- Been a while since a teaching video guys! Some people have asked about my technique on the piece I posted of me playing 12 string so I figured I'd share with you guys where I got it and what it is. Let me know what you think and if you've tried to learn this piece at all!

Hey Tim. Great video. I have a 50 plus year old Washburn my wife bought me when I returned from overseas when I was in the army. I also have a Martin and a Taylor. That Martin you are playing is a good one. My younger brother has one and since he is an accomplished Luthier that means a lot. In past videos I thought your style was kind of like Mark Knopfler and now I can see the John Mayer influence. Keep up the good work! Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on you tube.
Still playing my 30 year old HD28 my wife gave to me a few years after we got married. Sweeter with time, the guitar too. Thanks for making time to do these videos, there is always something to learn and I love the vicarious feeling I get watching. Cheers Tim
Such a beautiful piece! Thanks for the lesson on the right hand technique. Thats gonna take a bit of practice. 😊
Can’t wait to give this a try! Currently using my Faith Venus Bloodmoon ⚡️
At 11:14min love what ur doing - good shit dude - groovin pocket - left and! right hand - digin it . I wanna hear that in a Trio in a session recorded.
Off subject - that is one organized closet behind you.
love your videos tim. thanks for creating.
Great Lesson, Tim
Great playing, great video. Thanks Tim!
"A Guitar?" Who has just one? I'm downsizing for a move, but the two acoustics I'm keeping are the Legend Guitar Company dread (a few guys from Larrivee started their own co, but then it went belly-up) and a Collings OM2H custom deep body. The two I'm parting with are the Takamine Santa Fe and EF-349.
We Banjo players use those pluck and down strokes continuously. Like on the Banjo you've created a percussive sound as well. You've transfered the Claw Hammer basics of Banjo to the Guitar. I do it occasionally myself when I'm on Guitar. Claw Hammer messes with your head till you establish the rhythm. Sounds wonderful on an Acoustic 12 string also. Late great Pete Seeger had a beautiful large body baritone 12 string Acoustic Guitar that would warm you from your nose to your toes! He used similar techniques like the ones you demonstrate here. I completely enjoy your videos Tim. All of them on such a wide range of topics related to Guitar and music.Peace.
Thanks for showing this finger technique. You make it look easy, but I know it’s not. I’m gonna try it anyway! Playing on my Baby Taylor guitar.
Nice! Very cool 😎 video today.
I just got an acoustic guitar to try out.
I’m an electric guitar, 5 string bass and baritone guitar player.
I have my squire strat that I still need to learn to play on
Great stuff, Tim! I’ve got an 06’ 000-16CGTE that I’ll never part with. Playing any other acoustics feels like I’m cheating lol!
You're so talented.
Thank you so much!!
Great tunes, Tim! Would love to hear them finished up. I’m playing an older Takamine SW341SC Steve Wariner signature model. Great old guitar. She’s sick now. At the doctors for a checkup/tuneup/setup.
Great playing as always. I actually have two acoustics. A seagull s6 and Larrivee OM-05
Thank you, love that! Both Great companies!
Nice lesson, thank you. I have a Yamaha Thin Line and a Taylor GS Mini. Both nice guitars but I am really interested in a Yamaha Acoustasonic. I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on them.
I have three acoustics. An old Washburn D28s ( looks like a Martin HD 28 ) from the late 70's early 80's. , A Tacoma Jumbo from 2009 and a Yamaha APX600 from 2016 I think. It's not good unplugged but pretty great as a stage guitar; which is why I got it.
It's got a little August Rush, feel about it.
?? What gauge of strings do you use on both electric and acoustic guitars?
You certainly have a command of this instrument 😊
Thank you very much!
I still havent fully figured out the stop this train picking pattern lol. recently been working on the new Zach Bryan/Mayer song, its killer
It's a hard patter no doubt! And that new song is awesome!!
I’m trying to retrain my right hand after not picking up finger style acoustic for fairly long time. Do you practice it a little every day to keep your thumb isolated for bass notes.
I did at one point, I dont consistently practice it now just because I've done it so much, but at first that is really important!
Tim….as always…thanks. Quick question. If you write something does it belong to you or is it become a shared creation with Lanco? I’m guessing you have some kind of written agreement with the band and wasn’t sure if intellectual property/creations were a part of that deal.
Martin 000-28
Heck yeah!!
Tim. But it would sound better w u playing the 000 28. Ck out 2 of my songs on you tube. Just search Alan Winn 1) you’re not home. 2)Carefree. Don’t listen to the should I tell her. Mix is terrible
Hey Tim, I’m playing a Martin D28, better guitar than my skill level!
Thats a fantastic instrument!
Hey Tim! Who is the band playing for the Republican National Convention from Nashville? Playing a lot of great covers, "We're an American Band." "Takin' It To The Streets," "Won't Back Down " .....
I’m not sure!
Dude, one of those shoes is out of line, just sayin
Tough to watch the kid go downhill like that…lol.
You officially get the award for GAYEST youtube vid title with this one. Hope it has a happy ending!😂😂😂
