristic places in summer, shops are open after dinner, because people go out for a passeggiata. Basically the whole thing is just a different daily schedule for people's activities, compared to other places.
@@smtuscany that’s true! In places like Rome and Milan lots of clothes shops will stay open on Sunday till late - I’m checking it right now 😁
But still, even designers stores here are closing day time and re-open again at 4pm. While lots of tourists are queueing around The Pantheon.. in August.. with +36 😉
I really don’t know how some people can do this 😁 I’m just a big fan of riposo myself when it’s this hot 😉
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel
I agree with you 💯
I myself notice this because I was working in W. F. P Head Quartier in Rome
The guys at 10.45, so cute 😂
Been in Rome Five times. Go in the off season or better yet the shoulder season and know how much a cab ride should cost you as the cabbies will smile and screw you on the fare. The Antiquites are par excellence and walking at night brings so much of this to life. The window displays of stores are truly artistic but its expected that you dont just window shop. Stay far away from the gypsies and of course secure your valuables. As I remember there are tons of hotels near Termini but there is a good side and a bad side. Stay away from the bad side. Just my two cents. Ciao. PS The Gelato is the best you will have.
Great video Anna! I always believe that we always have to respect the local customs and law. I had personally really enjoyed Rome seeing the local people following their customs and I followed them through it, very interesting and beautiful. Great work, I have to say again Anna!
Thank you so much Paraudi 🤗🤗
I’m happy you liked this one too 🙂
Any plans to travel to Italy or Norway soon? 😉
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel Well I am in Oslo at the moment, my next flight will be to Reykjavik!
@@pataudi8025 🤩🤩🤩 how Oslo? Is Norway much better now?
I’m coming back in September ☺️ can’t wait!
Wow! Reykjavik? That’s amazing! Holiday or work? 🙂
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel Oslo is great, has been rainy a bit. Reykjavik is for work, but of course I'll have a 2 day off and I'll have some time to look around the city!
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel As for the reference to Covid cases Oslo hasn't reported any.
Anna, thank you so much for the tips. Visiting Rome for the first time for a few days prior to our cruise. We need a antigen test to board ship. We're staying near the Tremini train station. Any suggestions where we can have this done?
Find a pharmacy. Some of them do Covid tests. Its 11 euros. We did the same thing and am on the cruise now.
This channel is hilarious 😂 😃 I'd be so shame!!💯😆😅
Ciao, Anna. A couple of observations. Regarding pharmacies being closed on Sunday, while in Venezia, my traveling companion was in need of medication for cramps. I learned from the gentleman running the pensione where we were staying, that there was always one pharmacy open. He checked in the local newspaper and discovered the designated pharmacy was just down the street. The other thing about pharmacies is that at least one of the pharmacists on duty is a doctor. So when I explained the problem, the pharmacist provided the needed medication on the spot. This is both handy and reasonable. Regarding indoor dining, this goes back 25 years, so I don't know how things are today. We did not know that smoking in restaurants was common. While enjoying dinner, we were soon surrounded by tables of smokers. We ended up bolting down our meal to keep from suffocating, and received disapproving stares for appearing to not savor our meal. From that point forward, we chose to dine only when an al fresco option was available. Grazie, e buona fortuna.
Anna, I just found your channel. I am headed to Rome next week for a month. Will I be able to order a coffee or dinner at a restaurant without knowing Italian ?
Hi Anna, Thanks for your channel. We (me, my wife and my 13 yrs old daughter) will be visiting Italy for the first time. We are coming from Toronto, Canada to Rome round trip in mid Jan for 2 weeks, would like to visit Venice and other places as well. Please recommends anything would be greatly appreciated.
It's better to check the blogs she's stealing content from! LOL
We are dying to know the souerces of your very complicated (and charming) accent. Our guesses include a mix of Russian, Norwegian, and British English - and possibly German.
We also love your emnergy and capacity for fun.
What is first 2 weeks in march like in Rome for weather. Are you masking
Greetings from NO VAY" it's COMING ROME" SHALOM
I don’t think I got your comment, can you rephrase please? 🙂
I travelled a few days in Italy. It's not easy to adopt to the italian codes in a few days but one can learn bit by bit. I do agreed with Anna. In Italy it is recommended that you eat italian. Every country I visit, I eat their local food. You won't believe. I was in the shabbiest restaurant in Asia. The restaurant had absolute no commercial potential. The locals ate there. I was the first white man ever to visit them. The owner sat with my table while I had my meal. In England I ate English breakfast. Not continental. In Europe, Italy is one of few countries it is hard to find food from other cultures. Italian food is a treasure. If you feel lost, just ask and follow the local traditions and you'll be fine. They just want the best for you and believe me, they won't disappoint you.
