Huge RLM fan, and I'm ashamed that I've only just heard about this channel, and my sadness is further amplified knowing this channel no longer creates content. Just happy I've got hours of Rich and Jack on here to get me through.
Found out PreRec did streams on Twitch- so I excitedly scheduled a reminder for their next stream, tuned in from the very beginning countdown, and they start the stream by announcing that they are ending the channel. It was sad.
Every multiplayer game in a nutshell. Developers have to start designing their games taking the asshole factor into consideration. That's what we need in RL too...
Broken Nose Media That's why I don't play games online. I'm probably almost as old as Jack and Rich, and grew up with offline games that gave you more control over all the variables. Playing online games where you're dependent on others for your enjoyment feels too inconsistent. Single player game WOULD improve sales a lot
+Rafael As long as there are discrete game sessions with few enough players for each person to get a "read" on the others then a rating system will work - sure this doesn't work for huge games like PUBG but it is tractable for most games. The trouble is balancing the punishment for poor ratings so you are bringing in more players by having a good community than you are losing because they've been identified as ass-holes.
For keeping players interested if they die early, the game could expand the Tommy Jarvis-style mechanic but to include a few local police. In the films, occasionally the survivors manage to get in contact with the local police, so you could have a feature where, if the players manage to contact the local sheriff, they'll send out two-three officers (the next few players who die).
Gimme at least 3 weathers for every level. - Snow: Makes cars harder to drive and to start - Hot summer night: Some electrical things dont work because of overheating
#3 Canada Level starts. We all drop dead from frostbite, Jason included. Or Jason puts on the Pads, gets a stick and we decide things with a pick-up game, on the frozen Crystallized Lake! New Jersey Devils Vs. The Eastern Hockey league team that Jason sees on the Billboard in Manhattan! "MEET THE COMPETITION!!!" The other Goalie, Ken Kursinger's Jacket Jason! Cheers from Canada P.S. Sticks and Skates can (& should) be legally used as weapons! Fighting? Yes Please ;)
If I recall correctly they didn't actually get the rights before making the game so after getting sued they stopped all development. Total shame, this game was tits
No, we need Scientist Man to explain the Friday the 13th film timeline. That's 20 to 30 minutes worth of material of jokes to poke at with the franchise
I think they should weight the Jason chances based on finishing matches, if you quit before the match starts, or leave the server from an early death you drastically cut your chances of being Jason.
devs should throw in an in-game shop with purchasable tokens that increase your chance of being Jason for the next match. would help fund their work too
I spotted it and got excited, although then I reasoned that it's with the BotW films... Maybe they don't know it's satire / parody? Could be someone sent it in and they've not seen it yet.
The player base consisting of assholes only playing to troll is the problem of EVERY multiplayer game. That's why I stopped playing multiplayer altogether and why I hate more and more studios jumping onto the lazy multiplayer train (emergent gameplay instead of crafted content) and leaving single player behind.
1. More Maps 2. More varied maps 3. Fix bugs 4. Punish quitters and hackers 5. Have more ways the counselors can win...make killing Jason easier (still tough, but currently it's basically impossible without cheating. How about - damage Jason enough to know off mask. Stun Jason (wearing sweater is auto-stun with his mask off). Machete or axe kills stunned Jason if you hit his head area.). Make counselors running out the clock a real possibility. Add other ways they can survive/win.
maybe in addition to tommy jarvis or w/e you can also call an FBI agent for help and maybe there's a bunch of weird demonic stuff you can find to summon Freddie Kruger
The survival part seems "cool", but the Jason part is unhealthy as you play a one-dimensional sadistic murderer on his guts quest. I couldn't do that! I survived Left4Dead undead legions, dammit!
2 years later looking back at this is pretty interesting. A lot of the complaints, like the bugs and the toxic players, are still a problem. But they have improved the variety with maps and single player, and added some features that were asked for like keybinding. And btw, it really hurt when they mentioned Jason X. It brought back my disappointment. I felt that in my soul.
A better point for sticking around after you die, hijacking on what jack said would be acting as the surviving players 'instinct'. As in the movies, the longer you stick around, generally the more competent the character is, the ones that survive longer can get some kind of an idea of where jason is or where an item is if the dead players can find it on the map and mark it, with instict being a usable resource on a cooldown for the surviving players.
What Jack talks about is actually in a number of asymmetric games like this. I forget the game but the sequal just came out and you a literally a helpful spirit.
Rich, that Spidey New York shirt is AMAZEBALLS. I like that it's two fold a Spider-Man shirt (unabashedly, I might add), AND a touristy New York shirt. Rock on.
"Needs a mic" Yeah, it's a team game. People who've played team games with even half a sense of seriousness acknowledge that you need a mic; it's a barrier to entry even before you figure out if you lucked out and got a team who knows what they're doing (or has half a brain). It's part of the genre, and when it works out, the game feels awesome. But when it doesn't, it really doesn't.
In very early versions of counterstrike a bug in the game inadvertently let you be a helpful ghost after you died in the round. Ghosts could noclip fly around the map, but still open doors by walking through them. In one of the more popular maps there was a popular sniping spot on top of a roof where your back was protected since you could hear a visible grate rattle when someone opened the door to sneak up on you - unless, of course, a dead player ghost was constantly rattling that grate all the time.
Things n' Stuff Everybody talkin 'bout their mics like they got something to say but nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of jibberish. Mothrefukres act like they forgot about AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIDS!
1:07 "Peter Jackson's KING KONG: The Official Game Of The Movie" is by far the best video game based on a movie but this is also great... and Total Recall :P

