UPDATE 19/99 lash tint in taupe: I've started using it in my brows and it's amazing. It works perfectly in the brows and doesn't feel at ALL like it's too dry. I find myself hesitating to use it on my lashes because it's so unsatisfying and takes so long to build up even a very light layer. I've become totally convinced that it was developed for use in the brows but that it happens to be eye safe and they were like "I wonder what would happen if we marketed it as also being a lash tint??" redhead revolution gingerlash: since I loved everything about this except for its slightly heavy application, I started wiping off the excess mascara on the tube and then with a tissue before applying. This gives me the light and "raspy" application that I desire, ability to build fluffy lashes, and the color is perfect. Even with this method it's still wetter and more satisfying to apply to my lashes than the 19/99 tint straight from the tube. I LOVE this mascara when used this way and I have used it every single day with a variety of makeup looks. the other three: haven't touched 'em
I can't speak for the taupe, but I have the 19/99 lash tint in black (idk whether I just missed that it was also marketed as a brow tint or whether the black one is in fact only marketed as a mascara) and mine has none of the dry dissatisfying qualities you described your taupe one having. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it's as wet as any mascara I've ever tried, but that the look is subtle and wispy, which I really love. I've had mine for several months at this point and it's as wet now as it was when freshly opened. Edited to add: I purchased mine from Cult Beauty online in the UK.

Just an fyi: Just for Redheads has a variety of light colored mascaras. Ginger, light brown, taupe, etc. Their ginger matches my copper hair. It’s not an amazing brush or formula, but the color selections are better than any brand I’ve ever found.
I used JFR mascara for years, going back over 20 yrs. My issue was then that the hues were all too warm, but looks like ginger cocoa might now have a plummy/violet note, which would be a plus.
@@agresticumbraThe one I use, ginger, is warm but my hair is very warm. I have blonde lashes so they are invisible against my pale skin and finding their ginger shade was life changing! @@ThePedersenHomestead I wear the Just for Redheads Ginger Cocoa colour too. I have strawberry blonde hair and very transparent blonde eyelashes. It’s the best one I’ve found too. ❤
Firstly thank you for acknowledging this weird brown mascara issue that no one talks about - they all look black! But also, that last option looks incredibly natural and stunning on you, what a winner!
Hi Hannah, I’m one of the commenters who recommended 19/99’s mascara and it’s so fun to see you try it! I do wonder if you got an old one, I always get mine straight from the company and, while they’re not a wet formula by any means, my experience with them has never been that they’re super dry. I’ve been using the same tube for about 5 months and am only just starting to feel like it’s getting a bit dry, but I think I’ll get another month of use out of it. However I only wear mascara a few times a week, not every day, so it might run out faster for someone else. I’d be interested to see if a fresh tube makes a difference for you, the color looks very pretty and natural on you!
that redhead revolution mascara looks AMAZING on you. I love these sort of investigative videos, bc while I don't wear makeup I'm like "oooh, a challenge! a mystery!" it's great
I think the best thing about this is how coloring matters. As someone with super dark hair and pale skin anything less then black mascara makes my lashes paler then they are . So all mascaras can look natural on me
I also have dark hair and pale skin, but black mascara looks way too off on me. Weirdly, I recently discovered that blue mascara looks the most natural on me, I don't even understand how can a literal BLUE look natural lol. My eyes are very vibrant brown, I don't know if that's the reason? maybe the black clashes with the very vibrant brown of my eyes and the blue fits right in. No one even notices that I'm using blue mascara, it just looks like my eyelashes "but better". It was a really cool random discovery.
I cannot imagine the circumstances where you end up with wet tubes of mascara seaweed on your face 😂 For me tubing mascara does not remove or even budge unless the water is very hot and not a simple splash of water but a lot of hot water is repeatedly washed over the eye. I wear mine and have for twenty years and even wear it during triathlon involving the swim and a lot of sweat, my martial arts training, boxing and very long work days. Never have a single speck break off and I’m just using Clinique. So your experience is so surprising! Love the 19/99 for brows and lashes too. Colour is brilliant.
