Being a 20 year old and feeling the emotional pain of heartbreak is agonizing. It's the hardest truth of life "you may love a person but the other person doesn't share the same emotion" accept it and find the one who loves you and accept you the way you are .
stages of falling in love: 1. infatuation/passionate love (excessively daydreaming about someone and wanting to spend more time with them - and last for a few months) 2. attachment/ compassionate love (start to observe and know the downfalls of our partner and cope with them or against them)
I had a whirlwind relationship with a girl. It was as passionate as humanly possible. We shunned the rest of the world as we loved and quarreled. Family included. We broke up after 2 years. it was excruciating to be without her, but a blanket of toxic selfishness coated our once loving relationship. 5 years later. I met her on a chance encounter and it was an absolute whirlwind like before.Because of the sins of the past, It was more challenging this time around, but we managed to pull through. Our time apart made me realize that I have always loved her. Even when we were apart, i still loved her. Selfishness just got in the way. I just Hope that everyone gets the same chance as we did.
I can’t thank you guys enough for this beautiful animation. It’s helping me figure myself out and how I love the people around me by explaining things in a rational way. It’s a thousand times better than someone saying, “oh, you’ll know when you’re in love”, because I don’t know if it’s that or not.
i love this animation so much. And i love that at the end of rollercoaster ride, which represents his experience and journey of love, his partner wasn’t there anymore on the ride, instead of looking very depressed, he looks back and smile. As if he has learned and move on. Knowing he’ll be okay
I realized a month ago that the reason why I couldn't establish any romantic relationship since I broke up with my first and last relationship in 2015 was because I have already fallen for a good friend back in 2014. However, due to a lot of personal reasons, I could not confess my feelings. Fast forward to 2023, after an unexpected incident, I finally realized and accepted that the reason I could not seem to find the one for me is because I have already found her, but the realization came too late. She has been in a healthy relationship for almost 4 years. I'm experiencing all 3 stages, but mainly the 1st and 3rd, at the same time. It's heartbreaking to live through regret.
I remember when my girlfriend and I first broke up, it was especially painful because it wasn't out of an argument but rather because she was afraid her parents would disapprove of it. At least now I'm glad it happened, like developing immunity to an illness.
Last year I went not through my first, but my worst heartbreak so far. Now this video was recommended as I am falling for someone new again. I hope that I have learned from my past experiences and that this time it won't devastate me as much, but whatever comes, I will be enjoying my infatuation for as long as it lasts.
Love is something that tored up my heart into pieces 2 years ago . But I gradually accepted it as a heart-wreching is inenvitable when you had a connection with a careless man.
Worthy to mention, though, that falling in love is all that chemical activity right before the attachment level of a relationship, and that the attachment level, if successfully passed, is the indication of true love (not just falling in love). This has a lot to do with how the definition of love has been getting ambiguated, specially through the western culture.
i honestly agree. the infatuation stage is really just your brain in need of that dopamine(not saying that it is 100% of the time) However, once you get into that stage and you learn about their strengths, weaknesses, and what they truly are and STILL accepting them, you truly are in love.
I really agree with this. It's frustrating that culturally we aren't more specific about distinguishing falling in love VS true love/compassionate love. Especially for young kids who are just starting to experience these emotions, we aren't giving them a good framework to interpret how they are feeling. To them a swashbuckling romance is true love despite the fact it could be (and often is) toxic.
I love how beautifully this is put, social and visual media really makes love a confusing thing where ur not sure whether what u have is love or not, in the end i feel, its the intensity of the heartbreak that tells.
I was eleven. I knew the heartbreak phase would happen before anything even began. I didn't go through infatuation long. I saw her faults, and loved her for them. I always saved her favorite chair for her in the library even though it would put her farther away from me. I watched her from afar and quietly appreciated the moments when she went up and talked to me, or held my hand, or pressed her face to mine. And then, one day, I looked at her and realized that it felt like home. A place where I belonged. Where I fit. This is doomed, but I can still hope. I can still enjoy the feeling of being in love. Because if there's one mistake I won't make, it's being so desperate to get out of love, so afraid of heartbreak, that I don't let myself feel. I'm running headfirst into pain with no regrets.

I don't think she doesn't love me anymore, I think adulthood is hard and past trauma is difficult to overcome. But understanding it doesn't make it painless. I think about her often, and passionately. I wish everyone in the same situation a lot of strength. I know you need it, friend.

I dated a girl and obviously didn't go well. Soon after, she found a new boy, my friend, who was infinitely better than me I basically just listened to a band I liked (Keane) because most of their songs are breakup songs. Then one day, I woke up, heard a song titled 'Watch How You Go', and it made me open my eyes that at least I wish her well in her life with her new boyfriend, and I don't care anymore, I moved on. I sent the song to her, and said thank you. I don't think she understands what I meant though.

