I think a third piece at a lower price point will always fail to impress you compared to your other two. I would suggest the SLA037J1 if you want something (or a Seiko) that more than stacks up against your other two watches.
Its not fair to compare a Seiko Prospex 143 to an Omega or Rolex. The 143 was also available in a Grand Seiko version - called the SLA017. THAT would be a fair comparison.
Back in the day I was deciding between this Seiko and Certina DS Action Diver 38. While Seiko might be a better known brand among watch enthusiasts, Certina was better in literally any other way: 300m ISO Diver, smaller size (38mm, so it disappears on the wrist), better movement (80 hours pf power reserve and Nivachron anti magnetic spring, better accuracy), and of course QC is miles better on Certina. Only “issue” is that lug width on Certina is 19mm, but bracelet is so good that I don’t even want to change it.
I have the green bezel 2 tone ds action 38 and I completely agree with you. I initially bought it instead of a longines Hydroconquest and I love the colours. Of course I did end up also buying the longines at a later date too, but both sit in my collection and get worn often.
@@HarrisonElmore you should definitely try them. They are barely marketed and might be hard to get in the US, but when it comes to value for money, it’s hard to imagine a batter brand.
Fair assessment of the spb143, I almost bought this one but rather chose the 38.5mm Seiko Solar Diver. It's also not perfect but It really fits my needs. Good luck on your search for the final piece to complete your collection!
I’ve been thinking about getting that solar diver you have. My thought is on a strap it looks like it would be good for the sea and laps in the pool. I have seen a reviews that discouraged me because they said the lume was not as good as other Seiko divers. What do you think? Is the lume good?
@@neilstewart1277 Hi, in my opinion the lume is very good as any typical seiko would (Lumi Brite). This has has been with me for more than a year now and still going strong. For the sea this will be perfect as you can also dive with it (200m Diver).
@@neilstewart1277 This 38.5mm smaller & lighter diver works well on the very lightweight Forstner Klip bracelet - Bonklip style. Functions as my dress diver.
I'd ask, "why build a 3 watch collection including 2 of the most commonly owned luxury watches?" Nothing against the Speedy or explorer, they're both great. But also, kinda boring and everywhere. The problem with a 3 watch collection is that all three need to be as versatile and unexciting so as to fit as many applications as possible. It's unsurprising that they both have black dials for this reason. 5 would be better but ideally 10. Then you should have room for fun and more diversity of colour, shape, dial texture, movement, bracelet etc.
@Cana Gummy wasn't advice. Just opinion. Also, with the hype around them, how can you be sure the speedy and explorer are completely chosen purely on the basis of personal taste and have absolutely nothing to do with the history and background to each and by extension what others will see in you if you wear them? C'mon this 3 watch collection absolutely screams what's thought to be cool to watch people but has little that reflects the owners personality other than to say 'I like what other people think I should like'. THAT is why it would make sense to expand the collection to include more variety and depth. Because as it stands, it's shallow..........only my opinion (not advice)
@@ThePlaiibox 100% agree with you. I'm tired of hearing all these "enthusiasts" talking about their "personal" collection which is in fact strictly the same as their neighbor 😆 As if there were only 10 watches in the whole world...😔
If you want a good seiko get the sla043. It's quality , and made just as well as your rolex and speedie. It doesn't come on a bracelet however, but it's not top heavy on a strap either. It's as good as seiko make in terms of build quality diver. And because it's made of the new ever brilliant steel it's 1.7 harder than normal 316l steel. It also houses the very reliable 8l35 movement made in the grand seiko factory. It is limited to 1700 worldwide , so it's also got a bit of exclusive benefits too. A beautiful watch by anyones standard.
I’m sure the tension on the bezel is simply a utilitarian feature for those that are diving, and can’t risk a slight bump to the bezel screwing up their elapsed dive time.
My perfect 3 watch collection: 1. JUNGHANS Max Bill auto 2. Seiko Slim Turtle SPB317 3. TISSOT Gentleman Powermatic 80- Blue Dial 3 watches, 3 countries, 3 colors, 3 different types, 3 different movements. $3,000... A watch for any and every occasion.
