Glad to hear Ford will be doing over-the-air updates, like Tesla. To me, this is crucial. These cars are loaded with tech, and the software that actually propels the car is constantly improving. You get up in the morning, and your car runs better than it did yesterday because of an update your car received while you were sleeping. The Chevy Bolt, incredibly, requires a visit to a service center to get a software update.

To pop the glove box, you don’t have to move your hands from the steering wheel or take eyes off road. Just press the voice button on the wheel and say “open glove box”.
@Mark Kahn the reason why Tesla hasn’t seen big improvements in the last 5 years is because they’ve been the only major car company doing it. Once other car manufacturers fully jump in to the EV wagon like Ford and GM, it’s pretty safe to assume that it will cause a chain reaction in the industry that will significantly increase RnD into the technology.
@Mark Kahn considering we used some type of horse transportation for over a thousand years, to driving cars in the early 1900’s, to putting a man in the moon only 50 years later, I think that speaks for itself. If there’s money to be made, organizations are willing to invest millions and billions of dollars to do it. They just have to be convinced about it, which is what we’re witnessing right now with everyone jumping on the EV wagon.
@Mark Kahn the fact that they had a couple design breakthroughs this year and practically eliminated traditional tabs and high cobalt content while increasing capacity, reliability, efficiency and overall range (14+% in the sedan model)in effect does say they are moving forward pretty quickly. They are currently working on another itteration to eliminate cobalt and still increase battery performance. Not 40% quickly but more than likely over a quadruple of that 5% by 5 more years. With the biggest mine deposit of lithium in the world just found nearby (Mexico) close to their Texas/California stations they have more legroom to improve faster.

True that! Also accelerates and corners better than a 60s, 70s, or 80s Mustang. That's not actually saying much since that's true of even modern economy cars compared to old cars, but hey, it's still true.
Those Mustang II as seen in Charlie's Angels in 1977 were decent cars as GTs and Ford marketed them as Mercedes-Benz look-a-likes but they certainly weren't powerful sports cars.
it was fun watching this review. the spontaneous disagreements and little arguments typical of two honest friends (or relatives) being themselves and not afraid of questioning the other made it look natural and enjoyable. almost as if you two were going your normal daily lives and there were hidden cameras. good job, guys!
But like I don’t think it’s gonna matter too much cuz I just call it the Mach-E. The name does matter, what matter is the car itself. If the car is good then it’s good.
The lack of a hanger for satin bowling jackets, no holder for mullet combs, and no spittoon for Skoal means that marketing has written off trade-ins from the 5.0 mafia.
I love the review. While I am closer in age to Roman, I love Tommy's point of view and am definitely sold on the Mach-E. The one thing I wanted to point out that I felt was a downside in the Tesla was the wipers, if you want to up/lower the wiper speed, you have to search for the button on the side panel. On the Ford, it is just a flip away. I personally think this is a safety issue for Tesla. Thank you both so much for the review. I was trying to figure out which suits me better, I am going to go with Tommy and the Ford. Looking forward to your future videos!
I don't think the Thunderbird nameplate should be on an EV. just like the Mustang nameplate don't belong on an EV. those are old nameplates and should be reserved for ultra high performance gasoline vehicles. EVs should have names better fitting vehicles of the future.

I'm interested to see what the first full electric mustang (coupe) will look and drive like. The lack of a heat-pump heater in the Mach E would be a fairly major downside since I live in Canada.
Heat pump in Canada might be debatable. Below 40 F the heat pump efficiency drops rapidly. So at extreme temperatures they are very inefficient and you might as well use an electric heater like the Mach E.
Awesome review guys. You guys Have a great chemistry. Bottom line is no one is going to touch Tesla when it comes to battery technology on EV cars. But glad there are other alternatives to Tesla as well. Just wish the price point was lower like in the mid 20s for base. 40 to 50 grand is a lot of money and there are plenty of other cars I’d rather have being a car enthusiast.
I’ve used summons twice when it was pouring outside. Although it’s extremely finicky and takes sometime to work, with the rest of what self driving does, I find it worth the price. When FSD, door to door, service comes out it will be worth even more.
I take possession jan 11 of my mach e. I just couldn't get a tesla after all the poor reviews. And many other factors. Top reason I got a mach e is the dealership is 2 blocks from my house. Tesla dealership 8 hour drive
I feel you Dylan. I made the decision for the Mach-E for the same reason. I'm just not sure I could buy a Tesla right now - not until Elon gets their QC actually properly working. The very notion of fit & finish issues on a car priced into the luxury segment is simply beyond ridiculous.
I am always amazed at how folks will ignore the fit and finish issues with the Tesla. That is a non- starter for me. Mach E is the first EV I'll consider, outside a luxury brand.
Ford is 100 years old and still has build quality issues and for many one of the worst cars along with GMC and others. Tesla is getting and they changing how to assemble EVs and cars. Tesla will Correct any issues on the most advanced EVs in the world… no comparison! Ford is still using legacy technology with no over-the-air updates its costs huge money to have in-house programmers to stay on top of technology!
Thumbs up for this honest review. You were the only reviewer to say that Tesla cars rattle, and the first to say who cares about a car driving towards you in a parking lot. As for the Mustang, I find those door buttons an exaggerated "futuristic" design. Imagine in a car crash trying to open a bent door. Worse, for living in Canada just forget opening those doors after a freezing rain. I would much rather have cameras replacing the side rear view mirrors - when is the legislation going to change on these ?

