@@cesarvictoriano8072 so when you spawn at the checkpoint in front of the tentacle. Turn around and go all the way back to the furthest point you can go back. I would love to see a remake of the 2nd game, fingers crossed Rebrushed sells well enough for them to do it. Either way I'm going to pick up the sequel for PS3 so I can make a video on it
This is a Definitively Perfect Remake, I give it a solid 9/10, but with a few bug fixes and adding back the Bog Easy theme & the Oswald theme at Oswald's sanctuary, then I would give this a defining 10/10.
Epic Mickey was my favourite game as a kid and I spent so many years hoping for either a remake or the final game in the trilogy. We live in a society where I can finally be happy again, amazing video!
I hope they fix the music selection in a future patch. The paint and thinner themes got all mixed up, and some tracks were omitted completely, including Oswald's theme! Beyond that, though, yes, it is a very worthy remake of the OG EM! ^^
@@RETRObutionofficial I don't see how. They were mostly shorter themes, like stingers, and Oswald's theme was played in the credits. IDK why it wouldn't play in the throne room.
@@RETRObutionofficial all the music is done by the same guy, the lack of some segments is currently being theorized to be because those specific files had weird file naming. hoping these will be patched in along with all the bug fixes
The remake is so awesome im literally so happy about it, just wished it would have added at least the possibility to turn on voice acting the text sometimes is very fast to read in the videos😂
One thing I will say, is that NPCs actually did have some sort of indication of a quest in the original, they'd have little dots near the A button above them. It still means you kind of have to walk near everyone until you see it pop up, but it was there, so you didn't have to exhaust random dialogue. But yeah, beyond some bugs or minor issues (bog easy and Oswald's throne not having the correct music, (bog easy reuses lonesome manor, and oswald's throne just uses the generic ambience, but it does appear in the credits for some reason????) some NPCs changed races, some quests or items have different expiration than in the original, etc.) it's honestly a step up from the original, even though I do have nostalgia goggles on.
THIS GAME WAS MY CHILDHOOD! I was NOT expecting it to come back! It’s so much better than I remembered! It does lag in some parts, but what do you expect from the switch. I would honestly not be mad if they decide to remake the second game, music and all.
I finished it, although there were some bugs and lags along the way, but with the addition on new sections, and new collectibles to collect, I’d say this is a great improvement! Epic Mickey was my favorite game ever, and I’m a huge Mario nerd, and I’m not sure why epic Mickey stuck to me so much. But I have played it more than any game I’ve ever had. I was only disappointed by some of the side characters, as they aren’t as well done as Mickey himself. And don’t look as clear as Mickey which makes them stand out. Venturland was my favorite section as a kid, specifically skull island. It had beautiful colors on the wii. Which made it stand out compared to the rest of the dull and drab scenery you saw up until that point. Unfortunately with the remaster it’s not as vibrant and matches the rest of the scenery. Which could’ve been the original goal, and they couldn’t do it due to technology back then, but it was a section I loved and would’ve liked to see still with vibrant greens and blues. I also think the blot could’ve been more detailed, as he didn’t seem, just as the other side characters, to be as flushed out as Mickey and Oswald and Gus. All in all, it was a better camera, better graphics, better lighting, better play features, and I didn’t mind the lack of Wii remote controls. Which I thought I would miss, but I don’t really. I would rank it a 8/10, which is more than I would give the original, although, I have nostalgia for it. I would be interested to see what they do for this franchise, and I hope they continue it!
I think Epic Mickey sticks so much because of the tone, there are very few kiddy 3D platformers that have a dark tone like it. All I can think of is MediEvil (which isn't exaclty a platformer) and Psychonauts
I tried playing epic Mickey on the Wii and didn’t even get to the first boss (I stopped inside the boat ride) because I could not get the controls to work, I just kept falling off the platforms and the Wii remote/nunchuk controls would not work for me. Granted, I never played platformers on the Wii as a kid so I never got used to the controls for that, so I’m just naturally better at it on the Switch, but it stands to say the controls didn’t work well. The remake completely fixed this, I could actually enjoy the game and I’m so glad I did.
