    As a young teen, I appreciate when people post informational videos about ourselves to help us understand more about what were going through. I struggle alot understanding what happens in my brain, and i feel some sort of guilt for not knowing why I am like this. But nobody ever tells us that it's a part of growing and maturing, and its ok to look, feel, and act specific ways during our teen years.

    • @AkshayKumarX
      @AkshayKumarX ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember not to beat yourself up too much for knowing exactly about how your brain sometimes actively works against you and still not being able to do anything about it.
      Lots of people suffer from all kinds mental disorders, some more severely than others. Most of the world is still backwards towards being understanding and dealing with mental disabilities in a healthy manner.
      Quite a lot of people in your life won't be able to help you during times of distress, they won't be as understanding of your difficulties in life because they will likely be going through hardships in their own life with nobody helping them.
      You're also going to make a lot of mistakes too, you will not be able to help everyone, keep in touch with all your friends who might be troubled like you.
      Keep close to good teachers, healthy minded adults and share your issues with them instead of your peers to get better help, remember that young minds are rarely ever in a healthy state, advice your friends to do the same.
      25 years of age is a good milestone in life generally, when a person's mind matures and they've most probably learnt how to deal with illness, loss, addictions, depression, etc.
      You didn't ask and I'm writing this more for myself than for you or anyone else reading this. Made the biggest mistake in my life that I am unable to take back.
      Minor ocd, perfectionism, sever adhd, depression, executive dysfunction. All these issues I've found that I've been living with in my life but never managed to do anything about them being the smart and intelligent person I thought I once was.
      It only hurts more being better than most people at an early age, not in intelligence alone but rather in empathy, understanding, mental strength and then failing hard because of things out of your control in life.
      Don't be afraid to wear your heart on your sleever unlike most people you're going to meet.
      Read good books, always value education, participate in healthy discussions, start earning money and work experience as soon as you can, even if you're 13.
      Help yourself first and then move onto helping others in this life.

    I do wish that psychology and mental health was focused on so much more in middle and high schools. There are still things I'm learning in my mid to late 20s about what changes I went through at that point in life. Sure we'll always be learning new things, but it'd be so nice to be able to focus on something when it's a current part of your life.

    I swear, puberty has done nothing to me. So many people talk about how horrible it is, and how different they all feel, but honestly I feel no different. • @rolandxb3581
      @rolandxb3581 ปีที่แล้ว +89

      Good question. Horrible is a judgment, but it's definitely supposed to feel different. How old are you? Some people have very high emotional stability and don't experience as much negative emotions. People with autism also have different experiences, as do asexual people. A lot of variety and for some people puberty is pretty mild. I do think for most people it is a very intense period of change but that doesn't mean it has to be like that for everyone.

Most of what was said in this video I appear to be experiencing the second time around rather than the first. The first time around I did notice differences in emotions, but far more so the second time. I also think only having to deal with work, and not school really helps with being able to form an identity and build social connections. Neither of which became well developed in the first puberty.

Age 12-16 is the worst, I hate thinking too much, crying, no friends, lost, unhappy, tired, trouble with friends, being bullied, bad grades, bad teachers... really? Now I feel bad, I failed high school and have to retake the exam. There's not even sports, gym time is boring when everyone in my class is lazy and not serious, the teacher doesn't care, everyone else is all gathered to talk, everyone just focuses on grades numbers and envy others, horrible. No one told me how horrible middle school was. And the phone too, all just glued to the phone, forgetting about life, I wish I could go back to my childhood. Even people only care about their goals, I know that's good but jokingly people are too concerned with the future, losing time in their youth. For me youth is really about being goal-focused in a healthy way and not forgetting to take care of yourself at home and at school. I prefer people to be sociable like in the 1990s-2016s. Although I was born in 2007 :]]]

      I have a mood swing (or 3 or 4) every single day and have since I was 5 years old. I’m 25 now and every day is just random intense panic, happiness, sadness, confusion, brain fog, and I cannot make a non impulsive decision no matter how much I try.
      But on the bright side, I’m one of the most creative people anyone’s ever met so the Autism and ADHD does have some benefits.

      @@idifjrivhjf5198 That's not precocious puberty. For boys, it's when puberty hits below 9 and below 8 years of age for girls.

    Nice to finally debunk the misconception of teens. I honestly think no one can act rationally in haste. Decisions take time to make and for teenagers, even more so. It's the age where your brain dredges paths for the rest of your life. I'm dissappointed in myself for using existing roads instead of clearing new trails. Perhaps it's not too late to dust off the piano...

    only if I had known how to control the changes I would have been able to get the best out of it.. but I am quite satisfied with the changes.. or am I? I think it made me more aware of others pain and feeling rather than think of myself. Well I think I can change that, I will think of others and myself in moderate.

    I think my puberty may have started late, mentally speaking of course. Physically, my menstrual cycle started at 13, so puberty hit me around that time. Mentally, i think it started around 16 because that's when I became more self aware of my surroundings.

    Wouldn't the average onset of puberty shifting earlier be attributed to toxic stress? The Deepest Well by Nadine Burke Harris talks about ACEs and that effect on development. There was an experiment with tadpoles, that when introduced to stressful environment for a long duration and early on in life they started to develop quicker and earlier, as a way to stay safe, to speed up the process of maturing in order to handle this extreme stress and adversity. So, I could easily see that with a larger number of parents who don't actually parent and aren't emotionally regulated themselves, then many adolescents begin to develop earlier. Maybe. Just a theory.
