    The Czechs make excellent firearms and air rifles and the Slavia is no exception. A twäng can be heard but that doesn't detract from the fun. Oh man, I love the channel and can only hope it lives on forever.

      Good overview Kevin 👍 I always wondered what that weird triangle on the barrel was for....I never knew the 631 had a barrel latch system 😅🤦
      I remember my favorite shop here in NH used to carry the Slavias alongside CZ's firearms. I recall the 630 and 631 being simple-looking, but solid, with good build quality and 'old world' style open sights 👍
      I should have bought one, but never did, and I also missed out on the larger, more powerful 634, which I don't think ever got much circulation before CZ stopped making (or at least importing) air rifles...I do recall a few NIB 634s being available on GB's site in the last decade or so, but that's about it sadly...
      Glad you are enjoying your CZ Kevin - thanks for sharing it with us 👍👍

    Another good video , not a name I have seen before thanks for enlightening me. FYI an air gun tuner told me it's always goog to use the breach lock mechanism as on the HW 35 when closing the rifle to prevent wear on the breach block caused by the pin cheers for now , I'm hoping to get my hands on a limited edition HW 50 due to arrive hear in the UK 🇬🇧 something soon stay safe .

    Great show and what a Slavic beauty! In case it isn't the scope causing fliers, a pellet-to-bore test is what I do to evey air rifle I get. (Push a pellet gently through the bore with a rod to check for tight or loose spots in the bore.) Mike Ellingsworth preaches it on his channel. Keep the great shows coming!

      It closes up almost as sweet, too. Nice little rifle, for sure.

    • @davidprocter3578
      @davidprocter3578 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Do you know the Anschutz 335 or the Webley and Scot Omega. both much closer in style and function than the HW 35 which is loosely based on the barrel latch of the Heanal model three dating from the Nineteen twenties a gun I might add very far ahead of it's time the earliest I have come across was dated 1923 but I rather suspect production started a year or two before..I believe Pyramid air have a nice example in their collection.

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @davidprocter3578 I used to own a Haenel Model III DRP made in 1932, if I recall correctly. It was one of the finest air rifles that I've ever owned. The latching system, as you mentioned, is very similar to that of the HW35. However, it's hard to imagine, but it was even more satisfying to close the action on the model III.
      Sadly, I let it go back when I took a ride down the PCP road, mistakenly thinking that it was a one-way trip. Now, all but a few PCPs remain, and the piston powered guns are where my roots are.
      Thanks as always, David.

    It looks like an enjoyable rifle to shoot, the stock appears to be leaning towards a 'target style' with the deeper forend and steep pistol grip. Getting the best groups possible from a rifle with a less than perfect trigger is part of the fun.

    These CZs are really good rifles, not as good as the HW55 or HW35. I had a CZ 631 that, like the 631 of a friend of mine and many others, had a barrel drop.

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great that you got those German pistols, I've got the later model 10, it's my favourite pistol, bit of a beast at 1400g and got the earlier FWB 65, this was the pistol that knocked the model 10 off the top slot, 200g lighter makes a difference over a match. I believe the FWB 80 was more target oriented than the 65 by dropping the feature of increasing the trigger pull from 500g to something like 1500g for firearm pistol training( there is a hole on the underside to put a bar or Allen key in to move a lever) Also did they put an extra spring inside the standard spring on the 80?? My 65 is very low powered, about 2.9 foot pounds after a rebuild.
    As far as accuracy goes, I've shot them back to back against each other and against my modern Styre Lp10 at 10m indoors, modern pistol yes a bit more accurate but not by much, against each other, nothing in it, I'd just say for a smaller person over a 60 shot match plus sighters the FWB would have it because of the lighter weight and lower cocking effort of the side lever.
    Cant wait for the vids 🙂

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hopefully, I won't disappoint. I'm am absolutely terrible with a pistol. Nevertheless, I enjoy them, so I like to keep a few in the collection.
      Both of these guns are going to need a rebuild, but those will be other videos.
      Thanks for watching.

  • @davidprocter3578
    @davidprocter3578 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Have you eliminated the scope yet?Might be my ears but there does seem to be a little variation in the actions sound shot to shot, is it possible piston washer failing? it does rather sound as if the piston is recoiling. All that aside I would be quite happy with that guns performance myself I have seen far more expensive guns shooting worse. It might be a little tuning and relubing might solve it's problems. I dont know about you but when an action puts in a couple of passable shots then settles down for a good five shot string then starts running out fliers I think of warming lubricants and polymer seals. But as you say a very sweet little gun invest some time into it and it could become a giant slayer on the target circuit.

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, David. You could be on to something with the warming lubricants. We'll see if it settles down over time. Scope seems to be staying put. However, it could be failing internally. I'll shoot it for a while and see if things smooth out.

    Question: do you prefer Slavia 631 or the R7?

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hands down, the R7. The Rekord trigger alone makes the R7 the clear winner.
      However, the 631 is a solid, no-nonsense air rifle. It works, and it works well. Its trigger is very rudimentary, consisting of a single lever. The trigger and the sear are one in the same. But we're comparing two different price points. I really appreciate guns, which employ as little plastic as possible in their construction. Wood and steel, please. Both guns fit that bill. Both guns get my attention.