I have a 4 watch collection(Tudor black bay/Cartier tank/IWC Auto36) and a SPB213(Same as yours, just a different color)which I have worn daily for the least 3 years, I work with a lot of heavy machinery and this watch is a tough as old boots, it has taken a battering and still works flawlessly.
Own an SPB143 myself. Do I love it as much as my Tudor BB58 or say a Submariner? No. But I still enjoy it non-the-less. In certain lights that sunburst grey dial with the hands & applied markers looks stunning. I wear mine on a waffle rubber strap & never noticed the weight. It serves as my beater type diver. I tend to agree that if you are limiting to just 3 pieces overall then this may not be that ultimate final piece you are after. What about a Tudor GMT for both a dive look plus a GMT complication? Otherwise one of the new Grand Seiko divers? Or lastly, if you’d be happy to have 2 of the same brand in the collection, a Submariner or Seamaster? I’d also look to add a bit of colour either way to contrast your black speedy & Explorer. Good luck with it 👍 Ps. The bezel alignment on your SPB143 looks really good to me!!
I'm also a "3 watch guy" and currently only have my Explorer 39mm and Tudor FXD. I also have a G-Shock but I consider that something else entirely. I'll be picking up a GS most likely as my 3rd piece. My 2cents is that you should really have 3 quality pieces. It's such a small collection, not really seeing room for a compromise 3rd piece like this Seiko. Obviously, if you're going for a traditional 3 piece collection a diver will be your third option. Tons of options in the diver segment.
I do own the SPB143, and agree with you that I really like it a lot, but don’t love it. I also have the explorer, the new 36 mm 124270, and totally agree with having that in the collection. I envy you being able to keep it pared down to three watches. I have way way more than that, but the beauty of having fewer watches, is you get to enjoy each one more. I guess my thoughts on the third watch would be a little bit to work backwards… To figure out what role in the collection you want the third watch to play. Don’t know if you are a dressy guy or would need a dress watch… Also regarding budget, I know you sold off the entire collection to get the Explorer, which I can’t disagree with. Since you’ve got versatile, daily wear, black dial watches pretty covered already, I would be thinking outside those metrics. If you are a guy that even once in a while needs to dress up or go to anything formal, I wouldn’t hesitate to look at JLC Reverso. Preowned mono face models you could get for 4 to $5000. Sure, a lot of people wouldn’t wear that informally or day to day, although I would in a heartbeat, but you already have the explorer, which covers almost every situation otherwise. A quartz Cartier as potentially a more budget friendly option in the dress watch category. Nomos Orion or a vintage Universal Geneve Polerouter also come to mind…. beautiful dressy but versatile options. Also Grand Seiko SBGW231 is a beautiful, formal yet versatile option. A few other thoughts (various possible third watch options, since I don’t know you personally, and can’t guess what you are leaning towards): Panerai PAM 111… A classic Panerai model. You either love it or hate it. IWC Mark XVIII… specifically the le petite prince, blue dial. Brings a pop of color, and still pretty versatile. Casio G-Shock GW-M5610….. like the Panerai, you either love it or hate it, but super budget friendly, and versatile in any situation where you wouldn’t want to bang up a nice watch. A hell of a lot of functionality for $100 or so. Tudor Black Bay 58….. since you were looking at a dive watch, with a bezel, this is an option that would solve the weight/heftiness issue. Certainly a bit more expensive, but really a damn good watch. A number of dial options if you didn’t want to go for the black, which is the one I own, but for something a little different from your current collection, the blue dial would certainly be nice. Thank you for the video
Just buy this yesterday my wife saw and say like a rolex it's seems a timeles watch and she has don't understanding about watches dam that gives me chils love the watch really unique piece..
I have the SPB213J1 and the bracelet and clasp are poop and a parts bin special. The watch head is superb and I love it. Superb build quality and excellent value for money. I wear mine on a nato and that enhanced the enjoyment for me.
I don’t think a cheap third watch will fit with a collection of expensive luxury watches. It will always feel lesser. So, given the choice it will stay in the box over the expensive/better watches.
