Great rifle the HW30. A dream to shoot with. The 2-7 Hawke is an excellent choice for this model 👍 I like the HW30 so much that i own two of them. One i use with an Airmax 2-7 scope and the other with the original fiber optic iron sights. I'll recommend to buy a 30 or 30S always in .177 because i think it's a bit to weak to be an 22cal on longer distance. cheers!

Another great Video, my Sunday Morning wake up :) I bought my first HW 35 in 1976...and still have it. It was a wake up call! u#Up to that time I had only experienced BSA's and although the Mercury's and Airsporter's were good, the 35 was in a different league. I've also got a 1978 'Export' which I bought 2nd hand and am in the middle of a full restoration. Both guns have leather piston washers however I've managed to acquire - from a collector friend - a genuine Venom 'o' ring converted piston which will find its way into my restoration project. Keep up the great work.
They are a lovely rifle , i have a standard HW35, I actually took my scope off and just use open sights for a change. If you hold back the locking latch while closing the rifle is silent. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video.
I'm glad you've done a vid about the HW35 again Kevin 😁 I use the 35 for hunting. The latch you can hold with your finger when closing the breech to avoid the klick in some situations. Some thicker grease on the sliding parts of the latch will make it very quiet too. Im my opinion the 35 and 98 are the best looking HW's. Thanks for showing my friend👍
Excellent Hunting rig, Ron ! 😉👍 I know the 35E is a bit heavier, but it's the last of Weihrauchs Springers to maintain the Classic Vintage Olde School styling, and walnut stock. 🤤 Handles well and weights just as good as the HW95K, and It's already purpose built for the woods.

Agree 100% with you. The 80 should have the latch too and would make it with some sling mounts the ultimate hunting break barrel springer if you have no problem with the weight. I like more weight because it will be more accurate. Cheers!
The weihrauch hw35e was the first weihrauch I owned 1983 I think. The most amazing gun with beautiful walnut stock.Don't know why other break barrels didn't use this type of locking leaver? Great video as always.
Kev, as I have previously commented I just really enjoy your videos. You have a conduct that is me through and through. I have a modern 35E. Very much factory with a tin of pellets through. 99.99% of the time you can and should always try H&N Field Target Trophies through any HW barrel - they were developed and designed around HW barreled rifles' and the most consistent I have personally ever experienced out of a tin.. Two of the most famous gun makers/customizers here in the UK advised me on this - and I want to share that both of them are very famous and both recommended I use .20 caliber for paper and fur and feather. I wish I had taken their advice earlier. I moved to Africa with my Armory of .20 cal springers to a very remote location. These rifles fed me and my son, and fulfilled everything I had from PCPs in FAC and beyond in the UK. I work for the biggest rifle store in Europe and we now have a shop in the US ...... HW's and H&N will always go in hand. So will the front end support of an HW rifle supported. I have sold hundreds of HW's and every one of them has been sold with heart and passion with reason behind each sale - a life long dream of always owning something that would achieve what I wanted always and never had the African Veldt growing up. I hope I get to spend my days as you do brother - a dream come true. I bout Vortex seals as Webely Venom has ended due to the loss of the great Steve Pope - and within 30 shots on my magnum HW's the seals failed and blew out the breach. Give Tinbum Tuning a chance if you can- I have had great results and longevity without failures for several years.
Thanks so much. Keith. I kinda' discovered the H&N FTTs through experimentation. In almost every case, they prove to perform the best. Always the best in .22, with only a couple of exceptions in .177 Sadly, the only piston powered gun that I own in .20, is a nonfunctional Theoben Eliminator ( Beeman Crow Mag in this case.) I'm hoping to get it up and running but, as you say, piston seals are a problem. There's a gentleman here in the States who's cornered the market on repairs and has possession of the necessary parts, including the original piston seals. I may just send it off to him. He comes highly recommend and has a well respected reputation among the " springer guys" in these here parts... I sincerely appreciate the time that you invested in sharing so much valuable info. I'm certain that many will benefit from it beyond only myself. Thanks again, my friend.

