Freeze dry eggs (uncooked) then powder it before putting in mylar or mason jar. 1 TBSP dry egg powder rehydrated with 2-3 TBSP water for recipes calling for an egg. ❤
It’s important to get to know your freeze dryer before you adventure into using it! So easy to have mishaps but also so easy to find info on utube. Binge watch-there’s so much good info available. Few tips that come to mind are do like things together, either all frozen or all fresh(preferably frozen-takes hrs off time), set extra dry time to 12 hours so never have to worry about it completing while asleep or gone, know what just won’t dry, keep to the weight allowance and never end cycle by pressing defrost or no defrost until your absolutely sure your entire batch is completely dry. Package promptly. Extra set of trays will be super convenient so you can have your next batch freezing while batch is running and have a place in your freezer designated for your trays. If your going to be stacking them get the stackers for the corners, disposable parchment paper cut specifically for your size, and a metal bench scraper to help break up, remove and package your finished product in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers or mason jars. There’s a learning curve for sure but so much fun and reward! Oh yeah, join a freeze dry group on Facebook so you can learn more and ask q’s!
Love my freeze dryer!! Especially apples, pears, bananas. I've also done bell peppers, mushrooms, and chopped zucchini. My favorite though is raw scrambled eggs. We get so many eggs we can't eat them all so I mixed them up and freeze dry raw. Makes powder and then reconstitute with water and you can't tell the difference from the fresh scrambled eggs. Plus they are self stable this way and don't take up counter or fridge space.
Love your haul! Wow...that's a lot of stuff! Looks like you have already gotten some good freeze dryer tips. When doing liquids, place the tray in the freeze dryer(or freezer, if pre-freezing) BEFORE filling. Then fill the tray with liquid to avoid spilling. I use a measuring cup. I recently started freeze drying avocados. I put them in a bowl of water & lemon juice while cutting them up to keep them green. I pre-freeze them before putting them in the freeze dryer. They come out beautifully. Things that have a high fat or high sugar content do not freeze dry! I always pre-freeze to shorten run times. My sister gave me 2 freeze dryer cookbooks for Christmas...yay! "Retired at 40" aka "Life Life Simple" is a great resource. Freeze drying raw scrambled eggs is my favorite way to preserve. Just be sure to mark on your mylar bag: RAW eggs. I also mark on bag: 2T water + 2 T egg powder= 1 egg. Oh, raw and cooked meats look the same when they are freeze dried, so be sure to mark your bags! Happy Freeze Drying!
No, you cannot mix fresh and frozen foods in the freeze dryer. Your manual will give you loads of info. I freeze dry fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, milk, yogurt, sour cream, half and half, heavy whipping cream, herbs, bone broth. I do not freeze dry meals, because I use the ingredients to make meals in a jar, and we like that much better. Your kids will love yogurt bites, ice cream, and candy freeze dried.
Thank you so much for letting me know that! I am so excited to use mine and finally freeze dry. I love that there is such a wide variety of things you can freeze dry. I love the idea of the meals in a jar. I will have to look further into that. That could be a life saver on the busy days! Thanks again 😊❤️
We have had our FD for nearly 4 years now and have ZERO regrets. We are actually planning to get another one, the XL this year. We like to freeze beforehand when able to save time. It’s not as scary as some people make it sound. Certainly read your manual but don’t stress yourself out! It’s far more forgiving than some would have you believe. 😅
Today was my first Azure pickup experience in Loveland CO. I was surprised to see such a large group in my area. Met a lot of people and they were all so welcoming. THANK YOU for sharing your video today. I love watching Azure Hauls
I used to go to a drop in Loveland before I started our drop up here. There was a large group down there, and everyone there was so friendly! You are going to love Azure Standard!! There's such a wide variety of products they offer. 😊
I just added the marshmallow fluff to my cart after watching your haul. Som many products I had no idea Azure had…so many. 😊@@rockymountainhomesteadangela
I have a freeze dryer for almost 2 years and don't regret it. It is awesome. Yesterday I watched a video where it says not to mix frozen with fresh and put it together in the fd. . We always pre-freeze our stuff. It is freeze dried way quicker. One suggestion: Follow the manual and everything will be fine. :) Have fun! :)
I just got my Harvest right last summer -- I LOVE IT -- Whenever possible always freeze your food before you freeze dry - totally cuts down on the drying time. Can’t wait to see how you love it
How fun to watch a fellow Coloradan! I am a native Oregon but moved to Loveland last April. We love it here! Snow, ice, and all! I am looking into ordering from Azure. I really want Oregon Marion berries!
Colorado is such a beautiful state to live in! Loveland has a wonderful drop near Centerra that we used to go to before I started our drop up here. I hope you have a wonderful experience if you do start ordering from them! 😊
I'm on my second Freeze Dryer Large this time. My daughter has the older Medium. We live in Texas but have property in Colorado. Everything there we have Freeze-dried. Been do this for 6 years. Love it. I make a lot of meals and just rehydrate and super quick meals are ready.
I absolutely love that! I need to look into the meals and give those a try. I'm sure that would make life so easy on the days we are busy and trying to put dinner together at dinnertime!! Thank you ❤️
@@rockymountainhomesteadangela Make any meals you make for your family as long as it doesn't have a lot of fat or butter. It will spoil faster. With your large family you may not have leftovers. Just enjoy your machine. Put it in and let it do all of the work.