I see your point, but he’s wearing this as an every day piece. It’s going to get beat up. Imo, it’s better to get an inexpensive watch for daily wear and save the luxury watches for when you know you’re not going to beat on it. Not saying they should be safe queens, but I don’t think an Explorer should be used when getting your hands dirty
@@sinjon Exactly. I wear my SPB143 to work and my GS on weekends. They serve different functions. and it isn't that 'cheap', relatively speaking'. It is a smart looking watch. Doesn't have to be luxury to look good.

I’m doing something similar and trying to find the perfect 3 is so difficult. Love the video, I was going to get the SPB143 and thought it’s great… I went with the MM200 SPB240. Either way, Seiko really does fantastic stuff in this price range
Thanks for sharing your watch collecting journey. I’m in a similar place trying to find that ideal 3-piece collection. After 5 years I’ve realized it’s nearly impossible as our preferences evolve. Just one bit of constrictive feedback: the “for me’s” are a little fatigued.
Just get a Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300 for your dive watch. I know they don't have the heritage of Seiko, but they've been making great watches for 20 years and pioneered the direct to consumer via web sales before anyone else knew what that was! The Trident Pro 300 is an absolute stunner!
The movement winding while screwing and the bezel lining up to 12 are normal Seiko quality issues. The biggest issue with this watch is the time keeping. Adjustments can be made to the movement but no matter how diligent you are with using a winder you’ll always have to adjust the time once a week. That’s my biggest issue with the watch.
I've had this watch for 2 weeks and my observations (pros and cots) are the same as yours, except for the bezel resistance. Like you, I also prefer to wear my watches a little tight to avoid movement on the wrist. I picked up a Strapcode jubilee bracelet (20mm taper to 18mm) earlier this week and find that the watch is much more stable on my wrist on the jubilee than with the OEM bracelet. I think the jubilee bracelet has saved the day because I now intend to keep the watch when, before, I was thinking of flipping it. It now has taken the position of black dress diver in my 6-watch permanent collection (along with Doxa SUB 300 Searambler, Omega 3861 Speedmaster, Grand Seiko Snowflake, Ball Trainmaster Standard Time 135 Anniversary, and Doxa SUB 800Ti Professional).
Hey Wristswap, 3 watch collection?! You mad lad! 😉 Question, I know you're keeping your explorer and your speedy. Considering you're looking for a replacement for your Spb143 to complete your "3 watch collection" does this mean you got rid of your Pelly?
@@HarrisonElmore ahhhh gotcha! Well you have two classics! Such a tough spot. I've owned a ton of divers and I finally settled on the super ocean 42 in blue. I've owned the bb58 (sold it) as well as the pelly. Have also had pre ceramic subs, bunch of aquis, blue sea master 300s, bunch of seikos, doxa. Out of all of them, none of them resonated like the SO 42 in blue. From the tapered lugs, to the blue DLC treated bezel, the screw down bezel, probably the best sapphire crystal I've ever seen (sometimes its so clear it feels like there's no glass), the best lume I've ever seen hands down, and it's accurate to - 1 a day for me. I have the SPB143 but it lives on an Artem sailcloth strap. I highly recommend those straps... great quality. For me there are no perfect watches and though there are faults, this watch gets a lot of wrist time as one of my everyday watches, along with a couple of GShocks. I do have a bigger collection and tend to hold on to my watches. I don't disagree with your review, but to me, the positives outweighs any negatives. Overall very good review. Try Tudor BB 58 for your other watch. I think you'll find it will check most your boxes.
You clearly haven't watched his other videos. He literally has an entire video dedicated to explaining why he chose the Tudor pelagos over the BB 58 LOL.
Good video. You've taken a very good approach to your goal. I really considered buying this watch; but already had 2 diver's watches (1 beater, 1 luxe). As much as I loved the way the SPB143 looked, I simply could not justify a third. Good luck on building your 3-watch collection. I wore one watch for 13 years and only recently got into collecting. My collection is at 6, but should have stopped a 3. However, I am done now.