STOP ive literally been searching for an actually brown mascara too this past week 😭 im so happy ty And I also do not like tubing mascaras 😮💨 this is perfect
Loreal Voluminous Brown Balm mascara is my go to and I have tried so so many brown mascaras I couldn't list them all. I have super sensitive eyes and it's the only thing that doesn't bother them. The balm variety is soft and lush. Plus I get compliments all the time on my lashes.
Hannah! I just saw your comment on brown mascaras. I have just discovered the new Clean Covergirl Mascara in Berry Brown. It has a curved brush for lift and curl (natural bristles), and it is beautiful. I have green eyes and dark golden blonde hair and fair skin so … just a suggestion. Good luck!
ysl lash clash in brown was a great colour for me but i hated the formula and definitely hated the price. i've been wearing the rom&nd mascara in long hazel and it's amazing IMO.
I also use the Romand mascara! I went with Long Ash though personally as I have a ton of brown mascaras and they all tend to lean warm to almost red brown. Was really nice to find a true cool toned brown mascara for once.
Yes yes yes! Thank you for this video! I have blonde hair, brows, and lashes and blue eyes. I feel like I’ve been looking for a true brown mascara forever! All of these “browns” and brown- blacks just look too dark and makeuppy every time. Thank you so much for this video! I am definitely going to try the redhead revolution! Once again, Hannah gives me hope! ❤
try etude house or clio, though most kbeauty brands have a variety of colors that arent black (different shades of brown and grey, usually). So i suggest you take a look at the different kbeauty mascara formulas and pick one that suits your preferences, because its highly likely they will have it in a shade of brown!
I love the Clio Kill Lash Superproof mascara - choco brown is my perfect brown, and rose brown is very red (would be a good match for auburns and deep redheads). I also have a taupe from Romand (Han All Fix) which is great.
@@joyunaI had no idea Clio Superproof came in brown! As a new lover of this mascara in black, I've absolutely GOT to try the brown. I'm a natural redhead but I really like the drama black gives me. However, I'm dying to find a beautiful brown in a formula I love (& it must be waterproof as my allergies literally devour all non-waterproof formulas). Thanks for the information.
I got the 19/99 mascara in brown and black directly from the brand and it was slightly wet when I first got it, but it does dry out very quickly. I enjoy the tiny wand and the light and fluffy application, but when the tube is older the mascara crumbles throughout the day and leaves specks on my face (and in my eyes, which caused me to stop using it). I remember it originally only came in black, then brown, and then taupe was added later, so I think it was actually designed as a minimal mascara that you could also use on your brows. I didn’t try the taupe because I was afraid it would be too yellow for me based on brand photos, so it’s good to hear that it’s actually a cool tone. Thanks for including the hand swatch! I believe the ingredient safety standards for mascaras are more stringent than those for brow products, so I wouldn’t recommend putting brow gel on your lashes.
wow, the first mascara is so natural on you! plus the small wand and bristles look like a dream cause it's much easier to work with. tbh, since trying a brow mascara once I was hoping for a regular mascara with such a delicate wand and I'm glad it exists.
I just finished reading Julia Hungry. Amazingly brilliant! This book gently rocked my world all week as I carried it from my dining table to the acupuncturist’s office and all around our home. I just adored the poems and plan to reread it later this fall already. ❤. I am so inspired by this elegant, brave collection. Thank you.
I was going to comment the same thing!! It’s been first tubing mascara and it wears so much better than traditional mascara on me. It’s also much easier to remove when I’m wearing my contacts. I love it so deeply.
Seconding the L’Oréal Brown Balm. Also putting in another plug for the Glossier Lash Slick in brown. That one can both go on quite natural and can build up while still having a natural color.
