I feel like we need a finale of this series- the correct shades from formulae you liked, both high end and drugstore. Maybe K Beauty products? Basically, we need more!!
Surprise no one has mentioned the elf hydrating core lip shines! They have minimal pigment, incredible shine, and a slight melon scent. On top of that there’s a good colour selection as well.
I have! The only thing is, I only own one, so I'm not sure what the other colors are like. There used to be a pale tan color but it hasn't restocked in a while. The shade I have is a pale pink/rose color & although I do adore the formula, I do find it to be more pigmented than most tinted balms. For instance, when I drink from a cup it leaves the classic lipstick mark. 🤭
@@saram3156 I hate most scents in lip products! Melon has to be one of the worst, or possibly bubblegum or birthday cake. But only because it's so artificial. I don't mind the scent in the elf hydrating core at all, but the rom&nd melting balms, blech! It disturbs me. I can't even quite place the scent but I dislike it.
I have one of those, and while it is very slick and shiny, it ends up feeling like Chap Stick after it's been on my lips for a little while. That "core" is pretty waxy and hard, and doesn't swipe off as easily as the pigmented part surrounding it, so the core sticks out from the rest of the lipstick (maybe I got a bad tube).
same 🤗 especially because i trust hannah to NOT put affordability before quality AND vice versa, so having a very limited budget doesn't feel like such a bad stigma when she gives 'our' products the credit they deserve 😊 i mean companies are not a monolith and the number of those that are actually trying to serve poor customers (i feel like we should reclaim that term btw. it's not shameful to have little) well is growing. they're often the ones with a strong focus on sustainability and worker's rights too, which is absolutely no coincidence.
I have nu beige, gorgeous color! I don't particularly love the scent though which really made me sad. It also gives me that weird thing after a few hrs of wear. Little pieces of product kind of bunches up? I'm not sure if it's a me problem or something that's common. I don't apply more than one swipe.
I just got Scotch Nude in the mail, and it feels so dark compared to photos online. (I just got typed as a Light Spring in the Korean Color Analysis system). I'm making it work by dabbing it on, but I'll probably try Buffy Coral next 😅
@@FC-eh7ll Cyanide has that smell (naturally present in bitter almonds and apples, peaches, apricots, lima beans, barley, sorghum, flaxseed and bamboo shoots.)
I think you are right that the disconnect is how many layers you prefer to apply. I love Rom&nd and Nivea but I prefer a quick swipe application. I do like layering a lip mask before bed and during my skincare routine. Those products are all potted though.
This is more thick though, I swatch these all the time at olive young but they're not sheer enough I don't think she's like them as she wanted a watercolor look lol, they're gorgeous but as a lipstick!
Second this! Mauve Promenade was too purple/cool for me, but I loved the formula, so I just ordered Rose Thought. It's a straight-up muted rose. This is my favorite of the gloss balm ranges... the colours are 👌 if you like muted shades and the formula is easy to build up on your lips without a mirror.
This is why I love your channel. You just make content that’s actually helpful and necessary! Instead of being sucked into a hyper trendy whirlpool of new launches every day. Not just doing reviews of everything that’s constantly new!
Happy mother’s day! I’m always impressed by how much product people on youtube generally use. I typically use one swipe of lip product, a pea sized amount of face lotion, a single spray of perfume. Maybe it’s the difference between oily and dry skin.
I think it might also be being in front of a camera, so they wear more of everything subconsciously. I don't wear a huge amount of makeup, but I wear more than most people I come in contact with and it is obvious I am wearing it, but when I see myself on camera it looks like I am not wearing anything
Wow I clicked soo fast - I use a thin layer of the nivea blackberry and the texture changes a little bit after a few uses, there's a waxy coat on the outer most layer of it at first, but I believe you shave it off on your hand -- about the color, there are lighter ones, but the other colors seem to have 'white' mixed with it in a way that doesn't look good when stars to wear off, because the white lines remain on the lips
This is so amusing to me because I've been tuning in to see if there's a product better than the Burts Bees Red Dahlia (which I instinctively started using years and years ago). Looks like I got lucky with my original choice!
Yes yes! Totally agree! I’ve been on this hunt too, using Burt’s bees Zinnia for a few years and kept wondering if I could find something better. Hannah your video helped me feel like what I have is enough and I can stop searching ❤
Does anyone know how the texture of the Tinted Lip Balm compares to the Beeswax Lip Balm? I tried that a few years ago and didn't like it because I felt like it just disappeared from my lips and didn't moisturize them at all. I'd been considering the Tinted Lip Balm before, but that turned me off of Burt's Bees! I see the ingredient lists are different though, so now I'm curious again!
@@kathleen1697 It's really different, the beeswax formula is a lot harder, where the tinted lip balms are very soft and shiny! I love the beeswax ones (especially with peppermint) so i prefer those, but the tinted ones are nice. If you don't like the beeswax ones, I think you'll like the tinted lip balms more so i'd recommend them!!
I burst out laughing when I saw you whipping out romand's scotch nude 30 seconds after I applied it on myself. I have darker lips and it is still a lovely pigmentation on me so I get how overwhelming it could translate on you.
Rom&nd Glasting melting balm in 01 Coco Nude, 10 Nu beige and 11 Buffy coral are MUCH more sheer than 13 Scotch nude! I have the exact same boxes to tick for an everyday tinted balm and I love these. I had the same problem with the shade kaya fig, it's too pigmented.
