    The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are oriental Arab technique (or traditional qazaq singing, called Joqtaw. It is a lament to the deceased singer). The last run is 24 seconds on 1 breath.

    It is my understanding that when Dimash was five years old he played at a piano recital and was accompanied by his very loved grandmother. When he finished she presented him a bouquet of roses.

      bc the music industry esp in US is corrupt. Dimash knows that and its why he's careful. As an independent self funding artist its much easier for him to negotiate terms with producers. but there are many anecdotal evidence of musicians who've been burnt by record companies.

    To date Dimash has fiercely defended his creativity and independence---which is why he has wisely avoided connecting with music labels in the West. He does dream, however, of winning a Grammy someday, which is why I think he has been spending so much time in Los Angeles lately rubbing shoulders with some of the best music producers in the business.

      @@GaryDouglas-lj5bz that's your interpretation of course. he talked about the grammy years ago and hasn't mentioned it since, instead shifting focus to more philanthropic work. ofc its normal to show enthusiasm in a social setting, courtesy matters. With his character and ambition however I very much doubt that America appeals as a potential market for him but he'll give it a go for his US Dears. As he's often said, most of his promos are being done by the dears. His biggest fan base is in China. Larger Population. Even if the US liked his work, its still a drop in the bucket, testimony to his global following. A grammy at this juncture after the US tvshow that tried to screw him over> not happening. Dimash has morphed into a much more savvy businessman thanks to the shadiness of the music industry. His being in the US now is purely study and work, the priority being to deliver on prior business arrangements. If the grammy is on the table trust me he'll be eyeing it with caution and won't compromise. The American experience with TWB was a good lesson,

  • @alariepoet8015
    @alariepoet8015 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    I think his lack of success in the West is precisely because he's from Kazakhstan, and because the U.S. pop music scene is too controlling, much as Sony retracted their prize of a recording contest for Pentatonix. They want everyone to sound much the same. Dimash is intent on maintaining his one man who can do anything style. The pandemic also worked havoc on his engagements. Now, though, he is making a base in LA to make himself better known to the mainstream music giants. A lot of people complained early on about his thickly accented English, but he's becoming more fluent and improving enunciation at an amazing rate. His Dears love his multilingual repertoire, but that doesn't go over as well in the Be Like Me U.S. He only made it big (overnight) in China by performing on TV. His one U.S. competition broke faith with his contract agreement not to compete with children. It's cool that the Chinese Dimash Fan Club bought him video space in Times Square.

    The part that sounded digitally altered, is known as a goat trill. I’m sure it has other names, too. You will hear this technique in many middle eastern singers. The Kazakh people are primarily descended from Turkic nomads. As such, they have a lot of middle eastern and Asian influences. They also have a sizable minority of Slavic people. This creates a mix of many cultural influences.
    The goat trill is created by quickly moving back and forth between two registers. While Dimash, and many talented singers, are capable of changing registers without it being obvious, people doing this trill technique will actually lean into that normal break you hear when changing registers, and then do it over and over, very quickly.

    For those who like information about Dimas' songs:
    Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. Moreover, in the final part he added, with an oriental technique (from the Kazakhstan region). The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band name is A'Studio (Kazakh pop music group based in Russia, "Alma-Ata Studio", Almaty city). The dead singer (who Dimash was a fan of) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poetess Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the long-haired keyboardist, who we see in the video that accompanies Dimash.
    Hugs from Brazil!

    My understanding is that Igor Krutoy himself suggested that Dimash contact David Foster in LA in early 2023 to determine how to best approach the American audience. This is the result a song Dimash wrote and sang in Hong Kong December 2023 as a result. I believe he spent several months in LA also meeting with filmographers to learn more. Once they were “hooked” within American style mv Americans and others who have not been aware of him would explore and find his creative artistry, music, vocals, and filmography.

    If nobody has told you this yet he is doing that sound live, it's a style of singing used in parts of Asia and the middle east especially Turkey almost akin to a yodel. This technique is known for its use of microtonality, or the use of notes that are not found in the Western scale, as well as its use of glottal stops, or the sudden closing of the vocal cords to create a sharp, percussive sound. Additionally, this technique often includes the use of melisma, or the singing of several notes on one syllable, and the use of vibrato and yodeling.

    I always thought that the ending of this song seemed incomplete, as though there were more notes to come but he didn't have time to do them. He did another version of this song in 2019 (on an atmospheric red-lit stage) and he does a little ad-lib at the end. Finally the song felt complete to me. Not only that, he has a little bit of attitude in that performance which I find really sexy. I'm a 67 yr old Dear - but age has no meaning when you are listening to (and watching) Dimash 🔥😍🤣🤣🤣

    The strange vibrato is part of folk music over near Turkey and the middle east, including Kazakhstan. It used to show up in European classical music a few hundred years ago as Trillo or goat-trill. I think you have to master repeated yodeling first, then you do it faster, but instead of popping up through the glottal barrier to the upper range, you bounce back down off of the glottal barrier, sort of like a trampoline jumper with an extra trampoline 6 feet above him.
    Anyways, it is used in Turkic folk music mostly in funeral laments, which is the context in this song, both immediately as a lament for the supposedly doomed romance, but also figuratively for the late former singer of this band, A-Studio.

I suppose I'm technically a dear even though I balk at being a part of named fan groups. I've been a fan of Simash since March 2017, I've seen him live twice, and I have collected all of his music. Despite the fact he's only released one physical album (which could be a hint at why he isn't more widely known). If you haven't already listened to his cover of Lional Richie's Hello, I strongly recommend it.

    Make sure you listen to Ave Maria by Dimash. It is my favorite of all his songs. I listen to it every day, because every time I do, I can feel the Spirit move within me. He is a gift from Heaven.

    He has reached. a d8 which is off the piano keyboard,, he does not keep himself in a specific genre, he has covered vocalists such as Celine Dion , Queen, Russian singer who did Opera 2,who forbid him to do it again because .people all felt he did it better

    It's not a digital effect. It's a type of throat singing. Dimash has done it in other songs too. BTW, love your reaction!

    I'm a Dear.
    That sound with his throat is eastern yodeling. Dimash does that as normally as speaking.
    You should react to his Masterpiece "The Story of One Sky".

    You've probably been told by now but that vibrato like yodely thing is a technieque from kazakstan and that region- thats why you'd not see it in western singers- he has arabic singing styles within his traditional singing - you like that sound you hear in muslim voices calling people to prayers from mosks - i forget what its called.

  • @Samaltau_Kuhn
    @Samaltau_Kuhn ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello my friend, you can see another version from his concert in Moscow, this is a fancam, you will appreciate the movements he does in that arabic -yodeling part:
