Excellent review; good video quality/lighting and sound. But you earned your Thumbs Up at "I usually stop around the deep end of the pool". 😂 (As do most of us).
I had this watch two years. Every time when I see this watch somewhere I'm thinking that watch is SPOT ON, and love every aspect. But when I put it in my wrist, it didn't look good. Finally sold that and bought SPB381.
The SPB381 is a watch that iam eyeing for a long time, i really like the green dial. What's the size of your wrist, i thing that watch is quite large for most people
Thanks for the video, nice quality shots. If I could give some feedback though - the title and intro of the video asks whether the watch is still relevant in 2024 especially relative to the newer 62MAS releases, but you don’t really spend any time on those questions. The stuff you do cover is useful, but not much different than what was in the reviews back in 2022 when this watch came out. It would be worth comparing the pros and cons of the 143 compared to the 453 especially in terms of price point, now that you can find good discounts or used versions of the 143 on the market.
Thank you for your feedback, i really appreciate it, it helps me make better content. For me, the 143 is better version and the only reason i didn't go into detailed comparison with the newer model is because i haven't had the chance to experience it in person. Thanks again for your detailed feedback, it means a lot. Cheers
I had this watch, I loved the look, how it wore. The movement however was terrible, had it sent to Seiko, was regulated and still was not good. I sold the watch. Better movement and I would rebuy in a heartbeat.
@@wmen48 I took mine to my local watchmaker to regulate. Was running right at +25 and that's too much. Since I had it done it's running at +2 sec a day. Great watch. Just poor QC from Seiko.
@@cetkovojicic5635 i prefer the 143 just because of the slightly bigger size but I do like the black dial more on the new one so it really comes down to what you value more
I bought this watch second hand for 550 euro, its amazing but the movement sucks, it loses 1 second per hour while wearing it and -15 seconds per day Im going to get it regulated and hopefully that fixes it For 550 i will accept the bad accuracy but for 1200, despite the watch being amazing, the movement ruins it and it is definitely not worth 1200
How long do you own this watch? Honestly, the accuracy is pretty solid, i don't have the same issues as you. I agree that 1.200 may be a little steep, around 900 would be perfect price for this watch.
I absolutely love how it looks. The design, color, and hands. But for the money, there are other watches that have better movements, bracelets, and look just as good. It's a shame really.
You can often get these with large discounts. I paid £770 gbp new from AD. It's not perfect at all but for the money I can't find anything to match it from an established brand(no micros). Nothing for the money has them vintage yet modern vibes and a watch so versatile it would not look out of place with a suit or casual. What would you recommend as alternatives ?
I got mine used but in absolute mint condition incl. a militat Jubilee bracelet for 700 € last year. I can not think of a much better watch purchase I made.
I like how this guy says there are better watches at the same price range as the spb143 but doesn't mention a single one. Even after multiple comments asking for recommendations, still not a single watch mentioned lol. It's a shame that ppl just talk out their ass.
I can’t confirm the quality. Mine has misaligned hands, dust under the crystal and a big gap between case and endlinks. The movement runs out of the box +60s to + 45s per day. By far the worst $1.000 watch I’ve ever purchased.
@timepieceofart it’s very unfortunate because I really like the look of this model. I regulated the movement to something like +15s to -10s a day. The hour hand has about 3-4min misalignment. It hurts my eyes every full hour, but I can live with it.
I prefer the sunray grey dial, brushed bezel and text of the 143 compared to the new 453.

Thanks mate, i really appreciate you taking the time and enjoying the video🙂

Same. 4r and 6r made me upgrade to Grand Seiko.

The Omega Seamaster Chronometer's movement is comparably efficient to a Seiko Spring Drive movement, although perhaps not as accurate.
Looks good
So 143, or the new 453? What do you think?

143 for the dial and 3 o’clock date.
I have the 455 and it’s nice.

3:35 USD$1200 and they still can't align the bezel.
lol that one is actually on me I didn't notice it moved while recording 😂

I am surprised to hear that, i know some seiko models have problems with quality control, but i haven't experienced myself

Those endlinks fit like sh!t.
I didn't mind it at first, but now everybody is talking about it and i can't unsee it 😀
