- This tool was abandoned in Japan because it was replaced by a battery tool.
It is RYOBI 100v 50Hz/60Hz power tool, the gearbox are perfect and made from good quality of steel. The power tool case is also remaining good. So just add new battery pack inside to run the motor, it will become modern tool. In this video you see inside this tool, the mechanics structure, 18V battery build and armature rewinding from 100V to 18V.

Thank you so much for actually explaining the process. I have seen hundreds of videos of rewinding electric motors, but none of them did a step-by-step explanation. If I had known this sooner I would have rewound the armature on my great-grandmother's handheld mixer from around 1940.
This is amazing! We need more people like this guy! He upgraded a hedge trimmer and prevented one more piece of electronics from going to E-Waste
So much neater installation then the other hedgetrimmer you did that had the giant grey powerbrick sticking out of the back. And i love the minimalist design of this tool.

You have saved one original winding as example and used it as template to wind new coil. Originally this motor was designed for AC, you rebuild motor for AC with lower voltage. It will work on DC, but energy conservation efficiency is 50% smaller and battery discharging faster. AC flows in both directions, but DC flowing only in one direction, so one side of each bar doesn't create any useful magnetic flux.

IDEA: make a base to hold cutter. Add wheels and a extension rod with handle. Now you don't need to bend down use cutter!! I have sunco weed cutter with handle and detachable base. I use it all the time instead of the 2cycle weed eat. Why? It has more control and it will not accidentally damage trees or siding of house. Again great job!!!

And also the motor cannot run for more times the commutator also may damage
