When I did this on my 62 project it was so rusty that about 25% of the spot welds were no longer holding it on, lol. That was 6 months ago. Been repairing my rusty A pillars ever since, they were pretty bad. Once done I can seal them with encapsulator and install the new panel. It is tedious work, but very rewarding once done. I found your channel back when I had a few hundred subs and started my 62 project. :)
Oh Steve I am feeling your pain😅..You have been such a Help on my 60 Apache....We lovingly call "PATCHY".1st cut is the hardest....Great that your back...GOD Bless ya and ur Fam
Now I know how it's done Brother. Darn mice cause more rust damage then anything else and seem to get into the smallest of places. Thank You, and again I'm glad to see you back Brother. Keep On Trucking Brother Gibs👍...
Man. You need to go back and see his red c10 that he did. You'll enjoy them. Trophy winner. I saw some of his Trophies on that one🏆. Truck Driver Ray ✝️
I was wondering why not repair the roof skin. But seeing it off makes sense. Cannot wait to see your next video. I have a 71 c10 that needs this same treatment.
Say Paul. I did too. Steve is a great teacher. I have a 62 BBW FLTSIDE SHRTBED as well I'm going to start on and I've learned alot from him. Truck Driver Ray ✝️
Thanks again for a top notch video that we needed. I too have it to do on my 62 BBW STEPSIDE SHORTBED. Appreciate you man. Oh and someone mentioned that paint has lead in it that you might need a respirator while grinding. Thanks. Truck Driver Ray ✝️
what brand spot weld cutter do you use. I have tried the HF variety and they dont cut very well or last very long. Good to see you back on line again. Awesome work
hey bud i have a question for you from inside the cab of the truck to the out side roof skin how much empty space is there? im asking because i want to make a head liner of my own at home and want to use screws to mount it but i dont want to go through to the outside skin for obvious reasons lol so what length screws can i use?
I have question not related to the roof skin but about the engine in the blue c10. What engine was it and who did you order it from. Thanks Steve. Trucker Ray ✝️
Not sure if it's the "correct" name but they used to call those "Nippers". All the tile guys used them for chipping away (fitting) the edges of ceramic tiles.
Say Brother. Truck Driver Ray here. You might look at LMC TRUCKS for your roof skin or at BROTHERS TRUCKS. I too have a 63 and 62 I'm going to take this knowledge from Steve Gibson and apply it to mine. Hope you find your panel. Truck Driver Ray ✝️
Right on. About 4 min or so in the video you can see the tear passenger side dented in as he was doing spot welds. Too as he said to repair the see through front and side panels, it's easier to weld them and grind and treat the rust with skin off. Truck Driver Ray ✝️

I was wondering why not repair the roof skin. But seeing it off makes sense. Cannot wait to see your next video. I have a 71 c10 that needs this same treatment.
Very systematic with the pressure washer. It drives me crazy when I see people go about their business in a Willy Billy fashion!

Sweet! You gonna do any sound mat/foil while you have it opened up? I know your a music man!
Yes will be doing the sound mat no doubt
👍
I Love your work but wouldn't an air hammer be better to punch out spot welds?
Damn man where you been? I haven’t seen any of your videos in over a yr.
hey bud i have a question for you from inside the cab of the truck to the out side roof skin how much empty space is there? im asking because i want to make a head liner of my own at home and want to use screws to mount it but i dont want to go through to the outside skin for obvious reasons lol so what length screws can i use?
hmmm no answer???? bummer :(
I have question not related to the roof skin but about the engine in the blue c10. What engine was it and who did you order it from. Thanks Steve. Trucker Ray ✝️
Sweet…
Looking good Brother. What your dogs name?
Baby girl
That old paint is lead paint. Should have a respirator on.
steve where did you get the bull nose pilers at let me know i need some
I got these pliers from an estate sale with a few other tools
Not sure if it's the "correct" name but they used to call those "Nippers". All the tile guys used them for chipping away (fitting) the edges of ceramic tiles.
Looks like some mice are now evicted.
Where will they live now. 😅
What happened to the 59?
My brother took the 59 back home with him he will be going through the brakes and a few things himself, but the old truck still running good
What ever happened to the Blue 59 Apache you had?
My brother took his 59 Apache back to his place, old truck still running good
Where do you order your panels from for the metal? Looking to buy some for my pops 63
He answered another Q/A panel question. He said CLASSIC PARTS.
Where do you get your sheet metal panels?
Classic Parts
I'm dumb. I'm not tryingvto be a dick. Why did the roof need to come off?
Tree fell on the roof to much damage and work to straighten out the metal, plus have some rust issues that will be easier to fix with the roof off

Ok, cool im going to subscribe and see how this turns out. thanks guys