@@janecherrytree I’m glad you chimed in. It’s been a while since I used it! I was also reflecting on the Glossier as I was using it yesterday, and it’s also probably too dark. The formula is so natural that it seems like a good choice, but color maybe still too dark.
I have been searching my whole LIFE! Max Factor used to have a really lovely auburn shade you could get at drugstores. I'm the freckled, strawberry blonde old duck with see thru skin to your much younger titian tressed, opaque skinned self. I need that brown mascara! Anything even remotely in the direction of black looks like ink splashed in my eyes. I definitely know because of my theatre background which has forced me to wear black mascara from a young age, just to make expressions visible to the audience. My lashes are pale blonde, always have been. I have olive green, terracotta, & teal mascaras which are very fun. I have one chocolate brown mascara somewhere but the formula is nothing fabulous. I have tended to buy Mineral Fusion, I think that is the brand Whole Foods carries. They are okay-ish. Currently my best mascara is a tubing one, supposedly, by Handaivan. The applicator is effectively a metal stick with grooves. I must say it helps. It's pretty chocolatey. If I combine that with an eyelash primer, maybe you told me about this one (Lancome Cils Booster XL) and heat-curling my lashes a skosh (with age they have become positively stiff and pointed at the floor!)... I have moments of relative happiness with the result. Certainly this tubing mascara makes me aware that I actually do have long lashes. It does feel more precarious though, using what amounts to an ice pick that close to my eyes! I was intrigued by the subtle but effective curling mascara you used in a recent video. Was that the one where you went harder than you really wanted to go on eyemakeup and then recognized you were out of alignment? (Can I say how impressed I am that you are keeping up a pretty solid schedule of filming and your brain does not seem to have suffered from the little man who now lives outside of you? As a mother of 4/grandmother of 4 I, I say BRAVA! That deserves a medal. And another for honoring your own boundaries. Just over over here, cheering you on & wishing that those of us who are most in need of mascara could actually have a good product!!!!) Obviously this tubing one is doing the job but wouldn't it be amazing to be able to have some options? I have ordered auburn mascara from redhead revolution before. It was fine. I just thought it would be nice to have a GREAT mascara for the almost albinos like me who frankly need a little help up in here! Save us, HLP! Lol
The Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara in Auburn is the mascara by which I still judge all mascaras. I miss it so much! Nothing else has ever compared when it comes to the color.
I was, quite literally just hours ago, thinking about how hopeful I was that you’d do a video on brown mascara. I’m also a new mom (and in a similar makeup situation as you, and with very similar coloring) and I’m desperate for something that matches my new aesthetic. Commenting before I even watch because I am thrilled to have a video like this to watch!
as someone with short, fine lashes and dark skin your "makeup-y makeup" lashes are my dream natural lash; but I love how immediately I could understand your vision for "defined natural" once you tried the gingerlash! your eye for nuance is such a treasure
i just absolutely adore how in-depth you get with your descriptions of things. it's why you've become a go-to person for makeup reviews. my coloring couldn't be more different from yours (although our eye color is the same!) but because your details are so elaborate, it makes it so easy for me to figure out if something that looks great on you would look good on me or not. super appreciative! thank you
Romand Han All Fix mascara has two light shades (hazel and long ash) which are brown and cool ashy brown, respectively. I'm very pale with cool olive undertones and wear long ash on no make-up days, it's pretty nice.
@@louibeans Understandable. This seems to be very common in Korean mascaras. There's another Korean product called Kiss Me Heroine Mascara Remover that is designed to very quickly brush into the mascaras to remove waterproof mascara gently, and prior to discovering it I also never used waterproof mascaras.
