TRT Causes Cancer & Heart Failure... Or Does It?
Bill, Dr. Chris & Dr. Carrie all break down this article that has caught a lot of attention. (See link below) That claims TRT causes cancer and heart failure. The Docs break down the article and the contribution by Dr. Mike Isreatel. Bill, of course, wants to jump down Isreatels throat, but it might not be warranted.

    Thank you for having this conversation. It’s really frustrating when people conflate TRT with “steroids”. I suffered from symptoms of low T for years and was prescribed antidepressants and anti anxiety meds for years because primary care docs never tested my levels to see if they were low. Even once they did test them, they didn’t want to prescribe it because I was just under the “normal range”… which in hindsight was WAY low from MY normal levels.

    I wish I could be on TRT. No doctor around where I live will give it out. I dont even want to blast it. Just want to make my self feel better with all my training and life.

      Check out Defy medical. They’ll do a consultation over the phone, have your current levels tested to see if you need it. That’s who I use. Mine comes in the mail. I get blood panels every 6 months to check my levels. I’m 46, I feel much better since I’ve been on it the last 3 years.

    I have made a priority of trying to be a good training partner, and training with others who have the same mindset. It took me a while to learn who will flow in a training roll and not rely on overwhelming me physically, which is relatively easy due to my age and size (old, small, blue belt). I would rather roll with a large, experienced black belt than new white belt who ramps things up to fight club intensity the second I'm able to provide any resistance or counter to what they are doing. Other blue or purple belts are a mixed bag. There are a couple of blue belts close to my size who are really good at flowing yet challenge me in different ways. The purple belts are learning they don't have to wreck or smash me just because they can. I try to drill roll with new white belts at a flowy, training pace. If they get it and work out I'll make a point of asking them to drill or roll and be as helpful as I can.

    It's the grappling 🐘in the room. Several instances of people having wrestler's envy and ripping subs amd cranking subs with a "fuck wrestling" attitude. People have tried spiteful things on guys like Chewy, Bo Nickel Chael Sonnen and Brandon Reed. I feel it comes from envy of the athleticism and confidence that a wrestler brings to the practice room and it makes jits guys act funny.

    • @michaelm9710

      What do you want people to do when a wrestler comes to jiu jitsu gym, asks a 40 year old brown belt to roll and proceeds to try to slam the guy into the mat and smash him as hard as possible? At some point don’t they have a right to slow the guy down with some chokes and subs?

    • @GrapplingWithPodcast
      @GrapplingWithPodcast 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think wrestlers absolutely can make some bjj guys feel some kind of way, just with the wrestlers persona. I see it with Judo guys as well when they come to the BJJ room. An issue is wrestlers & Judokas have a bit of a chip on their shoulder, mainly because of the "Lazy" stereo type with bjj practitioners, which in a lot of cases is valid, but as soon as a bjj guy isnt the "lazy" type or meets the athleticism or intensity of the wrestler/judo guy, bjj guy gets looked at weird, when hes just matching intensity. It's an odd dynamic for sure. Both sides need to just not be Dik bags.

    • @GrapplingWithPodcast
      @GrapplingWithPodcast 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      exactly, if a wrestler brings a wrestlers pace and intensity, they shouldn't get butt hurt when we do a 8 min round and not a little 3min round, and if it goes to the ground, don't be sad that you know nothing about mat grappling.

    • @JohnKing-yr7xn

      @@GrapplingWithPodcast yeah there's always weird energy with cross training of grappling arts. I have a theory that most childhood nerds end up in BJJ... But many of the childhood bullies were wrestlers. The energies clash and past trauma gets triggered and a battle of egos happens on the mats. I wish cross training was more readily available and regulated.

    Saw the Wong video and absolutely the Wong was... wrong. Absolutely there is a risk that a new white belt (especially a wrestler) could have spazzed out and gotten hurt in a heel hook, but that's not at all what happened. That dude had control and purposely ripped on it, and THEN posted it for the world to see so he obviously didn't feel too bad about it.

