I have a 1962 Holden sedan here in Australia and it too has a wrap around windscreen. This video has been priceless in aiding me to now install my windscreen correctly and sanely!!! (Having had 3 failed and frustrating attempts so far)
Going to be tackling this soon in two… one ‘62 GMC because it has dried out original and one ‘63 because it has a replacement without the trim groove (which it needs). Excellent video. Thank you.
Gives full directions and the confidence to get this intimidating job done! So much better to get this job done yourself! There aren’t many glass guys left, that will do the old school weather strip glass install!
I had a ‘62 C-10 and replaced the windshield by myself. You’re right about being in the right state of mind. Had I been in a hurry or frustrated, the installation wouldn’t have been successful. The windows on a C-10 up through a ‘63 are not cheap. Great advice to have a friend assist in the install, even though it can be done by yourself. Great series and company. I used Brothers exclusively when I was rebuilding my ‘62. Outstanding OEM (or better) quality! Thank you!
Nothing better than having 2nd set of hands to help on window project such as that . Form window cleaner I may need try that myself & saving this video very helpful especially if your replacing a car or truck window for first time.

Thank you so much, this instructional video should be “set in stone” as the go to instructional video for wrap around windscreens. It’s taken me 3 failed and frustrating attempts so far before watching your video, I now know where I was going wrong, I was at the point where I was about to pay for someone else to do it! Not now, I feel confident and in the right frame of mind to do it one last time and do it right! Cheers mate.
Great Video. I would really like to see how you guys make it watertight. We all now the sealing process is what makes the job difficult and messy. Thank you for the videos great work.
I learned a lot from this video. Looking forward to installing my windshield in the 58 GMC 100. I also learned, get friends with big hands, and not the little guys...makes it easier when it comes to tapping/pounding on the windshield to seat it...
You are the man! Thankyou so much. I've worked in the industry for years and hadn't done a rope in gasket style windshield. Your video was very informative!
I consider this a 5 beer job by yourself. Use a 1” ratchet strap to keep pressure on the glass. I didn’t have 1/4 rope but I used round weed eater string. Excellent video from a respected professional.
Wow! Super in depth. Some people explain what they are doing while they do it. He teaches you how to do this! I tried this before watching and resolved to pay someone to do it. I believe I am going to give this another try myself.
Worked in a body shop as gopher in the 60's and we had a glass installer come in. I dont know how he did it, or if he did it correctly, but he could install this type of w/s, which was common then, in less than 30 minutes. Should have paid closer attention! Have watched this twice in prep to install in my own 63 that I bought new in 64. Thanks for the tips. Your video is a huge help.
I was just talking about replacing the windshield in my 60'. I've done a lot of flat glass windshields...this one has me a little worried! Perfect timing on this video, thanks!
Good tip to smooth those sharp factory seams........ Had to clean up a little seam rust area prior to installing my replacement windshield. Used some JB weld to make it look pretty again.
I'm doing a resto mod on a 60 Tbird with a curved windshield and it is cracked. I've purchased a new glass and seal but I have not had any luck finding any glass companies willing to replace it for me at any cost. I was terrified to attempt it myself, that is until I watched your video! You have increased my confidence to the point that I feel I can do this with the help of a couple of friends. The installation is still 6 months away but I feel ready to do it! Thank you for this video!
I want to thank you for this really helpful video. I had to replace the headlining on my 1963 Humber Super Snipe series IV (an English car) and needed to remove and replace the front and rear wrap-around windscreens. I was completely lost on the front windscreen and nearly gave up in despair, as it didn’t seem to fit. I followed your instructions and managed to get it in today. Many thanks…this is the very best video and advice I’ve seen. Nice work.
60-66 are my favorite years in Chevy Trucks and I've had a few "Knee Knockers". I'm 6'2" and I've never hit my knees but I understand the knickname. 60 or 61 are my favorite years with the torsion bar suspension, double hump dash, knee knocker windshield and that beautiful hood! Best option would be to buy some cheap glass handling suction cups from Harbor Freight or something like that. Then spray some glass cleaner on the seal inside and out and try to pull it down with the handles on the cups. It might also need the rubber shifted around at the same time, good luck!
The process is the same on a truck with trim, except you place the trim in the rubber when you put the rubber on the glass but before you place it in the cab. We'll try and find a truck around here that has trim and need a window.