Very nice work with the review, I like your style and the way you approach things. I'd recommend leaving the text up a little longer as it goes quickly but other than that, awesome job. Congratulations on the quick growth too, you're definitely doing something right. As for the Seiko, it's in a tough price bracket but I think it holds its own.
Get the Z199 bracelet from Uncle Seiko specific to this model. I got it for mine and I absolutely love it. It definitely improves the wearing experience.
Just seeing this after deciding this week to sell my SPB213 (white dial blue version of the SPB143) agree with a lot of your points, particularly the top heavyness when on the bracelet. The 213 is beautiful but it's ever changing dial colour puts me off, I'd of loved it to be just a crisp matte white. Although it's main problem for me is that it's competing with an Explorer, Speedmaster, BB58 and a BBPro for my wrist time and there's just too many small compromises on this one.
I think for me if I was to just have a three watch collection. It would be the Omega Speedmaster professional, Cartier Santos medium and the Tudor Blackbay 54.
I's seriously considering spb143. I am getting for about 900 dollars in India but i'm not sure. Thanks for the video. This might change my decision. Bdw if anyone wants to buy below 1000 dollars and want to visit india as well then let me know, i'll give you a tour 😊
Nice video, the old formal, semi formal and casual 3 watch collection mantra exists for good reason! I'm currently looking for the last of those as well. In theory its a beater watch but to get anything that will remotely stack up to the other 2, it likely needs to be at least at this price point and that aint no beater (at least not for me!). I might check this one out at a boutique otherwise, the search continues!
It's weird...that feeling you have with the winding I get with my Seiko turtle but not with my sbdc061 or sbdc053. I also have that winding problem with my Oris Aquis. I'm not sure if it's a movement architecture thing if it just something off with my particular watches
Interesting point you raised about the winding feeling of the movement when screwing the crown into the closed position. I've noticed similar with a GS snowflake as well as my SPB143.
It's the magic lever system. I made a video on the NH35 breakdown. when I took it apart, the small teeth on the wheel the magic lever system ties into causes that gritty sound. It's because there are so many small toothed gears rubbing against that wheel. All of which are quite thin components, so it reverberates.
such discipline you got there - to have one out for another to come in. I know it is two years ago story but I think Oris65 might fit what you are looking for here. Cheers !!
I would consider a Longines Spirit Zulu GMT, a Sinn tegimented diver on a rubber strap, or a pre-owned Omega Seamaster 300m .... I'm assuming a budget of $2k to 3k. You will have to search for the right Omega at that price, but they can be found pre-owned in good condition.
@@Tribalius Hydroconquest one. I chose the older 39” model with the busier dial over the new one and also picked up a Hamilton khaki field so 2 for what the price of one new Hydroconquest would be. I have a small IG nothing big or nothing I’m trying to grow but you can see the watches @ wich_watch if you’re interested. You can definitely see the Hydroconquest taking over. I try to filter other watches in but it’s just such a pleasure to wear and look at.
Good honest review. It is a very attractive diver. I do not wear bracelets that don't taper. My Rolex Datejust has spoiled me and I am very picky about metal bracelets. How did the Seiko feel on that tropic rubber strap?

Come on now, I'm not the biggest fan of the bracelet myself, but "no taper at all" is just factually incorrect. It has 2mm of taper, which is pretty much standard on modern watches. Not as great as the 4-5mm taper you get on a Rolex or an Oris, but still far better than no taper at all, like what you get on an Omega Seamaster 300m.
I work in watch sales. I sell a bunch of mid range Swiss watches. Longines always claims that the movement it uses isn’t based off the ETA2824. I believe them. It has the same fking issue as the seiko when you hack the watch to reset the time, it bloody winds the movement. Only Longines does this, so it’s so annoying cuz I have to leave the watch crown unscrewed and out to ensure the watch is displayed at 10.08pm. Only Longines does this, not Tag, not Rado, not Tissot, not Oris.
Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 Skin Diver with black dial and SS bezel/bracelet. That my friend is perfectly vintage and modern. Also, Size is no issue at 39mm
Great review brother, if you don’t mind me saying it be good to get rid of the background music, most channels don’t use now as it’s a bit hard to concentrate on what your saying! How do you sell your watches? Subscribed..