I have Coco Nude too and same here. it's almost clear on me with a very slight warm nude tint, and I'm almost as pale as Hannah. I was so surprised how intense scotch nude is! I also have Mauve Whip, though, which is indeed more pigmented than Coco Nude. I want a cool-toned version of Coco Nude that's just as subtle. The formula is so good!
They're all still super intense though, I live in Korea and I want to like these so much so I always swatch them in olive young in hopes that maybe I'll change my mind... but they're definitely more like lip sticks and not watercolor tinted balms :/
My little sister's "lip balm of her dreams" is the nature republic honey melting lip balm. I had to google that before I called it the "honey republic" lip balm. She also was looking for low-pigment high-shine balms, so you might want to try it if you do an East Asian or YesStyle balm video.
I can also vouch that this is a gorgeous product; but I predict it'would be far too glossy and pigmented though, I actually just swatched them all yesterday because I live in Korea when I asked the attendant for a gloss they pointed me to those, it's like a solid pigment gloss in stick form. They don't have that "watercolor" look she's going for which is what I also like so I ended up opting for the innisfree balms, so I've reccomended her the innisfree balms in a different comment but nature republic also has Essential Lip Balms (that I also swatched yesterday lol) that I think would be more up her alley as they're less intense!
This is where I can say that whoever said Burts Bees on the last lip balm video, thanks a bunch! I got the rose colored one and it immediately became my favorite. The tint is just so beautiful and lasts a long time too. 😄
I have used this balm for years and have come to settle on 'hibiscus' as my favourite colour. I am light/ medium - pale olive- and I love the more sunny golden tone it brings to my face. I do love the 'natural' red/ angelic red tones for lip colour generally though. (I'm also glad to see that Hannah likes a product that I am also a fan of!)
Note on the sun bum - the normal smaller plastic tubes have a very sheer pigment. But the taste! THE TASTE IS INSANE it gives me headaches. It's so good if it didn't taste like it, but might be to mask the sunscreen. Edit: please don't dessiminate the chemical sunscreen fearmongering. Please the science is not there
a lot of the best aussie sunscreens (a country renowned for its development of sunscreens) use organic/chemical filters and it makes me so sad that it's so much harder to get them here in the US! I'm not caucasian and the inorganic/physical sunscreens leave an awful white cast on me...
@lifeontheledgerlines8394 chemical filters are legit the best because they allow you to use an actual decent layer of it (a lot of us use less than the amount recommended) without looking like a goddamn sheet of paper! Hell, i'm pale, and they make me look whiter. Plus, they allow for better formulations in longevity, strength, and overall performance (the greasy for example). I hate to see a good youtuber fall down the anti-science rabbit hole
Yes! I totally clenched up at the disdain for chemical sunscreens, really disappointing to hear. Not to mention how a lot of inorganic/mineral sunscreens are actually including unregulated organic/chemical filters (eg: butyloctyl salicylate) that are functionally the same as other approved sunscreen actives but because it's not an approved filter they don't have to list it with the active ingredients. Then the sunscreen gets to claim to be "totally definitely 10000% mineral sunscreen, definitely don't use the scary chemical sunscreens" - Dr Michelle Wong from Lab Muffin Beauty Science has a great video about it. Drives me crazy that products can end up less safe in the name of selling "clean beauty" etc.
@katyp564 maybe so! Maybe it's one filter that just has that smell 🤔 i like it, but it's like you said, over time on the lips... Terrible. But a good lip balm for those that can stand it. Neutrogena had ond with spf that didn't smell or taste as funky if i'm not mistaken, tho.
I just got the Rabanne lip balm and I LOVE it! Legit just a bullet lip balm with a hint of color - no ph stuff, no plumping, no click-up packaging... it's awesome.
My skin is maybe a shade darker than Hannah's and I got shade Soul Kiss - it looks brown in the tube but it's really a very sheer VERY cool-toned mauve.
You might consider the naturium phyto lip balms. They come in several tints and a clear version. They are a squeeze tube version however, but to me they feel very much like a balm. They are quite thick in consistency. There are several shades and even when I layer the darkest shade I find it to be a sheer look. I am not as pale as you but am pretty pale compared to others and I have dark hair so I am very sensitive to products that create high contrast on my face because I like my hair to be the focal contrast point. I have only tried the rosy hues, but they make a brown hued set as well.
@jessielindsey11 yes I came to that conclusion for myself last year when I went through all my lip products and realized I hated most of them because there was too much pigment and I would have to do a full face to wear it and I needed something to work with my everyday makeup of concealer , mascara and a soft cream blush. Couldn't find anything in bullet format so I started with Lanage glossy balm because I knew I loved it and went from there, most of the one's I've found in squeeze tubes are moisturizing and have that hint of color plus they normally smell of fruit.
Came here to say this! I think they definitely check the texture, shine, pigment level, and scent boxes for sure. Bullet format to squeeze tube feels like a much smaller compromise than the other criteria.
I love the shade Rose from that Burt’s Bees lip balm. They disconnected the shade Honeysuckle and I’ve missed it for years. It was a soft neutral brown that was so perfect
I see that we aren’t tinted lip balm besties so I think you may like: Peripera Mood Glowy Balm or the Innisfree Dewy Tint Balm. The color really doesn’t matter for me as they are SO sheer even when I layer to death. Peripera has a fruity scent while Innisfree is slightly menthol. I look forward to your continued quest!
