I'm a 73 y o retired teacher who always worked with acrylics but not once have I tried watercolors. So, I got brave and bought a pallet and brushes but they just sat there x 2 months. I’m not new to your channel or to watercolor, but I haven’t seen this video before. My goodness, you are the goddess of zen. You’re the Mr. Rogers of painting. Thank you! Plus, everything was beautiful.
I'm pretty sure Bob Ross has been reigning "Mr. Rogers of painting" champ for about 40 years now, and, despite him being dead, I somehow doubt he's going to give it up easily.
I painted watercolors since age of 6 and won many prizes till high school every year. Then I did a bot of oil painting, even Bob Ross style taught at my local hobby lobby. Left painting altogether and got into paper crafting, junk journaling, cards the works lol. I so miss water colors but strangely feel intimidated now. This video is making me want to get back into it. Bought an inexpensive set not long ago. Your voice is so soothing!! Feels like a yoga teacher guiding us gently! Txs for inspiring us ❤

At 93 l am again excited with watercolor after spending winters in Florida at various watercolor classes. You have peaked my enthusiasm! Love what l’ve seen but seek more knowledge. Botanical flowers, landscape, seascapes, drawing people’s homes, cabins, cat memorial. Right now it’s flowers.

Watercolor is my therapy. All I have to do is sit down and start to paint and all cares recede and my inner child comes out to play. Thank you for the lessons. I'm enjoying your channel so much.

Thank you so much. I'm teaching a beginning watercolor class this summer to 12 year olds. Just basics and color wheel, and I wanted to find something they could paint and walk away with. This video reminded me that it doesn't have to be a "thing". My biggest problem is finding a good brush that I can afford to buy for 20 students. Is there a dagger out there that you know of? Yes, you have a convert. I bought a Ro & Co travel dagger, and it does almost everything all by itself. Your channel has taught me so much about why I paint, not just how. My mantra is "Find joy in all you do and bring joy to all you come in contact with." ❤
The advice to spray the paints is the single best thing I've heard all year as this art journey has unfolded for me! THANK YOU!

Okay... I don't take the time to comment too often. But you did it..! And thank you... Inspired, years ago my father quite his job to become an artist @ 50 yrs old or so. He became quite successful....I recently brought home 75 of his paintings. Many of them are now hanging on the walls of my family. I've always wondered if I had the same talent. Guess what...? lol. I started watercolor painting this past year, doing so, so I can teach my patients! I LOVE it! This is by far the best "Beginners lesson" I have encountered. I work with inmate who are serving their last six months of their sentence at the substance use disorder treatment facility where I work! It's so rewarding to see the grown men learning and enjoying watercolors. They are able to express, create and even get in touch with their inner child. It's also great to have emotional painting for them. Some go on to do their own painting outside of "Creative Expressions" Group Therapy!
I chose your video from the millions, and I was hooked from the start when I saw the orb cross the screen as you proclaimed your reason here on earth. I look forward to watching all your videos, as well as looking for more of your spiritual helpers. I’m brand spankin’ new, and wanted to make my husband an anniversary card for 32 yrs of marriage. Right off the bat you had me! I don’t know what the heck I’m doing, but I have an elementary school watercolor set, some brushes, a glass of water, a spray bottle and a watercolor paper book. Just found them around the house. wow this tutorial is very different from all other painting tutorial i've seen. and bravo! not many artists on here would encourage people to just be present and paint messily intentionally, even watercolours. it's always "this what what you need to get and this is how you do it" type of tutorial. i am a writer but i'm very challenged when it comes to visual arts. i am very intrigued by painting. tried oil painting and charcoal, but i didn't stay with it. i think i need to try watercolour next. getting clean water on the page was such a mind blowing moment.

Wow what a wonderful lesson. Your voice is so peaceful and full of energy and love. I feel like a rock star already. I’m a caregiver and one of my clients with Parkinson’s used to paint and her family is trying to encourage her to paint more. I’m an artist with yarn and fabric and I only acrylic paint but just for my fun. So I’m to look for videos of how to water color, which is her favorite medium. And this is my first and you have set my mind frame of how to approach it with her. I mean who am I to show an artist how to do their craft? Great, thanks! I probably would have quit if I did not see this video. I was trying to do this without wetting the paper first. Your video is the only one I saw that actually gets you started with great tips. I used to draw with pencils a lot and I got pretty good at it, but drawing with pencils is boring. Painting is much more interesting because there are surprises and you can also just do it from what is in your mind.
With pencil drawing I felt like a copy machine, with water color it feels like something far more alive and mysterious.
