Budget LS Square Body Fuel System

  • In this video, I show you guys my preferred way to put together a reliable and affordable fuel system for ‘73-‘87 LS Converted GM trucks. The majority of these parts are readily available at local parts stores, and I just really enjoy the way they come together. This setup is good for around 400HP. If your setup requires more fuel, I would recommend a genuine Walbro 255 or Aeromotive 340 pump, etc… Hope y’all enjoy! Feel free to comment or ask any questions you’d like. Thanks for stopping by!

    Good video, I do basically the same thing except I use 3/8" brake hard line with short hose pieces at connections. It works well with an external pump also with a 100 micron pre filter, in that case I return to the filler neck so you don't have to pull the tank. I also place the Corvette filter/regulator as far forward as possible so a cool supply of fuel dead heads into the fuel rail. I use Walbro 255 pumps for everything and on vehicles that might suffer from heat soak or vapor lock sometimes I install a T into the fuel rail and tap the outlet and install a Allen plug with a .5mm hole (.017") in it to return a small amount of fuel keeping everything cool. Works like a dream.

    I just Ls swapped an 84 k10.. I believe they installed a walboro pump on the rail, and it is very noisy. I installed a new tank with new pick up and sending unit a couple years previous…. My question is would a pump inside the tank be a lot quieter?

    • @walkerperformance7626
      @walkerperformance7626  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David. Yes, it would be much quieter, more efficient and you would see more longevity out of your fuel pump. Every conversion I do receives an in-tank pump. Externals are just a nightmare.

    I know O'Reilly's has rubber gates efi/e85 in bulk buy by the foot or w ,25foot hose I think part numer is like 17092 don't quote me on this and then they have buck barbs to screw into steel and efi hose clamp buy the box or each price isn't bad normally kept for commercial customers but they don't care to sell to a walk in I spent 7years as a manger and I would bet my truck title I could of gotten all those parts cheaper and if you buy much for like a restore then go in and ask to apply for a cash account it saves a ton on the little stuff or there the bendable steel stuff most people use for brakes but since the fittings are brass kinda illegal but seen a ton of them used but work great for fuel and transmission just ask if you can look at their fittings also there's some rolls of copperhead line it's actually can be used for brakes and it's fairly cheap and no bender needed just my two cents...when I get to that point on my square body I'm gonna run all metal lines like factory then depending if I carb 5.3 I'll thread it into the carb and if I efi I'll run metal to fire wall with a compression barb to efi hose

    I have two questions I’m doing the same setup other than the pump
    1. On the sending unit I have a purple and gray wire which one goes to the gauge and the power wire.
    2. What do you use for the vent on the sending unit and a part number.

    • @walkerperformance7626
