Most likely there won't be a 3rd game. The original dev team discontinued back in 2012 when they got shut down by Disney. The lead dev left before the game even finished. The 2nd game was kind of a cash grab, ik it's harsh but it's true.
@@lelandharris9639 The original team doesn't have to make the game tho. I don't know why that means there will be no 3rd game. Disney as a whole is a completely different company than it was back then. We recently saw many old franchises getting new titles like Crash 4 for example. So if this remake becomes successful enough I don't see why they wouldn't consider making a sequel.
I completely understand the disappointment that the thinner/paint choices didn’t affect the story all that much, but as someone who gets way too emotionally invested in not hurting a fictional character’s feelings, it definitely makes me feel better knowing me accidentally making a “mean” choice won’t stop me from getting the good ending 😂
46:17 Italian here, you guys have no idea how massive the first Epic Mickey's marketing was, the graphic novel adaptation were drawn by two of the best artists in the country, Paolo Mottura and Fabio Celoni, and one of the biggest comic book/magazines of the country, Topolino had an entire issue dedicated to it.
If they make an Epic Mickey 3, there's a load of forgotten characters they could use, such as characters from the cancelled film Gigantic, the Wish concept art characters, deleted characters from Zootopia, Elsa's original design etc.
A: Modern mickey in most media would/should/is a more mature version of himself. He basically grew into the person he wanted to be, a true role model . B: Oswald wasn't the favorite child, but he and his little brother are at least working on patching things up, in my opinion
I genuinely think a musical video game is such a genius idea and so on par for Disney. It wouldn’t have worked for the first game so I’m glad they didn’t do it but the combination of having only the Mad Doctor singing and making all the other characters aware and confused by it adds a level of and comedy and a level of charm bc the songs r elite
I agree that the idea of a musical video game is great, but I disagree that having only the Mad Doctor singing works. Having the other characters aware of and confused by the fact that the Mad Doctor is singing feels like the game is making fun of musicals, not honoring the genre. It makes it feel like the game is ashamed of the fact that it's a musical and is making fun of itself instead of having the conviction to actually go all the way and be what it's trying to be. I also disagree that the songs are elite. I think they're extremely mediocre at best. It is nice to hear a differing perspective, though, and I'm glad that you were able to enjoy it even though I wasn't.
@@ExtraordinaryPeoplesI was about to disagree with you about the songs, but then I remembered that I didn't play the game in english, I played it with the latinoamerican dub that has an actual singer voicing the mad doctor in the songs (in the few non-sung dialog he is voiced by doc ock however)
I remember being overcome with emotion when I discovered Walt's Office, and seeing Mickey there. If I remember correctly, there was a brief dialogue too. Oswald's story of being found and finding a brother in Mickey was something that has always stayed with me. I'm so glad Walt's lost son has returned and has found a place for himself once again.
Epic Mickey introduced Oswald to me. And he’s one of my FAVORITE characters from the game😭 I love him so much. Epic Mickey also my love of horror.❤ it’s so whimsy and charming and I just love it so much
I remember the first time i saw anything of this game was on a commercial on TV when we were on vacation to Disney World. The game hadn't come out yet, but it was such a mysterious new exciting spooky world that made me more curious about Disney history than anything else.
I'd actually like to add that... well, I'm not sure the post-Walt heads of the company really knew Oswald wasn't owned by the studio for years. There was a company easter card from 1982 that featured a ton of Disney rabbits, including an early Roger Rabbit prototype, that had Oswald on it. Coupled with the fact that Disney's Toontown Online referenced Trolley Troubles, the first released Oswald short, also in 2003. Also, Spector developing Epic Mickey was probably a genius move in hindsight. The man developed a tabletop called Toon, a TTRPG based around cartoon logic as opposed to knights and magic.
I've seen the Easter card, but I wasn't aware of the Trolley Troubles reference. The Easter card wasn't a copyright violation because it wasn't a product sold to the public. I would imagine the Trolley Troubles reference probably wasn't explicit enough to violate copyright, but I couldn't say for sure.
