- In this week's vlog we're straight on the move because a) we have a lot of ground to cover and b) I'm looking forward to lunch (this is a common thread it turns out). Join us for a typical cruising day, featuring: heron spotting, a narrowboat admin side quest to a marina and 45 minutes in dreaded Blisworth tunnel - the 3rd longest navigable canal tunnel in the UK. Hope you enjoy coming along for the ride :)

Have a fab weekend everyone 😘I'm planning to sit under my pram cover with a book and a blanket and stew that it's still so cold, you?
Chinese class, cook paella, watch Euros - perfect.
Expecting a sweltering high of 34C next week. Ugh. Book and blanket sound far more enjoyable!
Visiting my ancient mother and taking the dog on a long trail walk. Enjoy…..stay warm. Kathy
Here on Aberdeenshire the temperature has been in single figures this week. Unbelievable for June. Desperate for sun & warmth! Love following your vlogs thank you.
This week I slept with a hot water bottle, so I feel you...
Lovely seeing regular videos from you both. By any standard, the quality of your editing, choice of music and narration is exceptional. Such a unique style and an absolute delight to watch. Channel 4 has nothing on you!!! :D
Ahh thanks so much, it really means a lot! ☺️
That shot of the heron catching the fish is a very rare picture for a Narrow boater to get we’ll done you
Thank you. That shot made my day. I couldn't quite believe I got it, especially with a telephoto lens from a moving boat.
Steering the boat, beautiful videography and accompanying music, running commentary and you still look wonderfully put together! Thanks for posting. You deserve that lunch.
That’s so kind, thank you very much!
Hi, I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year that I’ve been watching your Vlogs right from where I saw you packing boxes in your apartment in London. I’ve enjoyed everyone then and what makes some even better is being able to see Matilda she’s a beautiful girl. Hope the blogs keep coming and keep safe bye.
The hero catching the fish is not just a wonderfully lucky shot but also so well edited with the music. Your stuff should be on tv!
You’re too kind, thank you!!
Cinematic AF. Thank you.
Thank you!! Really appreciate that 🥰
always find your voiceovers so relatable to general boatlife shenanigans 😅
well done 👏🏻♥️
Ahh thanks so much you guys 🥰🥰🥰
It's so lovely to see how far you have progressed and how competent a boat person you now are! So you should feel proud of yourself Kris. Thank you again for another a lovely cinematic blog and beautiful calming narration ❤
Thank you so much!!
Well look at you. Rocking that tunnel like nobody’s business. Well done you! Glad you finally got lunch. See you next time 🦢
Lovely, lovely, lovely. Thanks so much for this Friday evening treat, how you make the tunnel look half fun is beyond me.
Attention to detail and your great use of construct at any given moment relaxes my mind
Thank you very much!
I love your videos the photography in them is just so beautiful , I love autumn as well and the trees along the canal are just so beautiful and that stork diving in the water and catching the fish was just amazing ……good job going the through the tunnel must have been good to get out of it even if it was raining but I love rain .. can’t wait for the next vlog … and congrats on a year on the boat 🥂🍾🎉….. it must just be wonderful to be on the boat to be cruising down the canals going where and stopping when you want so nice … safe travels ❤…… 📚💘📚
Wow that’s the first Narrowboat video of a Herron catching and eating a fish I’ve seen…I’ve been watching them for years nice one Kris great video work and editing.
Full credit to Andrew for getting the cracking heron shot! Thank you ☺️
Oh yeah, I get the visceral claustrophobia thing every so often, and while I can usually distract myself enough, it’s quite stressful keeping it together 😅 congrats on making it through the tunnel and I also really enjoyed the heron content
Again, a visceral account, beautifully captured and sympathetically edited. Well done. Thanks.
Thank you very much, that’s so kind ❤️
Never put lip gloss on when it is windy. Word! You did another tunnel with no problems. YEAH And you got all your chores done. Great work Kris!!! Your story about the MRI and the tunnel was very relatable. Glad Andrew found a VHS tape he liked…I didn’t recognize the title but then I am from the US 😄 Is it me or do all of your videos have a visual reference to Braunston? 🤔 The footage of the heron, and everything else, was amazing. Thank you again for sharing your journey.
😊🤗 Kathy
You made us curious so we looked it up…..cranes straighten out their necks and are bald (no feathers on their heads)…herons have feathers on their heads and pull their necks in making an s shape! So now we know.
Lovely. Love the music too. Curry looked fab. I’m working in Westminster for sky news all weekend so enjoy chilling.
Anything going on in Westminster at the mo? Only joking, must be mad. Bet you’re staying booked and busy! Good!! x
@@krisatomic haha a lot of politics 😀🤦♂️ although trooping the colour is today so taking camera just in case. I’m in studio working on programme called politics hub. Have a great weekend x
That tunnel sequence was epic! Some of those water inlets looked like hot lava.
Crazy isn’t it!
Yes! I’ve been hoping this would drop before I dozed off. Always a treat.
Thank you ☺️ Bit late tonight but better than never 🤓
Boaters are always talking about the type of toilets that are best, it seems to me if I had a boat I’d want a pump out ….unless there’s something I’ve not heard about yet. The only other type might be an incinerator type unless 🫢you have to clean it out by hand scrubbing 😳.
The tunnel would have freaked me out , I’m surprised it wasn’t full of bats which would have sent me hiding inside. I’m a wimp. 🫣, well done you 👍🏼
For my weekend, I’m planning to watch season 3 of Bridgerton if it’s good, doing some gardening and working on making some summer dresses, listening to a book and making some sort of baking to use up bananas that are getting manky.