I've already done a Paint and Thinner playthrough and I've got all achievements, just gotta do a third and possibly fourth just to get all the other pins and concept art. But that ain't me complaining, I loved the Original and I'm more than happy to have this remake 14 years later!
@@RETRObutionofficial I used to do the same thing on the Original cuz I had no idea you could beat The Clocktower with paint with his arms. So I've had my fair share of constant replaying, but that's what makes this game so fun for me. It's the fact that you can replay it over and over and it somehow doesn't feel boring
I missed some things, the lack of emotions of gremlins, lack of certain music in certain parts really put me off. And i just felt that they could've added more things, or more matter to the things that are going on. There are some changes, but they are so small that for somebody that hasnt played the original in a long time would not notice. But im my case i did, and i dont know why the developers would change or not notice details like that. When you get to the top mickey junk mountain, you could listen to oswalds theme in his refugee, but now is just the same music of the mountain. Why?!?!?!?! Why?!?!?!?!?
And it's not just that! When you first enter Bog Easy, instead of the theme you hear normally like in the original, it's been swapped out for the Lonesome Manor theme, I don't if the developers forgot to add it or they didn't have enough time before release?
@@Bryan-fy5wt yeah man i dont get it, if you are going to make a remaster or remake of a classic game, why would you avoid details like that? They are supposed to know more about the game than us!!

I personally loved playing through and even pre-ordered for nostalgia's sake and because of my love for the franchise. I ended up beating the game on Sept. 29th. I didn't end up seeing the bug you motioned at the end of the game but I did have one specific problem with the tiki sam mask quest that was from Horace for detective III in ventureland. When I painted in the footsteps the NPC that was supposed to be there did not spawn in, leaving me unable to complete the quest in my first and only playthrough so far. Loved the video. Really expressed my feelings toward the game and original
Good to see the improvements made by the remaster. Not being able to access the final area seems like a big deal? I haven't read that many reviews but I wonder how many other people have that bug
It is a big deal lol. I just wanted to make this video as an overall point about remakes and how they can improve a game drastically. I could eat my words but I'd like to think the bug will be fixed soon
I LOVED the remake, as it made my childhood self shed tears at the end cutscene after using paint and helping everyone. Also gotta say remake Blot looks INSANE. Hoping to see EM2 Rebrushed
I hope I’ll get this for Christmas or my birthday. I LOVED the original game, even though I’ve NEVER finished it. I got stuck on the fair level with the Ticket Booth. I get SO turned around EVERY time I went through there.
@, I played it. LOVED it! Because I’ve NEVER played the original game. Now, I’m awaiting the movie DLC release for Shadow’s mission! He’ll have his movie design and Keanu Reeves will voice him!
i heard this game has a morality system that decides if you get a good ending or bad. can someone explain how it works and how to get a good ending? also those doll duck knights in the beginning of the game, does hitting them to get tickets affect the ending?
So thinning and painting random objects doesn't change it. I think it only changes when you can see it do something to the world, as in part of a quest
I’m really glad you enjoyed the game besides that end-game bug. I may check out the remaster in the future considering I do have the original Epic Mickey on the Wii.
I wasn't a big fan of the game to begin with, but I'm so glad this remake exists, because it's a nice redemption arc after Junction Point Studios shut down. While I gave up after the demo, I'm grateful that you didn't and enjoyed yourself!
What platform did you play on? Cause I preordered the game and played it 24 hours early on PS5 and beat it in one long sitting day one. So the bug was not there on PS5.
I’m about half way through my first play through of this remake and the only bugs I have come across is that a couple of the cutscenes don’t show as discovered in the menu and the first version of the bunny children mean street quest seems to be skipped as it gave me the second quest onward with no way to access the first one. Otherwise it’s been a blast and really feels like what I remember the original being like all those years ago when I was a kid.
I loved this Remake, it really brought back many fond memories getting the OG game on Christmas day. Some bugs need to be worked on but it's definitely a worthy remake. My only complaints is some of the visuals, more directly at Thinner/Bad Mickey. Thinner guardians were more disgusting and disturbing looking, leaving smoke trails, I don't like how they just pallete swapped the paint guardian to a green one. Also Mickey dosent look as disturbing with thinner guardians. He drips out more of the liquid you see in the game, making him visually look more like a Blot enemy. Other than that this is a perfect remake.