@@ExtraordinaryPeoples It was a building facade that was a theater showing the short, but nothing actually involving it, so true. Though, since released pitch stuff for the game showed that they were considering giving him and Horace their own black and white area extremely early on.
The choice style thing is definitely there because young me kept getting stuck when I forgot to defeat a boss with paint and would have to restart the entire game
The only reason you would have to restart would be if you just wanted to use paint for everything, or if you wanted a pin you can only get by using paint. The actual game doesn't change at all regardless of how you defeat the bosses, so this doesn't really make sense to me.
we must have had a bug in our game then because if we didn’t stick to our path then it wouldn’t trigger the next area opening once the boss was defeated in EM2. Say we thinned the area boss instead of painting him, a door wouldn’t open and we’d be stuck in the level and would have to restart the entire game
That's really weird. I've never heard of that happening. It definitely must have been some kind of bug. You're supposed to be able to make any combination of choices throughout the game.
Even after five months, after the remaster, I feel lucky to have lived in the era to have seen the revival of Oswald. Oswald is my favorite character from the game. Not only that, but Epic Mickey is definitely one of the first pieces of media that had something horror related and is a HUGE reason I love horror the way I do❤❤❤❤ needless to say, I’m grateful❤❤
"I just feel in this weird sort of way, that (uhh) I'm giving them their hearts back, their hearts are gonna appear in their chest again and they're gonna appear pop back in the real world, and- and people out here are gonna love them again" - Warren Spector I'll be honest, It took me a while to play the first game, because when I was little I played the Second One, and wondered who (almost) everyone were, but later i got to know Oswald's story, and how he's become one of my favorite Disney characters, and when I started playing Epic Mickey 1, I was happy when you get to see Oswald at the beginning before the scene where he talks with Mickey. Now I can say Oswald and many of the Wasteland characters have a heart thanks to those who played the games, they leave a little something in our hearts.
Crying about a game I've never played wasn't on the docket today but here we are. Disney owes you for promoting the new game I will definitely be buying it 100% thanks to this video
This was a very, VERY well done retrospective. Not a single detail was skipped. Very glad the remake is coming this year, so new generations can play this masterpiece. Subbed!
This game is the reason Oswald is my favorite character. Also I think the reason the mad doctor only sings is because that's how he talked in the original cartoon.
I love how the game represents the actual experience of Disney theme parks. We go through the different lands of adventure and fantasy the same way how Mickey did helping everyone and end off with fireworks over the castle the same way how the blot is destroyed and the castle regenerates.
I am glad that this video got recommended to me. I got into Epic Mickey around 10 years ago, which was like a couple years after the last games in the franchise. As someone who just got started looking into Disney history at the time because I've been a Disney fan my entire life, the premise of the game exploring forgotten and unused aspects of the Disney brand had 7 year old me hooked, despite not playing any of the games. Throughout the years since then, I've looked into the game's story, and I started to appreciate it even more, showing me that Mickey actually has flaws and wasn't always this picture perfect role model that younger kids idolize. Around February of this year (or 2024 for those who might see this comment in the future), I was feeling sick, and I couldn't go to school due to my condition. The day after that, I was getting breakfast and decided to check out the Mini Direct out of curiosity. I still was feeling a bit iffy, but it wasn't as bad as the day before. When I saw the announcement of an Epic Mickey remake coming for all platforms, I felt really excited. I felt so good, that the excitement actually motivated me to return to school. And, I was really happy for the rest of the day. I'm glad Disney decided to approve of a remake for this game, considering it did not only reinvent the mouse, but also a celebration and a bit of an influence for Disney animation and parks. I'd like to say I've enjoyed this video very much. There was a good amount of effort put into it. And like it was mentioned, I was one of the many people who was impacted by the series. Thank you for making this. I can't wait to enjoy the remake, and I hope you do too.