Watching this video I realized that what you consider thin or watery is actually one of my requirements because for me it feels more soothing to my lips. I love this discovery because you're one of my favorite TH-camrs but I know our styles and preferences are often different and it's a perfect way to get recommendations even if they are not to your taste as much! :) Love this and pretty much all your videos by the way. I love how insightful you often are and the eloquence that you have as well! Happy mother's Day!
girlactik jello gloss balm is the best... natural and bright colors, moisturizing and thick. They smell slightly of grape. I think you would really enjoy them :) Keeps my lips moist without being overly pigmented and doesn't slide into my lip lines.
For the revlon shine lipstick, I think you would really like the shade sparkling honey! It's a cool brown and less pigmented than the one you tried. Still very much a lipstick, but beautiful!!! - Also, i just looked at the swatch they have for it on Amazon, and it's a lie!!! Lol. It does NOT look like a deep brown like that in real life. It's crazy that they even have that as the swatch!
Good to know! I’m still identifying what ingredient(s) have this effect on me. I found one unscented lip balm that works for me like five years ago and that’s about it. Almost without fail, if I try anything else, especially lip gloss or lip stick I break out but a lot of plain lip balms too. I’d like to find something I can use with some shine or color, so I thought maybe this video could help. (Also just love all of HLP’s content!)
That happens to me when I try herbal teas. Found out it’s related to my blood type. So now, I do my best to follow “eating right for your blood type” in all my skincare and it’s made a huge difference! Hope this helps ❤
Congrats on the new cover!! I remember when you got the original one, you gave a shout-out to the illustrator and that made me like you more. I see that you're highlighting the multifaceted nature of the channel and it makes me happy to see the 'writing' stripe.
Idk if anyone mentioned the Burts Bees pomegranate balm, but it's a nice one. It looks so much more intense in the tube than it is on the lips. I'm very pale like you, so I understand the struggle with pigment. Happy Mother's Day!
I can't believe through all of this, you never tried (or revisited) the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms. The plum one is definitely more brown leaning and is one of my favourite tried and true balms of all time. Plus the lemon scent is everything. ❤️
I think you’d love the Olio e Osso lip balms! They’re my absolute favorite and I think they would check off a lot of your boxes. They’re truly sheer (even the ones they describe as bold shades aren’t nearly as pigmented as they appear on their website imo), feel great on the lips and don’t wear off quickly, and have a subtle natural grapefruit scent. I’m as fair skinned as you and I can apply as many layers of these as I please (without a mirror!) and they stay sheer and non-lipsticky. Would love to see you try them!
@@Justaregularoldplumbus They're not as shiny as a lipgloss or the Hourglass balm but they do have a nice shine to them! I find the packaging to be sort of pleasingly minimalist in person, but I agree they are a bit expensive and are definitely a splurge item for me. But they are twice the size of an average lip balm so that's how I justify it lol
This comment I can back up, these are great, smell citrus, feel amazing and nourishing and have very little tint, I use yhem ad a blush too, I have 5 or 6 shades and they're so good
oh nooooooo! I have that NYX fat oil in the shade "NO FILTER NEEDED" and it's incredibly sheer and lovely! I'm SHOCKED by the pigment level of the one you tried, it literally looks like a different product. I'm so sad you ended up with the wrong shade. If it ever crosses your path again, no filter needed is the shade you want, the shade I love. I bought it the day after your first video in this series, and now i regret not recommending this shade to you ( and your community of awesome folks!)
I honestly love burt's bees pomegranate scented lip balm!! It's not even a marketed as a tinted lip balm, but once you slather on as much as I do it has just a touch of pink. I love it. You should consider it! Has a little less pigment than the their tinted ones
Have to say that I have been loving a sort of “French waif” look lately with no eye makeup and a strong lip. So some of these that were “too lipstick” for you in this particular hunt were also amazing dramatic looks, in my opinion!
Those comments towards the end to people who are sleeping, oh my heart! So cute. I think what I learned from this video is mostly to have a list of criteria when assessing my makeup (though honestly it could work on clothes too) and to think carefully.
As someone who is somewhere on the darkest of the pale olives or lightest of the medium olives, I think the blackberry one sounds perfect for me and I am so excited to try it
This is one of the sheerest tinted lip balms I’ve tried! Like burts bees red dahlia. Burt’s is a better texture but Honest is a better color and packaging, and no scent
I love the Ilia tinted lip balms… they have the perfect amount of pigment and the traditional, slightly waxy texture of chapstick. They have a brown and a mauve that I think you would like. On no makeup days I just slap some on, if I want it to look more like makeup I add a lip liner.
The day after watching this, I was face to face with the Burt’s bees tinted lip balms, and although I’m a med-dark skin tone, I picked up red dahlia based on how it swatched on you. It’s VERY sheer on me (and I am definitely not going for shiny, so I liked that). BUT I LOVE IT- it has been on my lips for over 3 hours and it’s still feeling moisturizing, which is rare for my very dry lips! When I run out of this one I’ll get the darker shade for a bit more tint on me, but bless you for this treasure hunt because I’ve been looking for the same thing.
I love love love the Nivea Strawberry Shine Lip Balm, it has that barely there pigment that allows you to apply multiple layers without looking too lipsticky. Maybe the color would look a little too orange for your skintone, but i find it to be the sheerest one of the Nivea tinted lip balms that I tested! Kisses from Brazil 😘
I don't know if someone else has suggested it, but the Colorscience Color Balm is an SPF 50 tinted mineral sunscreen product that can be used as lip balm, cheek color, etc. It starts thin but can be layered up for more pigment. IMO the stick is a little too wide to be used like a regular lipstick or lip balm, so finger or brush application preferred, especially for a more subtle color.