Hi, just recently subscribed, really enjoying your channel. In the suggestion box, this video as an example, it was really hard to know which dot you were shooting at, any I think you should shoot at least at same dot, to see how you are grouping (IMO) love the bell ringing at the end. I just recently got a HW35, have not shot it yet, but will very soon. Thanks for sharing all your rifles with us!
Hi Kevin, Great video. What a lovely consistant accurate gun. I have exactly the same dating from 1983 bought recently in London. Similar accuracy to yours. I gleaned something from one of your previous videos re my 35 which i have issues with. Fitted a vortek kit and breech seal. Still not consistant, shots falling. Your tip, leaking piston seal. Fixing next week. Best regards. David. U.K.
A Urethane seal conversion is usually good for about 15 to 20fps. on a standard barrel 35E. 😉👍 I think Vortek should have a 35 seal conversion kit. You simply unscrew the old leather seals, and buffer, and swap in the metal seal base, and mount the urethane seal. 83 may still have an original leather seal. It can either be reconditioned or just upgraded to urethane. It takes a while for the oil on a reconditioned leather seal to stabilize. 🤷🏼♂️ There's a bit of combustion until the excess oil burns off. Urethane seals stabilize pretty quickly by comparison. ☺️
Hi Marc, I think when i fitted the vortek kit i noticed a eurethane seal, not leather. Ordered one from John Knibbs International so i hope it is O.K. I should have changed it at the time i fitted the vortek kit but determined to get this gun right. Lovely guns. @@marcmyers1465
@@majorscopeSweet, saves a bit of time and money ! 😃👍 Anymore I just replace the seal whenever I tune a rifle. 🤷🏼♂️ More often than not it needs replacing anyway and just saves on time, shipping, and the eventual aggravation... 🤦🏼♂️
The 35 standard has the "cut out" in the sholder part of the stock that many don't like. For me is the old 35 model stock or the 35E the one to go for.
Great video again. I look forward to Saturdays! Do most of your rifles hold the same point of impact day-in and day-out? Do you think your point of impact changes when you go from shooting off the bag to resting on your elbows?
The theory is that the point of aim changes from prone to sitting to standing as the eye is aligned slightly differently in the scope? From bag to elbow? Maybe the point of aim and impact would shift a little? By how much, no idea
What Keith said. Also, I often find that I need to make some minor adjustments on the scope at each shooting session. I think it's because my hold changes.
My HW35E won't hold zero with a scope. Barrel latch system is too weak I think. Stick with the HW50S if you intend to use optic sights or a receiver peep.
Don't be too quick to blame that latch. It works so well that it's been in use for more than seventy years. Of course, it's possible that yours is bad, but it is unlikely. Is there any movement if you try to wiggle the barrel when it's latched? Have you tried a different scope? I'm not calling you out. I'm just reacting to the assumption that the latch is the problem. It very well could be, but I think that you should try to confirm your suspicion by trying a different scope. If you've already done that, then in all likelihood, the gun is to blame. Typically, those latches are considered more solid than a standard chisel type system.
Great video Kevin. I really enjoy the precision shooting. I have a question for you. I is a bit difficult to explain. When target shooting from a bench just like you, at small dots similar to what you’re doing with the dots spread out horizontally 3 feet from left to right, 40 yards . I center my gun so the POA and point of impact at the very middle dot is pretty well bang on but when I move the gun over to the one on the far left ,the POI is off to the left ? When I aim at the far right the POI seems to be to the right of the dot yet it shoots pretty well dead on at the center dot? I noticed in your shooting you also showed sighs of this as your impact on the center dots were pretty well dead on but the ones on the left were shooting a bit to the left and the ones on the right we’re shooting a bit further right? This seems to happen with all my springers. My guns include ; WH95 , WH97 , TX 200 , Pro Sport and the Diana 54. , all with Vortek tune kits . They are all very accurate. However I still end up adjusting the windage if I want to hit the far outside left and right dots. Hope I’ve explained this so you know what I’m talking about. Is there a logical reason for this other than I have to improve my shooting skills Thanks Kevin. Al
Hi Joe. Marc's probably right. Does your scope have either an adjustable objective or a side focus feature. If not, this could be the issue. It usually shows up at close range. Thanks for watching.
Parallax Error is the bain of many Airgunners. The larger the objective, and longer the focal length, the more outrageous the error can become. 😣 The error occurs at the transition between the fine optics of the erector tube, and the larger objective elements. First focal plane scopes mitigate much of this but as Kevin stated the error most commonly occurs at short focal ranges, but since the size of reticle of a first focal plane scope changes with magnification it can in fact become so fine at close range it then becomes difficult for many people to actually see and clearly define the cross hairs and it washes out especially in low light. 😒 The other approach is to use smaller objective scopes like 32 or 40mm maximum on a short focal length format, while maintaining a larger 30mm scope tube. This minimizes and homogenizes the lens elements to stabilize the repeated bottlenecks in the optimal elements to mitigate the parallax error. 😃👍 Best advice for the Average Airgunners is to select your scope size based on "Realistic" practical shooting distances for the rifle your scoping ! 😉 Bigger is Rarely better at close ranges. The average Springer is really only effective out to 50 yards, 65 yards Max for an 18 FPE. rifle. So the historical effective formats are 2-7×32, 3-9×32/40, and 4-12×40. Many non competitive shooters simply don't honestly need high Mag. Scopes and mounting large, long range scopes honestly "Builds" parallax error into your rig and literally Frustrates The Living Hell out of you ! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ Another source of Lateral error can be poorly centered "Plate" scope mounts the actually offset the scope alignment to the solid side of the mount, pulling your focus to one side or the other. I personally tend to use self centering mounts like BKL's to prevent this. 😉👍 If the error is Greater at long range, then your scope may very likely be canted and not perfectly vertical over bore. The lower the scope mount the better, as taller mounts will simply multiply that vertical offset. Attentive mounting practices and a proper scope level will help considerably in that case. HTH. Prof M 🤓👍
Thanks for the replies. Marcmyers, your explanation is a bit technical for me to fully understand but I think I get the big picture. The scopes in question that I use are two Hawke WA SFP 6 - 24 x 50 ‘s and two Helix Elements 6 -24 x 50. One is SFP and the other FFP. I generally have this issue at relatively long ranges, 46 to 51 yards . That’s the maximum range I can safely shoot on my property. I have mounted less powerful scopes, Hawke 4-12x 40 but like the challenge of hitting very small targets , AAA battery size 1” pieces of solid aluminium. These make fantastic targets. I set about 30 up on a piece of 4x4, 3 feet long , 50 yards away and giver, . problem is I can hardly see these with the smaller magnification. Guess my 72 year old eyes are not what they use to be. the WH 95 , actually a Beeman R9 , is probably my most accurate rifle. it almost unbelievable the consistency of that gun, think ’ Ive found the perfect pellet for the barrel . Thanks again everyone for reading and answering my post.

