Thank you Ruth Jones and James Corden for creating an amazing series. A fantastic cast. Fantastic writing. Fantastic storyline. Not afraid to admit I was emotional after the episode finale.
Only ever heard a snippet of this beautiful song on the closing credits of Gavin & Stacey and finally looked it up to hear it all! What a gem! Stunning music too..absolutely love it!
After watching Gavin and Stacey finale I can honestly say this song wouldn’t be the same without Gavin and Stacey . After hearing this song at the end I balled buckets and even without watching it still makes me shed a tear . Favourite song ever 🩷
It’s a shame nobody is here for the raw lyrical and musical craftsmanship other than gavin and Stacey. What a fantastic song, will forever hit me harder than most.
Heard this song on the radio today and got goosebumps thinking we are so close now to seeing into the lives of those characters from Billericay and Barry again for the very last time ❤ thanks for the memories. I will surely be watching the 2008 first Xmas special a dozen times in December like I always do,in anticipation.
How has this not got more views after 10 years, maybe everyone else was like me and didn't realise this was an actual full song until last night's finale
Obviously knew the song through G&S... however it's criminal that you've got so little exposure from that! Found you via a 2010 playlist - What an artist, keep cracking on.
We'll be hearing this theme again this Christmas...James Corden just announced this morning that Gavin and Stacey is returning for a special episode in December on BBC One!
Still an amazing song in 2023, how times haves changed was simple back then with this music. the world's gone mental tbh to much death to many freaks around,,,keep your loved ones close by your side everyday because there your true best friends in life 👍❤️
What a program amazing don’t know why it took me so long to watch it. Shame the story wasn’t much longer but non the less amazing series and stunning finale ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Completely. A really great song, and I always thought it was a little out of place on Gavin & Stacey, somehow. Maybe because it's so good in its own right that it shouldn't be 'just' a theme? Or maybe because it's so beautifully poignant that I don't really want it to be associated with something which - although it has its own beauty and poignancy - is really silly too. I don't quite know, really, but I think that's it! If you were composing a theme for Gavin & Stacey from. scratch, you probably wouldn't write that. Whatever makes me feel that way, there's something about how pure and wonderful the song is that means I just want it to be its own thing.
Lyrics Run, run like the wind Don't wait for a thing There is nothing here for you But if you stay Well then let me say I'll go out of my way for you It's not like before I'll say no more Everyone else has said it for me A beautiful tree A beautiful tree It's a shame that the root of it's me Sleep, sleep on the floor A knock on the door To tell me if you want some more I can't relate To what's on your plate And my appetite never failed before A beautiful tree A beautiful tree It's a shame that the root of it's me A beautiful tree A beautiful tree It's a shame that the root of it's me Tell me tomorrow I'll wait by the window for you Run, run like the wind Don't wait for a thing There is nothing here for you But if you stay Well then let me say I'll go out of my way for you It's not like before I'll say no more Everyone else has said it for me A beautiful tree A beautiful tree It's a shame that the root of it's me.

Best british show ever
Definitely the best of its generation
The best comedy in the last 20 years it is so much better than Mrs. Brown’s boys for example.
Up there with _Half the World Away_ and _Handbags & Gladrags_ as the trinity of sitcom theme songs.
That pianist is tidy too! Can’t wait for Christmas now.
It’s a shame nobody is here for the raw lyrical and musical craftsmanship other than gavin and Stacey. What a fantastic song, will forever hit me harder than most.

Why can't people just comment on how great that this song is and Stephen's voice instead of having to mention Gavin & Stacey all the time.

True but how many of us would have ever even heard this song if it weren't for G&S? I certainly hadn't heard of Stephen Fretwell otherwise.

Lyrics
Run, run like the wind
Don't wait for a thing
There is nothing here for you
But if you stay
Well then let me say
I'll go out of my way for you
It's not like before
I'll say no more

A beautiful tree
A beautiful tree
It's a shame that the root of it's me
Sleep, sleep on the floor
A knock on the door
To tell me if you want some more
I can't relate
To what's on your plate
And my appetite never failed before
A beautiful tree
A beautiful tree
It's a shame that the root of it's me
A beautiful tree
A beautiful tree
It's a shame that the root of it's me
Tell me tomorrow
I'll wait by the window for you
Run, run like the wind
Don't wait for a thing
There is nothing here for you
But if you stay
Well then let me say
I'll go out of my way for you
It's not like before
I'll say no more