Okay i think you'd really love the wakemake lip balms (available on yestyle) specifically called the dew gel glaze stick, its a very nice semi thick and super moisturising texture with high shine and light tint. Also another pick of mine is the jung saem mool water tinted balm (should be available on olive young), id say their tint is even lighter than the wakemake but not as glossy.
I would love to see a video where you take a few picks from each video from this series of videos, do an all day application test where you are using it all throughout the day like you normally would and let us know how these products hold up to normal wear and if it changes your opinion of any of them. Like I’d be curious about the kiko lip balm and if it wears better than you thought based on first impressions.
I agree. The slathering that you do would drive me crazy. I want my lip balm to sooth on one to two passes- that’s it! Dealbreaker for me is having to apply more than that- how cool if you were able to collaborate with a skincare TH-camr to discuss how the companies expect people to use product (e.g., made for 2 swipes, Viseart shadows are formulated and tested to work #1 best with sable brushes ((that was the way it was years ago. I learned that from a Stephanie Nichol video :-)))
i am similar in complexion & have been very happy with etude’s ginger sugar melting balm in shade 02 “soft mauve”, although 01 “fig beige” and 04 “peanut butter” might be more in line with your color preferences
Oh. My gosh. THANK YOU Hannah! And thank you to all of your commenters! This is a journey I have also been on and...it's ruff out there. All of your criteria, except maybe for high gloss, are what I have been after for ages. Why? Why are lightly pigmented lip products so hard to find? Is it because we're pasty white girls? This must be it. Anyway, after watching this delightful video I immediately bought the Burt's Bees tinted lip balm and. The joy. The JOY this little guy is bringing me!! I can swipe a million times in the general direction of my lips and still get that effortless, my-lips-but-better look + soothing hydration. I'm so happy! This is precisely the reason why I love Beauty TH-camrs, but especially YOU because of your thorough, well organized, and thoughtful content. Thank you for what you do. ✨
Happy Mother’s Day! The Revlon one was discontinued but so many people have been trying it and loving it lately. They introduced that line right at the start of the pandemic and the company was facing bankruptcy so I’m hoping they bring it back. They had a clear one and some others that were lighter in color that weren’t as pigmented, the mid tone and darker shades were all buildable and opaque, though.
I have the clear - feels lovely, but be warned that it contains white shimmer particles that show up whiter and whiter when you build it up. But such a great texture!
I know the video is already out but I do have some additional suggestions! A hydrating tint is something I search for constantly and here are my current favorites: - Nivea Strawberry. I use Blackberry in the winter and usually blot it a bit. - Pixi +Hydra Lip Treat in Rosette. It’s a chubby tube that’s very hydrating and sheer. They have several shades. - Revlon Kiss in Berry Blast. The scent reminds me of Nivea Blackberry. Hate the cap, which always falls off in my purse.
I had the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm a while ago, and I liked it at first, but it made my lips peel after a while. I totally agree about the unacceptability of the scent of the L’Oreal Glow Paradise product - to me, it smells like kids’ fruity perfume or the Art Stuff display at Bath and Body Works in 2002 - cloyingly sweet and fruity without corresponding to a real fruit.
I love this video. I'm 55 and I never liked wearing lipstick so I have always used this type of product. Now with my lips loosing pigment I really appreciate this so thank you so much ☺️
Pacifica Lip Oil sticks have the same level of tint as the Burt’s bees but feels way more nourishing and it’s shiny- I was on the exact same journey last winter when my lips were super dry & chapped!
I would suggest trying 'fresh sugar lip treatment'. I have two colors - cocoa and icon. And from these two I think 'cocoa' will work better - it has a cool brown tint. I feel like it's less pigmented than Nivea blackberry shine, it's very much possible to layer with no mirror and not look like a clown after. But the texture might not be as thick as you are looking for, definitely not like nyx fat oil stick. Another one that I like is the Rimmel kind&free tinted lip balm. I would suggest checking out 'berry twist' or 'apricot beauty'. I like them for the texture, it feels thick and nourishing on the lips. But the pigment, I think it will be a lipstick for you with so many layers, but a tinted balm with 1-2 layers. Ohh, another one is new from catrice melt&shine, they are sooo sheer. In terms of color I think 030 and 100 are the best for you. I hope you see the comment and try some of my suggestions ❤
I tried the Rimmel kind and free in apricot beauty, but found it to be a more pigmented and less glossy / nourishing version of Romand. Fresh is kinda expensive >_< Catrice I would like to try but not sure if any color will be muted enough? Have you tried Sea-cret? That one looks promising
@@Justaregularoldplumbus I think the calmest (not including 010 clear with shimmer) would be 020 if you want light pink tint, 030 is closer to the lips color. 040-070 all look too bright and pink-reddish, would not recommend. 080 is kind of like a Nivea blackberry, too cool toned for me. 090 is a warm brown, 100 is a cool brown, both are visible but not as pigmented as lipstick, so if you like browns you might try one of those.
