I just wanted to say, you have the best, clearest, and easiest to understand videos I've seen for the LS swap on a squarebody. I'm currently 5.3 swapping my '84 C10, and these videos are a HUGE help. Thanks for your time in making these.
Hi! Great video, i just did this on my 82 C10 yesterday but now the battery voltage gauge isn’t working also the cluster lights don’t come on! Also on the diagram you’ve mentioned to tie #4 wire with #17 is that correct?
Great build Lonnie somthing you might check on for a tach that's factory is a gauge cluster in like a 2 ton Chevrolet of the 70s and 80s era the c60s c70s models they had a tach where the fuel is on your gauges and the fuel was under the tach smaller but in the same place idk if it would work with the new ls stuff but you could probably figure it out 👍
Kick ass video I did the same thing on my 1983 R10. I didn’t know about the temp sending unit that’s cool no more drilling and tapping the water pump thank. Do you now if the suburban came out with a tech? I like to put a factory tech on mine.
Say Lonnie I have a 1980 C10 Silverado, I installed a new 12 v circuit harness just the basic harness. I'm having trouble with the gauge cluster, I purchase a new printed circuit board, gauges, do the gauge cluster connector ever go bad , my FUSES are good. Keep in mind that I reconnect the old pig tail gauge cluster connector to the new 12 circuit harness.
Lonnie can I do this with the plug installed in the truck ? Your videos are so helpful and keeping me from Pulling my hair out at times when I get stuck
I install bench seat covers for living. If you order seat covers bench splits top and bottom. Bolts are 2 on each side just did seat today. Heat gun softens vinyl and pan cooking spray helps covers slide on top flip inside out roll down. Bottom lay flip upside down. Heat vinyl roll sides down. If you rip cover tiny bit super glue. Find holes feel for them razer blade new holes. Trn minute job. Foam I just put carpet bottom them spray glue donor foam shave down any way like turkey knife, sander, grinder, Rolla lock, just razer blade. Hell get good foam from junkyard.
I’m running true duals 2.5” from the hooker cast iron manifolds to an x pipe then from the x pipe I have 2 flowmaster super 40s then I have it dumped before the rear end
very good set of videos and I was able to acquire a 90-91 suburban cluster off of ebay, waiting for it. I was going to put in my Intellitronix, but with yours and OTHERS' youtube "reviews" I will junk it. I will use the 12-pin connector though for possible future other cluster options. I have a question on to where does the ALTERNATOR wire connect? thanks Also, I looked up that oil sending unit 19106970 and summitracing states that that sender is a safety switch. Is it also the sender unit as well?
Lonnie...... I bought an electronic gauge cluster and its coming with it's original pigtail. Do I still have to move pins around like you have done on this video or just connect matching the wires?
Sup buddy I have same gauges on my swap but for some reason my check engine light is not showing on the cluster when I move my key on start position even my brake light when is cranking can you tell me what's the reason you think I have my malfunction wire from my new harness connected straight to my cluster plug on the pin #16 and also my old choke wire I use that one for my battery warning light on the pin#5 that's correct or wrong then u comment using the pin#17 with pin#4 what's the reason use those together so my 17 is gonna be empty now?
Hey man. Love the videos. About to turn my ls swapped c10 over within the next couple days. Was wondering the part number for that 45 degree adapter you have for the oil pressure sending unit
Thank you sir, for the alternator wire did u also run it directly to the alternator? Sorry for so many questions I am just trying to get my wiring squared away, I am also more of a visual type of guy lol
I ran a separate wire for that. It’s a ground wire that comes from the computer to the light. I used an ignition hot wire for the positive so that way it would only be hot when the key was turned on.
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) so I got everything hooked up thanks to this vid everything works oil pressure voltage speedo fuel only thing is the coolant seems to read a little lower than what my ecm is getting
im swapping a 2000 5.3/4L60E combo into my '83 C10... Im looking at installing a '90 K5 Jimmy gauge cluster into my truck... Ive heard some people say you need the DRAC module to make the swap functional, but didnt see this in your vid... So im curious if i need to grab it? I found a '90 Jimmy thats being parted out... Thats why im asking
I’m sorry I’m not real smart at this, so the wire coming off the cluster is hot and need a ground from computer, where does the ground hook to on the cluster, it’s the same cluster that you installed, I went off your diagram, thanks
do you think I could wire the stock cluster that came out of the doner? I have 85 c10 getting the swap. Can you tell me what motor mounts you are using? thankyou
Oscar Hernandez I'm sure there is a way to wire in the donor cluster. I just don't know how and not to mention all the work it would take to make it form to the dash pad and look right. The mounts I'm using are from Tejas Steel Works. You can find him on Facebook. They allow the ac to stay in the stock location and also you can use the truck oil pan. It lets it set flush with the crossmember without worry of it getting hit.
Lonnie's Garage thanks for getting back to me so quick i plan to use the stock c10 cluster later(guages are shot) I just want the doner cluster to read for now. do you have a part # for the motor mounts