Raid shadow legends pays pretty well for there sponsor spots. I would take the money too. They have a business to run, in an expensive city, with a dozen employees.
Tesla’s doors not only freeze up, the windows also freeze up and they won’t go down meaning you can’t open the doors. And that goes for all 4 doors. I have to defrost the car before I can get in. Luckily that can be done remotely.
False.. the door actuator is inside the doors weather stripping.Fordknows how to build car body’s and ice testing they’ve done before Elon was born. So if that’s your only knock, have a great day in the frigid cold.
You can use your phone to open the doors and when they open they pop out. I think I would be more worried about those door actuator handles on the Tesla freezing up. but a phone can be used on it too.
@@Ultrajamz yeah I don't care if interior bits are plastic. If everything was made of aluminum and suede cars would be even more ridiculously priced. As long as the things you touch most feel nice, like buttons, switches and knobs or grab handles feel good.
I SLIGHTLY prefer the Mach-e styling, and the heated steering wheel is something Tesla SHOULD offer, but the Tesla soundly wins everything else that I’d value. No contest.
Experience certainly is a bonus. These brands should even out in the future (along with other brands to come). I don't understand why the interior styling has to be so harsh, while they barely update the exterior styling. Car makers can't get the grille out of their designs for some reason. Teslas could be so much cooler in exterior design, yet they opt to be bland sedans for the most part. The Mustang-E looks like every other crossover on the market for the most part. Get creative, please! As far as options, I can get heated/cooled seats and steering wheel in many cars. Something as forward thinking as electric vehicles should definitely have these options available if not included.
I believe the Model Y's made in China now have a heated steering wheel, so it's likely to come to the US. Like you said though, Tesla definitely wins for pretty much everything that matters (ESPECIALLY charging), but it's great to finally have a pretty good competitor.
Doug Demuro did a review on the Mach-E and he said one of the greatest contrasts is that the Mach-E's fit and finish was light years ahead of the Tesla Model Y.
My issue with Tesla is you can tell they are new to the game, it’s overall a decent product but just a bit off in every way, I really want to see what legacy manufacturers can do, and they sure are catching up quick. Tesla’s exterior design is pretty bad with stale boring blank interiors with only a tacked on screen, Mach-E isn’t much better but still has a good trim and finish to it.
You know, there's actually a lot of valid reasons for them to promote their game on a car channel BUT FIRST A QUICK WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS RAID SHADOW LEGENDS.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not a fan of most of what they integrated into the screen. I don't want to move through menus or misclick something that used to be a simple physical knob.
@JESUS H And how many of those did GM sell and what lasting effect did it provide? Why would any competitors hurry to build something to compete with that kind of success? If a company fail to capitalize on the fact of being first on the market for anything, then it has no one else to blame but itself.

I was going to post the same thing. Yuck yuck, very funny... Tommy’s comments were good for laughs, but entirely misleading for a real car review. Don’t need Apple CarPlay in Tesla. @@hchchc22 Ah, the ole ADM - additional dealership markup. Yea, not paying that either. I believe Ford wanted to or at least attempt to mimic the direct sales model (ala, Tesla, Rivian, etc), meaning no ADM. Unfortunately I've read reports (in forums) of some Ford dealerships, minimally in California, charging ADM on the Mach-E, however, there are many, many other Ford dealerships across the country that are not charging any ADM. I know of one forum maintaining a list of them. As a matter of fact I just returned from my local Ford dealer who is not charging any ADM on the Mach-E. These legacy auto manufacturers with dealership models clearly have a more complicated scenario to work through than those manufactures with true direct sales models. It will be interesting how this plays out over the next few years as more and more legacy auto manufacturers and their dealers pivot to EVs.
An interesting study of all EVs you review would be the impact on range with various numbers of passengers with the driver, I.e., 1, 2, 3 to maximum. Add luggage or other typical traveling/tourist items as well.