Your gameplay of this game has been some of the best entertainment I have seen. I hate streaming views, but your guys, particularly with Jay, participation with this game is GREAT!
Imagine an alien game like this where the players either get killed and turned to eggs/face hugger or taken by the player and turned to less mature aliens. That'd be great fun and there'd be no waiting when dead
This game is a lot of fun as long as people play it as if they actually were in a Friday the 13th movie. Try to survive, but not with exploits or boring, cheap tactics.
I never really got what Jason's weakness was. About half the movies end with Jason shrugging off a couple injuries before getting stabbed in the forehead, and the other half begin two minutes later, where it turns out stabbing Jason's head makes him take naps. He shrugged off five direct shotgun blasts, but knife wounds cause him to lie down just long enough for the hilariously fucked paramedics to load him onto an ambulance. I wish there was a Friday the 13th movie where they just cut off Jason's thumbs and kept them in their pocket. That way, Jason can come back all he wants it'll just be a shameful purgatory where he has to awkwardly co-exist with the camp counselors he can no longer murder.
This is what is wrong with early access. Everybody who is really interested in this game is already playing it in it's broken state. BY THE TIME this game is stable enough to be glitch and crash free and is ready for the general public, MOST people will have moved on to something else. The install base will be less than 30% when the game is finally FINISHED. The sad reality is, to get the best experience with an early access multiplayer game, you HAVE to play it in it's "as is" state, to have any fun with it... and that sucks.
Luke Gillespie I agree. He has a wife and kids. Compared to the other 4. He looks alien for that. And he smiles and laughs. I think they all drink the same. So that's nice.
There's a large contigent of us who don't play these games. It's interesting to check them out in a video but I'd never pay for this broken garbage. Early access and other broken shit is what gamers deserve since they continue to pay for it like suckers.
Never would have figured I'd hear anything positive about this game. I remember hearing about how buggy this game was so I was quick to write it off. Sounds like a pretty convincing case for trying it out now.
You guys would LOVE Space Station 13. You play as part of a space station crew tasked with fulfilling certain roles on the station, such as researching new technology, creating medicine to keep the crew alive, repairing and upgrading the station's systems, making mechs and cyborgs and even ploicing other players! Like Friday the 13th, the game is entirely multiplayer. The only NPCs are dangerous aliens and monsters, and you can even play as those sometimes! There's usually only one map on each server, but they're entirely user-run servers so theres often variety in each map. I have personally sprited a certain item that now appears on several servers. Every round, a few players are given certain antagonist roles based on the number of players in the server; such as a saboteur, changeling (think the creature from The Thing), Xenomorph and Space Wizard! You have so many options on how to complete these objectives, from social manipulation, stealth and even just rambo-tier brute force. Best of all, it's FREE on PC. Granted the platform it's on, Byond, is antiquated as hell and is full of spaghetti code, but it will run on pretty much anything. I really hope you guys give it a go!
I think dead players being able to help their teammates via ghost abilities would be a decent gameplay idea to give dead players incentive to stick around, even if they die at the beginning of a match. Being a silent spectator with mild abilities would make being dead a lot more tolerable I'd imagine. Perhaps players could accumulate ghost points, gained over time by just staying in the match whether they are dead or alive. (Living players accumulate ghost points while alive, so that when they die they'll have points to use as well.) Maybe you get bonus ghost points if you do useful things when you're alive, so if you die after being helpful you are then able to be more helpful than if you died doing nothing. Abilities would cost points & have cooldowns so as to not be overpowered. The points can then be spent to give quick, temporary buffs to other players to mainly help them escape Jason, or as Jack said, to help them find items & such. Maybe a dead player with enough points accumulated can give a teammate a slight shove or boost in speed, to help them run away faster. Or maybe help calm a player who is full of fear for a short time. Or maybe give them a little extra health to survive being attacked. Or maybe dead players can also mash the escape button, so when Jason grabs someone, dead players give the living player a slightly better chance of escaping his grasp. Plenty of things the devs could do to make being dead an OK part of the experience too.
The best videogame adaptation of a movie by far? A bold claim with the likes of Rare's *Goldeneye* or Rockstar's *The Warriors* and Terminal Reality's *Ghostbusters* in the running.
The Warriors is one of the best one's for sure. Goldeneye was awesome back in the day but i played it recently and eh....it's not great. Don't ruin your nostalgia by playing it again.
Serpico's Beard - I was thinking more historically speaking regarding Goldeneye. It's 20 years old now after all, it was never going to hold up forever. ricemazter - Oh yeah, Spider-Man 2 was pretty good.
When Rich was talking about walking up and over the hill I was thinking: he's found the stairway to heaven! Who else but the man with the angelic laugh could do that? XD
As someone who backed the game, I thought it was going to be alright, get like 10 - 20 hours out of it, then move on. I'm now at 125 hours in and deeply regretting I didn't hit the Savini Jason skin reward level. Correction, games are 20 minutes long, not 15, and it's super doable to survive for 20, but doesn't happen often unless the Jason player is not very good.
1:07 that's just straight up bullshit, Jack. You can't say that in the world where The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay and The Warriors exist
Jack's idea about being a ghost at 23 minutes was pretty solid. Exactly the kind of mechanic that exists in Among Us, which was released like a year after this video.
I enjoyed this game so much. Some of the issues discussed have been improved on, but it can still be a frustrating experience. The key is to find a group to play with although I think the developers have now in 2023 lost the licence to the game and there will be no more updates. I’m not even sure if you can buy it anymore. If the guys still played the game I would play with them in a heartbeat
Jack talking about developers forcing games to be an experience, then goes and streams Phoenix Wright, a game which is closest to a visual novel where you just see events unfold.