No Problem. Thank You For Watching Them. I hope your swap goes well. God Bless
Great vid. I upgraded the th400 to a 4L80 in my 85 suburban and just scored a 90-91 burb cluster
Heck yeah.
Great info Lonnie! Will be back for sure. Thank you so much, and thanks for sharing the truth of our Lord.
Thank you Lonnie your info really helps!
Thank you Lonnie! This is helping me tremendously! Your video is greatly appreciated! God bless you!
Thanks Lonnie! Worked great with all your provided details!
Great video
Bad ass build of a c10. And it's done right too. Can't wait for more vids

Your videos are going to help me a lot man when i start my swap thank you keep up the good work on your k10
Thank you and thanks for watching. Good luck on your project.
Thanks man for sharing this I just put a newer transmission in and I want the electric speedo now I know what I’m doing after work
Only works with a 90/91 suburban/blazer cluster.
I am trying to put one in right now but my 86 has more wires then your 84
your a life saver, I already have the 91 cluster, I just didn't know how to install it.
Chale Charros share the video if it helped bud
Gear vid thanks for taking the time in helping and explaining
No problem. Please if you haven't already share the videos, give them a like and subscribe...
Great tutorial!! Thanks for your time!!!!
No problem. This is why I do them. God bless. Please feel free to subscribe and share the videos.
Great job! All you illustrated should be helpful come time I do this on a 72 C20. God Bless.
Although the connections might be the same, the 72 has a different guage cluster
thans so much for your time
Oscar Hernandez no problem. Please share the video if it helps you and give it a like
Thanks for your videos!
Your welcome. Thanks for watching.
Thanks brother 100%help for me 👍🏼
Juan Rodriguez glad it helped. Please share it and give it a thumbs up. Don't forget to subscribe for future videos if your not already.

I have a silverado 92 and I put a 2000 dashboard on it and I want to change the cluster from 1992 to 2000 how do I connect the harness pins

No problem. Thanks for watching.
same process with lets say a 2001 silverado cluster that comes with a doner vechicle ?
Awesome job keep up the good work god bless

To be honest I have heard of some going bad but not very often
Lonnie can I do this with the plug installed in the truck ? Your videos are so helpful and keeping me from
Pulling my hair out at times when I get stuck
I would unhook the battery first.
Can I just use the speedometer? It didn’t come complete with all the other gauges…
What is your exhaust set up? Are you using straight pipe or cats and what mufflers?