The most prevalent bug I've encountered is cutscenes not appearing in the Extras menu (mainly the Mean Street + OsTown cutscenes and meeting Animatronic Donald). Otherwise, PECK did I miss out on this game (or at least the story) in its heyday.
It was really great, my only gripe was I felt the projector levels aren’t as fun as they used to be and weren’t as mind blowing. I remember playing the sleeping beauty one for the first time and being like this game is a 10 even with its problems on the Wii lol. Still an amazing update!
Agreed! I got the original when it came out and could never get through it despite trying to push myself to get it done becuase it just felt like a chore. Now I’m playing rebrushed and can’t put it down! Almost beat it and will def be replaying!
I strongly agreed with you Retro epic Mickey remake is the best remake ever and best improvement is the cinema in mean street Mickey’s pixie dust and even the dash were all of my favorite and going inside the cinema and each cinema is themed after the rooms like gremlin village is a welcome edition for mean street and it gives the vibe of where epic Mickey Rebrushed aka epic Mickey Remake was heading next.
@@RETRObutionofficialin the original game, when you push Mickey against a wall, he’ll do an animation with both of his hands as if he’s pushing against the wall with all his might. I believe they omitted this in the remake, I don’t think I saw that animation at all.
And walking inside the cinema in epic Mickey Rebrushed is a welcome edition and you get to collect reels and that’s amazing 🤩 remake in my opinion says. And get to go over and over and over again and collect reels and I got 50 reels and just blown away by the remake of epic Mickey and go to the cinema 🎦 and go through each of the cinema over and over and over again.
I finished the game a few days ago, great game, and now after playing it i gotta say, i think its a mix of the two, i think its 50% remaster and 50% remake, since this one has new areas and there are more collectables. And even the 2D levels have new hidden areas.
I have the remake on the switch. Well, it doesn’t really work as well. But I think it updated so it’s less of a problem anymore. The loading screens take forever because of course it’s on switch lol. I don’t wanna sound ungrateful, but I’m thinking about talking to see if I can get it on Xbox instead if I return the game, I’m still thinking about it but the game is actually pretty good. It’s just sometimes a lag here and there. This is basically my first time actually playing this game, I first seen this game at Best Buy a long time ago when I was a kid, I think that was the time where the Nintendo Wii was popular at the time and I think it was one of the exclusive games. When I the cover art, it was the first time I actually seen a version of Mickey Mouse that was actually bad ass from my own opinion, of course xD
What exactly was this game breaking bug? I ran into *Almost* No issues with the game and got both bad and good ending Platinuming it Glad to go back to My childhood game after 11 years ❤ best remake this year q
I managed to fix it but it was a section right before you talk to Oswald with the fireworks, the room where Oswald is didn't spawn in. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for watching 👍
I am playing this game on PlayStation 5 I have had issues with the game freezes on me a few times during the playthrough I've done and I've also had the game forcibly close on me and restart so then having PlayStation tell me to submit the error issue.
Definitely being able to skip the side scrolling sections is an improvement what would have made it even more better would have been not charging me the 10 tickets to do so should have been for free I shouldn't have to pay to skip levels.
Am i the only one who doesnt see this as remake?, i mean yes it has completely different graphics and even new areas and you can even revisit projectors that you couldnt go back to in the WII game, but it has the same soundtrack and most of the voices are archive audio and the cutscenes despite being updated with new graphics are still the same, no for me this is an updated remaster made by a different developer team because its still the same game with a lot of updates.
I'm pretty sure a remake is like a complete overhaul of the base game/game itself, so that means that they can still reuse assets like audio and still be a remake
A remaster is a cosmetic makeover while a remake rebuilds the game or at least aspects of it The new mobility, fast travel, and specifically the camera system make it a remake If you look at Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which is a "remaster" for all 3 games in that trilogy, only 2 and 3 are remasters, the first one falls much closer to a remake
I think it's a remake. A remaster to me is something that gives you the base game maybe with a few QoL improvements and up rezzed to 4k or something like that, think of the recent Star Wars Bounty Hunter remaster
Remakes often than not harm the legacy of a game and even go so far as to add cancerous modern features into them along with castrating the unique look and feel of the games. Remakes exist solely for the companies to rehash and regurgitate IPs they do not give a single fuck about to the new batch of customers with no frame of reference and I have no hope of this ever changing no matter how good some examples might be.
@@RETRObutionofficial I havent really seen or heard anything bad about it. Theres some details they changed for some reason but other than that it seems to be exactly what it says on the can.
The one thing I was hoping for was that they'd go back and dub the cutscenes, I also realized it was way too much to ask for, but come on. It's bad enough that they aren't even animated properly, they're basically glorified animatics, but you couldn't even dub them? This game felt so unfinished and rushed back in 2010, and I gotta say... a rushed game is forever bad.
@@person8943 Are you... _okay?_ Normally when someone rēads a post about someone complaining that they didn't _fix_ the cutscenes, they don't pull a "Captain Obvious" and proclaim, "Did you know that, in addition to _not_ fixing them, they _also_ remain the same? This message has been brought to you by the Redundant Department of Tautological Redundancies."
I think it's in that weird middle ground of Remake and Remaster. Yes it's the same game, but it feels more like Crash N Sane Trilogy or Spyro Reignited, and I'd consider them remakes than just remasters
@@RETRObutionofficial The start was OK, even if that battle against that big machine felt like a weird start. Than I started collecting those tickets everywhere, where I never understood, why I should collect them. I hate games like that. Than the combat felt absolutely dumb, this stupid circle attack, which was useless against enemies. You're getting this paintbrush, with which you can fill and erase some objects and defeat enemies. I heard that this was thought to deliver creative gameplay. To me, it felt boring and unsatisfying. The platforming was never anything special. The level design wasn't exciting, there were side missions I couldn't do and I didn't know, will I get back to that place later or do I miss it, when I go on. I even found the level design a bit depressing from the themes. After around 3 hours, where nothing got any better in this game, I decided to sell it and never again care about it. The worst and disappointing game I played this year.
"Epic Mickey Rebrushed Is Proof That Remakes Matter" I disagree with that statement. Too many remakes changed their respective games too much and are not faithful by turning them into generic games. Seeing the old graphics and playing with the old mechanics made them fun and unique. If I want to play a game with shiny graphics and modern mechanics then I could've played a series' latest release instead. Only remakes I could think of that preserve the originals uniqueness are the Crash and Spyro trilogies and Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. To put it simply I think remakes are overrated.
I think everything they added to the game was a much needed improvement. Preserve the base game by buying the Wii version, then use the remake as way to fix issues and make it more accessible to a wider audience while also keeping the original vision in tact - which I think they did, just like BFBB Rehydrated
Epic Mickey is not a collectathon lmao Not every 3D Platformer is a collectathon, and a game having something to collect also doesn't make it a collectathon
I highly disagree. There is quite literally nothing to do in this game aside from the main story than collecting. It is literally the reward for nearly every single main/side quest.

@, I played it. LOVED it! Because I’ve NEVER played the original game. Now, I’m awaiting the movie DLC release for Shadow’s mission! He’ll have his movie design and Keanu Reeves will voice him!
And the cinema 🎦 is a welcome edition to Epic Mickey Rebrushed. Strongly agreed 👍 💯 with you the camera is very slow.
I personally have some gripes with rebrushed but i still love and and it really does epic mickey justice
i heard this game has a morality system that decides if you get a good ending or bad. can someone explain how it works and how to get a good ending? also those doll duck knights in the beginning of the game, does hitting them to get tickets affect the ending?
So thinning and painting random objects doesn't change it. I think it only changes when you can see it do something to the world, as in part of a quest
I’m really glad you enjoyed the game besides that end-game bug. I may check out the remaster in the future considering I do have the original Epic Mickey on the Wii.
I managed to find a work around and beat the game
I wasn't a big fan of the game to begin with, but I'm so glad this remake exists, because it's a nice redemption arc after Junction Point Studios shut down. While I gave up after the demo, I'm grateful that you didn't and enjoyed yourself!
Loved this game. Really liked how often if gives you new levels to explore
What platform did you play on? Cause I preordered the game and played it 24 hours early on PS5 and beat it in one long sitting day one. So the bug was not there on PS5.