ISEHAN Kiss Me Heroine has a bricky yellow undertoned brown mascara (there are a few versions, avoid the one with the ombré lid because it’s tubing) that I absolutely love. I’ve tried the Sky High True Brown and compared to the sky high, KMH is definitely lighter and similar in tint to the ginger mascara you liked. Formula is incredible AND it’s at a drugstore price. Also they have a skinny wand version that gives a similar hint-y natural application to the first mascara you shared
Perhaps others have mentioned it previously, but I think the Korean and Japanese brands have some very good brown mascara options that may be up your alley. For instance, both Romand and LilyByRed have brown mascaras in warm and cool brown shades. On the Japanese side, CanMake also have a brown mascara (and many other interesting colours, such as Wine Mauve). The Romand and lilybyred are around the 10 dollar mark, I think. The CanMake options are slighly more expensive but still under 20$.
I have reddish hair and the ends of my lashes are blond. My brows are a light, light brown. I appreciate your videos so much because of how thoughtful and thorough you are. It’s even better that we have similar coloring and I can actually use some of your recommendations.
Excited to watch this!! I’ve been using the KISSME brown waterproof mascara and let me just say- it is THE MOST WATERPROOF mascara ever lol. If anyone has watery eyes and oily lids like me, it is a godsend! A godsend that needs makeup remover to take off- it’ll stay on through a shower otherwise 😂
It’s too waterproof for me! My makeup removing balm won’t even begin to touch it and I can’t be bothered to have more products at this point. But in general this brand is pretty amazing!
I started using brown mascara after my color analysis suggested black was too harsh. Now when I use black I feel SO overdone. It’s crazy how hard it is to find a true warm chocolately brown mascara that actually performs well, so I’m SO grateful that you made this video!
Clinique Black Honey it's actually a beautiful warm brown. (Comment for your previous video: If you don't already know it and if you have time please have a look at Celine Spring Summer 2011 runaway collection and make up and hair. I'm obsessed since then and I think it is So Now Again.
Finally someone who also hates tubing mascara. And I’m also searching for the perfect brown that should not be almost black, just that I like it to be more warm as I have clearly golden undertones (just with a lot of red/pink overtone due to acne). My perfect shade and separating formula (I don’t want volume) is the Hermes brown. Of course this is way overpriced but just couldn’t find anything other yet. At least it is beautiful in every way (including packaging) for the price 😅
just picked the covergirl one up it’s very burgundy/red and dark so the contrast is too makeup-y for what i’m looking for right now (same as hannah) i’m returning that today and picking up the redhead revo one
Romand All Han Fix Mascara has a Hazel (Brown) but also Ash - which is taupe/grey. It’s unique! I am blonde and use this one. Brown mascaras tend to look black or orange on me.
I’ve really been enjoying your quests for specific makeup products. Once your questing is complete, would you ever do a video combining all of your favorite no/low-makeup makeup?
To be honest, I would just add some foundation to whatever mascara has the best formula. I respect your searches for the holy grail but I prefer to turn my curiosity into creativity and creation because I find it more satisfying. I love your ideas and usually try them out in a way that works for me. By the way, you knocked it out of the park with the "my lips but better" look you have cultivated and are wearing today. Just 10/10. Stunning. Couldn't be better.
Yeah I added foundation to my black brown lash paradise and it ended up being straight opaque gray, no warm tones at all. I used it and it looked good when I combed it with a clean spoolie. I think the only issue is that in sunlight the texture and tone would be obvious, natural but still defined. I think I would have better results from a transparent product, like a clear mascara with a small amount of taupe or gray pigment. More like a sheer tint.
I like the L’Oréal Voluminous mascara in Soft Black. I also love their Burgundy and Brown Balm. I am not really looking for subtlety. I like easy removal, no flakiness and speed.
I truly enjoyed this. You only had two that I hadn't tried. Funny enough those were your top picks. I had seen the redhead revolution but hadn't spent the money on it yet. Now I know thanks to you sweet friend. You are always entertaining and forever giving me ideas of products that might actually work for me because they worked for you 😊
The Redhead Revolution looks great on you! I have a mixture of ashy brown & salt/pepper hair, and I have found a wonderful mascara from Romand (Korean). It comes in four colors. They have a "hazel" color that may work well for you. Also, Clio Kill Lash comes in an ashy colorway. Not sure if that one would work for you, but might be worth investigating. Neither of these are very spendy.