UN AMIGO MIO TIENE UNA HW 35 DE LOS AÑOS 70 CON UN CAÑON DE 56 CENTIMETROS DE LARGO.BONITA CARABINA.SALUDOS
Sounds like a great rifle. Congratulations to your friend.
Have you seen the HW35 on Weihrauch's website? They're updating the stock
The 35 standard has the "cut out" in the sholder part of the stock that many don't like. For me is the old 35 model stock or the 35E the one to go for.
That's too bad. I like the classic lines of the 35E.
Where do you find these assume air guns? Big C 😎
I purchased this one new a couple of years ago. Thanks for watching.
@@razor1962 Thank you I'll be looking into that... Keep up the good work... Big C 😎
Is there a logical reason for this other than I have to improve my shooting skills
Thanks Kevin.
Al
You are describing Parallax Error. 😉 Which optics are you using ! 🤔
The other approach is to use smaller objective scopes like 32 or 40mm maximum on a short focal length format, while maintaining a larger 30mm scope tube. This minimizes and homogenizes the lens elements to stabilize the repeated bottlenecks in the optimal elements to mitigate the parallax error. 😃👍
Best advice for the Average Airgunners is to select your scope size based on "Realistic" practical shooting distances for the rifle your scoping ! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Another source of Lateral error can be poorly centered "Plate" scope mounts the actually offset the scope alignment to the solid side of the mount, pulling your focus to one side or the other. I personally tend to use self centering mounts like BKL's to prevent this. 😉👍
If the error is Greater at long range, then your scope may very likely be canted and not perfectly vertical over bore.
@@joebergin8113Recommend the Optisan CP 4-16×40 F1 FFP w/ BKL-388 mount, and scope level. 😉
Parallax Error is under 1/2" MOA. ☺️

Interessante como é esse sistema de trava do cano em ângulo de 180º, eu tenho uma gamo black fusion e o sistema é automático, porém me parece que essa do video, WEIHRAUCH, Pareçe mais durável. ,
It's a very solid and secure lockup. Such a satisfying "click" as the action is gently closed. It's a classic latching system. A very similar system was used on the early Haenels. I enjoy it and its precision.
Thanks for watching, my friend.
I have several springers, but this is the one I want. 🥲
It certainly is an awesome rifle.