Thanks for the tip! I hear it on a few channels, but if I'm going to use it I could have the levels a lot lower. Typically either an AD or EBay and take the hit on the fees. Welcome aboard!
These are probably some of the oddest cons I’ve seen for this watch. It sounds like you need a Tudor bb58 or a Tudor pro if you want a date and gmt. The spb isn’t that heavy but maybe your threshold is much lower. Tudor Pelagos 39 sounds like it would work too. The winding as you are screwing it back in is not a huge deal. I’ve had a Hamilton that did the same thing. Ps. Try the chevron strap from crown and buckle. It’s an adjustable nato so you can get that perfect fit.
nice video. i can’t afford your level of 3 watch collection. if i could, i’d pick a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or Tudor Black Bay instead. or even the James Bond Spectre Seamaster 300. i really like that one. my favourite James Bond watch ;p also, not to nitpick, but Diashock is not the “coating” on a Seiko. it’s their anti-shock system inside the movement that protects the balance wheel. in fact i think all Seikos have that. even my cheap 7S26 movement.
Relly liking your work man. I also appreciate you sharing your hunt for the perfect 3. Have you thought of the Rado captain cook line at all? Not terribly more but definitely just as distinctive
Hey, just found this video and I think it's pretty cool.... Have you considered trying an inexpensive third watch that you can be swapping frequently? Some new micro brand for instance or even a Vostok Amphibia (model 120152 is a killer watch and it's just 100$). Islander watches are also cool under 500$. Baltic, Ball, Ryke... Have fun!!!
For sure I have, but it just never sticks long enough yet. Then again, I think my three watch collection concept is not going to be feasible with this channel
I couldn't afford the seiko 62 mas ,so I bought the orient kano red bezel, black dial.almost identical to the one in your video and for only £156.00 around 200 dollars.
@@HarrisonElmore originally I wanted the 143. When I went to see them in person they didn’t have any left in stock. I was thinking about the white one but when the 145 was put on my wrist I loved it
Actually I would had recommend the Tissot Seastar 1000 with Powermatic 80. If you pay few bucks more you can get even with a Silicium Spring (but only in blue color).
Why does it absolutely have to be a 3-watch collection? I understand not wanting to go crazy with too many watches, but what if you find one you really desire, but still want to keep the three you already have? Having said that, this watch definitely doesn't belong in your 3-watch collection because if you are a watch lover (yet wanting to only keep it at 3) then it should be three watches that you absolutely love and are completely sure of.
I've owned a Fairwind and an SPB143. Here's the thing with the Fairwind. The difference in hand lengths will annoy you after a while, as will the stealth fighter jagged composition of it all. And the orange triangle on the second hand is too large proportionally and distracting. The circular brushing and font used on the case back is kind of ugly too. The bracelet links are all flat faced and come across as "sparkly." Most bracelet links are curved so you get a rolling highlight but the Halios flashed as each link passed through the light. But the on the fly microadjust on the clasp is the best there is. I also like having the date on my watch which the Fairwind was missing and I missed having it, so I traded it for an SPB185J1 which I liked a lot more and was going to keep forever unless an SPB143J1 showed up and when one did at a fair price I sold the 185 and bought the 143. I thought for sure the 143 was going to be the last dive watch I bought. Classic looks. Date. Respected name. BUT, it was just a bit too plain. Boring. I even missed my 185 that I sold to buy the 143. In the end I traded the 143 for an ORIS Heritage 65 and I've never been happier. The dial has character, the domed sapphire is beautiful and much more interesting than the Seiko, the watch is very thin, tracks at +1 second per day, it's very light, and the bezel lines up perfectly. In every way it's been better than the 143 and the Fairwind. But for me, between the Fairwind and the 143, I'd go for the SPB185J1. Before owning all three, the 185 had the least amount of appeal, but now I miss it more than both the others. You'll have to buy them all to understand. Good luck. (and get an ORIS, you'll like it more than any of these...)