    • @Azul_blue1923
      @Azul_blue1923 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I saw the video. I wouldn’t describe it as ripping. But it was an inside heel hook which is more powerful. Is the proper etiquette for a heel is just catch and release?

    • @coloradoclif
      @coloradoclif 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Azul_blue1923 *shrug* at my gym heel hooks are always on the table (unless we're prepping for IBJJF or something like that) and they're treated no different than any other sub. Dude had a submission locked up tight and an opponent who clearly didn't know how to defend properly, at that point you are absolutely responsible for taking care of your training partner. This wasn't a case of two dudes going hard and something slipped and shit happened, this was a guy who consciously chose to destroy a knee because he was irritated.

    "I'll match your intensity" is me all day when I roll. I think flow rolls are typically best when they are biased towards one person. "Hey, I want to work on this thing, can you give me good reactions?" Something like that, where one person should be winning and the other is helping them drill but with 50% resistance. Along those lines

    Bjj guys still suck at takedowns and takedown defense. The average black belt has the takedown skills of a second year wrestler. It’s not what you do and it’s a glaring weak point. MMA is the proving ground and wrestling is king in the modern era. .

    • @GrapplingWithPodcast

      Definetly the weakest aspect of the current bjj scene for sure. But I do think it is changing. We are seeing more Judokas and Wrestlers coming into BJJ and it is changing the culture of the sport in a good way. It also helps the wrestlers and judo guys tighten their games up once they hit the mat. Everyone benefits for sure!

    A great summary from scientist (biologist) Heather Heying: Flowering plants, which means almost every plant that you can think of, have seeds (which become the next generation) and many have fruits (the enticement by the plant to get animals to disperse the seeds). No plant “wants” its seeds to be eaten, whereas fruits are produced in order to be eaten by others. Seeds thus tend to be protected with toxins of various sorts to prevent the plant’s babies from being eaten. The part of the avocado that we eat is the fruit; the pit = the seed. Thus, avocado oil is not a seed oil, but a fruit oil. Similarly, the part of the olive that we eat is the fruit; while seeds (=pits) are not explicitly extracted before embarking on traditional olive oil making processes, most of the oil produced is from the fruit, There is at least one traditional oil made from seeds: sesame oil. For reasons I do not yet know, sesame seeds seem amenable to having their oils extracted with non-high-tech methods. Also: coconut oil. Coconuts are giant, ocean-going seeds. They are, as anyone who has ever attempted it knows, extremely difficult to get into, but once you’re in, all of their deliciousness and nutritiousness is easily available. Coconuts thus protect their seeds via physical rather than chemical means. So there’s an evolutionary reason to be cautious about (most) seed oils: they are made from a part of the plant that is explicitly protecting itself via chemical means from being eaten. More to the point though, is that in order to extract the oils from seeds of e.g. sunflower, safflower, corn, etc, many additional industrial solvents and detergents have to be added to the mix. Then, in order to cover the noxious smells and colors and to stop rot, more industrial gunk is added-artificial colors made from coal tar, for instance. What are being called seed oils are thus industrial products, some parts of which were once part of a plant that resisted mightily the efforts to extract its oils, and has had toxic sludge of all sorts added in order to bring it into existence and to make it appear and smell and taste enough like food to trick the human sensory system. Our digestive systems and the rest of our physiology, however, are not so easily fooled.

    Not trying to be rude but just trying to help you out since this is youtube. The average youtuber will watch a video for 7 seconds and if they are not getting the information in the title they will click off. Point being, you have to front load your video with the topic you described in the title or nobdoy will watch. Lots of people start out their video making coffee or ranting about something off topic and its a complete failure. You get to the topic at the 17 minute mark. This will never work for youtube. Yes, its a podcast but this is video format. Totally different audience. Not trying to be rude...just trying to help. Go into your analytics for this video and I can guarantee you see a huge drop off in the first 30 seconds. How many people were still watching your video after 30 seconds? This is the reason why. Best of luck.
