What a day that was. Was there with a woman I loved very much and this moment was magical. It pretty soon all fell apart but I kind of think if we had met much later in life love might have been kinder to us. Still, its a wonderful song and I always think of her when I hear this.
@@mrdeafa25 That was a nice message. It's easier said than done as everybody tells you the same " life will get better " but my friend never forget the happy memories and we would have the day's back in a heartbeat 💓. All the best and have no regrets. Wrong decision right time or wrong time right decision.

Love this song. Eternally, one of the GREATEST EVER written, and sung, by this young man, in his day. Sincere Aloha and God bless on the journey ahead.
Couldn’t get enough of Style Council growing up in New Zealand when I was young. Had to wait patiently for radio stations to play any of their music. The joy now of being able to sit back and listen at my own leisure is just absolutely blissful. Will never ever tire of his amazing voice.
I think that's Dee Cee Lee on backing vocals.they got married and divorced. She did a ducking beautiful song called "see the day" where she's walking through a deserted Trafalgar square.it's very moving imo!
Goose bumps 40 years later! I was so lucky the share a beer with Mick Talbot back stage back in 2003 in Oslo. Playing the Council every day on my piano.❤
The abrupt key change from A major to F” major is beautiful and way ahead of its time, and the transition back to A major is smooth and seamless. Such a great bit of writing.

Another great song from the style council brilliant and hard to believe that this is 1985 my son was 2yrs old now he's nearly 40 how the years fly by love this walk down memory lane
This is absolutely beyond fantastic!! I love this band! They were just waaaaayyyy!!!!, ahead of their time. Listen to those beats, those arrangements and just the sheer energy of this band!! Be it, slow groove, chamber groove or just a regular pop funk groove this band could carry over now and sound as relevant ( even more so today) than most of this music today!! I am serious and direct in saying this too! This band has a sound that just lasts through time!! Just incredible!!
Just the most happy memories ever. Cool band and great song. Sadly time doesn't stand still and 40 year's ago we all have the love and memories of such a happy day. A day l would have back in a heartbeat. Love to you all ❤

I'll have to revisit some more bands that I missed and or forgot. Great Era!!
What does this mean by caricature of themselves? Are you saying that every other performer that day is a caricature of themselves in 2023? A bit harsh, makes little sense...😂
@oldwight6703 it was meant to mean that the other acts that day are now on their 100th greatest hits tour or playing the 80s weekenders at Butlins ....Not many out there on tour promoting albums of new material as serious artists 👍
@kevinmassey7675 I went to Billy Ocean live here in Australia a month ago. Sure, he does a lot of retro festivals too. But he did play two songs off his 2020 album and they sounded great. It's not Mr Ocean's fault that all marketing and the pleb "entitlement" generations focus instead on junk music produced on autocue.
@oldwight6703 Much respect to Billy Ocean , a fine voice and some brilliant songs .....but when I posted about "performers on that day," I meant the performers at Live Aid and specifically, at Wembley....
The new wave era. For me it's the best. I was 15 then. This is my favorite song by the Style Council, You're the best thing. So cool. My ever changing mood is also one of my favorites.
I remember this; I just finished high school, came home from working my summer job at Howard Johnson’s. Caught the last bits of the concert. Such a beautiful collaboration for a worthy cause. Still love the music of the 80s. Style Council was one of my favourites. ♥️
He’s fantastic live! We’ve been lucky enough to see him 3 times the last time was a month ago. He’s got the voice of an angel…. My husband laughs at me when I say that!
maybe that is what the announcement could be about a new expanded DVD/Blu-Ray with full sets by every artist now that we are getting restored footage on this site of songs not included on the original DVD release
I was not shocked when this was not on the DVD release. IMHO, Paul's lyrics, which focused on political injustices, fair sharing of wealth & his fervent dislike of Thatcher, Reagan & the establishment, contributed to less than enthusiastic opinions within record companies & mainstream media in the USA & UK. Consequently, The Style Council never got the recognition & audience it deserved, which - in turn - meant that it would likely be a lower priority when the bean counters & marketing experts made decisons regarding the DVD release.