HLP + tinted lip balm reviews = the dream. thank you for a lovely and longer video. i’d love if you did end up trying the other shades in the nivea and the nyx if you could report back. as always just adore hearing and so grateful for your detailed and thoughtful reviews 🩷🩷🩷
Have you ever tried Fit Glow lip serums? They are seriously amazing. So beautiful on the lips. Clean ingredients - Basically edible. Taste and smell delicious. Only thing is they are in a tube with doe foot! But I’d definitely consider if you could get past that. Expensive but worth the splurge!
I really like the darkest brown in the Nyx Fat Oil stick, it's quite sheer and not orange at all! ❤ it has some copper shimmer, which I could go without, but it reads just as a nice shine 😊
I've been using Sun Bums (Bonfire) tinted lip balm for years now. I'm fair skinned, and this color goes great with my complexion.I love it! I've been asked what I'm using on my lips a lot. I even use it on my cheeks! It's thick but not sticky and has a beautiful healthy glow and lasts long
I‘m going to throw my favorite into the ring: the Kneipp care & color lip balms. I love the „deep“ version which is a sheer natural brick color but there is also a more vibrant one and a lighter rose version 💁♀️
I thought I was going to love the clear version of the NYX product but it's got enough glitter in it to actually distract me while applying. The glitter gets on anything your lips touch and won't come off without washing that surface due to the tenacity of the formula. I can see how some people would really enjoy it but it just didn't translate the way I was hoping for myself. Also, while the Romand balms do vary a bit in pigment level, but you were spot on with how a lot of us are applying it. It's not a "slather it on" type of product for me either, though I do like it when I want a quick layer of something. Still hunting for something with the same texture but even less pigment!
Try Burt’s Bees in Pomegranate. If I swatch on the back of my hand (light-medium skin tone) it looks clear, but swatched on white paper you can see it has a slight tint. The cap is a good indication of the colour of the tint. I can rub this on my lips in many layers and it leaves just the most subtle hint of colour. I also found the Burts Bees in Red Dahlia too much. I like my lips on the pale side.
I have settled for the Burt's Bees in Red Dahlia and the Nivea Blackberry because I refuse to spend any more than that on something that's not brilliant. None of them are.
We have identical requirements. Will need to try Red Dahlia. Love that it's cruelty-free, too. The regular BB does not cut it for me as lip balm, which is why I've never tried their tinted balms.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY HANNAH!!! I definitely remember loving a Nivea lip balm in high school that was completely sheer with some shinmer! It was slightly pink but not color changing or anything and just enhanced your natural lip color. I also remember LOVING Burt’s Bees tinted chapstick in the Rose shade! I hope they still make it because it was perfection for me. I also think you’d enjoy the Sugar Fresh tinted lip balms from Sephora, I was surprised none of them made it into your last video as they have a huge array of shades. I second the person that commented they’d love to see you try the Paco Rabanne lip balms also 😍
One product I've been loving is the BareMinerals Dewy Lip Gloss-Balm - probably one of the most nourishing lip balms I've tried, with a good shine and a light fruity scent. The shade in Dream might work for you - I have it and it gives almost no color (I'm a light-medium shade), however Grateful gives a more nude-ish color.
Happy Mother's Day!! I haven't watched yet but noticed Japanese Nivea is missing from your thumbnail. It's *sooo* nourishing, very sheer, and unscented. I hope in this video you found what you're looking for, but if not- get the Japanese Nivea Rich Care & Color. It's the one. Cheers 🥂
Hemp organics lip tint! Whole Foods used to carry it, but now I order online. Terra is the perfect warm bricky color, and Earth is great neutral/cooler tone. It’s hydrating, simple, lasts a while, the packaging is minimal. Highly recommend!
Ok! Soooo. The Rom&nd Glasting Melting Balms do vary in pigmentation color to color, even though that's not really advertised. At least, according to Minsco (on youtube) who reviews like every korean lip product. The glasting melting balms have a lot of colors, including nudes and browns. So, if someone is looking for a more transparent nude, I think Nubeige, Buffy Coral, Coco Nude are less pigmented.
I use Burts bees original formula chapstick...best texture...and then I layer one if their tints on top...the original is the dream thickness....it just stays...love it
Surprisingly, the Covergirl Clean Fresh balm is quite a "sturdy" formula which is thin but somehow tenacious, and the pigment lays evenly on the lips, which I find can be an issue with tinted balms. Its unscented too! The color range may not be ideal for you, but the pink is quite neutral, and the peach isn't too warm.
romands glasting melting balm comes in way paler colors! Scotch nude is one of the much more pigmented ones try coco nude, buffy coral, nu beige or nougat sand with nougat sand being the more pigmented one of the bunch i would say~
Maybe going for something a bit more nude instead of the darkish browny shades you naturally gravitate towards? Something like Coco Nude, Nu Beige or Buffy Coral from the Romand range. It seems unlikely to get a sheer finish in a formula that builds into a thick balmy layer without having pigment buildup. Those will always come out too deep for what you want when layering thickly, especially if you go for a medium or “dark” colour. On the other hand, the sheerer formulas that give you the wash of colour your want will always more likely be thinner and less cushiony.
I love Rom&nd’ melting balm. I got scotch nude and also find the pigment too strong. Then I got 10 Nu Beige, which is a lot lighter with a slight tint. I apply it like lip balm all over and love it so much!
I love Nivea Blackberry (I am a light skin tone, but darker than you). But I can whole heartedly recommend all of the other shades to you-the Cherry red one is *chef’s kiss,* but there’s also watermelon and strawberry!