Thank you so much ☺️🤗🤗 I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
I totally agree with you! When travelling its so good to enjoy real authentic local food ☺️
Honestly I don’t really get people who are ordering American breakfast in Italy 🙄 maybe I just don’t get it 🙂
do you think if March is too cold to Rome? thanks for your prompt reply
silly question - when you finish your dish, should you leave it at the table? more especially if you dine outside. Also how would you know whether you should ask for the bill or go to the register?
Great video! I'm from Rome, if you want to know some secret places around let me know :)
I do
Ciao
You are all welcome! ❤
Do you have a cheap hotel ( 140 € / night) to recommend in Trastevere please ? We are going to Rome 19th May, Grazie, love your vlog ❤🇮🇹
The drinking fountain at 3:30. Where is that one located?
I’m going I September and this is the video I need to learn a lot! I do have a question, what’s the best type of credit card to bring to Italy! Is the American Express accepted, visa, etc?
Visa and Mastercard is the most common accepted credit. Some places will take Amex but not all places accept it.
😍
How is the weather likes in the begening of november.
Tk u
Any tips on where do restaurant for locals?
What are the best hotel to stay in Rome? Thx
Anna you look soo cute 🥰
Nap time its the same in Argentina were im from lol
As stated on the other video, i'm Italian. And, to my "horror", i've found out like licterally DECADES AGO that some of my friends will put cheese onto pasta with fish / seafood . . . Besides my friends, people doing so are a relative minority, but (above all in zones distant from sea) you could find folks "spicing" their Parmigiano or Grana or whatever over their seafood pasta. To each his/ her own, i guess . . .
How your voice is clear while walking on street. . Are you using mic? And which tripod u r using to hold camera while blogging?
Hi madam
salt oil and winegar, don't forget the salt
Salve.
Il riposo non sembra d'essere osservato tanto in Roma, non come a una volta
Bel video pero
A proposito lo sappiamo che se ti alontani da ponte Umberto il cibo e` piu gustoso.
Grazie.
I love your videos.
Is this recent? I don't see anyone wearing masks in the background? May you share with us the situation there in connection to this pandemic?
Wearing masks outside is not required anymore in Italy, although it is still necessary inside shops, offices, etc.
@@smtuscany ok. Thank you for your response
Hello my lovely friend
What is the best way to meet people to explore Italy with? I'm about to move there for work. I've never been, and I don't speak Italian currently. I'm worried that I'll spend a lot of time just exploring Rome and everything else on my own.
Well... If you're going to work in a mixed team with Italian people it's easy, they will probably take care of you :) Otherwise there are expats groups like Expats living in Rome on facebook; they do lot of activities and there are italians too (I'm subscribed). You can ask me everything here or add me on Facebook if you want. :)
Can you tell me what month it is in this video? The crowds seem to be sparse and that's what I'm looking for. Is March a good time to visit Rome?
During pandemic 😉☺️ it will never happen again 😆
March? Close to Easter? The worst!! All catholic world will be coming to Rome 🙂
Right after is the best 😉

Thanks again Anna. Very interesting. Pineapple belongs on pizza though, we can have a debate... Love from South Africa again. Be safe
Lol. You can't say pineapple belongs to pizza to Italians !!! LOLLOLLOL That's like you're saying chili sauce should be on sushi to Japanese !! Or coffee & sushi !! I am Japanese ! 🤣💜🥁🐉🎤💞
@@spark_6710 but you can add chilli to sushi. Not coffee.

Do you suggest getting euros when you arrive in Italy or getting them prior to the trip?
Thanks
One can learn the classic italian seeing on life, by a very old traditional roman song (stornello)
It says: "Ma che ce frega, ma che c'emporta, se l'oste ar vino, j'ha messo l'acqua; e noi je dimo, e noi je famo: c'hai messo l'acqua e non te pagamo"
Literally: "what shall we mind of this, we don't care; if the barman has put water in the wine; we say to him, we act so: you have put the water and we'll not pay
🤩🤩🤩 thats a great one!
Thank you 🤗
the only thing I would adivece against are too low shoes during summer. the streets are boiling hot and if you walk it will become unbearable
14:25 In Rome i had "focaccia bread" = "pizza bianca", with chicken salad inside. But never you Will See chicken topping a pizza anyway.
More, Chicken with pasta never seen in My 48 Years spent in Italy.
Hi sister
look like the locals.?. . Lets me know . how do the royals do it ... please 🥺❤
Rest.... it depend where you live. We have never doing that where I live.
Are distress jeans allowed in restaurants and churches?
Hello my lovely friend
Hi are there any gondola rides in Rome at all
you can find gondole only in Venezia...
😂😂
do you need booster shot for Italy travel if your second shot is way past 6 months?
As far as I know there’s no check anymore. It might change in the future but for now you don’t need to show your vaccination certificate when you travel to Italy 🙂
Thank you
What if you only drink tea? never coffee
Go to England ☺️ it’s there culture 😁
