Our hard-wired stress response is designed to gives us the quick burst of heightened alertness and energy needed to perform our best. But stress isn’t all good. When activated too long or too often, stress can damage virtually every part of our body. Sharon Horesh Bergquist gives us a look at what goes on inside our body when we are chronically stressed.

This happened to me when I went to college. I was dealing with too many problems (family, money, social, physical, etc) at once that my body and mind became over stressed for too long. Thus, my body started to in a sense 'break down' to a point I HAD to go home. Its been over 3 YEARS and I'm still trying to repair the damage and that damage has made it impossible for me ever to do career I was originally going for. I'm way more attuned to my body now than I was then!

Giving your brain 5 minutes of relaxation a day can really benefit your health.

This is why teachers should not give students tons of homework.

    • @CollapseDev
      @CollapseDev 9 ปีที่แล้ว +87

+Kenneth Panuga They give homework because they try and pack mostly useless stuff in our heads and then expect us to pick up the slack and continue it.
If they were in charge of what they taught, you could bet we wouldn't need homework and we would be much smarter. But the system in place doesn't allow them to dictate much control of what is taught, this is changing.

    • @danielbeatty487
      @danielbeatty487 8 ปีที่แล้ว +54

+Kenneth Panuga The homework isn't the issue because homework provides practice. It depends on the type of homework and how good the teacher is at teaching the material. It's very dependant on teaching style and how good a teacher is.

It is, though. Kids (of all ages) need to be able to relax and de-stress after school. Note that the country with the highest overall academic achievement in the world (at least regarding children and teens) is Finland. One way they went from being one of the worst to the best in achievement, was by eliminating homework.
Most school systems in the US require homework. The US is NOT a world leader in education or academic achievement. Kids get daily homework, homework during holiday breaks, and in the summer. The best way to kill an interest in reading is to require it during summer vacation, or as homework (especially for a test or written essay).
We need to ditch homework, not just for kids, but for teachers (or pretty much ANY job), too!

You’re in charge! We have something that we need to overcome ourselves. I know that making big deal about it is not good to my mental healthy but i have a habit of keep thinking about it. Everybody’s deparately afraid to go through worries, fears and obsessing thoughts. So, When I went through this, i was just try to take it to the next level to forget these things. I think we don’t have to mop this up! Sometimes, we might as well just get past this. That’s the way life is, isn’t it? I’m just saying we could stop stuggling with this. Worrying about it won’t solve anything! Let’s see some action!

I lay in hospital a few years ago after a burst stomach ulcer.
I asked a Dr why did this happen ? Aged 30
He said " do you smoke cigarettes ? I said "yes...but not anymore after being sick "
I got to thinking that everyone who smoked didn't have a stomach ulcer.
Then I realized it was my lifestyle
And at that time I'd been under great stress for 2 years...
So...I stopped stressing and improved my lifestyle... that was 32 years ago and good health since..

Ways to lower ur stress according to me lol:
    Therapy
    Pets (playing petting feeding)
    Baths
    Walks!!!
Not watching the news/checking Instagram or twitter for a day
    Deep breaths
Ice+water in a bowl and dip ur face for like 5-10 seconds a few times
Taking time off!! Work/school/ family/ relationships
    Drawing
Writing down how u want things to be e.g: work less, get promoted, get a good grade, be more social (don’t be scared to get into details)
Letting ppl around u help and know ur triggers and struggles, ik asking for help might be hard but it’s worth it
Finding things u like (makeup, video games, sports, gym, painting, building, meditation…)
Make a list like this, but like for yourself, everytime u think of something that helped u write it down so when ur stressed u can go back to it and you’ll know things that can help u get thru it, that can include a breathing exercise or a funny video of a cat falling, it’s up to u

For a person to have a beautiful life, one important aspect is that they know how to manage their time well. Time is very precious. Every second that passes will never come back. So, we need to consider how can I best spend my time so that I feel more fulfilled and happier now and am also preparing for a good future. And for a person to have a beautiful life they must know how to manage stress.
Generally speaking, people get stressed out when they are not able to cope with life. Either there are too many things to do, or there is something happening in our lives that we cannot deal with in a healthy manner. People don’t usually get stressed out when they have to do things they like to do, even if it is for a long time.