I really think what you're looking for could be the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint. It's not got much colour, it is mostly a shiny lip balm. But you might be done with your journey
Hi Hannah!! I feel like the Rabanne lovebalm hydrating lip balm would be a great option for you. It’s very creamy and nourishing. The color 011 Soul Kiss is perfectly cool and not too pigmented. I’m a fair olive/neutral as well and I use it even without makeup. Hope it checks all your boxes 😊
I was kind of surprised that I don't think Hannah even mentioned those or the ubiquitous Black Honey (which, to be fair, I'm literally wearing right now 😆) in this process.
@@Quinn-wh1nv which is funny because the Nivea blackberry and Burts Bees red dahlia are always thrown around as dupes for the Clinque black honey almost lipstick. There is a lighter pink honey color that might work.
Hi, if you like the Nive one I suggest you to try the strawberry one, I think it would better fit your pigmentation criteria. I personally love the cherry one and wear it on a thin layer but if I want more pigmentation I apply a bit of concealer to my lips and really work the lip balm on.
the winner is literally the one I carry around in my bag when I want pigment and not just a balm - I think this is the first time ever that one of my favorite products has shown up in your videos :) as always, beautiful work i loved the video
I feel like we need a finale of this series- the correct shades from formulae you liked, both high end and drugstore. Maybe K Beauty products? Basically, we need more!!
I second this! A ranking video of your favorites across every category.
I third this… plus all the 138 likes so far.
I feel like Finding Ferdinand needs to reach out to Hannah to collaborate on creating this perfect shiny nourishing lightly tinted lip balm.
Yes!!!
Came here to say the same.
If you add "must contain broad spectrum SPF" to the checklist, the perfect tinted lip product becomes nearly impossible to find.
Agreed
AGREED.
Sadly, yes
I just bought the Tarte one and I think I like it, but I haven’t really tested the sun protection of it
Lanolips has good ones
As someone with OCD, I wish everyone made videos like this for literally everything. I have loved this series and this journey truly lol
Surprise no one has mentioned the elf hydrating core lip shines! They have minimal pigment, incredible shine, and a slight melon scent. On top of that there’s a good colour selection as well.
I love that formula!!!! 🙌🏻 I wish there was a color that worked better for me, because it's such a beautiful product.
@saram3156 it's vanilla for me...bleh! Give me rose or anything herbal all day long.
Please make a part 2 of drugstore lip balms ❤
I love it when you test out and tell us about affordable products
same 🤗 especially because i trust hannah to NOT put affordability before quality AND vice versa, so having a very limited budget doesn't feel like such a bad stigma when she gives 'our' products the credit they deserve 😊 i mean companies are not a monolith and the number of those that are actually trying to serve poor customers (i feel like we should reclaim that term btw. it's not shameful to have little) well is growing. they're often the ones with a strong focus on sustainability and worker's rights too, which is absolutely no coincidence.
Buffy Coral and Nu Beige might suit you better from Rom&nd!
*Edit* suit what you're looking for with a less pigmented colour, I mean 💕
I second that, my lips are borderline white but Buffy Coral works for me and is much more see through 🪸
I have nu beige, gorgeous color! I don't particularly love the scent though which really made me sad. It also gives me that weird thing after a few hrs of wear. Little pieces of product kind of bunches up? I'm not sure if it's a me problem or something that's common. I don't apply more than one swipe.
Nu beige is perfect!!
I just got Scotch Nude in the mail, and it feels so dark compared to photos online. (I just got typed as a Light Spring in the Korean Color Analysis system). I'm making it work by dabbing it on, but I'll probably try Buffy Coral next 😅
@@auderp I have Nougat Sand, I think it's similar to Scotch Nude, and it's definitely warmer and more pigmented than I expected from seeing it online
I've read too many murder mysteries to be comfortable with the scent of almonds in my mouthzone.
Underrated comment😂😂
😂
Wait could you please explain
@@FC-eh7ll the poison cyanide can sometimes have a bitter almond smell to it
@@FC-eh7ll Cyanide has that smell (naturally present in bitter almonds and apples, peaches, apricots, lima beans, barley, sorghum, flaxseed and bamboo shoots.)
I think you are right that the disconnect is how many layers you prefer to apply. I love Rom&nd and Nivea but I prefer a quick swipe application. I do like layering a lip mask before bed and during my skincare routine. Those products are all potted though.
Yes ! I use the Romand and Revlon ones and a layer or two makes it so that the color is much more of a tint
I’d love to see a video of you exploring dark lipstick with minimal/ no other makeup, I think that look is so chic but the lip has to be just right.
Peripera mauve promenade is a gorgeous sheer muted mauve with a hint of brown tinted lip balm with beautiful packaging 🤍
I forgot to note that it’s a kbeauty brand and affordable too
sounds like a dream...
My skin tends to be dry as a fart, so I also slather stuff on
@@louibeanssame hahaha
@@louibeansWe all aspire to dry farts; not all succeed.
I live in Arizona, a pea sized amount of lotion would evaporate before i could even apply it to my face. 😅
Rhubarb here and everywhere. I have one peony bought by mistake.
Lol omg same here. Been using red dahlia for years and was curious if there was something better!
I use this product in Kaya Fig, and it’s DELIGHTFUL
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY HANNAH!!!
My little sister's "lip balm of her dreams" is the nature republic honey melting lip balm. I had to google that before I called it the "honey republic" lip balm. She also was looking for low-pigment high-shine balms, so you might want to try it if you do an East Asian or YesStyle balm video.
