Dimash followed this event, with his concert in Dubai, which I was at and he sang S O S live there as he sings it slightly different each time. I don’t think it was live at this fashion event. Dimash has said that venues aren’t always set up for him to sing live but he has many many live performances of S O S. it doesn’t bother me at all,

An exception was his private SOS performance at Emi Gala, where he lip synced to his performance from his Voice China performance -- he wasn't feeling well and had to save his voice for a performance the next day. You can hear some live effects in his New Wave "Stranger" performance, there's some strategic delay and reverb. "Amor En Ti" is another exception, there's multiple recorded Dimashes projected with the real one to sing different parts. There are also several where he sings while sick and still nails it. "Unforgettable Day" he set a highest note in public performance world record (D8) while he was sick, you can see him sweating. One of the lesser viewed performances of Stranger has him so sick they injected steroids into his vocal cords, and he cuts off the held note at the end. He also knelt instead of falling to his knees.

Remember, Dimash has Operatic training, which means he can powerfully project his voice to the far reaches of large Theatres, just the same as in the days long before microphones were invented.

I was never interested in whether Dimash sings live or not, although he does sing live. A miracle does not compromise to sing play back!!! I don't understand why the fans keep asking how he sings, live or not??? Dimash's voice shook the Universe. So, Dimash is a miracle, so his absolute powerful and unshakable presence on stage, compared by some to a god of music, sometimes to a prince or king, the energy he absorbs from the Universe, then how he anchors himself to the Earth, his connection with the Divinity, all at a place, it gives him the strength and confidence to "command the audience, to order the orchestra, to order the song", so that everything comes out the way he wants and how Dimash feels, that is unique. No, this wasn't a live performance for 3 reasons. 1) it was a fashion gala that wasn't equipped for live vocal performances. 2) he had his Dubai concert the next day and 3) he already had some kind of throat problem as he was seen coughing numerous times both before and during the concert. Whether he'd caught a bug or the dry heat of Dubai affected him I don't know but unlike most of his concerts he hadn't shut himself away beforehand but gone out and about to numerous events, mixing with countless people. He definitely wasn't at his best at the concert, he didn't seem at full energy for him, he was better by Dussledorf and absolutely back on top form for Prague.
He was pretty sick in Dubai and tbh I don't think he would have been able to sing very well at the Emigala but even the so called "star of the show" female singer lip-synced and nobody cared

Dimash has a big difficulty to lip sing because he is singing always with the feeling in his present moment and it’s why the same song is often different.
I always thought that this video sounds a lot like the 2021 virtual show. I'm sure he did sing it live for those present, and I am sure he could sing it extremely similarly to previous performances, but the video seems suspect to me.

