    I always find it funny when the defensive player is looked down on because the offensive players can't break the defense properly. Most offensive players I've seen just don't understand how to stop attacking for an entire 5 minute roll just trying to get that tap.
    Defense heavy players have better time in longer rounds but offensive people won't do the longer rounds also.

      They both have their bugaboos that is for sure. The ultra active guys just have a super hard time getting out of some basic stuff or solidifying positions. While the Defensive players rely on someone else to move.
      My only issue with the defensive person is in practice you are just being boring and not getting better at what you suck at. But that can go both ways for sure.

    To answer the lady...
    Interesting portion when you talk about the defense part of grappling. 51 here, and most guys who roll with me are 20ish and 30ish, and gifted athletic. So yes, they, not me, they called me the tough mother fucker to submit.
    After a year, I had to stop this nonsense bottom no tapping game, cause injuries started too creep in, and my body was all beaten up.
    So now, I've been on bottom only a few rounds from the many rounds in the last months.
    I was viewing this black belt saying if you're old, you'll have to learn the long time bottom game. I disagree. If you're all defense, you're a target. That is not good, maybe you should stop doing martial art all together and go to a board game club.
    My game is now, an aggressive guard passing mode, and I don't care when people say, Oooo you're old, you should play bottom and more patient, screw that. Over my grave, I am passing your guard, pinning you and submitting you, period.

      @GrapplingWithPodcast  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awesome comment. I agree, I don't think you need to concede to being a bottom player as you get older. The Riberio brothers would also disagree with that. It's about being on top and feeling like building is crushing them. Slow the athletes down with grips!
      It sounded like you were actually getting more injured when you were playing defensive style, why do you think that was happening?

    • @tededo
      @tededo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got slowly injured cause I think the human body isnt build to take physical punishment, maybe to a certain extent. I'm physically build to take a lot, I'm high level threshold resilient, but there is a breaking point in every man. Even world's strongest men wear knee, elbow and shoulder braces, so imagine us not having that strongman frame and trying to survive those farm strength students. Nonsense. @@GrapplingWithPodcast

    Do you guys train no gi also, or only gi ? How do you split it up

    • @GrapplingWithPodcast
      @GrapplingWithPodcast  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bill started at a 10th planet gym and used to train it more. One of Bills current classes that he teaches is a nogi/gi combined class, so the techniques he teaches he shows nogi and gi grips. All 3 of us had been neglecting the dark arts of nude grappling. But Bill is starting to train it once a week this year. At open mats Bill partakes in nogi rounds also.