I been there with three watches and I been there with 10, if your other watches are superior to the third one you are not going to have the same feeling towards the piece.I think if you buy something that compares to your other 2 you have a better shot, maybe a Pelagos, BB58, etc. IMHO
Interesting points! I never found the watch top heavy, been wearing my spb149 very much in the past two years. I would also recommend trying it with a erikas mn strap, feels like the best strap for this watch in terms of comfort. The bracelet is bulky, that i agree with, but it works for me tbh. I also wear it alot on the bracelet.
If the 70 hours of power come from one hairspring you're gonna see a big drop in balance amplitude and therefore timing deviation as that big boy unwinds. Pass. If you want 3 day power reserve from Seiko get a Spring Drive!
Beautiful watch. Perfect dimensions. But I think is way overpriced. And that price point one would at least expect a better bracelet. At least one that matches it better, particularly those end-links, which look like the made for another watch. It doesn't fit.
I own the spb143 and absolutely agree that the bracelet is garbage. You get what you pay for. Terrible clasp and non taper; get it together seiko! I’m also completely spoiled by my new sub’s bracelet aka the GOAT. Before parting with the seiko, maybe try a jubilee or oyster bracelet from uncle seiko. Both taper from 20 to 16 and his products, which I’ve had several, are great for the price. Good luck!

What’s reference number of solar diver
@@Ferien7 Hi, it's the SBDNO71 for the JDM ref no. and SNE571P1 for the world.
It reflects his personality
@@dogsarebetterproductions I'd say it rather reflects a lack of personality but each to their own.
@@ThePlaiibox 100% agree with you. I'm tired of hearing all these "enthusiasts" talking about their "personal" collection which is in fact strictly the same as their neighbor 😆 As if there were only 10 watches in the whole world...😔
A Seiko Willard SBDC109 is an excellent choice...Mine has a bezel that lines up perfectly and is fabulous on a bond Nato.
You should consider a Grand Seiko Snowflake. Would be a great dress watch or daily wear. Amazing technology. Beautiful dials.
The whole sla... watch series is hard to beat!
I’m sure the tension on the bezel is simply a utilitarian feature for those that are diving, and can’t risk a slight bump to the bezel screwing up their elapsed dive time.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe my callouses/grip strength mitigate this problem, but I have no issue with this.
My perfect 3 watch collection:
1. JUNGHANS Max Bill auto
2. Seiko Slim Turtle SPB317
3. TISSOT Gentleman Powermatic 80- Blue Dial
3 watches, 3 countries, 3 colors, 3 different types, 3 different movements.
Good luck with it 👍
Ps.
I could never. 3 pieces. Impossible. I think I'll finish at 20. Picking up my new tag Heuer Monaco tomorrow afternoon ✌️
A few other thoughts (various possible third watch options, since I don’t know you personally, and can’t guess what you are leaning towards):
Panerai PAM 111… A classic Panerai model.
Thanks for all the input! The JLC, and the IWC are strong contenders. I’ve had the BB58 and let it go too. Either way, appreciate all the thought!
My three watch collection consists in:
One diver/toolwatch for weekends, holidays, travelling: this SEIKO SPB143
One everyday go to office go anywhere piece: Rolex Datejust 36mm on jubilee with silver dial and domed bezel
My dressy piece (even if the datejust make this job also this is an icon and a personal/romantic choice): Cartier Tank Must
So I have a diver/tool, a daily and a personal iconic romantic choice. It took me time, but I love my three watch collection.
Cheers!
I have the SPB143 and I don't know what all the fuss is about it being too heavy. It IS a dive watch after all lol.
@jimmason8502 its fairly well balanced on the factory bracelet as well.
I have a SPB239 on NATO. I love it and it’s a keeper. Obviously the bracelet on these watches is not the best choice. The case is stunning and dial also for the price point. I also own Omega an Tudor and I find this watch being great value
Your channel has quickly become my favorite. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Appreciate it
HOW about a Rado Captain Cook 42mm, 12 mm thick with 200 m water resistance and 80 hours reserve that can set you back around $1500?
