    I've seen about 8 reviews of the Sony A7RV and some say don't use for video and some say use for video. Since I now own a Sony A7RV with a couple of Sony GM II lenses, I can positively say A7RV does extremely good video all the way up to ISO 6400, above that and I start to see some grain but haven't really needed to go above 6400. 8K video is not good unless you do slow moving pans on landscape, but 4K60 in all situations works extremely well and HDR and much improved color accuracy.

    Hi , Is the Full frame Xtra fine 26 MP JPEG also benefitting in Low light on A7R5 compared to 61 MP JPEG. Can u suggest on it .
    i am basically a JPEG shooter and confused between buying a74 and a7r5 , i have good budget for a7r5 and will pull the plug for it , if 26 MP JPEG is also benefitting in low light. You can shoot in 61MP in good lighning for extra detail and resolution on A7R5 and switch to 26 MP for low light benefits if light goes down.
    i have read that medium RAW benefit in low light , but so should 26 MP jpeg too , just wanted to confirm with you on it . Thank you.

    Just watched your video.
    Great video, and a fair enough review.
    A couple of points from me though:
    a7rv is a hybrid camera, but it’s mainly a photography camera. It’s purpose is to mainly shoot photos. 61MP are way to many pixels, meaning they are quite small physically (thus not best for low light) and give issues such as rolling shutter since the amount of data being processed is extremely big. A professional videographer won’t even look at a7rv for video. Given all that, I only find a7rv usable for being on a tripod to shoot videos with not much movement like you tube videos.
    On the other hand Fx30 & a7siii are video oriented, and have a low resolution of 12 MP, because it gives advantages like low rolling shutter and greater low light performance since the corresponding sensor’s pixels are bigger.
    For someone who’s a professional videographer/photographer having both these types of cameras is a must.
    Overall, still a1, sony’s flagship is a better option over the a7rv for those who have the budget, but still, a7rv is an excellent photography camera.
    Anyway, let’s also wait for sony to reveal something like an a7siv or a7sv in the upcoming years. I believe they are going to adapt the AI features of a7rv

    • @robainscough
      @robainscough 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      But you don't have to operate at 61 MP when doing video, in fact, you will not be for 4K60 so I don't really understand why some reviewers (not all) skip this? There is also multiple formats to choose from if one doesn't have a CFEXpress card in the slot(s). Image stabilization works well for my A7RV especially with Sony's GM II lenses. I don't find any low light issues with camera modes setup correctly (I map 3 modes to the wheel one specifically for very low light).

    • @picturesfocused3115
      @picturesfocused3115 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi,
      Rolling shutter and image stabilisation are different things (in case you are referring to it).
      Because you are mentioning 4K60fps:
      At 4k60 you get 1.2 cropped and binned image sequences from an 8K sensor.
      Cropped means not good. Also binned means not good. a7siii/fx30 are still winners in this category.
      Regarding low light, the dual base ISO resulted from the larger sensor pixels, at 640 and 12800 that the a7siii and fx30 offer is unbeatable - pair it with slog3 gama curve and you get an out of this world result.
      I’ll say it again, a5rv is a great camera for both video and stills. But if you want to shoot a high end movie - you just can’t go with it.

    • @robainscough
      @robainscough 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@picturesfocused3115 I've shot commercial TV footage on a GoPro and iPhone so not really sure what your reference is to "high end movie" ... seems a bit generic. If you are referring to big budget films then none of the above and more like cameras/lens in the $300,000+ range.
      Yes I know rolling shutter and image stabilizations are different, not sure why you brought that up?
      Back to the Sony A7RV, yes 4K60 4:2:2 10 bit is 1.24 crop ... sorry but 12MP of the A7SIII just isn't in the same ballpark as the Sony A7RV.

  • @martzallmedia

    Why are people hating on the a7r5 video? Only difference is low light (no 12,800 dual gain) and no 4k120. Can still shoot 1080 120 in 10bit 420 in S&Q mode. To me, noise and low light is the biggest difference. Also great photography with that resolution. Rolling shutter isn’t that bad except in 8k and crop mode in 24 and 30. Ibis is insane on a7r5 and auto focus is everything you’ll ever need. Seems future proof.

      @@Trillavision I ending up going with the Nikon Z8 and it was absolutely the right call. I forgot about Nikon's video side, but they were off the grid for a while. This one packs a huge punch; onboard raw, 8K, 12 bit, etc. It blows any other DSLR out of the water 'and' still has 45+ mp still photos. For me on vacation, this was amazing. I just got back from Europe and it was so easy flipping back and forth from still to video, knowing that I was getting professional video. The tricky thing is, though, that it shoots Nikon's raw (N-raw) or ProRes raw. You have to decide what you're editing in... ProRes works in Premiere but not Resolve... N-Raw works in Resolve but not Premiere.

    These videos increasingly sound like sales pitches. It makes it very hard to see what is actually worth buying and what is not, especially at such premium prices. And the omission of 4k 120fps actually is a huge big deal. Shooting at 4k 120fps is actually essential for close up scenarios. And second to that it can be very useful when you don't want to use a gimbal. Sony have removed it from the A7rV feature list to give you a reason to buy their FX30.

    • @chrisbrockhurst
      @chrisbrockhurst  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you don't want the free info were putting out no offence taken fella, all your witnessing is excitement about new features from someone who uses cameras for a living. 120fps isn't an omission from my understanding, it's a different camera with a different sensor to prioritize MP and Photos so likely not possible in a stable form. A7SIII and FX3 have 12mp sensors that prioritize video.

    • @Steve31000

      @@chrisbrockhurst Free info is great but I think fair critique is extremely important. Maybe I am wrong but being an influencer might remove that ability. I don't mean that in any negative way towards you, it just makes it harder and harder to know what is 'true' when one is considering spending thousands on a new camera body. All these latest cameras have pros and cons for sure but it's getting harder to find out what the cons are in advance and if they make or break my use case for said camera.

    😂 Chris… come on… A7RV is NOT for video. The rolling shutter alone is a big problem, let alone the pixel binning and crop. Just go for the Z9 if you want an affordable 8k camera, otherwise, the A7siii packs the biggest punch for the price $$$

    • @chrisbrockhurst
      @chrisbrockhurst  ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you used it?

    • @petersuvara
      @petersuvara ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@chrisbrockhurst No, I have used the A7siii, Z9, A7IV, D850 and A7RIV. Given the great tracking performance in 8K on the Z9, I decided to stick with that as the hybrid go to. But the A7Siii is still king of video. 8K files are huge and slow, even for a fully powered Mac M1 Max. Haven't tried the M1 ultra. If you want to focus on video, I would recommend the FX3 instead of the ARV. The only thing I do regret is not getting the FX3 instead of the A7siii. The only camera I would categorise as "great" for video is the A7siii. The rest are good.
      It is all about semantics really isn't it. I just feel that talking up the video as being great on the A7RV is a bit misleading when there are far better choices for video.
      DPReview's video capabilities show clearly it's underwhelming. Also, the northrups did a test on the AF against the A1 and the A1 performed better for wildlife.