I played on Switch and didn't encounter the bug, so maybe it's random on any platform?
I played it on PS5, it's just the nature of bugs, one person could have the buggiest experience ever, another could have no bugs
Yeah that's the problem with THQ Nordic games, at launch they can be quite buggy
In that case, we also need Ed Edd n Eddy The Mis-Edventures Rescammed
That game is EXPENSICE now lol - I only ever played the GBA version, which I still own
@@RETRObutionofficial All the more reason Ed Edd n Eddy need a remake
The most prevalent bug I've encountered is cutscenes not appearing in the Extras menu (mainly the Mean Street + OsTown cutscenes and meeting Animatronic Donald). Otherwise, PECK did I miss out on this game (or at least the story) in its heyday.
I wish they would have added voices like they did in 2, it would have made it much better
I would've loved to see them add VA. I wonder how much it would cost them
Hearing Mickey's squeaky voice in the darker cutscenes would have been weird ngl, I'm fine with having no VAs
Its part of the charm
@@thefriendlygamer2221 Exactly
Hopefully they remake the THQ's Cars Trilogy, damn these games were gold
Cars 1 on the PSP is amazing
you... you can skip the projector parts???
i finished the game and i never knew....
Aw that sucks lol - it was my biggest problem with the base game. Thanks for watching :)
It was really great, my only gripe was I felt the projector levels aren’t as fun as they used to be and weren’t as mind blowing. I remember playing the sleeping beauty one for the first time and being like this game is a 10 even with its problems on the Wii lol. Still an amazing update!
I think the 2D sections feel the same so it could be the ol rose tinted glasses
@@RETRObutionofficial you right!
Please tell me do they have the interacting with wall animation?
What animation is it? I can test it out
@@RETRObutionofficialin the original game, when you push Mickey against a wall, he’ll do an animation with both of his hands as if he’s pushing against the wall with all his might.
The skipping the 2D section feature was already in the Japanese version *FOR FREE*
The Japanese Wii version or Remake?
@@RETRObutionofficial Japanese Wii version
I finished the game a few days ago, great game, and now after playing it i gotta say, i think its a mix of the two, i think its 50% remaster and 50% remake, since this one has new areas and there are more collectables. And even the 2D levels have new hidden areas.
Yeah I would consider it a remake but it's not on the same level as something so fundamentally different like FF7 Remake or Trials of Mana
My only complaint is the guardian music is always inaccurate, and they straight up used the wrong music for bog easy
See I didn't notice this. Do you think there could've been some rights issues or is a bug?
@@RETRObutionofficial most likely a bug, Jim Dooley wrote all of the soundtrack for the Wii game and it’s all here except the small stuff I mentioned
That's quite strange, hopefully they fix it
I have the remake on the switch.
I ran into *Almost* No issues with the game and got both bad and good ending Platinuming it
Glad to go back to My childhood game after 11 years ❤ best remake this year q
I managed to fix it but it was a section right before you talk to Oswald with the fireworks, the room where Oswald is didn't spawn in. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for watching 👍
@@RETRObutionofficialI had the same issue
You have to make sure the sweepers spawn in
convinced me and my lady to re purchase the game, thanks for the detailed info!
Hope you enjoy it! What platform did you get it on?
It is incredibly nostalgic for me, but unbiased: IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!
Also, you’re super underrated dude!! Keep up the great work!
I only played the original for the first time a few weeks ago so even without nostalgia the remake is great
Thank you so much :) I appreciate you watching the videos
replaying it now i completely forget everything from the game minus the clock tower and intro boss
I want this game so badly, but I've heard so many negative things about the switch version, I hope a patch happens
Yeah if their port of Cosmic Shake is anything to go by I wouldn't be too confident in the Switch version
Let’s save Mario and Sonic at the Paris Olympic Games
I think Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games has had its moment
@@RETRObutionofficial I’m really sure Mario and Sonic at the Paris Olympic Games will happen
It was a weird choice, it meant aboslutely nothing to the overall economy of the game so they may as well just made it free
Loved this game as a kid.
Did you get the remake?
@@RETRObutionofficial no not yet.
I really want to play this but don’t know if I should get on Xbox or Switch. Any recommendations?