Also, I looked up that oil sending unit 19106970 and summitracing states that that sender is a safety switch. Is it also the sender unit as well?
Or the pins on the connector no longer making contact with the gauge cluster printed circuit board? The pins look worn down
Lonnie what did you hook up to the number 5 dark green wire for the alternator
I hooked my alt wire to it
I’ve got a diesel suburban do you think that my pin relocation could be the same since I’m using a 1991 suburban cluster
Good question. I'm not sure but I don't see why not.
Did you use the intelectronix block temp sensor? the one I got doesn’t have a plug on it.
I used a 3 wire temp sensor because my computer needs to see the temp.
Where and how did you get for the wires went you got wrote down on the paper
That's nice, I have a 74 swb I want to LS swap it.
So I did a Gen 5 lt with holley I'm trying to get the speedometer to work the 2 wire coming on a vss on the transfer case where do they need to go
You will need an electric speedometer
Appreciate the vids !!!!
Lonnie...... I bought an electronic gauge cluster and its coming with it's original pigtail. Do I still have to move pins around like you have done on this video or just connect matching the wires?
What kind of gauge cluster and what truck are u putting it in?
awesome
Say Lonnie, would you know what type of pins, would I need for the connector, I would APPRECIATED very much, thanks for the info.
will you be adding a tach somewhere? I'm also working on my gauges
Julian Parra I want to. In thinking about looking for a stock tac for this cluster and it will move the fuel gauge to the lower left of the cluster.
Lonnie's Garage sweet brother. i have an obd2 bluetooth adapter for now linked to my phone for the gauges. I love all your vids. very helpful
Julian Parra Yeah u have one too
Sup buddy I have same gauges on my swap but for some reason my check engine light is not showing on the cluster when I move my key on start position even my brake light when is cranking can you tell me what's the reason you think I have my malfunction wire from my new harness connected straight to my cluster plug on the pin #16 and also my old choke wire I use that one for my battery warning light on the pin#5 that's correct or wrong then u comment using the pin#17 with pin#4 what's the reason use those together so my 17 is gonna be empty now?
Hey man. Love the videos. About to turn my ls swapped c10 over within the next couple days. Was wondering the part number for that 45 degree adapter you have for the oil pressure sending unit
That I don't have. I just went to the local parts store and they had some fittings.
How do the pins from the cluster harness come out??
On your bulk head wiring where did u add the wires for the speedometer and check engine light ?
Ran the speedometer direct and the check engine light is still hooked up to the stock one.
Thank you sir, for the alternator wire did u also run it directly to the alternator? Sorry for so many questions I am just trying to get my wiring squared away, I am also more of a visual type of guy lol
Do you have the wiring diagram or list for the original cluster wires by pin number and color
Check out ls swapped square body on Facebook
Where did you hook the check engine light at the computer
I ran a separate wire for that. It’s a ground wire that comes from the computer to the light. I used an ignition hot wire for the positive so that way it would only be hot when the key was turned on.
Great job, quick question were do you connect the speed wire?
I also bought the 91 cluster
If I have the wires that came with the cluster do I need to follow this procedure or just cut the wires and splice them accordingly
It will need to be repinned
Thanks i finally found one and since it maxes out at 85 I’m still going to use my obd2 for tach and speedo but I like how you did your tach
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) so I got everything hooked up thanks to this vid everything works oil pressure voltage speedo fuel only thing is the coolant seems to read a little lower than what my ecm is getting
Question on that 91 cluster there is two bulbs that have wires coming out of them how do they get wired? Thanks in advance
Can you send me a picture on Facebook?
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) I don’t have face book is there any other way I can send you a picture ? Thanks
does this swap just require the gauge cluster from the elect speedo trucks/suvs, or does it also require the DRAC module from the 90s truck?
The trans I used required an electronic speedo
im swapping a 2000 5.3/4L60E combo into my '83 C10...
@@splash5974 isn't the drac module the yellow box on the back
Do you happen to know if it’s possible to hook an ls harness up to factory cluster? I have an 86, I imagine it’s similar to your stock 84 cluster
Wade in the water the speedometer won't work. That's why I'm using this 90/91 cluster
I'm guessing that means I cant use the stock gauges in my 86 Chevy van?
I’m sorry I’m not real smart at this, so the wire coming off the cluster is hot and need a ground from computer, where does the ground hook to on the cluster, it’s the same cluster that you installed, I went off your diagram, thanks
I used a different led light for my check engine light. It is a really small one they will blink when there is a code.
Thanks I appreciate your help
im curious to how that is 90-91 cluster when the entire truck redesigned in 1988 as the 3rd gen. which has a totally different dash? thanks
my channel they still made these body styles up till 91
i used to own a 88 that was a 3rd gen i have never seen sq. body past 87....learn something new everyday i guess
my channel Yeah if u Google 91 chevy suburban it will show u
SUV kept the body ontil 92
did you use a 12v key for alternator (pin 5)? if not what did you hook up to ? thanks
Are u talking about the batter charge gauge?
do you think I could wire the stock cluster that came out of the doner? I have 85 c10 getting the swap. Can you tell me what motor mounts you are using? thankyou

Oscar Hernandez direct link to them...... squareup.com/market/tejassteelworks/item/c-ls-swap-mounts
Lonnie, this video is a lifesaver. Like you I am visually motivated!!! One question for you sir, what are you using for your VSS sensor?
Robert Craft I have a 4l60e
Where can I get new pins/part number for the cluster plug?
Michael Giarrusso I've got a parts list on a faceb for ls swapped square body's

Lonnie I am trying to find a cluster from a 91 suburban, doy you have an extra one? Can you sell it to me? I am in Fort Worth TX. Regards!
Sorry I don't have any extra ones
Lonnies garage where #5 ALT wire goes to in the original stock harness wire color
I wired in the temp sensor and the gauge just maxes out for me
You have something wired wrong then. Triple check bud.
@LonniesGarage I checked it, maybe the gauge doesn't work.
@@LonniesGarage sensor was bad rip

What are u talking about
nice work. my question the speed wire goes to the pcm? do u have a email
Israel Valle yes and yes my email is puppetkicker1@gmail.com
hey just curious wat happen to intellitronix
jermaine peterson there is a video covering that. It's like a couple videos before this one I believe
Shouldn’t 8 be Green. It started off green but ended up blue
Yes
No tack
Tac wire runs from the motors harness to the gauge.
I’m sorry on the cluster
I have a silverado 92 and I put a 2000 dashboard on it and I want to change the cluster from 1992 to 2000 how do I connect the harness pins
Did the ls swap page get shut down or did I get blocked lol
