    Someone needs to do a dedicated video on the new beacon touch. This is a total game changer and will eventually replace all other bed leveling solutions. It is that important!

      That’s what I said about the dildo with the double decker design, but then everyone when back to the original style soooo probably gonna be the same with the beacon.

      I will likely touch on it and maybe do a full video on my other channel, Mandic Labs: www.youtube.com/@MandicLabs/
      That is where I'm doing the videos that are harder to justify full videos on this channel.

    Just FYI Mandic (although the Orbiter Toolboard and Nighthawk 36's are nice) you can run your EBB 36 in usb mode too. For some reason everyone has convinced themselves they need to complicate everything and add more latency with CAN when the boards already work out of the box with USB.
    HUGE props to LDO and Robert for bringing some sanity back into the toolboard game :)

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea, I am aware, and that was what my next step was going to be. Now that LDO has these coming out, I think I'm just gonna wait and swap to the Orbiter board as I am running an Orbiter 2.0 on that machine. That is a better fit than the "generic" Nitehawk 36 anyway. I've never had as much trouble with CAN as I do on that Mercury One. The latency and delay of commands is crazy.

      I have ebb36 running on usb. My only issue so far is it will disconnect if I try to print something crazy fast. Not realistic speeds anyway so doesn’t matter lol

      Make sure your tie down your USB connector so it can't move or you'll create a loose connection over time.

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@miklschmidt The LDO boards use the XT30+2 connector so it will stay secure, but I NEVER rely on connectors to hold. I always have strain relief the only thing that can effect a connector is the vibration of the motion system.

      I am skeptically optimistic. It seems like one of those things that will either never come out, come out and suck, or come out and be absolutely awesome. The fact that they have a pre order page on their site with no price (you get an email when it is available) make me think it may be overpriced, I hope I am wrong about all but the third one.

    Nice video! Now we have actually a swiss company with swiss in the name (illegal in Europe, misleading company name), curious how their quick swap nozzles take off, especially since these should be cheaper and even more consistent in length than revo. Two little critique points on the nitehawk boards from my side. The stepper motor connector should face the other direction on the 36 and 42 style boards (like the other connectors), nothing a little soldering wouldn't fix. The reason is that not everyone attaches the nitehawk 36 directly to the stepper motors of the extruder, i personally think this is a horrible idea anyway on most extruders as most only have two attachment points (sherpa, orbiter, hextruder, Galileo 2 standalone, hgx, sailfin, etc; lgx has 4 screw points), so the whole assembly is kinda wobbly when attached to printed parts, i always have a brace or similar between to prevent that wobble. Resonance measurements from the toolhead boards have become much closer to nozzle adxl based results this way. Anyway, one might install the board a little lower than the extruder stepper motor and now the connector causes the board to not fit. The other critique point is the xt30+2. These connections are simply not available in the entirety of Europe, at least i haven't found them. Someone said that you can use a regular xt30 and a jst xh, but then i could also run a ebb36/ebb42, use the molex connector and a super short usb c cable from the pins right next to the molex input (these are actually canbus pins) to the usb input. So i still have only one connector towards the toolhead and its a properly locking connection unlike the xt30 stuff while having a usb communication.

    G'day Mandic ol son.....im a 4yr long noob in 3d printing, but i did do a Micro Swiss hotend and DD unit swap on my Ender 3 V2. I've recently won a Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro, which im converting to the new Micro Swiss FLOWTECH. Which will allow me to get rid of that dam piece of teflon in the stock head, to a one piece nozzle/ heatbreak in a simple plug and play unit oh! and leak proof . ive been seeing a lot of Neptunes with huge blobs encasing the whole print head, so i wanna get ahead of this potential hazzard Now thanks Micro Swiss and Slice Engineering. Big Cheers to ya for Your time on making these vids, From a M8 Dowunder

      I just can't support Slice Engineering after the entire VZBot/communism thing and suing companies because they patented "spacers between the cold end and hot end" situation. Slice's response to the outrage from the 3D community was the icing on the cake for me. What did they really show anyways? There were some hot end parts on a table, then they said something "big" was coming this Summer so nothing to show and this convention was 3 weeks ago?

    Mandic, what is your problem with CANBus?

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  หลายเดือนก่อน

      My Mercury One is VERY slow to respond. Like the filament runout sensor will trip and it won’t stop printing for over a minute. Weird things like that where it just behaves very strangely. And getting the can configured didn’t go smoothly with the board it is running. The USB board would just be a simple fix for the odd issues it has. I run CAN on a handful of machines with ZERO issues, just that one misbehaves.

    • @zapl80
      @zapl80 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MandicReallyCAN latency should be a few milliseconds maybe, it can be something in the software but I doubt it's a technical limitation of a 1 MHz CAN bus.

    • @MandicReally
      @MandicReally  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zapl80 I understand that all things being equal, signaling speed should not be an issue. An issue exists though. I've reflashed the entire system multiple times and it keeps happening. Something is off, somewhere in the system but I cannot nail down what or where. Going to USB will eliminate a couple points of possible failure.

    • @BobCollins42
      @BobCollins42 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MandicReally I repectfully suggest that what you experienced was not the fault of CANBus. While I hope a USB solution works for you, USB is not likely the correct technical solution for 3d printers.

    • @RobMink
      @RobMink หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am personaly not a huge fan of CANBUS either. Its a real pain to set up, finiky, we already have atleast 4 different inferfaces in a Pi, lets use em, not throw another one in just because. I have it in a V0.1 Double dragon and a Mercury.