I know it’s not in your typical wheelhouse, but Japanese drugstore mascaras come in a lot of interesting light brown shades! If you decide to do another one of these, try checking some out! Uzu, Cezanne, CanMake, and Ettusais are some brands to look into!
Following this and appreciating all the suggestions, even tho I’m not a redhead. In fact, I have silvery hair and feel that black mascara is wayyyy too obvious for my desired natural look. So I’m going to check out these brown (and maybe taupe-ish) options! Thank you for sharing your journey, Hannah Louise!
I am loving these videos of trying to find the right piece of makeup. You are excellent at voicing what exactly you are looking for and how a product does or does not measure up. It is such a useful format for first impressions.
Hannah this is slightly off topic but would you ever consider doing a video about *how* to apply different mascaras? I feel like everyone just assumes that this is common knowledge and I have never seen anyone truly explain it. I have no idea what I am doing when applying mascara and it always looks a bit off. I love the way your lashes look every time and I am really intrigued! Great video !
I was so excited when I saw the title of this video as I have the same problem with brown mascaras! I had never heard of the redhead revolution mascara before but I really like the look of it (I'm a strawberry blond so I think the warmer color would be flattering for me). since you're looking for more of a cool-toned color, there are some taupey mascaras from korean and japanese brands that I think might be the color you're looking for: -Isehan kiss lasting curl mascara in milk tea greige or teddy greige (milk tea greige looks quite light and teddy greige looks more like a truly grayish taupe) -Koji dolly wink mascara in bitter greige -Cezanne nuance color mascara in latte beige or hazel greige -Cezanne lasting curl mascara in greige -Canmake off-surun mascara in cat ash -D-up perfect extension mascara in marron greige -Ettusais eye edition mascara in sandy greige -Kirei factory mirror lash mascara in london tan or classic greige -Cocoroiki eye design mascara in warm greige (this one has a small brush a bit like the 1999 one) I hope this is helpful!
Elf lash n roll!!! Favourite ever for $8 CAD. Its not the lightest brown but with the tacky formula and way it applies it looks soooo natural on me - and I almost always feel weird in black or black brown mascaras.
when I was editing this I was like "what's with my lips??" and then I remembered that my upper lip was still SUPER chapped from a waxing mishap. Maybe that's the secret to beauty 😂
The “just for redheads” natural mascara in ginger cocoa reminds me of the first one, except the color isn’t quite so ashy. Just a hint warmer. And the effect is similar but the formula sounds different. It’s super super wet and thin. I like the formula a lot but despise the wand. It’s huge and makes a mess. I feel like if it had a smaller wand with a tighter spoolie it would be my perfect mascara. Just for redheads used to have their studio mascara and that one I loved but it’s not quite so crazy natural (still pretty natural but the formula is slightly different) and I think it’s gone now anyway.
19/99's taupe became a brow staple for me and I ended up liking their brown mascara better for my lashes, still very natural and wispy but it took less work to use
I'm glad you found a mascara that works for you. On me, the dark brown mascaras work well and look appreciably browner than black brown mascaras. I just swatched the L'Oreal in Latte Brown against a L'Oreal black brown, and believe it or not, the Latte Brown is much browner. The black brown looks more like a slightly greenish charcoal gray on the back of my hand.
The milk kush brow gels are pretty similar to their kush mascara and come in some lighter colors, but they still have fibers so they build up and add volume.
I finally tried a tubing mascara ( I got a Caliray sample) after hearing everyone raving about that formula. I really didn’t like it, especially the removing process. I thought I didn’t “get it” but you confirmed that I’m not alone! I love my micellar water and coton pad, it’s been working for me for years, why fixing a problem that I don’t have?