I would personally go with Xbox because the performance on Switch won't be as stable
I would say play the demo on Xbox, and on switch if they have it, and then decide which feels more smooth
I second this
This game is not what I thought it was and not what I remember from Wii it was interesting so much missable stuff thou
Strongly agreed 👍 💯 with you.
Remake is amazing 🤩. The cinema is fantastic and the epic quest is amazing and Mickey’s pixie dust is amazing best Remake ever.
i got the same glitch! I had to back track to an old checkpoint and die at it, fix the glitch for me 👌
Thanks, I managed to find the fix a while ago,. It seems like a lot of people had the same glitch
goopy mickey is still living rent free in my head
Don't you mean his friend Goopy (my joke, not anyone else's)
What console is everyone getting this on
PC. On the Nintendo Switch it runs at 30fps, has some missing audio and it looks suuuuuper blurry
@@teenageapple3788 I’m trying the demo on Xbox and switch. Figured switch sense it used to be a Wii game
@@Quocity i don't know, i still prefer it to call it an updated remaster in spite of all.
@@benjaminpoblete9166 to each their own
:)
A remaster is a cosmetic makeover while a remake rebuilds the game or at least aspects of it
The new mobility, fast travel, and specifically the camera system make it a remake
If you look at Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which is a "remaster" for all 3 games in that trilogy, only 2 and 3 are remasters, the first one falls much closer to a remake
I think it's a remake. A remaster to me is something that gives you the base game maybe with a few QoL improvements and up rezzed to 4k or something like that, think of the recent Star Wars Bounty Hunter remaster
Who else killed Moody?
OMG I had that same bug too and I was about to snap
There's a fix in the pinned comment
@@RETRObutionofficial thanks but I figured it out by myself
I never played the original, but I checked out the demo, and although it had some cool ideas, I still dont really want to get the game.
Are you a fan of other 3D platformers?
For sure, love em.
Do you think Epic Mickey is one of the bad remakes?
@@RETRObutionofficial I havent really seen or heard anything bad about it. Theres some details they changed for some reason but other than that it seems to be exactly what it says on the can.
i loved epic mickey i thought the horror element went great
The one thing I was hoping for was that they'd go back and dub the cutscenes, I also realized it was way too much to ask for, but come on. It's bad enough that they aren't even animated properly, they're basically glorified animatics, but you couldn't even dub them? This game felt so unfinished and rushed back in 2010, and I gotta say... a rushed game is forever bad.
The cutscenes have always been that way and it’s a faithful remake
@@person8943 Are you... _okay?_ Normally when someone rēads a post about someone complaining that they didn't _fix_ the cutscenes, they don't pull a "Captain Obvious" and proclaim, "Did you know that, in addition to _not_ fixing them, they _also_ remain the same? This message has been brought to you by the Redundant Department of Tautological Redundancies."
@@Wendy_O._Koopa the cutscenes are from the original
@@person8943 Is this an ESL thing?
@@Wendy_O._Koopa no I’m not willing to argue so I’m not saying much
Isn’t this game a remaster not a remake?
I think it's in that weird middle ground of Remake and Remaster. Yes it's the same game, but it feels more like Crash N Sane Trilogy or Spyro Reignited, and I'd consider them remakes than just remasters
love the remake so far
Did you play the original?
Nice video
Thanks for watching :)
I prefer demakes.
I guess the 3DS game is kind of a demake
I played about 3 hours of the PS5 version and felt totally disappointed. I think this game sucks and isn't worth the praise it got on Wii.
What didn't you like about it?
Remaster. Not remake
I think this is a remake
"Epic Mickey Rebrushed Is Proof That Remakes Matter"
I disagree with that statement.
Epic Mickey is not a collectathon lmao
Not every 3D Platformer is a collectathon, and a game having something to collect also doesn't make it a collectathon
I highly disagree. There is quite literally nothing to do in this game aside from the main story than collecting. It is literally the reward for nearly every single main/side quest.
I disagree, you collect quest items, sparks, and tickets
Everything you do gives you a collectible pin, that's the goal of multiple playthroughs, collecting them all
Such a great, dark moody game, but I hate wii controls so bad, glad they did this ,hope ps5 has gyroscope for aiming the brush
It does!