Happy cruising, hopefully it will warm up soon, it’s finally got warm and sunny here, you can actually watch things green up and grow in a day. 🥰🙋🏼♀️
I’m really intrigued by the incinerator toilet! It does sound like a really good solution. We’re quite happy with our pump out, and we also have a backup elsan so feels like we have best of both worlds haha. I know separator/compost toilets are very popular but I simply draw the line there 😂😂😂
I’ve just started Bridgerton season 2 because I need to catch up before I get into season 3! Very silly fun show.
Superb (like them all). Love the herons, poor little fish!
Nature is so brutal 🥺
To give myself breathing space I delayed checking this one out for three days. Lovely, as always. Had my head in my hands as you admitted wearing lip gloss on a windy day. Maybe you're not perfect after all. Had my first MRI myself today, btw. Noises came in bursts of 14 on occasion. In two different tones. Hallucinogenic dreams. Weird but enjoyable with an open mind. As always the videos are super. Many thanks.
Thank you Brian ❤️ Hope all is well re: the MRI. Take care!
Yes, I too experienced the MRI meltdown several years ago.
It was a totally unexpected reaction, sensation. Incredibly primal feeling of urgency, of fight AND flight.
It was.....horrible, just horrible. Gahh.
I’m so glad that you were relatively ok in the tunnel and able to look around.
This does seem to happen to quite a few people! Sorry you also had that horrible experience 😩❤️
Thank you for another exceptionally fantastic vlog. Canoeists, bow ornaments. Cheers
Oh dear hahah. Thank you!
Your videos are absolutely gorgeous…I love all the beautiful wildlife
Thank you! I really love it too ❤️
makes my saturday morning complete Coffee and kris
☕️☕️☕️
I had the exactly same experience in an MRI recently. I had no idea I struggled with claustrophobia until then. My whole body went into this uncontrollable meltdown, I couldn’t breathe and I un-realistically felt like I was stuck and going to die. I couldn’t stop my body from moving and panicking, nor could I get the panic button to work. Eventually the technician realised something was wrong and I got me out. I couldn’t not do the test, it was a part of a study on Long-Covid. I also needed to know how my brain had been affected. So he explained a few strategies that I could try. With lots of breathing and mental calming I got through the 45 minute long testing. It was absolute hell. It isn’t just that you are in a tight space, it is also the fact that the bed moves you occasionally further into the tunnel and it is incredibly loud. I don’t think I could do it again. Personally I think I would struggle with tunnels as well. So you are brave facing a bigger version of a MRI.
Ahh sorry that you had to go through that, it’s just horrible. Crazy that this seems to be relatively common!
Thanks for another beautiful video and congrats on the top boat driving😁 I’m not sure how I’d feel in those long tunnels but you made it look easy! Here’s to the next year and I hope you get some proper summer soon 🙏☀️🌸
Thank you very much 🥰😘
Fantastic tunnel sequence. That air shaft ❤
Thank you very much! Andrew absolutely smashed it with the air shaft shots, they’re so cool.
Thank You! When I was a kid, the shafts were my favourite part of going through the tunnel. In some ways, that shot was a lifetime in the making. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
Thank you. Your films give me a wonderful sense of quiet, observational joy.
That’s such a lovely comment, thanks so much 🥹
Those shots of the ventilation shafts. I've worked on film projects where by, that's a Directors or Designers wet dream. Blade runner....Ridley Scott....I've worked with the Guy. We spend tens of tens of thousands building sets like that when they could have cruised through a tunnel like that to get there grab
Totally, it's unreal in there! And very cool about Ridley Scott!
A perfect 360 turn, perfect parking, and no bumping the sides in the tunnel. Excellent! Well done that girl, it's time to take off those L plates. Congratulations you've passed.
This evening I watched TV channel 4 , canal diares, well it's nice, but... I much prefer to watch your video / vlogs. You're content is far more interesting, original amusing and the photography is outstanding. Keep them coming.
Cheers Millysue
Randy from California says, "Another great video!"
You are doing so well steering and winding your boat. I wish I could get the courage up to do it but I’m still being a chicken about it! 😊
Kris is doing amazingly! As you know, she's come from being super nervous when we met you to what you see here, and these videos were filmed 8 months ago. I think what we've really learned since getting the boat is that you just need to get out there and do it. If there are bumps and scrapes, don't panic. Nothing to be scared of! Let her inspire you 🙂
@@andrewkendall I should do shouldn’t I. Everyone tells me to just get out there but I’m still scared! You do inspire Kris, be very proud.
We’re rooting for you Wendy! ❤️❤️❤️
I love your vlogs makes my weekend 💗 you will have to do the Llangollen canal it's stunning and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct all the best to you both keep up the great channel ❤🎉🎉
Thanks so much, that’s so lovely to hear! We definitely will do the Llangollen at some point, I’ve heard it’s great in autumn when it’s a bit less busy? Looks so beautiful, and of course the terrifying aqueduct 😅
Carry On Blissworth 😂
❤
Fantastic video work.
Thank you very much! Andrew did a lot of the heavy lifting this episode but I’ll accept the compliment for us both hehe😊
I'm not a fan of the tunnels either! I think you are doing great and we really enjoy watching your vlogs such great photography and videoing skills.
Really appreciate that, thank you!
That sheep was a cow hahaha 😂
hahaha cutting to the sheep would have been too on the nose 😂
Should I watch Germany vs. Scotland or your new vlog? It’s a dilemma!
Between that and the Eras tour it’s a busy night tonight 😂