My last heartbreak broke me from ever wanting to fall in love again. There really isn't true moving on for me. I'm on good terms with my ex and he's still a friend, so it's not because I didn't get closure. But because I don't ever want to go through that pain again. I'd rather be dead.
Last two years was my first heartbreak of my first wlw relationship. And all the stages this video showed was literally what exactly I've been through as long as I'm healed. See this, I just open my mind that yeah, not only me feel this kind of way, and trust myself that I will find another one someday.

I want to fall in love. I'm tired of spending all my time being sad and alone, being desperate and lonely. Things are hard right now but yeah let's hope for the best. Everyone deserves the love that they give back don't they?

I feel like the main reason why people can only have relationships that last only a few months is that they crave that addictive feeling of being in love and when that feeling fades, they feel like they lost interest in their partner. This causes people to have problems maintaining long-term relationships because they need to feel "high off of love"
I already confessed like two days ago to my lover and I am so happy she felt the same way. Since then, I’ve felt like a completely changed human being and my brain seems to have like altered in a way. I’m so glad that I found this video, so I know what is really going on with me.
They called "love at first sight" in literature :) I also think that eye contact for the first time is vastly effective to falling in love with somebody :)
I agree, eye contact can be so powerful. I saw a guy at work a few months ago and thought he was cute but didn’t think much else of him. It wasn’t until we made eye contact for the first time that I fell in love, and to this day every time we make eye contact I feel the same, but I’m too nervous to ask him out 😅
You are loved and cherished. You have nothing to fear. There is nothing you can do wrong. If I had to boil this entire message down to one sentence, it would run this way: You are loved. And if I had to boil it down further, to just one word, it would (of course) be, simply: Love.
@@SierNotsruht A thousand years is but an instant. There's nothing new, nothing different; same pattern over and over. The same clouds, same music, the same things I felt an hour or an eternity ago. There's nothing here for me now, nothing at all. Now I remember, this happened to me before. This is why I left. You have begun to find your answers. Although it will seem difficult the rewards will be great. Exercise your human mind as fully as possible knowing that it is only an exercise. What happens with the brain chemistry when the relationship lasts? What are the later stages? How do big life changes - moving in together, getting a pet, having a child, growing old together - affect your brain and your perception of the relationship? How is the grief different when a partner dies of old age, or in childbirth, or if there's cheating after years of commitment? What causes the "7-Year Itch"? I have so many more questions!
Hello, TED-Ed I want to make a request, can you make a video about the maladaptive daydreaming disorder? I have been very fond of it and I want to learn more about it, about its symptoms, how it is caused, and much more, it would be great if you can do it. Thanks a lot if you see this!!!
So getting over a breakup is just the brain's struggle in forgetting the old source of dopamine and finding new source of dopamine. Fascinating.