I’ve been rewatching these for years. I really hope Jack and Rich can pick this back up in some form when they’re a bit less busy, if they want to
great game, but it needed like 3-4 months more to fix the bugs and make more maps
Rich is starting to understand multiplayer games; "It's easy if you have a good team & you have a mic. There are assholes too"
Are we living in the END TIMES?
No, the end times will be if Mike starts playing and enjoying games.
Every multiplayer game in a nutshell. Developers have to start designing their games taking the asshole factor into consideration. That's what we need in RL too...

Nowadays the major problem with this game is the lawsuit that forces the devs to cancel all updates and close the servers.
Add in Jason X, Space levels, then make a Freddy Vs Jason DLC, and add in Rich Evans as a character, thanks.

I think they should weight the Jason chances based on finishing matches, if you quit before the match starts, or leave the server from an early death you drastically cut your chances of being Jason.
SheezyBites that's a excellent idea dude. you need to have a "chance to be jason counter" and it gets lower when you quit

It’s still so weird how at the 23.30 mark Jack comes up with the idea for Among Us
I think dead players being able to help their teammates via ghost abilities would be a decent gameplay idea to give dead players incentive to stick around, even if they die at the beginning of a match.
A Time For Wolves
Don't forget Spider-Man 2.
Serpico's Beard - I was thinking more historically speaking regarding Goldeneye. It's 20 years old now after all, it was never going to hold up forever.
ricemazter - Oh yeah, Spider-Man 2 was pretty good.
X-men origins wolverine that was also pretty good.
Better than the film TBH.
2:28 Jason is an unstoppable murder machine - tru to the source material
When Rich was talking about walking up and over the hill I was thinking: he's found the stairway to heaven! Who else but the man with the angelic laugh could do that? XD
As someone who backed the game, I thought it was going to be alright, get like 10 - 20 hours out of it, then move on. I'm now at 125 hours in and deeply regretting I didn't hit the Savini Jason skin reward level. Correction, games are 20 minutes long, not 15, and it's super doable to survive for 20, but doesn't happen often unless the Jason player is not very good.
Rich evans going nuts in the end is epic:)!
1:07 that's just straight up bullshit, Jack. You can't say that in the world where The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
and The Warriors exist
Butcher Bay is like the Jesus Christ of movie video games, singlehandedly redeeming the sins of its entire genre.
Panodphantion also Golden Eye and Spider-Man 2
@Jack Meadows speak for yourself ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Don't forget about X-Men Origins Wolverine and The Punisher
You forgot the Ghostbusters videogame too
Jack's idea about being a ghost at 23 minutes was pretty solid. Exactly the kind of mechanic that exists in Among Us, which was released like a year after this video.
37:20 Stanima. It's the new stragedy. Oh Richard.
I liked this show
"Give me a Jason X DLC with some spaceship maps." Rich Evans predicts Among Us in 2017.
There is 35 videos in this playlist. Now I watch them all.
Literally everything they said to fix or add they did. God damn wizards over here
Teleporting does explain him being everywhere despite never seeing him run.
Great episode guys, really enjoyed the in depth discussion on this one!
Are the Nukie tapes multiplying?
One day every movie will be Nukie.
2:15 and I am screaming at the screen "asymmetrical, Rich!" Like you can or care to hear me. Good job guys.
I GOTTA FEVA! AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE PREVIOUSLY RECORDED!!!!!
Bring this back!!
Jack talking about developers forcing games to be an experience, then goes and streams Phoenix Wright, a game which is closest to a visual novel where you just see events unfold.
Man growing up in the woods as a child in the 80s and being exposed to these films has ledt me permanently freaked out by jason
