There is a small button device that you can hide in colonies so that you can detect them. I have one every so often in the yards.
And Apple AirTag?
Similar but made in Asia. Oops like Apple products lol, perhaps an apple knock off. They are really cheap, unlike anything with the name apple.@@stauntonparkbees
Hi mate, thx for your excellent video, I’ve never had any of my hives stolen so it would break my heart if any where robbed , I’m going to take a leaf out of your book and start branding my boxes . Good luck with your bees getting them through the coming winter all the best mate.
Cheers Peter! I’d love to see the brand you design. Where are you based?
The trouble with TH-cam is everyone sees where you keep your bees. Glad you got them back🐝🐝
Yes, that’s a concern of mine too. I made sure the forest apiary was not easily identifiable, and as it was moved close to a neighbouring property… I think it was a local who spotted them walking…
Well done Joe and the team, keep up the great work!!
Thanks guys! I hope you like your new bees!
Apple air tag. Simple. Stick one or two in your hives and you’ll know where they are.
Does the EMF from the AirTag impact the bees? Over head power lines impact them, so I wasn’t sure the frequency would be good.
It would be brilliant if it worked, but they literally only took the bees out of the other hive, people literally steal anything these days don’t they!
Sorry to hear about ur hives hopefully karma catches up with the thieves Good luck
Exactly, that’s what I thought too. Have a lovely weekend!
Never have I ever had a hive stolen. What is wrong with people!? Glad to know you got the one back. Set up a game camera, catch those thieves. 🐝✌️💜🌼🍯
People, hey! Crazy. Thanks for watching :)
Mr. Staunton, I really liked your video! I was fifty years into beekeeping before I had my first hive stolen. I am glad you got your bees back. When I first opened your video I had some trouble with how a single thief would be able to lift a 500 pound hive. ioi
Thanks Caroll! I hope I last 50 years in beekeeping too! Please do subscribe and keep in touch!
This spring I removed a hive of bees from a wildlife feeder. As it was a cutout the old man that's teaching me said to leave my box for a few days under the wildlife feeder to let the bees repair the comb. He also said I needed a new queen so I bought a queen and installed the queen cage with the candy plug in the hive after killing the old queen. It was 3 more days before I went to pick up those bees and take them to my yard. When I started transferring them to their permant box I noticed that the queen cage had been plugged with a cotton swab by someone. I believe if I wouldn't have picked up those bees someone would have stolen them.
Gosh, the comments I’m receiving make me realise I really need to be more vigilant with my hives. Rather than straps… we need pad locks and chains!
Local address for buying honey in Horley next Gatwick. Thank from a American beekeeper
Is that where you’re based? Horley?
This has always been a concern of mine as I expand my apiary to other yards. Some people have no respect for others hard work. I'm going to get working on making a brand to stamp my boxes that leave my main yard over the winter here. Happy keeping to you and yours from the other side of the pond.
Cheers brother! If you’d like the design of mine I can get you a quote for the branding iron.
I appreciate the offer but I think I'll fashion a custom design of my own and weld it up. I try to bee as resourceful as possible.
Buzzing! 😂
I hate a damn thief. The planet is absolutely packed full of POS these days.
But thankfully there are more beautiful people than bad!
Well done joe
Thank you
Keep your work
Thank you😊
When many prison have a program of beekeeping. It's not a surprise that they get stolen.
Do they? I didn’t know that. I wonder what type of bees they keep… and if they eat the honey!
I was at a beekeeping auction and 10 hives were bought for a prison