I feel like this game is so under appreciated even in the gaming community. Epic Mickey was one of the best games I played as a kid, I would totally revisit it if I still had my Wii 😭
I loved both these games as a kid. Honestly though, I loved the way they did the cutscenes in the first game. I loved the exaggerated movements and noises to convey the emotions like an older cartoon
Having lived through both of these games they were the best things I had ever played. Hell I still play it almost religiously every year. I'll never stop loving these games. I'm so excited to also be living through the Rebrushed coming out soon. Hope this sparks an uprise in Epic Mickey and we get a proper sequel and get that final trilogy that Specter wanted from the beginning
i remember learning about epic mickey online, getting the game informer and studying every picture and concept art, and obsessing over the game i thought it would be in my head. when it came out, i was honestly disappointed that it wasn’t the “dark gritty” world that the initial concept art promised, and my interest dropped ever since. however, seeing this video (and growing into an adult with a much different perspective) has really made me rethink my opinion on it and want to revisit it. i’m super excited for the remastered edition!!! thanks for this!!!
I'm really happy that I decided to watch this video. I was very wary at first, because I've seen many talking points and think pieces with the same regurgitated thoughts towards this game for years. As soon as I saw you with all your Epic Mickey merch mentioning that it was your favorite game, I definitely perked up and got excited to hear what you had to say! A lot of criticism that comes to this game, from my own experience, has been from people who haven't really played it or ever cared to play it. They don't realize that the people who love this game are already very aquatinted with its flaws and know where it falls short. This game came out right before I was set to go to college, and I went to college for Digital Art and Animation. There was an emphasis on more video game related media, but we did learn a lot of foundational animation skills like hand-drawn flip animation. I was very obsessed with animation and also very obsessed with Oswald, and I remember seeing all those interviews where they talked about replicating old cartoon animation in a 3D space! I loved the idea of a forgotten world with forgotten characters, a lot of it lines up so perfectly with a Kingdom Hearts storyline (another series I was heavily obsessed with as a child) My desire to play this game definitely stemmed from seeing Oswald brought back (I hoped to see more of him afterwards too!) The problem with going to a school focused on video games and animation is that there are a lot of... big criticisms within our own art towards each other but also towards media in those industries. It's kind of like those jokes about meeting someone who took one psychology class and has a lot to say. I remember expressing that I enjoyed Epic Mickey, or I would implore if anyone else had played Epic Mickey, because I thought at the very least that the progress videos of them replicating 2D animation in a 3D space would be REALLY cool for my peers to see. Almost every person I tried to talk to would not stop bringing up the fact that "the game just doesn't live up to the concept art so it sucks" it was infuriating, because it was so dismissive, and eventually it just felt like that was being parroted to me over and over with no context. Also, as a school with an emphasis on art in video games, I would think it's obvious that concept art does not equate final product. Epic Mickey isn't alone in this! I understood the frustration with choices not being as important as you thought, or the paint and thinning abilities not being as flexible and open as people would have liked. That's valid! I would also ask people who brought up those criticisms (especially since I was in a video game obsessed school) what their solutions would be to fix those things in a realistic way, but since they didn't actually play it there wasn't much to actually discuss. I really loved the amount of history you added into this video with the old school animations, the developers, Disney as a company and the games themselves. It's a breath of fresh air for me, honestly. I really enjoy the criticisms too! Even though I had seen most of these interviews, I had never seen the one where Warren Spencer talks about Epic Mickey meaning the most to him because of the fanmail and the amount of people that let him know how important the game was to them. That honestly hit me hard because I hadn't realized how much of a bubble I had felt stuck in over this game. I genuinely thought so many more people hated this game, and there is something so wonderful finding out that it is really well loved. I'm happy that more people will be able to experience it with the remaster! This video was excellent and I really appreciate the work you put into making it.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for the kind words. One of my goals when I make a video like this is to bring something new to the conversation. If a topic has been thoroughly covered, I won't usually talk about it. In the case of this game, there's probably thousands of videos about it, but there's so much to the game and its story that it seems people just never talk about. Honestly, I really agree with you about most of the coverage of this game and its history being pretty shallow and consisting of the same regurgitated talking points. I really felt that way, and it's one reason I wanted to make this video. There's a line from Ratatouille that I really love that goes, "...in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so." I thought about that line a lot while making this video because it really seemed like a lot of the conversation about this game was around its failure and perceived wasted potential, and not about what the game did right or how many people love it, not to mention its place in Disney history in general. Anyway, all that to say, I was very happy to read your comment because a lot of the things you said you enjoyed about the video were things I was specifically trying to do, and so that makes me feel like I succeeded at least a little bit, so thank you for that.