I’m doing something similar and trying to find the perfect 3 is so difficult. Love the video, I was going to get the SPB143 and thought it’s great… I went with the MM200 SPB240. Either way, Seiko really does fantastic stuff in this price range
Thanks for sharing your watch collecting journey. I’m in a similar place trying to find that ideal 3-piece collection. After 5 years I’ve realized it’s nearly impossible as our preferences evolve. Just one bit of constrictive feedback: the “for me’s” are a little fatigued.
Thanks for the note! Good point
Do you mind share which jubilee bracelet you bought? I am not a big fan of OEM bracelet on this watch.
Thanks for your review! What can you say about SPB381J1? Interesting to see your opinion!
Hey Wristswap, 3 watch collection?! You mad lad! 😉 Question, I know you're keeping your explorer and your speedy. Considering you're looking for a replacement for your Spb143 to complete your "3 watch collection" does this mean you got rid of your Pelly?
Yeah! I don’t actually own the Pelagos. I just don’t want to let it go back
@@HarrisonElmore ahhhh gotcha! In the sun the blue has this gorgeous Grey hue to it. If you get a chance try it on a Breitling boutique. If it doesn't sing to you, I wish you the best on your search!!
@@steelsteez6118 I'll be sure to do that! I've got something planned for the channel with the help of my AD in the area, so I should be able to get hands on soon!
@@steelsteez6118 yup your right this is the first video I've seen.
That is a really pretty piece. Kind of thick though. 14mm is huge! $1,200 is getting into ORIS territory…
It certainly is! It’s a tough pill to swallow for Seiko compared to Oris on both accounts
@@HarrisonElmore 3 piece collection is good. I have 4 “luxury” pieces that is in rotation.
Agreed, the thickness is my no 1 complaint at 14mm. Around 11-12 mm would be perfect.
I’m also working on building that 3 watch collection. This Seiko is very tempting 🤔
Thank you! Just chatting the way I would normally. Good note! I’ll do that!
Get the Z199 bracelet from Uncle Seiko specific to this model. I got it for mine and I absolutely love it. It definitely improves the wearing experience.
I’ll check it out!
I'll give you a tenner for it.
@@frankdux5693 too much sure give me a fiver
I think for me if I was to just have a three watch collection. It would be the Omega Speedmaster professional, Cartier Santos medium and the Tudor Blackbay 54.
Comparing watches that are thousands of dollars apart in difference is wild to me.
I's seriously considering spb143. I am getting for about 900 dollars in India but i'm not sure. Thanks for the video. This might change my decision.
Bdw if anyone wants to buy below 1000 dollars and want to visit india as well then let me know, i'll give you a tour 😊
The way you describe it sounds like the black Bay 58 will be perfect I’m not sure if it’s in your budget after buying all those other watches
Stumbled on and enjoyed. Subscribed. By the way the 9R65 Spring Drive in my Grand Seiko Soko has that same tactile feel. Not that it bothers me.
I’ve handled one Grand seiko with the same. Must be something in how they cut the teeth on the gears! Enjoy!
such discipline you got there - to have one out for another to come in.
I know it is two years ago story but I think Oris65 might fit what you are looking for here.
Cheers !!
I wear mine on an Erika’s MN strap which keeps it snug and aesthetically pleasing
Damn it, I was going to make the Longines Hydroconquest my next purchase but now I want this one too. I guess I have to try and get them both
I am having the exact same problem at the moment. If I may ask, what decision did you make? Greetings from Switzerland!
@@Tribalius Hydroconquest one. I chose the older 39” model with the busier dial over the new one and also picked up a Hamilton khaki field so 2 for what the price of one new Hydroconquest would be. It’s so hard to take the Hydroconquest off recommend it highly. Still have my eyes on that Seiko though.
Get a Ericka marine strap grey and black or black and grey.I have a Tudor gmt and a Tudor glamour double date .The seiko is brilliant I wear it every day at work just change straps No marks had it about 14 months.Tudors get scratches and marks every time I seem to wear them which is frustrating 😞
Had problems with bezels seizing up after a few months on some of my watches ,so I used wd40 one quick blast and it solved the problem.
