A perfect example of Bird ...Off the ball....1981 Championship game against the Rockets! Bird is all over the court.... Not once did you ever see him hang back Or not actively doing something! That's where "Team Play" ..to me...is far superior to the ....oohs & aahs....gotten by a great athlete!
The one thing for sure that MJ, Kobe and Bird had in common was there work ethic. They absolutely lived and Breathed for love the game

In that last game against Jordan, Bird was wearing a heavy back brace. He had some incredible games in his last two years while wearing it, including that famous 49 point triple double against the Trailblazers. Good commentary bro, but I think the narrator might've been a bit biased?? But Isiah definitely has no love for MJ. LOL. 😂😂

Hey. I enjoy the content. When you talk about MAMBA mentality. That goes to LARRY LEGEND.... This man played injured and still produced at a high level. So, the LEGEND had it before Kobe. You have to look up all the injuries he went through and stillplayed and performed. You would be amazed.

Here is why Bird is the GOAT.
Bird is the closest to the embodiment of mastering the original style/old school team game concept of basketball: The game invented by Dr. Naismith.
No other player had ever mastered so many elements of the game like Bird…then Jordan came along.
Wilt Chamberlain said that he thought Larry was the best he’d seen because he did so many things great and that he “Played the game correctly”.
Kareem said he was the smartest player with the highest IQ.
Dr. J called him a basketball genius, and that it was like they were playing checkers , while he was playing chess.
Larry Bird’s was the grandmaster of basketball.
All of his contemporaries as well as the early past greats before him all praised him, J. West, Maravich, O. Robertson, Wilt, Russell, Cowens, Havlicek…there is literally no player who played before him, with him, or during his era that would deny that he was the best all around player they had ever seen.
That is because he was understanding the game on the highest level and playing the game as it was intended to be played and the way that it WAS played…Before Jordan came along.
IMO Michael Jeffery Jordan ruined the game of basketball.
Being able to jump over people and having extraordinary athleticism that allows you to bypass the simplest of strategies, like say:
(PASSING TO AN OPEN TEAMMATE when you are double teamed.)might look spectacular, but it’s not going to improve your basketball IQ.
Jordan chose to soar over understanding the game Bird had mastered on the ground.
Instead of a no look Larry dime to an open teammate, Jordan keeps it and draws the foul (pad his stats)
Everybody was amazed and mesmerized by Jordan’s acrobatics and (without Len Bias to rival him) the media and the NBA (and Nike) hyped and brainwashed the entire world into wanting to be like Mike, and the mentality of the game became a 1on1 pissing contest, that continued on until it evolved into what it is today: An individual 3pt pissing contest.
No one will ever be as skilled as Bird was in so many different ways because the game no longer is played the way it was intended…the way that the Legend mastered.

But even Jordan was against the 3pt. being overly used above all else! He voiced it before it became what it is today! He was not a big team player we all know that. But he did at least recognize at some level that it is supposed to be a team sport!
What people need to understand when MJ and the college players played against the nba players the nba all stars were split up. These games were not to toughen the college players up. The games were used to build confidence.
I understand what your saying about Jordan having nobody his first few years. But lets remember Bird comes into the league to a team that won only 29 games the year before. Bird didnt have any of the players with him. No Mchale, no Parrish, no Walton, no Dennis Johnson and no danny ainge. Yet he led the same team that won 29 games the year before to 61 wins without any of those great players.
michael never beat Larry in the playoffs but regular season games 11 to 17 favor Larry
To be fair that college team Jordan beat bird with had three members of the dream team on it but they were still college kids so still impressive

It didn't help obviously that Bird had bone spurs in both of his feet. 'But I think the worst was that they never got any time to rest! They just got done fighting their way through several games against the Hawks... before they had to battle Pistons! I guess they didn't really have anyone in their back lineup to help give these guys a rest! They were playing so many minutes every single game.....thats a lot of wear and tear on the body with no time for rest at all! It was an all-star game with them against the college kids so it wasn't just Larry Bird! Lol.

Regardless, I DON'T think this video will reverse the GOAT opinion/mind of any person in EITHER the Bird or Jordan camp. However, the video does give open-minded fans something else to think about. Something else that I’ll add. Everyone wants to say that Jordan had no help on that team and it is true that the Celtics had the better team but there were three Hall of Famer‘s on Michael Jordan’s Chicago team.
Outside of the George " Iceman " Gervin Who was in his final year playing in the league who was on that team I know Charles Oakley was there but I can't think of the rest off hand
@@GoldenGrimmettProductions MJ, Oakley and Gervin. We’re your HOF players but they had some sharp shooters including Kyle Macey and some big men that could contribute as well. Nothing like Parish and McHale but good. MJ admitted in an interview years later that if he would have used Gervin the way he should have the outcome might have been different. I don’t think the Bulls had near enough talent to beat the Celtics but if Jordan would have used his team more the could have for sure pulled out 1 or 2 wins out of 6.