I feel like that last one would be perfect for me, because I have copper hair at the moment & find warm tones work best for me (especially for my eyes)
I've never had such issues with a tubing mascara. For a while I had some issues with other mascaras flaking though so I can understand why you hate it. I would kind of prefer for my mascara to smear. Makes sense, since I chose to wear mascara that is not waterproof. I rarely have issues with my mascara smearing. And I'm a sweaty cry baby. My eyeliner smears more than my mascara.
The glossier lash slick in brown is truly the only mascara I can wear with a bare face. It is actually brown but more importantly it’s soooooo light that’s it just makes my lashes look like they are naturally longer and slightly fuller. It’s the best.
I'm so surprised you didn't test the Essence Lash Without Limits brown mascara?! That's the best one in my humble opinion. The color is a TRUE brown (slightly on the warmer side but doesn't look "warm" per say on the lashes) The formula is best described as silky, so it's easy to manipulate during application as it doesn't clump. It's super easy to work with and when it sets it stays all day without flaking or smudging (I don't know what kind of black magic Essence did with the formula, it's absolutely amazing).
If you are interested in trying any K-beauty mascaras, I highly suggest getting the Heroine Make mascara remover in the blue tube. So many of these mascaras are very long wearing, especially if they are using the word "fix" to market them, but the mascara remover really helps. Both Etude and romand have colored mascaras for $10 or less.

All of these “browns” and brown- blacks just look too dark and makeuppy every time. Thank you so much for this video! I am definitely going to try the redhead revolution! Once again, Hannah gives me hope! ❤
It doesn't get very good reviews, but the brown version of the Glossier mascara has been perfect for me.
agree, a very cool toned true brown
Yes, just posted about this! The black Glossier is fine for my dark lashes, but was surmising that the brown was actually paler brown then most
agree but don't think she'll like it since it's a tubing mascara
Same! It's so light and "barely there," which is just what I want from it.
Same! I adore this mascara!!!!!❤
try etude house or clio, though most kbeauty brands have a variety of colors that arent black (different shades of brown and grey, usually).
I also have a taupe from Romand (Han All Fix) which is great.
jbeauty too, kiss me heroine make does a really nice true brown
@@joyunaI had no idea Clio Superproof came in brown! As a new lover of this mascara in black, I've absolutely GOT to try the brown. I'm a natural redhead but I really like the drama black gives me. However, I'm dying to find a beautiful brown in a formula I love (& it must be waterproof as my allergies literally devour all non-waterproof formulas). Thanks for the information.
came here to say this! I found etude house brown mascara while living in Korea and love it, have continued ordering it while back here in the U.S.
CoverGirl clean mascara in berry brown is so pretty and the Essence brown mascaras are actually brown and really good quality 😊
I was looking for this one and couldn’t find it until I realized that wasn’t the name. It’s the eye enhancer 3D mascara
@@Booksanddogs7 Sorry I should have looked at the bottle lol I'm glad you found it though
Thank you.
The beauble Rudy Berry chocolate dipped mascara is the best AND it’s tubing!
As a redhead with SUPER sensitive eyes, I was ready to give up on wearing mascara altogether until I found this one. It is everything!
I know the Brown Balm will absolutely be too dark. I have it too and it looks black on me 🥲
@@janecherrytree I’m glad you chimed in. It’s been a while since I used it!
I was also reflecting on the Glossier as I was using it yesterday, and it’s also probably too dark. The formula is so natural that it seems like a good choice, but color maybe still too dark.
@@nenjaboots You‘re Right, the formula is super nice 😊
I think rom&nd and Moira may have cool toned mascaras as well
as someone with short, fine lashes and dark skin your "makeup-y makeup" lashes are my dream natural lash; but I love how immediately I could understand your vision for "defined natural" once you tried the gingerlash!
your eye for nuance is such a treasure
Elf Lash N Roll in Deep Brown is slept on!
This is my current favorite; it’s a little dark but the best so far. The balm one smears on me.
It's my fav drugstore mascara, however it's a little dark almost bordering on black on me. So I'm still hunting for a light brown!