When I was around 7, Me and my brothers got a wii for Christmas from my late grandpa. With the wii he got us a copy of epic mickey. The next day I started playing, and was given nightmares for the next week. But for some odd reason, the game still fascinated me, for some reason I kept coming back, and kept getting scared the further I got. I never beat the game till one day when I was 14 and I found the game in a box. I cannot wait till the 24th to drop everything I'm doing to play the remaster. Great vid btw, keep it up!
Such a great video, I’m glad there’s so much appreciation for this game. I was only a kid when I first played it, I didn’t know anything about Disney history & Disney parks, so I’m glad I can give it a second chance as an adult with the Rebrush edition
I remember when first I saw the epic Mickey trailer and the game informer page for epic Mickey for the first time , at The time, I was loving platforming games like crash, Spyro and Spider-Man from PS1 and a little bit of Pac-Man and was already watching a ton of cartoons at the time that were mostly action scenes fighting like Batman the animated series, Spider-Man the animated series, X-Men, Teen Titans, and We already had the wii because my parents wanted me and my brother start exercising with wii sports, EpicMickey changed my life in a numerous amount of ways and might as well kickstarted my love for horror and being able to enjoy/appreciate the characters in games I play a lot more as well as appreciate how far animation has come, not even to mention the story choice mechanic, the dark horror ambience the whole game had, but at the center of it was history and appreciation for the old timey rubber hose cartoons That are Basically the cemented foundation of all the anime cartoons video games we have today without those old timey cartoons they had back in the day I guarantee a lot of the animated and video game entertainment we have today would not be here At least in the form, we know it not to mention the game was practically a welcome back to Oswald which was WAY overdue epic Mickey is a perfect example of That You don’t forget what came before. And that we have the choice whether to scrap everything and destroy the world to forget the past or build off it, use it to paint a whole new future, that’s why I am so hyped for epic Mickey rebrushed and I can’t wait to stream it when it comes out .
And playing through the game trying to talk as the characters just made me connect more to the game that’s why I had such a had so much fun Voice acting it my own live streams on it while also showing my excitement via the reaction video, I made when re-brushed got announced epic Mickey will always have a tender spot in my heart even though the second game wasn’t as big as a hit I hope and pray one day that we will either get the third game that was originally planned so we can see the unfold until that prayer comes true, im happy to have it back in the spotlight again.
I've had this pulled up for a over a month now. I finally got around to watching it. As a huge fan of Epic Mickey myself. I love how detailed, and well scripted this entire retrospective of the franchise is. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the remaster once that is out. So you sir have earned a new subscriber.
I never got to play Epic Mickey 2, but I remember playing the demo over and over again and being enamored by it. It’s a shame the rest of the game didn’t live up to that intro.
I remember playing this game I was in middle school and I beg my parents to get me the epic Mickey 2 and I got it. Even though I wasn't finish on the first game but these two games help me a lot in middle school and now I'm in college! and I never forgot these games and I'm so excited that we are going to get a remastered of it!
I really wanted epic Mickey as a kid and I was lucky to find a copy almost three years ago still with either preorder/bonus disk. I usually played it at night for a more spooky vibe. Love the game and I hope the remaster fix a lot of things. Also I love how Phil was always like “really? Okay I’ll do it lol”
I'm really hoping that the Switch version of Rebrushed has pseudo pointer controls in much the same way many Wii ports have done. I also think it'd be a good time to address the issues the game had, like improving the camera, adding voice acting ect. I'm not really expecting those things, but eh. BTW, if I recall correctly, I think that Power of Illusion was made by the studio that made games like Monster Tale on the DS, the controls certainly feel like it anyways.