Nice review. I can relate…
Perhaps the gs 9f gmt or a Cartier tank?
I’ll take a look!
I’m leaning towards an Aquastar to join my explorer. Good vids btw, also no way your stopping at 3 watches 😅
Hahaha I’m going to try!
Good daily diver style ? Not sure on budget but maybe pick up a Baltic ? Otherwise I guess the convo turns to Oris, Longines, then Tudor.
I'll check that strap out! My threshold is pretty low for a diver cause I want to be able to run with it sometimes using the bezel
Nice video, still rocking my SPB149 LE as a daily driver.
nice video. i can’t afford your level of 3 watch collection. if i could, i’d pick a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or Tudor Black Bay instead. or even the James Bond Spectre Seamaster 300. i really like that one. my favourite James Bond watch ;p
also, not to nitpick, but Diashock is not the “coating” on a Seiko. it’s their anti-shock system inside the movement that protects the balance wheel. in fact i think all Seikos have that. even my cheap 7S26 movement.
Right you are. Diashield is the correct term!
You look at the Longines Hydroconquest?
Relly liking your work man. I also appreciate you sharing your hunt for the perfect 3. Have you thought of the Rado captain cook line at all? Not terribly more but definitely just as distinctive
I’ve never actually handed one before! I’ll have to check it out
Hey, just found this video and I think it's pretty cool....
Did you want to sell it ...I'm interested
Through review my man.. great shots 🎥 keep ‘em coming. The collection is coming along nicely.
Appreciate it!
The watch with 3Hz caliber cannot be so overpriced, nothing to discuss here.. miyota 9xx beats Seiko at any point and it is much cheaper
I couldn't afford the seiko 62 mas ,so I bought the orient kano red bezel, black dial.almost identical to the one in your video and for only £156.00 around 200 dollars.
Looking at this watch to fit in to the same collection! I’m looking at a four watch collection having bought a Portugieser 40 as a dress watch
It’s a nice piece, just a bit top heavy
I have the 145. I feel the brownish dial adds just enough of its own character.
I haven’t seen that in person, but the images I’ve seen look pretty nice!
@@HarrisonElmore originally I wanted the 143. When I went to see them in person they didn’t have any left in stock. I was thinking about the white one but when the 145 was put on my wrist I loved it

I have! I just did a video on it actually. I used to own the black one
Indexes are pressed from the back,i thought. 🤷♂️
Actually I would had recommend the Tissot Seastar 1000 with Powermatic 80.
If you pay few bucks more you can get even with a Silicium Spring (but only in blue color).
Good recommendation!
Thanks for the review very informative

Thanks everyone for Subscribing! I'm grateful for how quick your support has been! Thanks Again!
Do you still have the watch?? Would you like to sell it?? If so how much??
I am going to sell it on the WristSwap website and eBay. I think probably around $900 on the site sometime next week
It doesn’t have applied indices, they are stamped, Seiko does them well.
Really freaking love this, but I'm torn between the halios fairwind.
IMHO
FYI the indices are not applied, it's a stamped dial
Hey good to know!
Tudor Black Bay 58 sounds like it fits your needs.
Maybe a vintage Seiko 62MAS or its more modern reissue the SLA017 would be a better fit in your collection.
That’s entirely possible. I’ll keep looking!
Try a Longines Hydroconquest. I wear mine on a khaki NATO strap. Love it.
Very nice!
Thank you for this video
I own it and it ticks so many boxes. I can recommend it 100%.
how does the 6r35 perform?
Anywhere between +5 and +15 sec a day with a solid power reserve
Minus 20 seconds a day on mine. Had it regulated and within a couple of weeks running off again. Beautiful looking watch. Absolute garbage movement.

Beautiful watch. Perfect dimensions. But I think is way overpriced. And that price point one would at least expect a better bracelet. At least one that matches it better, particularly those end-links, which look like the made for another watch. It doesn't fit.
Beautiful dial. Seikos have gorgeous dials.
After 6 months it IS part of your collection regardless of how many you have
Try perlon strap if you want the watch to melt into your skin..
I’ll do that!
Good luck!
