Doing My First Self-Portrait in Gouache on Paper

In this video I combine two of my favorite things: portraits and gouache. I had a really good time exploring the proportions of the face. I attempted to do a grid, as I usually just look at a reference photo and then draw from what I see. I do think it turned out better with a grid. Have I been doing it wrong the whole time?!?
Gouache is a medium I am still exploring, but I love most paint mediums. And gouache has definitely reserved a little space in my heart.
This is the first time I have ever tried to do a self-portrait.