I like this kind of videos that are more interactive besides they are very understandable.

Stress can lead to a variety of factors including A-fib or V-fib (a type of heart Arrhythmia) or Impaired cognitive function. (Brain fog). It can also lead to an increase in body temperature which is why the video says it can make you ill. High body temperatures can trigger an immuno-Endorcine reaction (Your immune & endocrine system thinks the body is trying to fight off an infection that is nonexistent) (your Endocrine system releases Serotonin in response to the immune response).

Ive been working on trying to calm myself down in moments i feel stress and 90% of the time im successful or things dont actually stress me or bother me, but theres one thing imparticular im going through right now where none of my strategies are actually helping me calm myself down. even if im trying to stay calm i can still feel my heart beating fast so i know my body is still in a state of stress, but i dont know what else to do. ive tried being rational, thinking the issue out, being calm, breathing, taking a moment to collect myself, drinking water, doing something relaxing or to take my mind off it, but i still feel my heart racing and have been trying to ignore it (just for context it has to do with a personal relationship issue). at that point do i just have to let it ride its self out? Even when i try to not think about it, im thinking about it in the back of my head, or even when i distract myself for 10 or 15mins with something, like say cooking, or playing a game, immediately after the thoughts come back and i can feel myheart want to race again, so i try my hardest to fight against it. I dont know what to do.

I've been stressed out all my life. I haven't had a break from being stressed at all for a year and a half now. The past year and a half has been me getting salmonella, ulcerative colitis, then being homeless while working one job and bleeding from my ass, getting a second job so I could afford a place to stay and then losing it because I was told I wasn't working hard enough because I would have to go to the bathroom constantly to wipe blood off my thighs and the loss of blood makes me extremely tired, then after I lost that job I went back into the hospital because I was bleeding for almost 2 days straight and I'm not getting the help I need even though I've tried to talk to doctors but I can't even get a damn referral from my damn PCP to see a fucking specialist! Yeah, I'm supposed to work though the pain and the bleeding and am expected to do a perfect job but doctors can not do a god damn fucking thing while I just keep bleeding. "Oh, You need me to tell a specialist that you can see him? Well... That's way too hard of work for a doctor!" God damn lazy fucking people. Obviously, This world just wants me dead so why fucking wait until I bleed to death, right?

+Raven Wilson Try seeing the problems causing the stress differently.
For example ; If someone you care about is not taking care of their own business and, it falls on you to help out with whatever is missing, or not right, Sit down somewhere quiet, and ask yourself ; "What am I responsible for in my life" ? (Imagine all the things being put into a 'storage' of some kind.) Then as yourself ; "Is (whoever is making the problem) taking care of THEIR SAME , OWN RESPONSIBILITIES as I am ? In other words, "What is 'your stuff ?" and "What is their stuff ?" Then ask yourself ; "If I take care of this person's problem, am I enabling or, feeding into the problem ?" Then ask ; "Will my letting them deal with it make them more responsible and, better at dealing with this in the future ?" If so, REALIZE that , it is not your problem to solve ! (If you can't solve a problem, then it is not yours to solve !) CHANGING THE WAY YOU PERCEIVE the stressful item. Then, it is MOST IMPORTANT to LITERALLY SAY THE WORDS OUT LOUD (To give you the release that YOU NEED over it.) CALMLY, GENTLY in a MATTER OF FACT WAY, that even you would not mind hearing, if the situation was reversed, that THIS IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. (Using the 'Golden Rule") Then you are free to MOVE ON or, MOVE IN to help you, and others. Good Luck and, God bless. Amen.

Easy tips to feel at least, a little less stressed:
    1) Sing a song while you shower.
    2) Talk face to face with people. About anything at all. Even listening to others helps.
    3) Don’t walk in your house. Skip and jump to your destinations like a protagonist! (If your circumstances allow) it’s all about awakening your inner child.
    4) Add the happy songs from your playlist to your daily chores.
    5) Stop! Breathe, take a paper and write all of your honest feelings and problems (and possible solutions) and shred it to pieces afterwards.
    6) Hug a loved one if circumstances allow.