Finally feeling normal again and just finished filming a video. I hope to edit it tonight when I am home from training. I appreciate you so much and the prayers are needed more than you know. I'm sure it has been mentioned, but you can not mix fresh and frozen in the Harvest Right freeze dryer. Congratulations on adding a freeze dryer to your homestead!! Be sure and let your freeze dryer set upright for first 24 hours and then do your bread run. FYI Azure frozen veggies all nicely cut are great for freeze drying to use in dishes!

Can you share the cost of your Azure haul?? Do you find it less expensive than shopping at local grocery stores? I like the fact that most things are organic. Excited to try them but still wondering about cost. Thanks!
With shipping, it was $1,617. For a family our size, I do find it more cost-effective to buy in bulk from Azure Standard, especially organic. The costs at Safeway are too high, and the products are too small for our family size. Sams club is decent but not much organic, and if we did a monthly haul from Sam's Club, it is not too far off in price. I do find the produce from Azure is usually much better than what the stores around us have to offer, and believe it or not, it's more affordable too. I hope that helps a little! 😊
@@rockymountainhomesteadangela Great, Thank you! It’s just me and my husband, but I like to buy in bulk when I can and either freeze or store stuff to have on hand. You shouldn’t mix frozen and non frozen items in your freeze dryer. You will find that freeze dried fruits are awesome. Well so far in my two years of owning a freeze dryer I have not found anything we have not loved. Happy freeze drying😊
I’m not condemning any one but this site seen very pricey being single I could not afford it glad your family can get it love looking at your food god bless your family

@@rockymountainhomesteadangela I have a medium and it cost about 150-160 to run. The only things I’ve enjoyed from FDing are milk, apples, eggs, oj, bananas, and spinach. But the cost on top of regular electric bill is making me want to sell. Sorry I certainly don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but people need to know reality of such an expensive purpose.
@Justmegd not enough people talk about that, I agree. Our electrician said we would have been better off getting two mediums than the large one that needs its own circuit. I definitely should have dug a little deeper. I have not tried orange juice in ours. I'm going to have to give that a go!

holy cow!!! Harvest right one of your gifts!?? we couldn't even buy each other a gift!.... sorry..I was just surprise
You can not mix frozen and not in the same load.
Check out Becky from acre farms she does a lot with hers
How much did everything cost?
About $1,617 ( including $133.70 for shipping)
You shouldn’t mix frozen and non frozen items in your freeze dryer. You will find that freeze dried fruits are awesome. Well so far in my two years of owning a freeze dryer I have not found anything we have not loved. Happy freeze drying😊
Thank you so much for leaving that comment. Very helpful to know! 😊
I’m not condemning any one but this site seen very pricey being single I could not afford it glad your family can get it love looking at your food god bless your family
I got an e-book from a TH-camr called “RoseRedHomestead”. She explains freeze drying very clearly. She is a gifted teacher, so she helps clarify a myriad of questions
Rose red does NOT advocate water glassing eggs & proves “why” she thinks it’s unsafe.
@@etcowwith-et3350 I was talking about freeze drying. I’m sorry if you misunderstood
How many times can you say ummm?
Ummm..... probably a lot 😏
No need to fix your dehydrater, frezze dry your banana chips so much better than dehydrated
Good point!! 😊
Loved checking out your "Huge Azure Standard Haul" - you've got everything covered for a family of 10! We sent you an email, please take a look.
If you would like to watch videos from another Homesteder leave a cooment if its okay for me to post. I'd love to pass info if your interested.
One idea that caught my attention is guacamole. Mmm!
I wish I never spent the money on my freeze dryer. What an expensive waste. Canned food is much better tasting and it costs a lot to run. 😬🥲
Ours cost a LOT to run. Our peak time cost for electricity where we live is expensive and adds up fast!
@@rockymountainhomesteadangela Organic orange juice is awesome. I buy mine online through Matt’s And it FDs extremely well. I love being able to have oj any time.
And I don’t like home FD meat or meals. Yuck. Tried many times and it always tastes weird, especially homemade spaghetti with meat sauce. 😔