I second this!
@jessicaferguson5252 yup I almost got the hibiscus shade too LOL. Next time!
I'm also a light olive and I love the shade hibiscus on me as well ❤
If you can find it, the shade Daisy is a lovely Black Honey dupe and it’s my absolute favorite!
I think the sunscreen is the taste. It always smells good at first, then creates a vomity, acid reflux taste in my mouth a half hour later.
I have a different shade and i love it as well!
I love the Soul Kiss! Got "influenced" by Kackie, but since it basically lives in my purse, I didn't waste my money.
@@darahorcasitas9761YES! Soul Kiss is the one!! In fact, I thought of Hannah the first time I used it!❤
Yes I love this one too.. and could be cool enough in colouring
The shade "jam" would be such a striking lip look on Hannah!
I agree that this Naturium product seems to meet all of her criteria. I’m not sure Hannah will find what she’s looking for in a bullet formula.
Rose is my go to from burts bees 🤌
I see that we aren’t tinted lip balm besties so I think you may like: Peripera Mood Glowy Balm or the Innisfree Dewy Tint Balm. The color really doesn’t matter for me as they are SO sheer even when I layer to death. Peripera has a fruity scent while Innisfree is slightly menthol. I look forward to your continued quest!
Oo gonna look at the innesfree one
Finally a video where I can actually justify to spend the money of the products you're talking about ❤
Watching this video I realized that what you consider thin or watery is actually one of my requirements because for me it feels more soothing to my lips.
I love this discovery because you're one of my favorite TH-camrs but I know our styles and preferences are often different and it's a perfect way to get recommendations even if they are not to your taste as much! :)
Love this and pretty much all your videos by the way.
They are my favorite! So comfortable and luxurious.
Ulta used to carry a dupe for these, and I loved them!! I might have to go back and purchase some from Girlatick because Ulta discontinued theirs.
Where do you buy these?
@Justaregularoldplumbus I found some colors on Amazon, and They do have a website where you can order straight from the company.
Pretty sure Hannah might dismiss these as a melting glossy balm. 🤷🏻♀️
Yestyle has more shades of the Nivea Rich Care and Color, including Glossy Beige that you might love
This! Sparkling Honey is a very sheer cool nude brown. Very very sheer.
I’d put money on you liking the romand glasting melting balm in Buffy Coral, it’s VERY desaturated and great for pale skin.
The Nivea balms break me out all around my lips, right on the lip line! Something to note for my fellow acne sufferers
@DiMagnolia it's so hard to find one -- for me it is the plain ol Burts Bees 🐝
That happens to me when I try herbal teas. Found out it’s related to my blood type. So now, I do my best to follow “eating right for your blood type” in all my skincare and it’s made a huge difference! Hope this helps ❤
@@JenniferSmilesNow which blood type? where to find the eating guides?
Congrats on the new cover!!
I remember when you got the original one, you gave a shout-out to the illustrator and that made me like you more. I see that you're highlighting the multifaceted nature of the channel and it makes me happy to see the 'writing' stripe.
Idk if anyone mentioned the Burts Bees pomegranate balm, but it's a nice one. It looks so much more intense in the tube than it is on the lips. I'm very pale like you, so I understand the struggle with pigment. Happy Mother's Day!
Definitely try the other Nivea colors in that line.. my personal favorite is cherry but you may prefer strawberry or peach. They’re VERY subtle
I can't believe through all of this, you never tried (or revisited) the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms. The plum one is definitely more brown leaning and is one of my favourite tried and true balms of all time. Plus the lemon scent is everything. ❤️
I second this comment!!
Those are fantastic! I got a duo a bazillion years ago as a Sephora birthday gift, and I totally panned both. I should add one to my next order.
I found them to be a thin oily texture. not a fan
Agree, the plum, cocoa, and the honey are amazing
I think you’d love the Olio e Osso lip balms! They’re my absolute favorite and I think they would check off a lot of your boxes. They’re truly sheer (even the ones they describe as bold shades aren’t nearly as pigmented as they appear on their website imo), feel great on the lips and don’t wear off quickly, and have a subtle natural grapefruit scent. I’m as fair skinned as you and I can apply as many layers of these as I please (without a mirror!) and they stay sheer and non-lipsticky. Would love to see you try them!
Yes, I was thinking about them too. Matilda on video swatched them all on camera.
Up for Hannah to see this !
Yes! I love currant
Are these super shiny? Online they don’t look like it and don’t look very luxe for $28 /: although Currant shade is gorg
Yes yes, I use Burt’s bees and use this one as everyday lip balm 😊 love that’s it’s not clear or sticky, but feels deeply nourishing.
As someone who is somewhere on the darkest of the pale olives or lightest of the medium olives, I think the blackberry one sounds perfect for me and I am so excited to try it
Also the honest beauty lip balm in the shade “plum drop” would be a good one to check all boxes!
I really like that formula too!
This is one of the sheerest tinted lip balms I’ve tried! Like burts bees red dahlia. Burt’s is a better texture but Honest is a better color and packaging, and no scent
I was about to recommend this! It's beautiful.
These are really nice
I have the clear with glitter version of the Nyx Fat Oil balm, definitely recommend ✨ It’s a thick, durable formula
I've been meaning to pick that one up because the other colors in the collection look too pigmented for me.