That was fantastic. I have a important question. often windshields will have a chrome insert in the glass rubber seal. Do you install it first before the roping in? Or do you install the chrome after wards and is there any special techniques?
That depends on the year of the truck and if it a hard stainless trim or a flexible Chrome trim. 99% of hard stainless will be inserted into the rubber BEFORE installing the glass into the truck. Flexible Chrome trim always gets installed after the fact.

First, we DO offer LS Swap kits and we even did a video on a swap on a '64 we messed with last year, here's that link: th-cam.com/video/A_G6MIdxeKU/w-d-xo.html. Hi Great videos. You explain very well.you are a good teacher. I am getting re as dy to install my windshield on my O'l Beater 54 Chevy. I am trembling. On the 54, do I instant the rubber to split and pass each end at the bottom, or the top?

I have had 2 professional glass installers trying to install the windshield on my 1959 Chev Apache pickup. I now have it all in except for the 2 bottom corners which stick out 1" each and the glass people have told me the glass is too wide. It is 58" wide, the same width as the one in a local car parts store. How do I finish it?
The only difference is that you'll need to get the trim installed into the rubber before you put the glass in the cab. So rubber on glass, trim in rubber, glass into cab.

Need advice on how to install my windshield on my 55 GMC. no instruction and no gap\slit in rubber seal either side for reference on center, top or bottom? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi
Great videos. You explain very well.you are a good teacher. I am getting re as dy to install my windshield on my O'l Beater 54 Chevy. I am trembling. On the 54, do I instant the rubber to split and pass each end at the bottom, or the top?
HELP !
@@juanbarturen2726 We always suggest coming together at the top, so start at the bottom and work your way up and around both sides first.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV Thank you. I got bgg the seal on. Wouldnt go on dry. So I sprayed it with windex can spray. Got her on. Letting it sit a couple of days. Trying to find a brave soul to come and Help me. Yeah they have Wuflu paranoia. Thanks. Git'er done

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I will thank you. If I had a way of sending you pictures of the O'l Beater 54
Would it be a good idea to put it back in the sun for a bit to let it conform to the glass?
I have had 2 professional glass installers trying to install the windshield on my 1959 Chev Apache pickup. I now have it all in except for the 2 bottom corners which stick out 1" each and the glass people have told me the glass is too wide. It is 58" wide, the same width as the one in a local car parts store. How do I finish it?
This is a question that's too difficult to answer via TH-cam comments. Please call our shop at 800-977-2767 and one of our techs will help you out.
Is there a video or plans for a video on fixing the rust holes in the upper corners of the windshield?
Not at the moment. We'll add that to our list. Thanks for the suggestion!
How do you package the windshields for shipment? Do most people receive them unbroken? Thanks.
We use a combination of foam, cardboard and wood. Very rarely does one get delivered broken.
Hey David do y'all have radio patch for 67 to 72 c10

Hi i have a 56 chevrolet and someone offered me a 62 windshield. Im wondering if it is the same windshield or if there any diference
You have taken all the scary out of replacement of a windshield! You still have to be cautious about the glass though!
Great video, will it leak?
Not unless you tear the rubber installing it.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV ok thanks, I installed one in a 71 f100 and a guy asked if I used a sealant in the rubber gasket to keep it from leaking.
do you use same process when you have chrome trim. Mine has factory trim which i will be reinstalling
The only difference is that you'll need to get the trim installed into the rubber before you put the glass in the cab. So rubber on glass, trim in rubber, glass into cab.
Does the 1958 chevy truck has the same window as the 1962 ??
Similar, but not exactly the same
do I need to use glass bedding compound for a 69 c10
No sir, no extra sealant needed.
So you dont need any adhesives or sealent?
No sir.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV thanks i installed a 1964 impala SS windshield today with your instructions. Did it with ease i saved $90 for windshield and $90 for rear glass. I appriciate your videos