It’s kind of to be expected. Tesla is new, they need some experience to get their construction in check. To make up for, they send a technician straight to your door to fix any QC problems for free. They’re currently outright embarrassing other car companies in terms of software and infotainment in general. So I can’t wait for them to get a better grip on manufacturing.
@@jdockii So far they have failed to do so. Other manufacturers have had a lot of time to do software correctly, but so far they’ve failed miserably at doing so. Take the Audi Q5, for example. It has an awkward, small, unresponsive 20Hz display. With a separate pad where you have to DRAW what feature you want the car to use. Or the Mercedes C200, a car I’ve driven a lot. Which also has an awkward 10-20Hz unresponsive display, with bezels that are practically bigger than the actual screen. Not to mention a very dated looking operating system that requires you to BUY a separate SIM card in order to update it. Mind you, that SIM card will cost you well over 150 dollars. To interact, there is an equally unresponsive touch pad and a dial completely separate to the screen. Compared to what Tesla has composed in their short lifespan, the technology that is implemented so far in other big, veteran car brands is just.. An outright embarrassment. If you put the two next to each other, there isn’t even any competition to speak of. Both the Audi and the Mercedes are far better built. They feel like they’re designed and assembled with care, by someone who knows what they’re doing. But their tech? They have a LOT to catch up on in that regard.

In 5 years we’re gonna laugh at the power and range of these two vehicles.
@Mark Kahn I think you’re wrong, with how fast battery and electric innovation is happening it will be soon.

The estimated range on the Ford is actually based on the driving habits of the person behind the wheel, while the Tesla is a best case scenario.
I say this deserves the Mustang name more than the Mustangs built in the late 70's. :)
True that! Also accelerates and corners better than a 60s, 70s, or 80s Mustang. That's not actually saying much since that's true of even modern economy cars compared to old cars, but hey, it's still true.

Heat pump in Canada might be debatable. Below 40 F the heat pump efficiency drops rapidly. So at extreme temperatures they are very inefficient and you might as well use an electric heater like the Mach E.

@@aominoa463 I agree on the technology side. I think other manufacturers will step up and be more competitive in the near future
@@aominoa463 I agree on the most part. But I don’t think that advantages stay that way for too long. Just look at Toyota vs GM. Companies will always adapt to changing markets. I hope Tesla continues to do well but I get the feeling that other companies are going catch up
Must skip, Raid: Shadow Legends.
I drove a Mach e yesterday and was impressed! The only thing that I don't like is the glass roof. I like the single pedal braking and got comfortable with it quickly. Drove all the way home from dinner not having to use the brake once. I hope the rotors don't rust! Ford advantage? Dealers and service. The center display behind the steering wheel makes a big difference where the Tesla's panel looks cheap.
Can't wait to see a comparison of the Mach-E GT to the Performance Model Y. Then it may be apples to apples.
Not with Roman bc the Ford still won’t fart plus they hurt his feelings
@@aron6998 😂😂😂 True
@@MachE_VLOG Model Y is quicker and more fun to drive... Way more range as well.
@@maxou5757 The GT looks to be just as fast as the MY Performance. The Premium AWD ER is just as fast as the MY Long Range. And so far, most reviewers said the Mach-E had better handling and a better ride. And no one knows the real world range yet.
@@MachE_VLOG Well that's not true. They just said in this video that the Tesla has better handling. Real world range when you need a much bigger battery and estimates are already much lower, please.
Ya know, I pay for YT Premium to avoid Fraud: Shadow Feckers adverts, only to constantly get them in gaming videos that I watch, and now on here as well... What the heck guys!
My wife will be deciding between these 2 later this year, and so I'll between the CyberTruck or Rivian to change my F-150.
I'm just happy that in 2021 the comparison between the 2 best electric every-day vehicles is between 2 American car companies.
Ev f150 coning soon
I really hope ford engineers see this video and correct those malfunctions.
It's hard to correct substantial inefficiencies.
