2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E First Edition Comprehensive In Car Review: Foretelling the Future

  • Yes, this is a real Mustang, even though it is also a battery electric SUV from Ford. It is a ground-up EV. And it shows in its proportions, lack of any kind of grille and novel storage compartments. The Mustang Mach-E is also surprisingly fun to drive, even in well below freezing temperatures.
    In this video, I tackle the "is it a real Mustang" question right off the bat and then dig into the details of the four-door, five-passenger Blue-Oval clad vehicle. From there, I show you around and inside the car, and give you a close look at many of the features of the 15.5-inch vertically mounted center console touchscreen. I also give some interesting tidbits about the key fob.
    From there we go on a nice drive in the country to talk about driving range, horsepower, motor sound, space, comfort, ride and handling. It is an in-depth look at a forward thinking car that, whether you embrace EVs or not, you're not going to want to miss. Join me!

    Really enjoyed your review. Agree about the Mustang name, good for Ford. It got everyone talking, everyone's attention.
    Love the new all electric Mustang.

    Thank you f or a particularly sane, unemotional, and accurate portrayal of what the MME really is....AND your intoning that this "represents the future of cars" is particularly relevant. I have driven non-Tesla EVs as my ONLY car for six years. I live in the glorious mountains of Utah so it uses up 25 to 50 miles of range just getting to "civilization", but I have NEVER had a range problem...never been stranded...and I never wait for charging because I don't have to stand there and "pump charge" like I used to "pump gas" ... I am free to do useful things while the car charges...but, truth be told, over 95% of charging happens in my garage while I'm asleep. Oh, and the notion of preheating the car (with the garage door down) totally safely and without exhaust to worry about is a big plus in the Winter. Finally, I think WAY too much is made of range. You're right; in the winter when my total range is 160 miles...no big deal...in extreme circumstances that number has gotten down to 40 miles...and I drive in the garage and have a "full tank" the next morning. Range anxiety is only a subject for non-EV owners as an excuse for not even considering this wonderful new technology. I have never, as an owner, experienced "range anxiety" -- yes, it takes planning...but even that comes second nature after a couple of weeks. It's the ONLY way to travel...I'll never go back to an ICE car...from my point of view (after 80,000 miles of EV driving) they can't bring it on soon enough. I just wish our government would have the guts of some European nations. of putting a stake in the ground after which ICE vehicles will no longer be registered. I have no idea whether humans are making substantial contribution to global warming...but I do know, without a doubt, that the yellow cloud that hangs over Salt Lake in the Winter is totally man made....but I also know I do not contribute to it. Great review !!

    The “engine” sound can be turned off in any drive mode (just like one-pedal can be). This makes “whisper” kind of a bad name in my opinion as unbridled and engaged could also be just as quiet. With the fake sounds turned off, the main difference between modes is the steering and pedal response, along with the “coasting” level (amount of regen braking that is applied when no pedal is pressed down and one-pedal is turned off).

    nice review, thanks for that. Could you address the life-span of the battery packs; when will they need to be replaced and does the warranty cover battery replacement? If so, how many miles or years?

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're welcome and thank you for the compliment. Ford provides an 8 year/100,000 miles on "electric vehicle components" including the battery. And in the eight years, the battery must retain, "at least 70% of its capacity" If it doesn't its replaced under warranty.

    Thank you for making this video. Good job. But I have one question: How does the lack of a traditional grille feel forced? Were they supposed to include a old school grille to make gearheads feel better? I think the propulsion sound was all the compromise needed - but that's just my opinion. THANK YOU for pointing out that this IS a Mustang - irrespective of opinions to the contrary. Just because it isn't a Mustang in the traditional 2 door coupe with a racy ICE engine sense, doesn't mean it's not a Mustang. Ford has expanded the Bronco name into a sub brand and maybe that's what they intend to do with the Mustang brand. Who could blame them for leveraging the pony badge? They will need an edge to drag reticent drivers into the 21st century and beyond.

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the compliment! It feels forced to me in the sense that the pony on the grille is such an iconic visual symbol of the Mustang, so to see it on something different with a fundamentally different powertrain made me do a double take. It felt like this car was trying to force the same visual statement.

    Oh what a horrible name, for an original design, Mach E sounds like something I would order from a Japanese restaurant, its almost as bad as the Bronco Warthog, is it a horse, or a pig.
    I know lets just call all the ford motor vehicles Mustangs, even the trucks you know because they own the company and all. Or here's a thought, new vehicle, first one of its kinda for ford to actually mass produce, lets put on our thinking caps and give it a new name, stock holder's tells design team we can't afford new badges, just use the mustang ones💩
