- Got A John Mayer vid for you guys today and working with the CAGED System! A lot of this is how I think about the fretboard and I wanted to share a little of that with you guys. Let me know what you think and if any of this is helping you. Hit the like if you enjoyed it and more to come!

Thanks for your breakdown, great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Just a bass player using Tim's knee as a metronome to practice Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.
Tim, just went to the PRS website & learned that Myles Kennedy plays a PRS. I didn't know that. I love Myles as a vocalist but to be honest when he plays guitar which is usually with Alter Bridge, I've never noticed his guitar. Def respect Myles opinion. So, if he thinks they're great & so does John Mayer, they must be good!
Thanks so much for sharing your insights into moving around the fretboard! Man, I've really GOT to get that thumb-over position working. You've got me sold!
Great video brother thank you! Subscribed!
Your tone is amazing throughout this entire video. Really really good!
Thank you so much! Love that set up!
Really well explained, and your touch and tone are something I can try to emulate in order to improve my own playing. Thank you Tim.
Such an insightful lesson, I love this type of content from you
This was really awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the beautiful insight into your thinking!
Great lesson, and such a cool melody / progression. Thank you!
You’re an excellent teacher, Tim. Thank you
Great stuff! I appreciate the thoughts behind what you are playing vs just “play this lick”. Super helpful!
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your page. Loving all the information about Nashville and really enjoy the one on one rambling that you do in your videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for that! It just so happens this is exactly where i am at the moment. Going past memorizing the shapes. I thought i knew the fretboard but that’s where i need to level up so i can put this to use. Thanks and keep it coming
Good stuff, brother. Thank you
Thanks Tim! This is exactly the kind of stuff that will get me playing guitar for the next 4 hours. 💙✌
Really nice vid and explanation. Thank you.
Excellent stuff. Where I'm at in my guitar education is starting into bar chords with CAGED mapping in mind. I sit around and do different scale patterns all the time, but never considered moving melodic parts up the neck into different shapes. I feel like this is going to help me a lot in mapping individual notes along the fretboard, based on the triads used -- like three birds with one stone. These videos have been amazing, and I'm very grateful to have stumbled on them.
This was super helpful!!!!!!!!!!! Perfect lesson!!
Very tasteful stuff there brother
Great lesson for me. Thanks Tim
Thank you, I’m glad it was helpful!

Excellent teaching style Tim. Very personable, like I’m jamming with a buddy. I’ve delayed learning the caged system for years. For whatever reason your sharing style clicked. I’m a fan! Thanks

Thanks Tim, this was great. I need to work more on the right hand fingers to pluck those strings and sure would like any tips on holding your pick while doing that also.
Thanks Tim!
Awesome🎻🤠

Bro! Absolutely awesome! I recently started getting io the caged system and chord tone targeting. YOU helped me realize that I didn't have to use the entire shape. It makes perfect sense. I don't have FB or instagram, but would gladly pay for a lesson with you.
Dude awesome to hear this, I’m glad I could help! If you can give another way for me to get in contact with you I can set up a lesson!
I know a John Mayer is coming when I see you have that silver sky! HAHHA
Can you explain what it means to be a "PRS Artist",,,,,I would be really interested to know what all that means. Thanks Tim - Awesome Stuff.!!
I’m 60!years old. Been playing since I was 14. I have was watched hundreds of videos on the caged system and still have no idea what the caged system is
Thanks, Tim…if you haven’t checked him out yet, you should definitely check out Patrick Droney. Same vibe and style as what you just explained here.