I agree!!
i just absolutely adore how in-depth you get with your descriptions of things. it's why you've become a go-to person for makeup reviews. my coloring couldn't be more different from yours (although our eye color is the same!) but because your details are so elaborate, it makes it so easy for me to figure out if something that looks great on you would look good on me or not. super appreciative! thank you
Romand Han All Fix mascara has two light shades (hazel and long ash) which are brown and cool ashy brown, respectively. I'm very pale with cool olive undertones and wear long ash on no make-up days, it's pretty nice.
I was JUST eyeing both on my hunt for grey mascara since I've given up on brown. Thank you for your thoughts!
Same, I have long ash on my Amazon wish list but haven’t purchased yet
The one thing keeping me from trying it is that it's waterproof. That's a no-no for me. The colors look amazing!
Benefit BadGal Bang! in brown and Glossier in brown have been getting it done for me. Thanks for the reccs!
Benefit tinted lash primer is the best I’ve found
Try the elf curling mascara in brown! (The one with the pink cap) It's my go-to!
I fully agree with you on tubing mascaras. Non merci.
I started using brown mascara after my color analysis suggested black was too harsh. Now when I use black I feel SO overdone. It’s crazy how hard it is to find a true warm chocolately brown mascara that actually performs well, so I’m SO grateful that you made this video!
You should try the Physicians formula butter brown mascara . It is a true chocolate brown . 😊
I have black eyebrows and eyelashes but I am here for this journey!
jellie!! :D
Clinique Black Honey it's actually a beautiful warm brown. (Comment for your previous video: If you don't already know it and if you have time please have a look at Celine Spring Summer 2011 runaway collection and make up and hair. I'm obsessed since then and I think it is So Now Again.
wow. I especially love the hair
The Black honey is great! I bought an extra.
Benefit has a brown lash primer. I use it as my mascara and it's perfect.
I also hate tubing mascara! 🙋🏽♀️😂😂
Gen See and Monika Blunder both has beautiful brown mascaras.
The new covergirl berry brown mascara is so good (pink tube) and Rudi Berry’s Beauble one but that’s tubing and darker
just picked the covergirl one up it’s very burgundy/red and dark so the contrast is too makeup-y for what i’m looking for right now (same as hannah) i’m returning that today and picking up the redhead revo one
Wow, I’ve been using Dr Hauschka Defining Mascara in brown for years, never asking any questions. This video is really educational.
I love the Maybelline Classic Volume Express Mascara in brown.
Romand Han All Fix Mascara has an ash grey colour!!
I like the L’Oréal Voluminous mascara in Soft Black. I also love their Burgundy and Brown Balm. I am not really looking for subtlety. I like easy removal, no flakiness and speed.
The Redhead Revolution mascara is beautiful on you!
I truly enjoyed this. You only had two that I hadn't tried. Funny enough those were your top picks. I had seen the redhead revolution but hadn't spent the money on it yet. Now I know thanks to you sweet friend. You are always entertaining and forever giving me ideas of products that might actually work for me because they worked for you 😊
Hannah, if you want a light application of mascara and you’ve found the right color, try a mascara fan brush
@@AzDesertFoxx mine is from Bdellium tools, I have been using it for the lower lash line mainly
I use Covergirl LastBlast Volume Mascara in Brown and it's definitely a true brown on me. might be worth a shot at drugstore pricing!
Same
I know it’s not in your typical wheelhouse, but Japanese drugstore mascaras come in a lot of interesting light brown shades! If you decide to do another one of these, try checking some out! Uzu, Cezanne, CanMake, and Ettusais are some brands to look into!
I would love to see this, but with burgundy and purple mascaras.💜💟
elf Lash XTNDR in brown is really nice. It’s also tubing. Ooh. I just saw that Benefit has a mink brown lash primer that can be worn on its own.