I used to be obsessed with this game and would watch TH-cam videos on it all the time. When I actually got to play the game though... I never finished it 😂 I don't know why
1:17:35 the guy in the red falling to the ground when he saw the trailer pop up was genuinely me falling to the ground sobbing in my apartment when I heard the announcement
Maybe someone already commented it or you already know, but there's multiple gameplays footage of Epic Donald that got into the public recently. It shows that the idea of the game most probably was to have Donald and Mickey together, and that Donald would have the power to travel around different times which would let him progress into the game, here's the link for 1 gameplay, you may want to search for the rest: th-cam.com/video/2PGDndAflow/w-d-xo.htmlsi=D4FNC3YJPsfwZDsM
Oswald was still well known when Mickey was there also that Card Walt Disney made with Oswald in it is kinda ironic since at the time that was made Oswald's design was changed into a Realistic Rabbit.
great stuff!! i used to play epic mickey 2 with my younger brother a lot when we were younger and this video was wonderful revisit on the games and those memories in a way :)
I loved Epic Mickey so much that not only it fits in comfortably in the Disney Animated Canon, the filmography of Walt Disney Animation Studios, it also gave me a new perspective on retired, unused and obscure Disney creations, especially with Wish. Instead of wallowing in woes like those people, I instead imagined those deleted characterisations and designs being in Wasteland. By the by, regardless of what you feel about Wish, I actually liked it. It's not the greatest, but it's far from the worst.
@@ExtraordinaryPeoples I think I should address. See, the game also has its novelisation, which I constantly read from the library and now currently owning. I loved it just as much as the game itself. Also from last year, I made a special video that commemorates Disney's 100, using the music from Epic Mickey 2 and visuals of concept art of every Disney Animation film, th-cam.com/video/2Tu-ynE-5no/w-d-xo.html
This is great. I love deep dives into media I remember. I only ever played the first one, so I'm really glad to hear about the plot and history of the other games.
I love the Art of Epic Mickey book. It is one of my favourite books to skim through as it is not your typical Disney fare. It's pretty dark and bleak with some really scary designs as well as some absolutely beautiful Disney art of their main characters. I picked up my copy from ACME ( Australian Center of Moving Image) and I just can't recommend it enough for any inspiring creative😊
I'm so happy we are getting an Epic Mickey remake, hopefully we get a remake of the second game that goes with the original story it was meant to have.
fun fact i've been BEGGING for that remaster/remake/whatever for ages. the night before before that fated nintendo direct i was talking to my mother about how much i wanted it to be announced but that it was never gonna happen (i told her i was wearing my clown shoes about it). the next day i watch the direct. within a split second i recognized the trailer and i absolutely shrieked lol
Being brutally honest, if I saw a platformer in the 2000s or most of the 2010s focusing on “Two player co-op,” I was always expecting a watered down piece of crap that put emphasis on making sure everyone can get through it without ever having to be engaged. Of course, this is made even worse if they include a single player option where you have to tediously get every character into place to pull switches or open doors.
Thanks for the information!! I always played the sequel on PS3 and I just loved it. It was my favorite game and unfortunately I couldn't play the first game because I didn't have a Wii.[I know that rebrushed coming out soon] Since May I have been working on a university project called F.F.P and I have chosen Epic Mickey as my main theme.I have to research the whole internet now because I only have one year to do it.[Believe me. I have been working on the first chapter since May 😂].Thank you so much , you really helped me
Man 45 minutes in. This video is exactly what I needed. Played them when they came out replayed the first end of 2016 and then thought about it for the last month or so.😊😊
The ultimate goal in my opinion is if the remaster does well enough to please the Disney higher ups enough to sway them to let Purple Lamp the company making the game to potentially finish the story that junction point had planned my understanding is JP had 2 more games in the series but we all know what happen
i think i may have been played Epic Mickey 1 at LEAST 20 times on Nintendo Wii... however i played through Epick Mickey 2 once and never touched nor thought about that game again
Tell me. Why we didn't get an epic mickey movie for the 100 years of disney...instead we got wish!?!?! An Epic Mickey movie would've made much more sense!!! A true nod to the foundation of disney plus a tie in to the new remake coming out this year. They could've even had a halloween event where the blot is taking over disney world/land and have a tie in app to defeat the blot around the parks.