I love the Ilia tinted lip balms… they have the perfect amount of pigment and the traditional, slightly waxy texture of chapstick. They have a brown and a mauve that I think you would like. On no makeup days I just slap some on, if I want it to look more like makeup I add a lip liner.
The Nivea Smokey Rose looked gorgeous on you! My jaw dropped! ❤
The nude collection of the rom&ND glasting balms are less pigmented, particularly the 2 lighter shades.
Honest lip balms! They’re pretty amazing.
Ugh, I’m so glad you like red dahlia. I wish it was more nourishing feeling too, but I love that stuff
I think what you are looking for its found in many squeezy tube lip balm products, but the sticks are usually too thin
Rabanne Lovebalm Hydrating Lip Balm shade: 011 Soul Kiss (sheer mauve brown)
Love this series! If you make more in the future, I would love visuals. Like a chart where you check off the criteria that is met for each product.
Oh.
@@Lowriaa yes I used mine as a base then put a gloss over it
I know the video is already out but I do have some additional suggestions! A hydrating tint is something I search for constantly and here are my current favorites:
- Nivea Strawberry.
I've never been able to use Burt's Bees products, because I consistently end up with peeling, dry lips from them.
What color do you get? They all look so bright and saturated /:
You may like the Ravie beauty tinted balms (by Allie Glines), you can layer those like crazy. The shade Lily is really nice!
I just tried on the Rimmel kind&free lip balm in Apricot Beauty and I'm quite confident that this would be a lipstick on Hannah.
@@Quinn-wh1nv yeah I guess so, I just like the texture a lot 🌞
HLP + tinted lip balm reviews = the dream. thank you for a lovely and longer video. i’d love if you did end up trying the other shades in the nivea and the nyx if you could report back. as always just adore hearing and so grateful for your detailed and thoughtful reviews 🩷🩷🩷
The tarte Maracuja lip (pink packaging) is like the NYX fat lip but wayyyyy less pigmented. You need to try it the GLOSS is insane!!
Have you ever tried Fit Glow lip serums? They are seriously amazing. So beautiful on the lips. Clean ingredients -
Basically edible. Taste and smell delicious. Only thing is they are in a tube with doe foot! But I’d definitely consider if you could get past that. Expensive but worth the splurge!
I love Nivea Rich Care & Color! I’ve got all shades and I love Bordeaux the most. It’s similar to the legendary Black Honey from Clinique.
I really like the darkest brown in the Nyx Fat Oil stick, it's quite sheer and not orange at all! ❤ it has some copper shimmer, which I could go without, but it reads just as a nice shine 😊
Red dahlia is a nice one, for sure.
Beyond excited to finally have the drugstore version 🥳
Try Burt’s Bees in Pomegranate. If I swatch on the back of my hand (light-medium skin tone) it looks clear, but swatched on white paper you can see it has a slight tint. The cap is a good indication of the colour of the tint. I can rub this on my lips in many layers and it leaves just the most subtle hint of colour. I also found the Burts Bees in Red Dahlia too much. I like my lips on the pale side.
I’ve been wondering if you had tried the Burt’s Bees ones! They’re a go-to for me.
I second the person that commented they’d love to see you try the Paco Rabanne lip balms also 😍
I was shocked too the Fresh Sugar ones didn't make it in these lol Plum is one of my all time faves!
Cheers 🥂
Oh yeah, that American Nivea one you're using is much more pigmented than the Japanese iteration. We got this 🙌
Oops, you did find it. Yay! ❤ I'm glad you liked it, but a bummer it didn't quite get there for you.
Hemp organics lip tint! Whole Foods used to carry it, but now I order online. Terra is the perfect warm bricky color, and Earth is great neutral/cooler tone. It’s hydrating, simple, lasts a while, the packaging is minimal. Highly recommend!
I love the Hemp Organics lip tints! They are super comfortable and I love that they’re also fragrance free.
Ok!
Peripera has a beautiful tinted balm
I use Burts bees original formula chapstick...best texture...and then I layer one if their tints on top...the original is the dream thickness....it just stays...love it
Stick with Romand… Scotch Nude is very pigmented. Nu Beige is divine.
Also, the Coral one is very transparent
You should try the covergirl clean fresh tinted lip balms! Bliss you berry is my favorite shade ❤
I love those, but I think they are much more pigmented than she wants.
@@mariadentino6811True, they are very pigmented for us fair girlys I did love the formula so much that I bought the clear one
This was SO GRITTY when I tried it! Unbearable
I was looking for this comment! Bobbi Brown ones are the ones I can rely on
Not a drugstore option, but based on the description of what you're looking for I'd suggest the Clinique Chubby Stick in 'fuller fig'.
Was totally thinking that the Clinique chubby sticks would absolutely be the ticket.
Your correct pronunciation of the word plethora is music to my ears, and your reccos are always so helpful.
Please do another and include the new Jones road!!! It's so thick and creamy. And there are tons of colors including some that are super sheer!
Hi, if you like the Nive one I suggest you to try the strawberry one, I think it would better fit your pigmentation criteria. I personally love the cherry one and wear it on a thin layer but if I want more pigmentation I apply a bit of concealer to my lips and really work the lip balm on.
Please do a series like this for drugstore mascara ❤❤❤
the winner is literally the one I carry around in my bag when I want pigment and not just a balm - I think this is the first time ever that one of my favorite products has shown up in your videos :) as always, beautiful work i loved the video