Clicked on this video so fast! I have wasted so much money trying 'brown' mascaras. This has been so helpful.❤
I totally agree with you on tubing mascara. I've had the same experience with it flaking all over my face.
I am loving these videos of trying to find the right piece of makeup. You are excellent at voicing what exactly you are looking for and how a product does or does not measure up. It is such a useful format for first impressions.
So detail oriented its alienating
You’d probably do well with a brow gel. Way more shades to choose from and it’s barely there. The spooly is usually nice too!
You have the same exact thought process as me, I feel very validated now
Hannah this is slightly off topic but would you ever consider doing a video about *how* to apply different mascaras? I feel like everyone just assumes that this is common knowledge and I have never seen anyone truly explain it. I have no idea what I am doing when applying mascara and it always looks a bit off. I love the way your lashes look every time and I am really intrigued! Great video !
I was so excited when I saw the title of this video as I have the same problem with brown mascaras! I had never heard of the redhead revolution mascara before but I really like the look of it (I'm a strawberry blond so I think the warmer color would be flattering for me).
since you're looking for more of a cool-toned color, there are some taupey mascaras from korean and japanese brands that I think might be the color you're looking for:
-Isehan kiss lasting curl mascara in milk tea greige or teddy greige (milk tea greige looks quite light and teddy greige looks more like a truly grayish taupe)
-Koji dolly wink mascara in bitter greige
-Cezanne nuance color mascara in latte beige or hazel greige
-Cezanne lasting curl mascara in greige
-Canmake off-surun mascara in cat ash
-D-up perfect extension mascara in marron greige
-Ettusais eye edition mascara in sandy greige
-Kirei factory mirror lash mascara in london tan or classic greige
-Cocoroiki eye design mascara in warm greige (this one has a small brush a bit like the 1999 one)
I hope this is helpful!
I use Pixie brown when I wear mascara. So intrigued by all the options that have arrived on the scene. Thanks for introducing them!
Elf lash n roll!!! Favourite ever for $8 CAD. Its not the lightest brown but with the tacky formula and way it applies it looks soooo natural on me - and I almost always feel weird in black or black brown mascaras.
I recommend Catrice Pure Volume Magic Brown 🙂
I looked at swatches; I like that it seems to have a greenish tint to it which makes it cool-toned. But it does look really dark as well
Hannah you look beautiful in this ❤❤ love the lip
when I was editing this I was like "what's with my lips??" and then I remembered that my upper lip was still SUPER chapped from a waxing mishap. Maybe that's the secret to beauty 😂
@@HannahLouisePoston plumping effects I suppose! Haha. Love the tone and glossiness though. Still pursuing my perfect sheer lip
@@HannahLouisePostonokay but we absolutely have to know what the product is, this is life or death
Maybellime sky high true brown is a gorgeous color
This is the video I've been needing. Thank you!!!!!
Just for redheads used to have their studio mascara and that one I loved but it’s not quite so crazy natural (still pretty natural but the formula is slightly different) and I think it’s gone now anyway.
maybelline great lash in clear is sooooo underrated!
I love how you have a methodical approach to your tests. Thanks for another excellent video!
I like the Burts Bees brown mascara.
The milk kush brow gels are pretty similar to their kush mascara and come in some lighter colors, but they still have fibers so they build up and add volume.
We llok so similar!!! Anything looking good on you will look good on me!! Plus we are the same coloring!!! Same eyes as well!!!
Try elf lash extendr!!!!! Thats the truedt brown for me in the drugstore
I was surprised this one didn't make the cut
I feel like that last one would be perfect for me, because I have copper hair at the moment & find warm tones work best for me (especially for my eyes)
I like the ELF brown tubing mascara.
E.L.F. Lash and Roll (maybe) (pink top) has a brown that is pretty light!
Thank you for testing the tubing! I loved how it looked on you and only use tubing 😅
Another one you may love are the “nuance” mascaras from Cezanne…tons of soft nuanced colors including taupe, mauve, etc