This IP is my favorite from Disney’s game list, I love epic Mickey and can’t wait for rebrushed, I want to get the collectors edition and even if I don’t I’m still gonna get the game, I’ll even buy it again if I do find the collector’s edition
While Epic Mickey didn't stick with the more gritty aspects of the story, I think it works out pretty well. The one thing of note is the main game kinda downplays the life Oswald was leading prior. You wouldn't really know he considers the animatronic Goofy, Donald and Daisy as friends even though they are robot recreations outside Tales of the Wasteland and some flavor text. for EM2...I think it would of worked better if Ortensia was the one to suggest Oswald give the doc a chance - she'd been stuck as a statue for some time so she might be a bit more naive but get wise to what he's doing sooner than Oswald. Have Oswald still go with it, but once he finds out, he runs off or does something reckless as a result before admitting that his fear is...if the mad doctor can't be redeemed, can he really be redeemed as well?
I loved this game! I spent hours on it, and my sister and I spent hours on the second one. I cannot wait for the remaster for the Switch, and I really hope they remake the second one too
This video is surprisingly well edited, possibly editing a little bit of the audio settings would be nice, a more mellow background track, with a more light and upbeat style. I enjoy that you didn't randomly put many super loud parts, great to sleep to.
I was recommended this and it's fascinating! I had no idea that the games were based on things in Disney's history. Unfortunately I haven't seen much of their newer movies and stuff so I don't have opinions on them, but I want too. I never played the second game but I did play a bit of the first. I ultimately got rid of it because I didn't like the motion controls. Also as someone else in the comments pointed out yeah Twisted Wonderland does kinda take inspiration from classic Disney and Epic Mickey.
I was never able to finish the first game because I had to rent it (via RedBox lol) but I remember loving it. It was very wonky, but I learned about so many characters that I never knew about and made me actually use the family Wii. I have such amazing hopes for the future of the this series if it’s put in the right hands ❤️
I’ll never forgive the world for robbing us of more Epic Mickey. Very excited for the remaster and praying it sparks new entries in the series.
Hell yeah. I miss the old platform/puzzle single player games, I wish they will continue making them.

I agree that the idea of a musical video game is great, but I disagree that having only the Mad Doctor singing works. Having the other characters aware of and confused by the fact that the Mad Doctor is singing feels like the game is making fun of musicals, not honoring the genre. I don’t need a history. I experienced it.
Same, still gonna watch the video tho
This game is part of my history
Real recognizing real
Same
Gave me nightmares
"I just feel in this weird sort of way, that (uhh) I'm giving them their hearts back, their hearts are gonna appear in their chest again and they're gonna appear pop back in the real world, and- and people out here are gonna love them again"
- Warren Spector
I'll be honest, It took me a while to play the first game, because when I was little I played the Second One, and wondered who (almost) everyone were, but later i got to know Oswald's story, and how he's become one of my favorite Disney characters, and when I started playing Epic Mickey 1, I was happy when you get to see Oswald at the beginning before the scene where he talks with Mickey.
Subbed!
Thanks!
This game is the reason Oswald is my favorite character. Also I think the reason the mad doctor only sings is because that's how he talked in the original cartoon.
Probably, but just because it worked in a cartoon doesn't mean it works in a game.
This is awesome, thank you so much for making this. Love Epic Mickey so much with its place in Disney history, and am so eager to play the remake.
