  • Folks have often asked, "What is the cheapest computer I can use for 3D Printing?", so I set out to answer that question for the 3D Printing Community! This Samsung $70 Chromebook is by no means a powerful Computer, but can it be used to run a 3D printer and even 3D design custom parts? We will use AutoDesk TinkerCAD and Kiri:Moto for our 3D Design software and Slicing Software. No Linux rooting or dev menus in this tutorial!

    Excellent video! One of the things I struggle with is to be able to slice stls in my iPad, and this tutorial do work in that use case! I would love to have prusaslicer or any fork available for the iPad… but this is a quite good workaround! I’m enjoying more and more your content, keep going!!!! Cheers from Madrid!

    A free online slicer, what a time to be alive. When I started I used slic3r and that was a real sink or swim moment. That being said, I did run it on a janky laptop that didn't even have a battery for it anymore. Where there's a will, there's a way and all that :D

    This is the most helpful video for printing with a chromebook ever!! There are tons of tutorial videos and articles but nothing felt as clear and concise for a printing noob like myself than this video!! including free web-based programs to use is seriously the lifesaver in this, because i'm not an expert at coding at all and also some of the other programs, like Cura, have linux install options but i have found more bugs with those.. i never even knew about kiri:moto until this video and man this is all just super helpful!! for the first time in the 6 months i've had my Ender 3 i feel like i can actually use it, thank you!!!

      For the record, I have an Acer Chromebook 516 GE and i'm using the Ender 3 with manufacturor parts only (so far), and so far everything is running smooth with the test print that i'm running! Kiri:Moto is just as user-friendly as shown in his tutorial, in my experience, and everything is running smooth so far!

    Good video.
    I use a connex windows laptop with basically the same specs. and well. It slices as fast as my 9 year old core i3 desktop PC. Yes, I am broke.
    I also use tinkercad to design my parts for my products. It does have limitations, but you can work around them with imagination.
    As I only reacently discovered your channel through 3DPN's channel and your monster kyle cup, I have been playting catchup with all the videos.
    Great channel you have here. Very real.

  • @WhiteG60
    @WhiteG60 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had OnShape working on one of my kid's school provided Chromebooks. It sucked with a 1280x768 screen, but with an external monitor it ran fine. OnShape 'pro' is also free for students.
    My biggest problem with TinkerCAD (which is great, I used it for quite a while) is that the workflow doesn't translate to any other design program, so once you outgrow it, you need to relearn the whole process from scratch using 2D and extrusions. It took me months to wrap my head around how that all worked after using TinkerCAD.

      The M5 being such a new and specialized machine, I cannot make any recommendations. I only know of 1 slicer aside from Anker's own that has a profile for the M5, and it is a github project offshoot I wouldn't point a new user toward. ive done a few prints so far and they turn out great. how ever the outer most layer seems incomplete, there is no outer shell so to say. fonts and small detail parts look rough and unfinished. ive played around with all the infill and shells counts but nothing seems to fix this issue

    • @gpedrok
      @gpedrok ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you are setting the outer layer to prin first, should be a box to check, if you print inner layers of the shell first any excess material can create bulges on the outer surface, you could adjust the percent of flow but you'll never know exactly what you are going to get. This is not a good choice for overhangs.

      Use the Ender 3. The Neptune 2 is an Ender 3 clone. The software knows no difference.
