Joel definitely has more chops on guitar, but calling adam untalented is stupid. he plays guitar, drums (originally), records bass, and is a GREAT producer who has produced countless bands.

Joel is a very humble guy. There are glimpses of his incredibly slick technique all over the place but it tends to blend into the mix without being that obvious. I just think Adam and Joel have different strengths.
Joels tone is just nuts.
Bridge is so amazing in this song! Every chord and sounds just fits together so beautifully :D

The typical 'metalhead' mentality on the comments' section here where people think just because Adam states that Joel plays clean, that he is not up to standard. That's not what he was insinuating at all. Grow up people, seriously.
The clean part is even the harder part of the two. Anyone that says he's getting the clean part because he's less skilled is a troll or ignorant.
well if they watched more of what adam d says about joel they would know that hes the real mastermind behind alot of the riffs, adam just adds a few parts to hash it out.

"Joel plays clean". More of a statement about the quality of Joel's playing than a legit burn. I love the sound of both these guys before anybody kicks off.

1st and 2nd verse riff, as well as the bridge riff is just too fucking amazing, these guys really made the best riffs apart from aild

@thedonutboy21 all you do is play the correct note with the volume turned down, and then use the volume dial to quickly turn the volume up and down at the right time. (I think it might be 2nd fret for one of them and 12th for another on drop C, but not sure...)

I love joels caparison dellinger guitar. Adams Parker Fly is pretty sick too, ive never seen him use it live.

I respect both guys equaly, (huge fan and all) but don't forget that Adam also produces a number of bands including KSE (exept the latest album) and he used to play drums in early killswitch.

oh, that's right. I forgot about that. haha. Well, I know they used boogies in their older performances and Ive talked to Joel and he said that they used Boogies for recording back then. I'm assuming that they used Boogies at some point then :)

If he only had just a smidge of distortion when Joel plays that clean part.....I think it would sound closer to the record. Like seriously, a very tiny amount.

I wouldn't say that Killswitch Engage is my favorite band (but they are awesome), but it's hard to find better guitarists than these two...not to mention, they're fucking hilarious.

what the hell is that chord adam plays at 5:36 ?? sure doesn't sound like a regular C power chord to me and I can't figure out anything that sounds like it played in that position.
Did you figure it out yet? I figured 4 years now, you'd know what he was doing, if not, He's playing an inverted chord by using a root and a low 5th, instead of the normal higher 5th.
And ... like anything done by Experts ... it looks effortless...

ive always got mine in Drop C because of the nice open power chord and most of the metal songs i learn are in drop c

I honestly love anything played in dropped C tuning because it gives that "heavy yet melodic" vibe! But I'm also a sucker for drop B tuning like from bands like mudvayne, parkway drive etc... to name a few!