Thank you for watching it!
I can’t imagine being sad enough to deny joining club 33
I love how the game represents the actual experience of Disney theme parks. We go through the different lands of adventure and fantasy the same way how Mickey did helping everyone and end off with fireworks over the castle the same way how the blot is destroyed and the castle regenerates.
That is a really good point that I didn't even think about.
I'm hoping Epic Mickey 2 will get a rebrush as well.
Thank you! I'm also very much looking forward to playing the remastered game.
I feel like this game is so under appreciated even in the gaming community. Epic Mickey was one of the best games I played as a kid, I would totally revisit it if I still had my Wii 😭
Epic Mickey is fr so important to me 😭 I pray every day for more
Thought I was the only one
all i know about epic mickey was that the intro scared me half to death as a child
Same, it was so haunting!!!
I loved both these games as a kid. Honestly though, I loved the way they did the cutscenes in the first game. I loved the exaggerated movements and noises to convey the emotions like an older cartoon
16:00 Love how they show Walter Lantz Oswald art when talking about Disney.
Yeah, it's funny that the Walt Disney Archives even (apparently) has that.
I loved the idea of a forgotten world with forgotten characters, a lot of it lines up so perfectly with a Kingdom Hearts storyline (another series I was heavily obsessed with as a child) My desire to play this game definitely stemmed from seeing Oswald brought back (I hoped to see more of him afterwards too!)
The problem with going to a school focused on video games and animation is that there are a lot of... big criticisms within our own art towards each other but also towards media in those industries.
Thanks!
First time coming across your channel. You did a great job with this retrospective
Thanks!
This is definitely my favorite video on the Epic Mickey franchise! Thanks for going over everything and being so informative!
Thank you so much for this video, I loved every bit of this and it honestly had me ready to cry
Thank you for watching, and thank you for the kind words!
So, is there just a designated voice actor for Yen Sid? He sounds identical to the one in Kingdom Hearts.
Yeah, it's Corey Burton.
I remember watching my brother play this game. The concept and art design was so disturbing as a kid, but so cool looking back on it now.
Oh I'm so excited, I'm learning more information about one of my favourite games. This is so good. 😀
Thanks!
Relatable
That's correct. The studio is DreamRift.
I played and beat the first game over a dozen times. I never realized that I could redeem enemies and get different cut scenes at the end.
I’ll be at Disney when the remaster comes out in September
I used to be obsessed with this game and would watch TH-cam videos on it all the time. When I actually got to play the game though... I never finished it 😂 I don't know why
1:17:35 the guy in the red falling to the ground when he saw the trailer pop up was genuinely me falling to the ground sobbing in my apartment when I heard the announcement
Maybe someone already commented it or you already know, but there's multiple gameplays footage of Epic Donald that got into the public recently.
It shows that the idea of the game most probably was to have Donald and Mickey together, and that Donald would have the power to travel around different times which would let him progress into the game, here's the link for 1 gameplay, you may want to search for the rest:
th-cam.com/video/2PGDndAflow/w-d-xo.htmlsi=D4FNC3YJPsfwZDsM
I don't think anyone else commented it, and no, I actually didn't know they got that far into development on that game.
Oswald was still well known when Mickey was there also that Card Walt Disney made with Oswald in it is kinda ironic since at the time that was made Oswald's design was changed into a Realistic Rabbit.
I know, but Mickey was far more popular.
great stuff!! i used to play epic mickey 2 with my younger brother a lot when we were younger and this video was wonderful revisit on the games and those memories in a way :)
Theyre not so wrong about mobile... Disney Twisted Wonderland has some aspects taken from both classic disney and Epic Mikey
I actually really liked Wish, and I even made a video on this channel defending it.
I watched your video; I thought it was really awesome!
@@ExtraordinaryPeoples Thank you.
This is great. I love deep dives into media I remember. I only ever played the first one, so I'm really glad to hear about the plot and history of the other games.
