    Hell yeah! Been waiting for this one, man. Excellent review! (And it's only a matter of time before the inevitable Corvette SUV, so I'm trying to learn to accept the naming conventions...) 😜

      LOL Exactly. I guess I'd rather have a Mustang crossover than a Probe one.

    There’s a Tesla in my town, seen it dozens of times. One day Mach E drove by, I had to double take to make out the difference.
    Sharp car in person. Your right about the color! The two EV’s in my town are charcoal black metallic, nothing to write home about!
    Thanks for the review!

      Thanks, Torsee. Teslas are literally everywhere in the Atlanta area, so when people saw this Mach-E, it was like a breath of fresh air. Plus, all th Mustang emblems we're throwing people off, too. Needless to say, it attracted a ton of attention. Thanks for watching!

    It been a while, since, I could enjoy your channel (back to work at the office) and I am glad I did! Chris you are rocking some superb whipes for 2021, I am very happy your show is so successful. 🏆
    I just saw 2 Mach-E this pass weekend and seeing your review has energized me to want a Ford (finally). The Mach-E is a looker and a solid performance SUV. I am blown away with the Ford Design Team; it designed a hit. They have reach the next level on their 1st try. Tesla needs to sharpen their pencils and get to work with a proper contender. The Mach-E has been well thought out from the outside, inside, and everywhere in between, I hope this is the new Ford Company Development direction because is very much needed and very much appreciated.

    Great review! I think Ford has a winner here, but it does need a couple of software updates to remove the screen lag and issues with the route mapping using the built-in nav. I'm shopping this versus the Tesla Model Y long range.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting points, Mowcowbell. We actually enjoyed using Android Auto for navigation, so we didn't experience any lag with the built-in system. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

    Good honest view as always.
    But if Ford wanted to use a 'house-hold name', they could have used the Thunderbird ...
    Already seeing these Mustang EV's on European roads. Haven't driven one yet.
    Not a fan of the glass roof though...And agree 💯 about that 'tablet'. Blame that on Tesla.
    See you next time!

      We haven't seen any on our roads yet, FrankypankyV8, but we did get A LOT of looks while we had this one. As always, thanks for watching and see you next time, as well!

    I have had mine now for 3 weeks and loving every minute of it. And yes....I chose Carbonized Grey. It is my personal favorite after seeing all of the colors in person now (I am in Ford Sales).

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats, Mark Bohler. I'm sure the grey looks just fine. 😳 😅 All jokes aside, you got some insider color info that the rest of us don't, so maybe the grey is alright. 🤔 That red is beautiful, though. Enjoy your new car and thanks for watching!

    Good review Chris. I not feeling the Mustang vibe though and performance with this EV is lackluster at best. 4.8 sec to 60? That's anemic. Judging from your jacket, you didn't test the AC. I'd like to know how much the range is shortened when that sunroof turns the car into a greenhouse and the AC is running full blast on one of our usual Georgia summer days. 270 miles of range under optimal conditions isn't that great anyway, especially when most of the competition is over 300 miles. I expected more for a $60K price tag. Hopefully Ford will get better with more experience in the EV market.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's a tough one, R. Brown. We've all become accustomed to Tesla's range (and acceleration), but we have to remember that to get those ultra-levels of performance, you have to pay upwards of six figures. For the most part, everything else is still under 300 miles, with the exception of some vehicles that have not hit the market yet. So, we still give Ford a pass on that. In regards to the glass roof, it may not have shown well on camera, but it seems to tint itself in bright sunlight, then becomes clearer at night. Even though it was a bit chilly while we had the car, we didn't notice any heat coming through it while the sun was shining. As with all EVs, you will lose some range when the climate control is blasting, though. With Nissan's Leaf topping out close to $40k, we think $60k is fair in today's market. They're all expensive, but as the tech becomes more normal, the pricing will eventually come down. As always, we appreciate your comments, R. Brown. Thanks for watching!

    • @brownro214
      @brownro214 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our oldest son (39) just test drove one this week. He said the acceleration was terrible. I forgot to ask but that must have been the base model. He didn’t like it as well as the Tesla Model X that previously drove. I believe these two are pretty close in price. I haven’t had the chance to drive either one myself. Tesla has a big lead in EVs so it’s normal for Ford to have to do some catching up. Competition should be good for us consumers. Thanks for your work on these reviews.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brownro214 Yeah, possibly it was a lower trim because while it's not as quick as top-trim Teslas, 4.8 seconds is still pretty good. The Leaf is only 8.4 seconds, yet with 100% torque from a dead stop, it feels way quicker. We agree, the entire industry has had some catching up to do, but you're right. Competition is wonderful. We even noticed that Tesla has begun to drop its prices on some trims, which again would only happen due to competition. Doubt it's from Ford, but there's a lot of buzz going on in China right now. Time will tell!

      @@AutoAcademics 0-60 in 4.8 is muscle car and supercar territory just six or seven years ago. That's plenty fast enough for everyday commuting which is what these cars are intended for. Anyway 30-60 is more useful because that's what helps in realistic scenarios where you need to pass or merge into traffic. Keep up the good content.

    My decision to buy an electric sedan is down to the Ford Mach-E and Nissan Ariya. Who will it be now? I watched on the news that the city of Petaluma, California is banning anyone from building new gas stations, I guess they are getting ready for the drop in volume of customers who will need gasoline/diesel from gas stations.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! That ban sounds crazy, but it may be a sign of the times. Chris tried to see the Ariya today, but apparently there was a mishap with the car so we'll have to wait a bit to get some coverage on that. Thanks for watching, aperxmim!

    It looks a lot better through cameras than real life. It looks like a low crossover irl, almost an SUV with sub-wagon ride height. Just an odd looking vehicle.

    Not a fan of the soccer-mom mustang ev or not. Ford should do what Audi did and use the same platform for an SUV and a GT.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a tough call when you're a volume manufacturer, as opposed to a luxury one, Señor Fil eScott. We assume SUVs and GTs would be more expensive to get mainstream practicality out of and at $60k, the Mach-E is already pushing the boundaries. But those are just our thoughts. We appreciate your comments. They keep us thinking. LOL Thanks for watching!

    Ford has the worst suspension throughout the lineup.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We like the MagneRide suspension, Emmanuel. It seems to work well on their SUVs/crossovers and sports cars. But the suspension on our Mach-E tester definitely could use some work. Hopefully, we'll have better news for you if we ever get to test the performance edition. Thanks for watching!