Now having said all that in my last comment (& meant it), I do think you're still hung up on the syncing issue - as I've said in other comments here, I'm not denying that it happens. But I don't think he's syncing here. He has certain versions of this song where he phrases in one way, then other times where he has an alternate approach - for instance, when he's singing live and he doesn't feel as strong, he'll opt to not do that last glorious climax with the descending run at the end. This is one of the versions where he feels strong, so he magnificently performs every feature of the song at its best. From the run at the end, to going fully down to the low B, which he sometimes opts not to do when feeling weaker on the low end. As far as him moving the mic away, you must remember that this guy has an unheard-of technique, on top of being trained operatically. It's the precision & projection that throws even singers like yourself off. He's known to almost always sing this song live. You said it, you're a pro singer. But as your know, Dimash is not merely a pro singer - so you can't simply use pro singer standards to assess what he's doing. To anyone's knowledge, no one has ever done some of the things he's doing! I've compared any similar renditions (such as the Digital Show, Slavic Bazaar version, etc), the ones where IMO he was feeling stronger & firing on all cylinders, & I definitely heard small differences throughout from similar ones, in this performance. The only common denominator is that they all sound perfect. You also must remember that his sound person is extremely familiar with his music - for instance you will hear that he has a very heavy echo on 1 note, & then the next second it's gone, replaced with a 1 or 2 tap delay. This kind of thing is done on every song with precision, & can definitely give the effect of it being a studio recording. I've stated this before, and no Dears corrected me, so I'm assuming it's correct until someone informs me otherwise - so far as I know, his sound man at the main board is usually his dear longtime friend, Yeflan Bekchurin. en.dimashnews.com/dimash-kudaibergens-sound-producer-received-the-excellence-in-culture-award/ Yerlan is not only Dimash's sound technician, he is also his primary arranger, as in - he's responsible for virtually all the orchestral arrangements in pretty much all of Dimash's music! Imagine having someone like that as your sound guy! He is incredibly precise in controlling the sound of a live show. And whether it's Yerlan on a given night, I have no doubt that whoever is running the sound for any Dimash LIVE performance is impeccably trained to the same superb standard. IMO these are some of the factors that throw off even a lot of pros, & make people suspect syncing when it sounds "too perfect" live. I feel qualified to say all this stuff because I'm not a singer per se, but I've been a musician for over 50 years & a pro for over 40. I've produced projects, led bands, & worked as a sideman many times as well. I play somewhat, & have understanding of other instruments, & have done arrangements and composed a lot of things in various styles. Also thousands of gigs, teaching, etc. So I feel at least qualified to have an educated opinion, lol. But we're both professionals. I just feel like maybe I have a better understanding of Dimash's technique, only because of the amount of time I've been studying him. I'm only saying this pertaining to Dimash, I realize that as a singer, you have much better understanding of vocal technique in general than I. I just really know Dimash!

Remember, Dimash has Operatic training, which means he can powerfully project his voice to the far reaches of large Theatres, just the same as in the days long before microphones were invented.

I was never interested in whether Dimash sings live or not, although he does sing live. A miracle does not compromise to sing play back!!! I don't understand why the fans keep asking how he sings, live or not??? Dimash's voice shook the Universe. So, Dimash is a miracle, so his absolute powerful and unshakable presence on stage, compared by some to a god of music, sometimes to a prince or king, the energy he absorbs from the Universe, then how he anchors himself to the Earth, his connection with the Divinity, all at a place, it gives him the strength and confidence to "command the audience, to order the orchestra, to order the song", so that everything comes out the way he wants and how Dimash feels, that is unique. All these qualities are only at Dimash, absolutely. The goosebumps and hypnosis induced by Dimash are the characteristics of his concerts and appearance on stage, which are shaped by his endless beauty, sometimes translucent, sometimes sensual, sometimes angelic !!! This was the night before his solo concert in Dubai, and he actually had a bit of a sore throat. This was not live, but there was a very valid reason why not.
I also think this is playback. It sounds like his digital show performance of this song playing. Go listen to that i think it's that one playing.

No, this wasn't a live performance for 3 reasons.
1) it was a fashion gala that wasn't equipped for live vocal performances.
2) he had his Dubai concert the next day and
3) he already had some kind of throat problem as he was seen coughing numerous times both before and during the concert.
Whether he'd caught a bug or the dry heat of Dubai affected him I don't know but unlike most of his concerts he hadn't shut himself away beforehand but gone out and about to numerous events, mixing with countless people. He definitely wasn't at his best at the concert, he didn't seem at full energy for him, he was better by Dussledorf and absolutely back on top form for Prague.
He was pretty sick in Dubai and tbh I don't think he would have been able to sing very well at the Emigala but even the so called "star of the show" female singer lip-synced and nobody cared

He originally sang this version in 2021 at his Digital concert during the virus lockdown. I became a "Senior Dear" in 2019 when I saw the video of Dimash singing SOS at the contest in China in 2017. Dimash has a big difficulty to lip sing because he is singing always with the feeling in his present moment and it’s why the same song is often different.
I always thought that this video sounds a lot like the 2021 virtual show.
I'm sure he did sing it live for those present, and I am sure he could sing it extremely similarly to previous performances, but the video seems suspect to me.
Honestly, this looks like someone dubbed a different live performance. However, sometimes has no control over venues demand.