Truly beautiful essay. I don’t have any nostalgia for it, but watching this made me download EM2 on my Xbox. Looking forward to Rebrushed now!
Ah... Mickey games. Still remember playing one for the V-Smile back in 07, when I was 5/6
Both games have made the mad doctor my favorite disney villain (mostly the second game because i'm waiting for rebrushed)
I really wanted to get that book for this video, but it was way too expensive. 😕
Personally I found it hilarious that the doctor almost exclusively sang
I'm so happy we are getting an Epic Mickey remake, hopefully we get a remake of the second game that goes with the original story it was meant to have.
37:56 This clip here is amazing, Mickey and the Gremlin guy just losing their shit, holding each other for dear life. Classic.
fun fact i've been BEGGING for that remaster/remake/whatever for ages. the night before before that fated nintendo direct i was talking to my mother about how much i wanted it to be announced but that it was never gonna happen (i told her i was wearing my clown shoes about it). the next day i watch the direct. within a split second i recognized the trailer and i absolutely shrieked lol
“It was decided epic Mickey would be a Wii exclusive”
THQ: allow me to fix this game for you.
It was my favorite game and unfortunately I couldn't play the first game because I didn't have a Wii.[I know that rebrushed coming out soon]
Since May I have been working on a university project called F.F.P and I have chosen Epic Mickey as my main theme.I have to research the whole internet now because I only have one year to do it.[Believe me. I have been working on the first chapter since May 😂].Thank you so much , you really helped me
I'm so mad that Jungle Book level never materialized.
Do not recite the deep magic to me, witch, for I was there when it was written.
I never knew Disney's mascot was originally an anti-hero
wonderful video! very informative and emotional 🖤
Man 45 minutes in. This video is exactly what I needed. Played them when they came out replayed the first end of 2016 and then thought about it for the last month or so.😊😊
I am personally going to precommand it because i k,ow its going to be a banger
I still regret not playing these games...glad it's coming to the switch I'll get them then
The ultimate goal in my opinion is if the remaster does well enough to please the Disney higher ups enough to sway them to let Purple Lamp the company making the game to potentially finish the story that junction point had planned my understanding is JP had 2 more games in the series but we all know what happen
This is the best game on the Wii
this game was amazing, I just learned of rebrushed and I am so excited to beat it again in September.
An excellent video. You did a wonderful job. I wish you further success in your creative endeavors here on TH-cam!
Thanks!
i think i may have been played Epic Mickey 1 at LEAST 20 times on Nintendo Wii... however i played through Epick Mickey 2 once and never touched nor thought about that game again
Holy fucking shit how do you only have 1.47k subs?!
This video is amazing
Epic video you’ve made here! (Pun intended) very well done. I’m excited for the remaster!
Amazing video i shared it on my community tab!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
This IP is my favorite from Disney’s game list, I love epic Mickey and can’t wait for rebrushed, I want to get the collectors edition and even if I don’t I’m still gonna get the game, I’ll even buy it again if I do find the collector’s edition
Dang you beat me to it
In all seriousness, I love your 'exhaustive history' videos on Disney history, keep at it!!
Thanks!
This is an amazing video. Maybe one day you’ll make a retrospective on my tiny game studio once we’ve grown a bit.
Thanks! What's the name of your game studio?
I cannot wait for the remaster for the Switch, and I really hope they remake the second one too
thanks for making this
Thanks for watching it!
This video is surprisingly well edited, possibly editing a little bit of the audio settings would be nice, a more mellow background track, with a more light and upbeat style. I enjoy that you didn't randomly put many super loud parts, great to sleep to.
Dude I love your content this video is awesome!!
Thanks!
this is a really underrated video, this deserves thousands of views, great work!
Thanks!
This deserves more views!!
Thanks!
I was never able to finish the first game because I had to rent it (via RedBox lol) but I remember loving it. It was very wonky, but I learned about so many characters that I never knew about and made me actually use the family Wii. I have such amazing hopes for the future of the this series if it’s put in the right hands ❤️