My last heartbreak broke me from ever wanting to fall in love again. There really isn't true moving on for me. I'm on good terms with my ex and he's still a friend, so it's not because I didn't get closure. But because I don't ever want to go through that pain again. I'd rather be dead.
what is your opinion now?
@@alokkumar5123 Same thing. My ex and I don't speak anymore, but yeah, I still am good on all that
Last two years was my first heartbreak of my first wlw relationship. And all the stages this video showed was literally what exactly I've been through as long as I'm healed. See this, I just open my mind that yeah, not only me feel this kind of way, and trust myself that I will find another one someday.
This is an amazing video that gives a rational explanation to irrational process of falling in or out of love that most people don't get. It's natural and it needs to happen, i love how your channel is able to explain many things in under 10 min. Nice job and keep being awsome
I want to fall in love. I'm tired of spending all my time being sad and alone, being desperate and lonely. Things are hard right now but yeah let's hope for the best. Everyone deserves the love that they give back don't they?
well I think its important to make a distinction between deserving love and deserving the love you give back
everyone deserves to be loved, but you shouldn't love with the expectation to receive something in return
@@timeme5460 Absolutely.
Falling in love is no guarantee that a person wont be sad and alone.
@@bellezavudd that's definitely true, but I think OP means they want that kind of companionship in which they WONT feel sad and alone. As in, specifically.
Jesus ❤
Fantastic video. I watch when I was a bit drunk, just made my girl sad and felt really terrible, but I still can feel it. Thanks for making it.
And if my girl can read this cmt, I just wanna say I just think for her, all the time. I love her so much.
Don't tell us - tell her!
You should tell her. Please don't build some hopes up that your girl will read this comment. Say it to her instead. She will appreciate that more than reading this comment on TH-cam.
@@AkaneTendo yah I did tell her. Fortunately, we just misunderstood each other a little bit. We're okay now. Thanks guys for caring about me - really don't think sbd will reply to my cmt
i really felt that after love heartbreaks and healing, i got matured and grow more.
Is no one going to appreciate the fact ted-ed decided to use an LGBTQ+ example? Props to representation
Edit: Y’all are fighting it out in the replies…thanks for the 800 likes ♥
Noticed that. That's a beautiful way of explainin ❤
APPRECIATE? Y'ALL NEED HELP LOL
I hv shared it with u all of my community frnds
@@kh41245 Cry us a river 🤣 mad cause we’re on top
No one should care ot appreciate it. If people do care about that stuff, the hate and missunderstanding will continue
the guy ending the rollercoaster on his own 🥲
i love how teded just illustrates fallin in love by bringing 2 men. thats so sweet
Now, i can successfully call those things I love - You're my Dopamine. Also thanks Ted-Ed for voicing and bringing out the issue. Lots of people die because of rejection and unable to accept the situation. It may help them to reconsider it and giving life another chance, accepting life as it is.
"Given time and the support, most can heal and learn from even the most devastating heartbreak." 👏
okay ted-ed definitely left us hanging, crying for ep 2
IM CRYING THIS IS SO CUTE
the animation is so awesome!! they killed it fr
i also love how the colors in the guy’s bedroom is rainbow :)
The research is beautifully animated and expertly summarized. Also, Good Luck to anyone looking for love nearing the end of 2022 and into 2023.
I ❤️how every ted-ed video is soo different in terms of animation style and colour pallets ..it's like channel is collection of animation types..
I was really down these couple of days and this video made me cheer up. That quote by Maya Angelou at the start is gold 💕
The music and the explanation makes me think that I had gone through all these experiences.
Nooo I was so invested I forgot it's a Ted Ed video 😭
I thought their relationship will keep getting wholesome..I feel sad
this is so beautiful, thank you TED!
5:30 undoubtedly one of the toughest post-breakup moment
‘The loss of love is the most abject pain’, Frankl. 😢
Can we also appreciate how good the animation is !!!
Cudos for illustrating this TED lesson so beautifully in a non-heteronormative way that
is both refreshing and authentic. Thank you. 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍
How do you relate to this as a straight guy?
this will never not break my heart every time i watch it
They called "love at first sight" in literature :)
I also think that eye contact for the first time is vastly effective to falling in love with somebody :)
I agree, eye contact can be so powerful.
I saw a guy at work a few months ago and thought he was cute but didn’t think much else of him. It wasn’t until we made eye contact for the first time that I fell in love, and to this day every time we make eye contact I feel the same, but I’m too nervous to ask him out 😅
A story telling masterpiece.
The rotoscoping is beautifully done
I've never seen a drawn animation in this style look so tridimensional, I can't understand what gives it this depth effect
I think it might be a style where they record actual footage and trace over it
@@duckydoombringer9206 so a rotoscope?
I have so many questions about life, so TED-Ed is here for all of us, Thank you TED-Ed!
To feel love and the feeling of being loved promotes healing! It's perfectly healthy!
I love the way ted just make this video animation to be a love between to man. That makes it more special to me
Nope it makes it worse
You suck@@RE_24yo
This video also shows me how addictive we are to phones. Just even a message ping can cause us to stop everything else to check that message.
Do one about those of us who don't feel infatuation as acutely as others!
Yes, ace spectrum representation is much needed as we're basically invisible nowadays
The animation in this video is top-tiered. ❤
I agree
The animations, the presentation, the transition is undeniably amazing
This channel is a Gem 💎
You are loved and cherished. You have nothing to fear. There is nothing you can do wrong. If I had to boil this entire message down to one sentence, it would run this way: You are loved. And if I had to boil it down further, to just one word, it would (of course) be, simply: Love.
All of those things are untrue buddy

A thousand years is but an instant. Build beautiful artifacts, solve problems, explore the secrets of the physical universe, savor the input from all the senses, filled with joy and sorrow and laughter, empathy, compassion, and tote the emotional memory in your travel bag. I remember where I came from, and how I became human, why I hung around, and now my final departure's scheduled. This way out, escaping velocity. Not just eternity, but Infinity.
i love the animation, it's so cute!! 🤧💖
it changes it from sane to insane
Thanks a lot if you see this!!!
yessss
I love the way they use 2 guys as a lover. It makes me smile as a part of the rain ow community❤️❤️❤️
Attraction is temporary, so it breaks, mends, breaks :)
TedEd just knew their assignment and nailed it to perfection. The subject, the narration and the animation is all just 💯💯
Not him finishing the roller coaster ride alone 😢 Ted Ed really wants us all to cry 😞