But you are right: SOS appeared to be the most natural one. On the other hand it was too perfect to not be a studio recording. Not that Dimash is bad but you can still hear it when he sings live.

Now having said all that in my last comment (& meant it), I do think you're still hung up on the syncing issue - as I've said in other comments here, I'm not denying that it happens. But I don't think he's syncing here. He has certain versions of this song where he phrases in one way, then other times where he has an alternate approach - for instance, when he's singing live and he doesn't feel as strong, he'll opt to not do that last glorious climax with the descending run at the end. This is one of the versions where he feels strong, so he magnificently performs every feature of the song at its best. From the run at the end, to going fully down to the low B, which he sometimes opts not to do when feeling weaker on the low end. As far as him moving the mic away, you must remember that this guy has an unheard-of technique, on top of being trained operatically. It's the precision & projection that throws even singers like yourself off. He's known to almost always sing this song live. You said it, you're a pro singer. But as your know, Dimash is not merely a pro singer - so you can't simply use pro singer standards to assess what he's doing. To anyone's knowledge, no one has ever done some of the things he's doing! I've compared any similar renditions (such as the Digital Show, Slavic Bazaar version, etc), the ones where IMO he was feeling stronger & firing on all cylinders, & I definitely heard small differences throughout from similar ones, in this performance. The only common denominator is that they all sound perfect. You also must remember that his sound person is extremely familiar with his music - for instance you will hear that he has a very heavy echo on 1 note, & then the next second it's gone, replaced with a 1 or 2 tap delay. This kind of thing is done on every song with precision, & can definitely give the effect of it being a studio recording. I've stated this before, and no Dears corrected me, so I'm assuming it's correct until someone informs me otherwise - so far as I know, his sound man at the main board is usually his dear longtime friend, Yeflan Bekchurin. en.dimashnews.com/dimash-kudaibergens-sound-producer-received-the-excellence-in-culture-award/
Yerlan is not only Dimash's sound technician, he is also his primary arranger, as in - he's responsible for virtually all the orchestral arrangements in pretty much all of Dimash's music! Imagine having someone like that as your sound guy! He is incredibly precise in controlling the sound of a live show. And whether it's Yerlan on a given night, I have no doubt that whoever is running the sound for any Dimash LIVE performance is impeccably trained to the same superb standard. IMO these are some of the factors that throw off even a lot of pros, & make people suspect syncing when it sounds "too perfect" live. I feel qualified to say all this stuff because I'm not a singer per se, but I've been a musician for over 50 years & a pro for over 40. I've produced projects, led bands, & worked as a sideman many times as well. I play somewhat, & have understanding of other instruments, & have done arrangements and composed a lot of things in various styles. Also thousands of gigs, teaching, etc. So I feel at least qualified to have an educated opinion, lol. But we're both professionals. I just feel like maybe I have a better understanding of Dimash's technique, only because of the amount of time I've been studying him. I'm only saying this pertaining to Dimash, I realize that as a singer, you have much better understanding of vocal technique in general than I. I just really know Dimash!

Even his “live” performance in Almaty 2022 is not quite right.. It’s the Olympic vocalisation that is hard to perform live,, during a 3 hour concert.. I’m not a huge fan of this version in particular. You should check out Dimashs 2021 version of SOS from his digital show:) It’s the live version of this song. He’s lip syncing this performance, but it’s still his voice ofc 😃

In Sos Slavic bazar it is put on auto tune after..not by Dimash.
@@Jane.S600 Not onlt the Gala is lipsync, You can see it's a lipsync as Slavic Bazzar from comparing the overall sound quality which is a studio quality. the low notes are too rich for Dimash (he never give those rich low notes in live performances, especially not in the 2nd time after the break).
