Great video! I am a hybrid shooter that just sold the Canon R5C and picked up the A7Rv so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how it does for video in real world use.
Thanks Donovan! Yeah i’ve used it for a project this week and loved the results. At a boxing event tonight so might try and make a youtube video whilst i’m there. Enjoy the camera mate!!
Next week (I hope!) we have a showdown of the A7Siii against the A7Rv... but so far, I'm LOVING the A7Rv especially now that Adobe have got the Raw files working with Lightroom
Great video. I was surprised little to no one did the same comparison. I don’t own the 7SIII but the imagem quality of the 7RV even without grading is amazing.
@@luisfaustino yeah they are pretty close to between the two cameras! I have a really interesting video coming soon though… i’m surprised how far the R of Sony cameras has come, especially against the S. maybe the S is a thing of the past
@@DannyBligh yep I can only imagine the 7SIV (coming this year in my estimates) will be a beast. Next year A9 III will deliver the roundup of improvements in time for Olympics and Euro, then A1 II picking the best from the best and then add more.
I can make that happen for sure, honestly it'll now be after Christmas it's filmed and edited but I'm sure I can get something together in the new year. Hope that's okay? Have a good Christmas! And thanks for the support
@@DannyBligh Hey mate, I've started shooting with the camera some more, really looking forward to your vid on color grading, hope it comes out soon! Will be incredibly helpful, especially if you can cover what LUTs you might use to speed things up etc., cheers!
Thanks for video, I'm considering this camera coming from Fuji, is there a way for stills to set picture profile to get sharp saurated (posibly close to Fuji colours) straight out of camera or with very little colour grading as my PC won't take huge files for that reason
You could shoot jpg the same as fuji and create your own creative style for stills. Similar to how the fuji works but nowhere near the same in terms of versatility
Great video, and definitely helpful. May be stupid, but would love to see a video on shooting in s-log3. I haven't tried it yet, but definitely need to.
Thanks Scott! Not stupid at all, already done a video in shooting in s-log3 for the a7siii, the settings and method is identical on the a7rv th-cam.com/video/BQa7ZfVNP1Y/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps!
Hey, it would be a lifesaver if you could make a video of how you use profiles and LUTS to grade. I struggled with using the zebras and would constantly try to pull up and down my aperture/shutter speed/ISO to make my video lighter or darker to compensate for the change in light, which made my videos look like they were varying from being under to overexposed. I did this to keep the zebra threshold in the correct place when filming so when I applied my LUT it wouldn't be blown out or black in some areas. I hope I explained that correctly. I even bought an Atomos Ninja V+ to help use false color while recording video - but if it is possible to not use it I am definitely leaning towards that option! Are you able to show how you keep your camera in the right exposure without using an external monitor?
One step ahead of you mate ;) Already filmed the video you need! I'm just finishing the last couple of bits and it'll be up in the next week or so. I have the NinjaV but don't use it, not got time for that! Keep an eye out
@@DannyBligh You're the best, thanks so much! The Ninja purchase was a waste of my time, for more documentary and slow work I am sure it could be helpful where I film lots, but for normal use I don't want to be burdened with it. I'll keep my eyes out. :)
No, i’ve been shooting full uncompressed mainly but there’s a shoot I did just before xmas where I did compressed and the results were great. I’ve got a full indepth video about the lossless stuff coming in the new year
@@markshirley01 certainly is expensive! I think that the A7iv is a solid camera for most people but if you want that little bit more, you can’t go wrong with the R5
I think as standard from the factory pp7 is s-log2, but you can change any of the pp's to be any colour, gamma or setting you wish. They are essentially just presaved options ready to be customised if the user wishes
Stole your tips but still liked commented and let the video play through for the algorithm! Thanks!

I’m so grateful for you making this video! I’ve searched and searched and couldn’t find any info on how to film in Slog3 on this camera!
It’s my pleasure!! There’s a few other videos on the channel which may help on that topic also

+1 for grading video, nice tips, keep em coming
I’ll get a plan together shortly! There is a video from last week about colour grading but using lightroom, might be useful if you do photography too

Great video! Very helpful. Any recommendations on Picture Profile (PP) for wildlife and nature stills? (Sony a7r IV)
Thank you! Don’t use any profiles for stills, shoot raw and edit in lightroom 🤌🏻

Any PP you recommend for vlogging?
Any PP will do. I personally use Slog3 all of the time but if i weren’t confident with grading, cine4, scinetone or even standard would do just fine

@DannyBligh hi mate. Where I can find video regarding the color grade ? Regards
Do you have internal luts and vv2 color profile on that camera ? Thx
The only internal luts are the monitoring luts that you can turn on and off. They do not effect the final footage
